  1. I'm pretty sure I'm on your friend list (Malarus), and I have a Leo, who I'm siding with against all odds come gauntlet time. If you want to join up, I'm sure we could use some sturdy green units in the first round.
  2. M!Robin is, sadly, offensively underwhelming, and is really hurt by a -Atk or -Spd bane. His main strength comes from his ability to tank physical damage from red and colorless units while building up his special. He is best used as a bait-and-counter unit for archers and shuriken users. Make no mistake, that's a pretty nice tool to have, but you should always have him accompanied by someone with more killing power to do clean-up. For your Kagero problem, I recommend training up one of your flying brave attackers. Cordelia is a pretty popular choice, and she fills the blue vacancy left by our pal Robin. Flyers are less risky to have in an offensive team, so just practice your positioning shenanigans and you'll be able to assassinate attack-oriented units with little problem.
  3. The training tower enemies have random skills. This means that you can run into Effie with ranged counter (ugh), Marth with Fury, Lissa with Axebreaker, etc.
  4. That someone is me. The only green tome I had was Cecilia. Now I have a green unit that doesn't get blicked by Ursula in 9-3 lunatic (hate that stage so much).
  5. I've got three off the top of my head, and they all start with 'L': Linus, Lloyd, and Lyon. Would they just be adding to the pile of red swordsman and tome users? Well, yes, (except for Linus, who could go the Raven route and maybe pack a Tomahawk), but I don't particularly care. The Grand Hero Battle seems to be a nice way to give us definite, free alternatives to some of the rare and useful units, and in some cases units who weren't even playable in the main story of their own games. I would love to have a green axe user with even half-decent speed, for example, or a red tome user other than friggin' Henry and Raigh. Either of the Reed brothers could have a tiny recreation of Linus' map from Blazing Sword (this is personal bias on my part, because I found it much more fun than Lloyd's), and Lyon could use the annoying volcano stage with a bunch of mages and grey units for maximum dickery. Each of the grand hero battles so far have been pretty harsh and required you to endure an initial barrage of mixed damage, but after that you can usually go to work and wreck their extremely front-loaded team. The Lyon battle would likely need healing support to withstand a more staggered, multi-turn barrage to reach your goal, so I don't know if it's in the same spirit as the previous battles, but I'm already tired of the, "Get one of your units ready for a gangbang," approach to strategy from F!Robin and especially Narcian.
  6. Hang in there! I can absolutely relate to running out of steam during the endgame, but you can do it!
  7. Just try pairing a decently fast melee unit that doesn't hit that hard with a dagger user and you'll see a major difference in your combat forecasts. Even if your rogue does 0 damage, there is always a helpful effect just for having them fight. I don't think I could level up my Olivia without Felicia.
  8. Huh, for some reason I hadn't thought of that. I always use the extra turn to attack again. Lesson learned: I should be more cautious with my squishy mage-dancer combo.
  9. Thanks for the tips! I wish I had a Jagen, since I have basically all the other Jagen-types available in this game, but ah well. Looks like I have some grinding to do with my Gunter, and then maybe Gordin or Virion. Off to the training tower!
  10. So I got a 5-star Leo, and while he's a pretty good attacker, I feel like he needs a good team focused around supporting him to be amazing. He's mounted, slightly tankier than an average mage, and has a skill that is designed to make enemy ranged units regret attacking him, but his speed is pretty dismal, and his attack power, while not terrible, isn't really high enough to one-hit KO most of the time. The movement debuff he hits enemies with is kinda neat, except if you were trying to take out a melee unit. In this case, either A) The unit dies, and the debuff has no purpose, or B) the unit lives, and only has to move 1 space to take their revenge on our poor mage. So, I realize this is kinda specific, but what kind of team lineup would both propel Leo to greatness and also not be completely useless without him? For quick reference, I got a totally neutral Leo, so no boon/bane adjustments, and I've nabbed all of his skills except for Savage Blow 3. I'm going to need to kill 111 more lvl 40 units to get that final skill, so let's just stick with Savage Blow 2 for now. Here's his level 40 5-star stats: My initial thoughts are a team that utilizes 4-star Gunter for his hone cavalry aura (plus, Harsh Command is situationally brilliant), 5-star Azura for refreshing and backup anti-red damage, and TBD for the 4th slot. Whadday'all think? Oh yeah, I can't forget to show my options, so here they are: Thanks for your help!
  11. Me too. I have a disposable income (however small), and I am more than willing to drop some dinero on things I like. However, there has gotta be a cost/value balance that isn't so skewed towards "whales."
  12. Damn, that's what I was afraid of. Time to grind the shit outta my lvl20 3* Narcian, then, I guess.
  13. Since the only bonus hero I have for this round is Narcian, the possible point totals I've gotten in all my arena runs yesterday have all been a pitiful 150-280 points per match. Has anyone else run into this change? Do the bonus units really make that much of a difference? I didn't have most of the bonus heroes from the last season, either, and I was still capable of getting 500-600 point matches.
  14. It continues to mystify me that Virion is putting in work for you. I have struggled so hard to get him to a point where he even does a single point of damage when I need him to. I want to use him, I really do, because I like his goofy, foppish ways and seal speed, but I wonder if the 3* version I got has a bad boon/bane or something.
  15. I might be the only one who wants Stefan, Zihark, and Nailah most of all from Tellius. Ike and Micaiah are already shoe-ins, so those would be my less likely dream choices. The more villains they put in, the better. The rest of the Four Fangs would be fabulous, but some other stand-out choices would be Idoun, Lyon, Nergal, and real Garon.
  16. Red: Man oh man, I wish I had pulled my 5* Roy before I had burned through most of the hard mode chapters. I've been living off a 4* Marth and Adult Tiki, and when I finally got Roy up to the late 20s in level he was melting faces. +2 Res and Def doesn't sound like a big boost, but he's surprisingly durable. The only units he has to avoid are blues. That's what you have three more slots in your teams for, though, which brings me to... Green: Le sigh. The first green unit I drew at more than 3* was Hawkeye, and the second was Cecilia. Cecilia is super frail and slow, so I've gone with the shirtless desert berserker. His strength is decent, and if he survives long enough to use his special it's pretty nice. I don't know if I just got a bad boon/bane combination, but his defenses are middling, and even at level 40 his speed is only 20. Despite all of these weaknesses he has been my most used green unit, and has had quite a few great save-the-day moments in the arena. Blue: 3* Robin made me cry with how slow he was, but once I got a 4* version, his solid def, speed, and trick weapon redeemed him in my eyes. Also, shanna is a surprisingly effective mage killer. Gray: Man, I don't know. Gordin, I guess. Lissa and Felicia have also had their uses.
  17. Whoops, wrong thread! That's what happens when you have two tabs open to the same forum at the same time late at night.
  18. Anyway, I forgot to take pics of like 2 of my summon sessions, but they were devoid of anything notable. I mean, I got a 3* Lonqu (MYRM BIAS INTENSIFIES), but sword users are choked with lords and legendary weapons, so unless he turns out to have some badass res I'm sadly going to have to keep him benched. On the other hand, am I officially the first on this forum to pull a Leo? And a 5* Leo no less!
  19. I agree that the best system for durability would be to be able to spend gold and repair your weapons, and the really nice ones (like silver) would have less uses and cost more to repair. I have never understood people's complaints that more expensive, more powerful weapons make the crappy iron swords you get at the beginning of the game obsolete. Of course they do! That's why you can't get them until more than halfway through the game! That's why your weapon rank has to be higher (sometimes a lot higher) to use them! In Fates the forge just crushed any desire I had to use any of the B rank weapons, and made me very dubious of the A and S ranked ones. All I needed was to forge an iron weapon up to, say, +3, and I was all set. It was a touch heartbreaking, because they gave the shiny, high rank weapons cooler and more elaborate models, and I'm such a sucker for aesthetic stuff like that, but ah well. Not worth the crippling debuffs I would accrue after fighting 2 or 3 enemies. No thanks.
  20. I'm going to play it until my hands bleed. I played all the beta tests, and loved every single one. I'm just waiting for a check my wife sent home to clear, and then it's time to order mine on Amazon. As for people saying it's easier than the souls games, that might be true. As for why, I think it's because you have more mobility. William (hereafter referred to as Big Willy Stylez) is pretty nimble, and the ki pulse mechanic is actually a lot easier to manage then it might seem at first. The bosses will still end you in just a couple of hits, though, so in that respect it's still pretty similar to Soulsborne.
  21. Since we're also talking about possible future additions, I would love almost any of the laguz to make it in, but I would be most happy with Nailah, Nasir, and Ranulf. I basically never got to team those three up for any appreciable length of Radiant Dawn. Also, the more memorable enemy generals from across the series would be frickin' sweet.
  22. Do you have any rogue/ninja/thief types? Most of them have skills that debuff defense, and I think a few have attack debuff effects on their weapons. They won't be taking one down by themselves, but they are meant more as support attackers anyway. I know Matthew has poison strike, which causes any enemy he fights to take 10 damage afterward (won't kill, sadly), even if he does 0 with his attacks. Check out their available skills. Also, try to time special attacks like glowing ember (adds 1/2 def to damage) and chill wind (adds 1/2 res). Save them for the big guys whenever possible. I'll echo the thought that manaketes are practically designed as anti-armor tanks. Their breath attacks hit res, and their def and HP are great. You have to watch out for enemy tome users, though. Those guys consistently wreck my poor Tiki.
  23. speaking of blue mages, is Robin it? I haven't seen anybody else yet so far.
  24. Man, trading would be a truly great thing in this game. I have a 4* Gordin on my team that I think would be a hot ticket item on this board, not to mention the sea of Matthews I'm swimming in.
  25. Every time I have rolled for summons, I have hoped for a Camilla. I have gotten one green summon, and it was an underwhelming Cecilia. Come on, game! Stop giving me Matthews! So yeah, Camilla, Kagero, Lyn, Lon'qu (is he available? He was in the direct), and either Chrom or Lucina. If any of them were to be 5* then they would be my first. Goddamned Matthew for days...
