  1. That's another weird thing. Blaziken can either wait to lvl 66 or use a Heart Scale to get Flare Blitz, but it needs an Heart Scale to get High Jump Kick. Gardevoir can learn/relearn moonblast and stored power, but it needs an Heart Scale to get Misty Terrain and Healing Wish. (all those terrains are so confusing too with their main and hidden function) And does anyone have a tip on the quickest way to level up your pokemon(is the only option to go through the E4 again and again?)
  2. I noticed something interesting. It looks like a lot of fully evolved pokemon can learn moves up to an absurdly high level, but most of these moves can also be obtained through the use of Heart Scale since they're also level 1 move. Example: Gardevoir learns Moonblast at lvl 85, but I got it when mine was level 40 thanks to move relearner.
  3. I think Leafeon could be a nice alternative to Jolteon(his current movepool is pretty bare without BW tutors)
  4. I really appreciated the Reclass system in this game. Granted I only played on normal mode, but I still think that it allowed every character to be useful in some way and created a lot of replayability for me by giving us different ways to use different characters(I still like characters to be in their original tree though).
  5. Well, I guess I was going on a tangent here, but you did say that you hated Vaike despite people calling him underrated. You didn't specifically mention which characters you think are overrated(and Vaike sure isn't) or who you think are underrated. And as it was stated earlier on the thread, a character being over/underrated is completely independent of whether you like or dislike a character(I like Owain/Lucina/Chrom, but I agree that they are overrated in the fandom and I don't really dislike any playable characters in this game[Excellus derserves every ill in the world]). At least, I don't think that you stated who you think are over/underrated(It may just be my brain being short in sugar again). And thanks for the compliment :)
  6. From the way the game is set up, Maribelle doesn't seem like an original member of the Sheperds, the only character she knew beforehand being Lissa, Chrom and Ricken(if I remember correctly). Also the game makes it seems like characters are just getting to know each other in a lot of support so that you 'discover' those characters at the same time. And doesn't Vaike change his mind about Maribelle at the end of their support? Do you hate Sumia then that's battling even though she can't walk without tripping, thus putting others in danger thanks to her clumsiness? Or how Yarne is a danger to everyone since he can flee without warning? Or that Nowi's and Cynthia's childlike disposition are a distraction to the rest of the army?. You may hate Vaike because of his negligence, but plenty of things in this game doesn't make sense in terms of real-life military. Just because those things makes you dislike the guy doesn't mean that it'll make other people dislike him too.
  7. In this case, you might want to use either the exact Sylveon proposed by Pr. Paletuna(minus the nature) or use the same moves she proposed, but with this EV spread:252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 Spe
  8. Well, Maribelle does seem pretty stuck up on first impression, so he's not being classist, he's just judging Maribelle on what he knows of her. Also I think you're taking too far with the Military disrespect. Sure in a real army, he would have been heavily punished, but we're talking about a ragtag bunch of fighters that include young people that transform in dragons, someone who constantly trip, killer bunnys and an strangely unnoticeable man in heavy armor.
  9. Looks like eevee teams are getting popular I'm no comp expert, but I'll give it a try. Sylveon: First, I think that you should remove draining kiss. The HP drain is nice, but the move has too little power to make it worth using IMO. Also, you may want to replace psyshock by Shadow Ball. Yes, it's not SE against poison, but it's neutral against steel types that would other wise wall you completely. You may want to try this build: Moves: Substitute, Calm Mind, Moonblast, Shadow Ball EV: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SpA It gives you a somewhat tanky Sylveon that has the chance to become an offensive force if given the opportunity. For Umbreon, you may want to remove one of the 2 dark move and replace it by substitute, the ability to toxic people and regen with moonlight goes well with it. For Vaporeon, you could replace Hydro Pump by Surf since accuracy is often more important than power and replace toxic by aqua ring. Together with protect and leftovers, your vaporeon should be able to take some hits(especially if you give him more Def EVs)
  10. Alright! I'll work on my Eevee team(Pokemon Colosseum and XD made me like the Eeveelutions a lot) and I'll challenge you when it's ready :) While Flame Body has been awesome in-game for me, in a battle against a player, it fall short in comparison to Gale Wings. Flame Body works well on a pokemon that will get hit frequently and Talonflame doesn't have the bulk to take multiple hits. Gale Wings, on the other hand, complements Talonflame's fragile speedster stat spread and gives him a unique niche.
  11. This video shows well one substitute strat. Substitute can be viable as long as you have a way to get your life back. The video showed one strat where the harvest ability+Sitrus and leech seed were used, bu others rely on abilities like poison heal, ice body, rain dish and items like leftovers. A sub strat can be a core part of a Stall team. Also, you should have better odds in battle after beating the E4. You get access to the Friend Safaris and all their perfect IV and hidden ability pokemon and you should have accest to a wider amount of TMs which can be very useful to balance your pokemons. I added your friend code for your Safari, but since I'm currently training lots of pokemon, including some eeveelutions, I could battle your eevee team if you still wish to do so when I'll have finished training them. My FC is 3668-7717-7336 and my Friend Safari is Shuppet, Pumpkaboo and Golurk if you want to add me.
  12. It's in the very first 'room' of route 20(aka winding woods) when you enter from Snowbelle city.
  13. I have no idea how this is possible beside that your 3DS clock is set at a different time. I saw on google that some had the same problem in earlier games, but nobody really seemed to know how and why it happened.
  14. I don't see where you get that Vaike is sexist and classist. I was looking quickly through his support and saw nothing that would suggest that he's sexist. As for the Classist aspect, considering he grew up in a slum it could be understood, but in his B support with Lissa, he states that Chrom made him realize that not all highborn are pompous and that people from different social standing can be friend. As for the not fit for army part, this game isn't really strong on military realism. That's pretty much how I feel about the characters in this game. As I stated before, I appreciate in some measure every character in this game and don't think that one character of pairing is objectively the best since those things are extremely subjective. I have my favorites(which should be apparent due to my Avatar and sig) but I don't think they're the best characters/pairing in the game, they just have a higher value in my eyes due to my personality and opinions. And after looking through some sites, I can say that Chrom, Lucina and Tharja also part of the overrated club, but the king is still Owain. In Chrom and Lucina's case, their popularity is a bit too overblown even if they're the lords of the game(will be using Smash again, but claiming that Chrom and Lucina should replace Marth and Ike is a thing in certain circles). As for Tharja, I definitely think that she gets way more love than her character and role in the story would suggest, but then again, that's just my opinion.
  15. You don't even need that picture. You meet a strange adult man in a room alone where he tells you it's bonding time before the screen fades to black. How the heck this thing get pas the filter.
  16. Volcanion is a supposed legendary that isn't even out yet. No idea how people can put that in the GTS when I couldn't even ask for an Aaron due to me not seeing one.(heck I saw someone asking for a Gatomon)
  17. I found a picture that pretty much summarize how I feel about him:
  18. Really love this Metroid remix.
  19. I can't think of a character that I completely hate in this game. All of them have some form of redeeming quality. I disliked Kjelle at the start, but after doing her support and seeing her Harvest conv, I find her more likable.
  20. Just putting that out there: I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who found Mr. Bonding extremely creepy, right?
  21. Wow, you're lucky I had a lot of trouble finding someone that would do a 1:1 Metal Coat Scyther, so that fact that you got one by Wonder Trade looks like a miracle(especially with all the people on the GTS that are asking a Volcanion for theirs)
  22. I find it difficult to coin something as overrated or underrated since it depends a lot on opinion. Some people will call a character overrated because he finds it exaggerated that so many people like one character while he's neutral about said character. On the other hand, people will call underrated a character they really like that isn't appreciated enough for according to them. By trying to curb my opinions as much as possible and based on what I saw of the fan-base, I think that Owain is the only true overrated character. I really like Owain and he made me laugh several times, but I think the amount of hype he has is just mind-boggling. Just the fact that some want a secondary character to be in Smash over the lord(s) of the game is proof enough that people are going too far. As far as underrated character goes, the only character I observed to be unfairly hated are Maribelle and Vaike. I personally dislike no character i this game, so the idea that some would hate a character to the point of killing him ASAP seems weird to me. Both these characters can make a bad first impression, but doing their support shows their good side, especially Maribelle(I find her hilarious in some supports). There's surely some other underrated characters that I'm forgetting, but these 2 seemed fit the underrated condition the most. As for other overrated characters, I cannot really say. I've seen Tharja, Chrom and Lucina names in this thread, but Owain just seems to blow everyone out of the water.
  23. From what I gathered, this women gives you 4 TM depending on when you talk to her. I think you have to talk to her morning(substitute), day(double team), evening(flamethrower) and night(Psych Up).
  24. IGN's articles have left me pretty unimpressed recently, but this one was OK and is relevant to the subject. http://ca.ign.com/articles/2013/10/23/how-pokemon-xy-could-make-a-ruby-remake-great And be sure to read the 1st comment, it gives an interesting image of what a RSE sequel could look like. My take on this is skewed by the fact that Sapphire and Emerald are the first pokemon game I owned (I played through Blue on an emulator and started but never finished Gold on emulator). I really loved those games. I saw some people thrash the design of the pokemon, but some of my favorite pokemons come from that gen(including but not limited to Sceptile, Metagross, Gardevoir, Blaziken, Aggron and Anorith). The secret base were a pretty fun idea that also helped you level up pokemon and I still think that the contest from these games are the best of their kind(Super Contest, Pokeathlon, Musical, Movie making). And they are currently the only region you cannot access with a DS(I count Kanto as available because of HGSS). Moreover, there are plenty of little hints throughout X&Y that let's you think that a RSE remake could happen. Slightly off-topic here: I've heard some interesting speculation that the Strange Souvenir could be a reference to either a completely new region or to a region close to Kalos that would contain other 'Gen 6' pokemon(the traditional legendary trio is completely absent and Zygarde seems like it could really use a alt-form). And I saw a pretty decent argument about why Mega-evos are better than evolution. As someone I sadly can't remember said if you give an overlooked pokemon an evolution to make it more relevant, chances are that while the evolution may get some attention, the pre-evo will be just as ignored as before(Yanma for example). But if you give a pokemon like Mawhile a Mega-Evo, it makes Mawhile itself more relevant.
