  1. Yes, Randolf should be dead, since you killed Jeralt and thus, Byleth doesn`t join you. I`m gonna assume it`s a mistranslation. As for the topic itself, I feel the more you try to intergrade character deaths into the story, the more branching narrative possibilities arise. Which can be a problem, as it means that the story has to be written to accommodate all these branches. Of course, the difficulty of this depends on how much these deaths would affect the narrative and/or character arcs. I`m sure good writers could make it all work, in theory at least.
  2. Honestly, same here. The mini-games in Engage never held my interest after my first playthrough. Cooking is the only one I have bothered with, as Wyvern Flying is not that exciting, Push Ups got boring quick and I refuse to take part in the fishing. (Between FE and Trails, I am getting sick of fishing mini-games in JRPGs). Ideally, I would like to have a smaller hub world like My Castle. Walking around is fun the first time, but quickly becomes boring later. Less busy work (checking the green house, picking up materials, etc) would also be appreciated. Having a menu for when you don`t wanna wander around is definitely needed. I like the idea of returning to Echoes villages or having multiple, smaller hubs too.
  3. Oh absolutely, it definitely reeks of "we could just include this stuff in the game as is, buuuut we want that money so, have it at extra cost".
  4. I am waiting to see more of P5 Tactica in action before deciding if I wanna play it. DLC isn`t a big concern of mine, since it won`t be bought unless I like the game as-is. A FE spin-off focusing on a smaller cast and lacking permadeath is an idea that could be neat to explore.
  5. I`m not expecting anything, so that I can be pleasantly surprised if we do get something. And also because we got Engage a few months ago. I feel like "a remake of a SNES classic" is too broad to mean a Genealogy remake specifically.
  6. For me Gilbert is a character that, while I personally don`t like, I do think he is well written. The paralysing guilt, self loathing and general shame makes sense in the context of Fhaergus chivalric values. I also like that, while he is a bad dad, he isn`t this horribly scummy peace of garbage, like many other bad dads in fiction tend to be. Shamir meanwhile does nothing for me. Her character is meh, her supports are whatever and as a unit, she has only ever been okay.
  7. Another thought that came to me recently, I cannot for the life of me remember many Engage tracks off the top of my head. Aside from the opening theme and the Solm map theme, the rest is a wash. It feels weird to say, cause FE games usually have great music, but this OST is utterly forgettable to me.
  8. In terms of being a "avatar" for the player, Mark is the best, as they have no real character of their own. Conversely, the worst are Byleth and Alear, as they are practically their own character with no customizable elements. In terms of which I personally prefer, Kris is my least favourite. They are so boring, only talking about either training, Prince Marth or their grandfather. Robin is my favourite in terms of character (especially in DLC), while Corrin is my favourite as a unit. Corrin is strong without feeling broken, and being able to turn into a dragon is cool (even if I wish the story would remember that detail).
  9. Having now played more of hard mode, the enemy reinforcements are getting on my nerves. Once they first show up on a map,, they are constant.
  10. True, cavs are also pretty badly screwed over (and yeah, Mist really gets the short end of the stick in that regard).
  11. That is true, especially since they face mostly Beast Laguz, who are weak to fire magic. "Fix some of thier caps" could easily apply to several units in Radiant Dawn.
  12. Gameplay is incredibly fun, while also being fairly challenging. Characters, both design and personality wise, are a mixed bag. The story is meh, it has some neat ideas (such as the tense relationship between Brodia and Elusia and the self-reliant isolationisim of Firene), but also have moments that don`t land for me. Mechanics are hit-or-miss, chain attacks and Emblems are pretty good, while break drops off in relevance around the midgame. Overall, a game I enjoy despite my problems with it.
  13. From what I`ve seen, people interpreted it as her being Adult Tiki`s flower girl, so they had less issue with it. Most of the outrage was at Adult Tiki not being a solo unit or how boring of a duo we got.
  14. Even with Adult Tiki as the lead unit, the paralogue just further proved who IS considers the true star. I don`t wanna be one of those "is HaTeS aWaKeNiNg TiKi" people, but both the paralogue and "Meet the Heroes" focusing on Young Tiki feels very deliberate/spiteful. Part of me feels like they kept emphasizing that it was a "fake wedding" to try and avoid uncomfortable implications. It failed, I was uncomfortable for that entire scene and was only further convinced child characters should stay away from these kind of banners. At least Flavia and Say`ri had some fun dialogue, and their designs are nice.
  15. I also want MUs in FE to stop being main characters and be just another member of the army, so I agree with this option. New base convos could be neat too.
  16. Fair point, but I also wouldm`t want the MU to be able to solo the game. Question, how would the MU`s story role be handled? With them being able to be in any army, it would be difficult to give them one consistent role.
  17. As much I like the idea of Path of Radiance supports determining their starting faction in Radiant Dawn, the split army system means that the MU`s availability will vary greatly, which will make balancing them difficult.
  18. Fair enough, I think the suggestion was done to make Laura less redundant with Micaiah becoming a Light Sage at the end of part I.
  19. Fair point, I guess it depends on how much they carry over and how they decide to write it. I would dig giving certain pairs extra lines.
  20. My joke suggestion is a full on dating simulator. No fighting, no strategy, no weapon management, just choosing your favourite waifu/husbando and going all the way with them. In all seriousness, I can`t think of any particular type of spin-off I wanna see for FE.
  21. I mean, if they really wanted to make a sequel to a game where pairings are player determined, they could have data transfered from the first entry determine the parentage of certain characters in the sequel. Might be complicated to do, but still possible.
  22. Yeah, canonizing pairings from games like Awakening or Fates would just piss players off. That being said, I would still be up for canon pairs in future FE titles. And yeah, canon same-sex couple would be great too.
  23. Back when Echoes first released? Yeah, definitely. Nowadays? Not really. There has been a rise in people who despise Conrad for taking away Celica`s agency in moments she was fine originally, like the rockslide that separates Alm and Celica for the rest of the game.
  24. Reminds me of that village lady in Echoes who wanted to "thank" Saber for dealing with the pirate problem. Implications like that could be a way to, for the lack of a better term, "sex up" FE. if we do get that arranged marriage Lord couple like I want, there needs to be a mandatory event that confirms the couple had a child, cause the bloodline needs to continue dammit. And as a plot point, it could put concerned nobles at ease, knowing the line of succession is now secure.
  25. I would also hate for romances to be avatar exclusive. That being said, support-based romances suffer from being wishy-washy in writing, cause they can`t confirm or deny if the pair ends up together until the end. Then again, the only other alternatives I can think of would be some events ala Tear Ring Saga, or limiting pairs only to canon/pre-determined ones like SoV. It is possible that ChromxSumia was meant to be a canon pair in emulation of MarthxShida, but then the decision was made to copy Genealogy and pair everyone. Might explain Sumia holding baby Lucina in the opening.
