The two things don't necessarly contradict one another. It is true that I'm not directly responsable for the banners, since I'm not the one who creates them. And I'm in favor of less seasonals, for more actual new characters. At the same time I would enjoy more Fates content. Mainly Charlotte. And a Fates Brave hero. And the beasts. And more kids. And another Hinoka alt... okay now I see your point. I am among the ones who pull when Fates gets new content, so I'm sending the data at IS that new content from Fates is acceptable. But in my defense I pull on every banner anyway, until I get at least one unit. I didn't stop pulling on the Laguz before I got Nailah. Same thing with the banner before and seasonal Gunnthra. Same thing for the banner before and seasonal Fae. Same thing for the Legendary Azura banner until I got seasonal Young Tiki. Or did I get her on the legendary Hrid banner? I don't remember. And I also pulled on the Surtr banner until I got him, but in my defense I was looking for Ylgr, he pity broke me. In hindsight I'm glad he pitybroke me. I don't know how I would survive in AR without him. Anyway going back to the point, I never said I don't want Fates to get more content. I don't know where you got that idea.

Okay, I'm officially an idiot, or I need some sleep. Now I get what you meant. Yes, this year I helped Brave Camilla (assuming she wins, it's not over yet), so I guess with Veronica it makes two characters I decided. Initially I wanted to vote only for Tanith, than to vote for a combination of characters I like, but once you see the results it's difficult to not switch to a character you like who has a fair shot for the top 2.

Well, I helped Lute for sure the first year, but I don't remember much else. The second time I was among those that voted Brave Veronica into existence, so you've got me there.

I dunno. What I meant is that Awakening still appeared on seasonals, with Bride Tharja, Summer Noire and Cordelia. You can say that only 3 ain't bad, but only 3 seasonals is still more seasonals than 0. Jugdral would kill for 3 seasonals.

0 characters from Awakening and Fates won last year, and yet here we are, with a lot of alts for them at every Seasonal. At this point I want to believe that the reason was that since they couldn't put any characters from the Fates games on the brave banner, they gave them seasonals to compensate as a consolation prize to their fans. Which means, that if Camilla gets 3rd place with only a few votes short to 2nd place AGAIN, they may wanna give her fans even more "consolation prizes". By that logic it would be better for the community if she won. And honestly you say that Fates is overepresented, which is kind of true, but only in seasonals. Because Fates actually got the same number of New Heroes banners as Geneaology last year. The fact IS doesn't want to stop doing more and more seasonal is the real problem, not the fact that there are enough Camilla fans to make her win the popularity contest. And that problem wouldn't be resolved by kicking Camilla out of the top 2 to make space for other characters who also have seasonals. It seems that we can only agree to disagree, since many people are making Camilla to be the boogeyman of every problem with seasonals, when in my opinion that's an over-simplified way to look at the problem. It's way more complicated than just Camilla and just this stupid CYL. Also, a little thing that I want to add. You say that one group (the Fates fans) is getting better treatment, which is true. But a part of that group is frustrated, even with all the special treatment we get. Frustrated because we aren't taken seriously. Because every other game released internationally (+ Binding) has won a brave alt, except our game. I see some toxic people clamoring to keep "all the Fates sh*t" out of the top for this CYL, and every other CYL in the future. Like we don't deserve to be part of the CELEBRATION that is the Brave Heroes. As if Camilla would stick out and be a disrace next to Marth and Alm, already assuming that she will be only fanservice, like a serious Queen of Nohr version is impossible. It's frustrating... I know a lot of people, I know IRL people who have Fates as their favorite game, and can recognize its flaws but still love it. They love the style, the thematic distinction between Hoshido and Nohr. We love to analize the characters, even if it means diggin through some bland supports. I have seen so many people that take Camilla very seriously and have wrote pages and pages about her complex character in Fates. We do NOT like to be ridiculed. And this is true even when the ridicule helps. I'm super mad at the 4chan morons that see us as a way to piss people off, and nothing more. I hate them almost as much as people who over simplify Fates as a whole and say that "only otaku degenerates" would like it. It's lke saying all of our passion and work doesn't matter because we will never be more than a joke to more "serious" FE fans. Or worse. Because when we aren't a joke we are an enemy. Flash news: if many people treat Fates fans as enemies, it may happen that some of them will start to act like they are, and actively ridicule older games, and becoming more and more toxic. And I'm not saying that it's your fault specifically, or even the fault of anyone on this site. But sometimes you can get more condescending than you think, and without even noticing you might say things that could be taken the wrong way. And yes, Jugdral and Tellius may receive less content, but every time that content comes no one makes fun of it. Many say they are not interested in it, because they don't know the characters, but they respect those who love them. When a Fates banner comes, even the one with Silas and Ophelia, I hear people say "man, was it really necessary IS?", or "another Fates banner ZZZZZZZ wake me when they give us something interesting". AND IT'S SO UNFAIR! On top of all that we have people that try to make us feel guilty for IS' mistakes, like it's our fault. Like we decide which banners get made. Breaking news, even us Fates fans would like longer breaks between content made for us. The orbs don't replenish themselves, y'know? Okay, I promise this is the last edit. I feel like I may actually go insane if I continue... I need to go scream in a pillow. I apologize for the huge rant, it's not your fault... It's just... after not one, not two, not ten, but dozens of people over the web calling me (since I voted Camilla, I take it personally) out, saying I'm selfish, or dumb, or that I'm making a mistake it just gets to me. And I feel the need to scream and say every single thing I didn't say to the dozens of people that came before you. And honestly, I have seen a lot more people who aren't toxic at all, who take things casually, or get super excited about the event in a positive way. Honestly the FE community doesn't deserve the reputation of being overly toxic IMHO. But the bad apples are really bad. REALLY BAD. You are right about one thing. The unfair treatment of older games is at the root of the problem. It causes the divide. And I don't know what we can do as fans of the newer games to make things better. And I also don't like the fact I'm taking the side of the newer games, like taking a side is crucial. I admit it, I played Awakening and Fates more than I played the Tellius and GBA games combined, not to mention the games I can only emulate. I am more on the casual side. But it's not like I hate old Fire Emblem... I don't even know what point I'm trying to make anymore. Oh yeah, I remembered one thing I wanted to point out. Please don't say stuff like "the CYL alt will bring 8th Camilla and 9th Camilla with her soon", and above all else don't say it tomorrow, if Camilla wins and people are happy. The truth is, you don't know, nor do I know, nor does anyone here see the future. And when people are happy and cheering the last thing they wanna hear is: "this thing that made you happy will have such consequences in the future, that you will regret it". It can really ruin the mood and make someone either sad or mad.

While I understand your point of view, I also get why they did this last time and why they are doing it again. They do it like this so the fans of only 1 game are invested in atleast 2/3 rounds. Imagine if Leif was against Owain, and Ethlyn against Lissa. And both Owain and Lissa instantly win. You would be left with no one to support after 2 days. Instead, if for example Leif wins, and then he loses in round 2, you will be invested for the 4 days in which he competes. Perhaps even all 6 days since he has a 50-50 chance of winning the second round. It makes some sort of twisted sense.

Voted for Tanith two times and Jeanne one time. After that, only Camilla. Whatever may happen, remember to stay civil. This is only a silly popularity contest after all, so no need to lose your cool. In fact try this little exercise with me. Pretend that not only your character lost, but the winners are the worst, and try to come to peace with their victory. And I mean Surtr levels of "the worst".

As I said, the 4chan people arrived only after mid-term. She climbed to first place on her own. If she ends up winning by 3 votes, than yes, the trolls would be who made the difference in the end. Which is why I hope she wins with a huge vantage, to avoid having to deal with a tainted victory. But perhaps you are right. Perhaps everything is tainted already. In that case I hope IS changes the rules for CYL4. I can't stand another event like this one.

I'm not against Robin fans who are happy they realized they have a chance. I'm not even mad at people who are now jumping to Anna or Eliwood. I find them and their fanarts awesome. It's just that I saw A LOT. A LOT. A LOT. A LOT. A LOT. A LOT of people, mostly on Reddit writing comments with a variation of "we can not let Camilla win". I can't help but feel skeptical of the effect those people may have on the voting. If you noticed I told people who already were fan of the elite 4 or who are neutral to spare a vote for them. I didn't ask fan of other characters to change their minds. If Robin wins, more power to her. I wouldn't mind a grandmaster Robin. And yet because of Alpharad and of the general shitty situation, her victory will be tainted somewhat. Also, I want to add that while the people on 4chan are scum (I wish I didn't click that link) that thread opened after mid-terms were out. Which means that trolls are not who put Camilla up there. At most they will help her stay there. If mid-terms were not posted, I would be supporting Tanith right now, or maybe switching to Patty or Jill. I wouldn't be helping Camilla, because she would not be needing my help. Maybe I'm overthinking this. Maybe Camilla has 10000 votes more than Micaiah and I'm worrying over nothing. Maybe there are way less dishonest voters than I think and I'm just judging the community harshly for no reason. The only thing I know for certain is that I can't wait to put CYL3 behind me. This event gets more stressfull every year.

You see. If Camilla was second place and ended up third, I would believe that Robin simply had more supporters. But if Camilla becomes the very first character to drop from 1st to 3rd we all know it will be because of the hatevotes. Let's not kid ourselves. And I don't know man, the mere fact that people still bring up the thot memes every time Ike fights a woman, or the fact every time a male wins the final against a female atleast one person calls him "the new Ike" is unsettling. You see, the problem with this analogy is that in our situation, we aren't denying the CYL alt to someone who never had a single cream puff. We are denying the cream puffs to Robin fans who had 2 cream puffs (4 if you are like me and love both Robins equally), Eirika fans who had 3, Azura fans who had 4, and Corrin fans who had either 2 or 4. If we had Julia from Genealogy in 3rd place, or even Anna, I could see the "help those who have nothing" argument winning me over. But that's not the case, so I don't particularly feel selfish, nor do I feel like I could help those in need by changing my votes.

The more I think about it, the more I want the top 4 to remain exactly as it is. I believe it will be the only way to avoid a disaster. If either Alm or Camilla drop to second place it sets a precedent that I don't like, with people on top at mid-term not being as safe as we thought. If Alm or Camilla drop to 3rd place, it will be World War III. People will get REALLY mad at IS because there will be proof that revealing the mid-term results SCREWED their character over. It will be especially bad in the case of Camilla because the hatebase proved time and again how obnoxious they can be. Remember the CYL voting gauntlet? Remember all the offensive Ike THOT SLAYER memes? I remember... poor Ike will never get that stain off his reputation, no matter how many blessed fans make fanart of Ike and Camilla being good friends. Plus another precedent that I don't want to be set is the hatebase "winning" anything. The kind of people who would vote against other people's happiness deserve to be losers. And yes, there are such losers even on Camilla's side, but honestly with how consistent her placing has been in previous CYL events and with 4 major competitors (Lucina, Lyn, Celica and Veronica) out of the picture I find believable that she would win even without the trolls. But I find less believable that she would lose without people specifically going against her. If Micaiah gets pushed out by Robin nobody will save Alpharad from the shitstorm. That poor fool doesn't deserve so much hate. Plus F!Robin as a character will get a ton of unnecessary hate too. Marth losing to Eliwood isn't as big of a deal, but it would still be bad. Almost winning two years in a row won't be pretty for his fans. What a mess... I really, really hope things stay as they are. If you are a Marth, Camilla, Alm or Micaiah fan give your last vote to them. If you haven't decided who to give your last vote to, consider helping the Elite 4. A vote for the Elite 4 is a vote for an healthier community.

However, tome Eirika was the first alt of its kind (or did horse Chrom come first?) which means people didn't know how to take it and were angry. Plus, it came in the MIDDLE of CYL2, which meant that we didn't have the time to get over it. Meanwhile, Adrift Camilla came after a lot of non-seasonal alts like Nino, Olivia and Reinhardt, and we were used to it. Plus it came months BEFORE CYL3 which gave us time to get over the irrational hate. That time might have saved Eirika.
