  1. I may exaggerate my fondness for Rixia because I think doing so is funny, but I think she's interesting from what I know of her and I'm sure I'll like her well enough if I play her games. So it's not just because of that line. I guessing that when the final Trails game releases in ten years, it will be revealed that the true mastermind behind the whole series is the kid who Estelle and Joshua saved at the beginning of the first game.
  2. Musing about the previous Spooder-Man movies, I was thinking about how MCU Mysterio is a less fun and interesting version of Syndrome. I was wondering if I was forgetting what his motives were, but they're just "I want to be famous" and "Tony Stark gave my invention a dumb name". I wish he was in No Way Home just so the Green Goblin could blow him up or something. Good, the Rixia fan club is growing. She's too young, go to jail. As an aside, somehow Erica Mendez voices both Elie and Rixia in English. They won't appear together in a game with English voice acting until Reverie releases (as Zero and Azure aren't getting dubbed since they can barely afford to localize them already), so I wonder what will happen then. Now we really know who asked her to show bobs on the Orbal web. Trails's attention to resolving plot points is very impressive.
  3. It's nice to know that the purple-haired girl I just met will end up becoming playable. Probably soon, I would expect. I wonder if each chapter will have two party members in addition to Estelle and Joshua, since Scherazard and Olivier left at the end of Chapter 1. But how do you know that best girl is in 3rd if you (presumably) haven't played it? I may have declared Rixia best girl already, but I'm somewhat familiar with the games she's in.
  4. People are again talking about Trails gameplay, but I'm still on the first game so I don't have any interesting comments to offer. I wonder what exciting things I have to look forward to in the following games. I actually did grow up with Naruto, which proves your point, though I only watched the anime during Part I. If you go by the manga instead of the anime, Naruto is "only" 700 chapters long, while One Piece is over a thousand chapters and still isn't over. I didn't start reading the Naruto manga until 2012, two years before it ended, and I had the video games as a way to get caught up on what happened before then. Actually, I wonder if the Ultimate Ninja Storm games would be a good way to experience Naruto for the first time... One of the reasons I usually don't watch anime is because I'd rather not deal with the time investment. Neon Genesis Evangelion is only 26 episodes and a movie, which is why it's one of the two anime I've watched fully (the other being Code Geass). JoJo isn't quite the same thing because it's divided into self-contained parts, so it's easier to take breaks between them. Other mangas don't have that mercy.
  5. 13 Spiders: Avengers Rim was pretty good. You-know-who even said the funny line. One Piece is too long for me to get into, maybe I would have something to say if it was a Naruto discussion.
  6. "I am inevitable" -Olivier Hopefully Crossbell has enough fancy food and wine for him. Maybe the true main conflict of the Trails series is Olivier's quest for fine dining. "Unsurprising. I'm just that good, after all." Of course it's nonsense, the father has to eat lots of vegetables for the child to be a girl.
  7. You've heard of Godzilla vs. King Kong, but are you ready for I can't wait to see what you're talking about when the game releases in English in 2023. Though I am finished with Sky's Chapter 1, so at least I'm making progress.
  8. Happy Galactic Tick Day! Today commemorates the Sun moving one-hundredth of one-sixtieth of one-sixtieth of a degree around the Milky Way. It actually takes around 225 million years for the Sun to make one full orbit around the galaxy, but you can't make an annual celebration out of that. The first Galactic Tick Day was October 2, 1608, when the telescope was patented, and the next will be September 10, 2023. On to my Switch year in review: Played 15 games (22 last year) 216 hours (613 last year, probably because I didn't have a job then and I didn't play any giant RPGs this year) Most played games were The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles (99 hours), Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (39 hours), and Age of Calamity (23 hours) Last year they were Dragon Quest XI and Xenoblade DE Most played months were August (50 hours), September (47 hours), and October (25 hours) Most active day was September 19th (9 hours), which is when I played The Great Ace Attorney 2's final case. Most active day last year was May 14th, during which I played Animal Crossing and Final Fantasy VII. Somehow, it took me longer to finish The Great Ace Attorney games than it did for me to get every moon in Super Mario Odyssey.
  9. I was fully expecting On the other hand, the right silhouette wasn't leaked so we can get some milage out of predicting that. The silhouette is usually assumed to be Ignatz, so will we finally get our last student in this focus?
  10. A female main character being bullied by everyone? This is just like Xenoblade. I just see it as Joshua being the straight man to Estelle's Estelleness, since most of what he says is at least somewhat founded. But he probably has a tragic backstory of some kind, so that might have something to do with how he perceives Estelle's attitude. How far did you get in your playthrough? Presumably farther than I've gotten, since I haven't met Olivier yet. Speaking of big inciting incidents, Xenoblade 2's first chapter is so cool that it's a shame Pyra never gets to fight by herself afterwards... outside Super Smash Bros., I suppose. Evidently the budget couldn't handle Pyra's fighting skills, even if there are battle cutscenes scattered throughout the game. Little did those enemy mechs know, Pac-Man is more powerful outside his robot. He just uses it to give his foes a fighting chance.
  11. So the Sonic 2 trailer was unironically the best thing to come out of the Game Awards, we've certainly come a long way since the first Sonic movie trailer. It's good, I think the gameplay is fun so far. The plot maintained my interest throughout but I can understand why some might think it was slow; most of it was "Estelle and Joshua perform jobs on behalf of their dad" and the inciting incident isn't until the end of the prologue, which in my experience was five and a half hours in. In retrospect, having a big inciting incident to capture the player's interest early on is something the Xenoblade games are good at.
  12. I finished Trails in the Sky's prologue, and according to the achievement statistics, only 44.8 percent of players have done so, oddly enough. Anyway, here's Sonic 2: Electric Boogaloo so you don't have to watch the Game Awards:
  13. That's right, Veronica's father wanted to destroy Askr due to the Embla curse, and Veronica's popularity among the people was due to her continuing his conquest. Basically: Veronica becoming increasingly friendly with Askr might be another reason why the nobles want to get rid of her. But the Askr/Embla conflict was apparently started by the previous emperor, even though everything we've heard about Embla the dragon makes it sound like she's always been evil (she's the god of "erected barriers and the breaking of bonds," per Elm's description). I wonder why that is. On another note, Ash, Elm, and Letizia have been added to the main FEH site with voice clips. Elm says that thanks to the Askrans and Askr, Embla "has retreated and remains in solitude." Maybe Askr defeated Embla and banished her somewhere at some point. Note that he refers to Askr as "Lord Askr" despite apparently disliking him. Letizia has a very not villainous sounding line: "My wrath knows no bounds. Not even the malice in Lady Embla's heart runs as deep!" Anyway, I suspect we're returning to the Embla plotline now so Veronica is free to help us when we fight Asgard, which I think will be Book VII. This book will probably be Veronica's "redemption arc." While I believe we'll go to Vanaheimr eventually, I don't think it will get its own book if Jötunheimr didn't. Maybe Book VII's free unit will be a Vanir, since it would be strange for an Asgardian to join the party if we're fighting Asgard. If we see Fenrir and Jörmungandr eventually, hopefully they won't be made into girls.
  14. For a recap of Embla's political situation, the current ruler is the former emperor's second wife, while his first wife was Veronica's mother. Bruno is also a child of the previous emperor (his mother was imprisoned and died after being accused of leaking secrets to Askr), and Letizia appears to be a distant relative of theirs. Veronica is popular enough among the citizens to be the de facto leader of Embla, which is why the nobles/presumably Letizia want her out of the way. I expect Letizia tattled to Elm that Veronica was getting buddy-buddy with Askr, which got him to cooperate with her scheme. She might also appeal to Embla directly at some point and may be possessed by her (willingly or not). Embla the dragon will likely be introduced in the midpoint trailer, if we don't meet her before then. While it's too early to predict what characters will be added throughout the book, maybe Bruno will be the midpoint legendary (since this seems like a good time to bring him back), Elm will be the "secondary villain September Mythic" like Thrasir, Plumeria, and Ótr were, and the end-of-book Legendary/Mythic can be some combination of Veronica, Letizia, and Embla (assuming the latter two are separate). Askr is male, so we'll eventually get him as a seasonal.
  15. It's December 7th, making it the 10th anniversary of this masterpiece (and the 3rd anniversary of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate): And it seems we're talking about Trails again, so I better say something relevant.
  16. Don't have a cow, man. Not in the original SNES version, which had a fixed party for the final dungeon, but some later versions give you almost everyone by the end of the game. I hear Reverie has three protagonists like everyone's favorite game, Sonic 06, so the 50 characters are probably split amongst their parties.
  17. It's kind of strange to move away from the Norse mythology/Nine Realms plotline after sticking with it for four books, even if we'll still see Alfador eventually. Maybe IS went back to Midgard because they couldn't figure out what to do for Vanaheim. I suppose we'll see Askr and Embla themselves and resolve the Embla curse by the end of the book, so Veronica and Bruno will be free to help the party against Asgard. On another note, it's funny how they aren't even pretending that Veronica is still a villain at this point. I'm pretty sure Reinhardt has more dialogue here than he does in his own game.
  18. So it's like Final Fantasy IV where the composition of the party constantly changes, I suppose. Hopefully it's not like Final Fantasy II, where the fourth party member always dies. I wonder if you get to use everyone by the end of the game. I hear Trails into Reverie has over 50 characters, so it's statistically likely that most of the party will be playable in that game. Ah yes, the scene with Haitaka and No-Face on the train is one of the most iconic scenes in anime history.
  19. Today in Terraria I found the Influx Waver I wanted, which made getting the last of the Beetle shells from the Golem very easy. I haven't made the Beetle armor yet, but I'll have to decide whether I want the offensive or defensive bonus before I craft it. I then tried to fish for some Azure Crates so I can get two more Shiny Red Balloons to make a Bundle of Balloons (I have the Sandstorm in a Balloon already), but was interrupted by another Martian invasion, which canceled my fishing but at least gave me a better Influx Waver. Also, it turns out I was missing a Blizzard in a Bottle, so I couldn't make the Bundle of Balloons anyway. I was annoyed enough that I randomly fished in the lava pool I made, which was fortunate because I finally found a crate that gave me a Lava Charm. It was last thing I needed for the Terraspark Boots, so... And I didn't even need to use any fishing potions. Maybe I'll try to fight Duke Fishron next before trying to complete the endgame. As a Trails in the Sky question, when am I going to get a party member other than Estelle and Joshua? I find that I enjoy RPGs more when I have more characters to use.
  20. Yesterday in Terraria I made a floating Mushroom island for the Truffle, as my friend previously suggested I do to get around the Crimson, but I was interrupted partway through by an alien invasion. At least I got a laser gatling gun and rocket launcher out of it; the Martian Saucer boss drops many powerful items, but I only defeated two of them. Fortunately the Martians can't show up until after you defeat the Golem, so they can't ruin Rubenio's day even further. Then later I got another Martian invasion, and that time I got another rocket launcher and a Xeno Staff for a UFO summon, as well as an Anti-Gravity Hook (I didn't notice this until after making this post, but I also got a Laser Drill, which is the strongest digging item in the game). Previously I used the Optic Staff as my summon weapon of choice, but I can alternate between the two of them. I'll continue fighting invasions if they occur until I get the Influx Waver, which is one of the strongest swords in the game. Being that the Terra Blade is my weapon of choice, I should probably upgrade to the Beetle armor as my near-endgame armor. Crafting that requires defeating the Golem a few more times, not to mention getting Turtle armor first.
  21. Happy Xenoversary from the Aegises. Souls of Light should still drop from the Jungle's enemies, since they drop from any enemy in the Hallow biome and not just Hallow enemies. Even if they didn't, you could summon the Destroyer using Souls of Night (which should be abundant, considering your base is overrun). I'd consider investing in ammo-conserving equipment once you get the Clentaminator if you want to purify all of your base.
  22. I made a tier list, namely "how old was that character when they were added to Super Smash Bros.?" The results may surprise you. Note how six out of eight Fire Emblem characters are under two years or less. Wireframe Mac represents the arcade Punch-Out!!, while Little Mac represents the NES Punch-Out!! Characters are ordered within tiers, with characters on the left being older. Ties are when characters introduced in the same game were added in the same Smash (Mario/DK, Peach/Bowser, Pikachu/Jigglypuff, Robin/Lucina, Sheik/Young Link/Ganondorf), and Yoshi/Captain Falcon since Super Mario World and F-Zero were both SNES launch titles. Coincidentally, Olimar/Bayonetta and Meta Knight/Leaf are also ties. Technically speaking, that's just something Funny Valentine says when he uses his stand. The stand itself is usually called D4C. No, but theoretically you could invite me to your world to help deal with your Crimson problem. I would need payment though, namely that you say good things about Xenoblade.
  23. I defeated the boss of the Jungle Temple without too much trouble, so I could theoretically begin the endgame of Terraria now. Maybe I'll try out the Frost and Pumpkin Moons first (and the Martian Invasion if I can activate it), and take the opportunity to upgrade my equipment. What, you don't want to keep Flaccid Pancake (aka Limp Bizkit), the greatest name that ever graced fiction? The next part should have a group of villains with stands named after Weird Al Yankovic songs.
  24. If it makes you feel better, something similar happened with me... well my base was fine, but I made a Mushroom biome for the Truffle villager, but it was too close to the Crimson so he didn't move in. I'll have to fix that soon. My desert was also Crimsonized, but my world has a pyramid that prevented the Crimson from spreading to my base. You might also be interested to know that spreading out your villagers has benefits, like making items less expensive if shopkeepers are in biomes they like or if they're around villagers they like. I recommend looking into pylons, which allow you to make a teleportation network around the world if you arrange your villagers correctly. The gun in question (the Clentaminator) is bought from the Steampunker, who appears after defeating a mechanical boss. The Clentaminator and its ammo are pretty expensive so keep that in mind.
  25. In the meantime, you can hear it in English first: I know Kira Buckland was very outspoken about her desire to voice Jolyne, so I wonder how many people she had to hold hostage to make it happen. There are a lot of JoJo fans involved with this part, aren't there?
