  1. Dang. I just really don't enjoy it, from a personal fun-factor point of view. But that's just my opinion, I don't debate Nihil's importance to balance, just fun. For me personally, of course. Still looking forward to playing it later though. I've been waiting for a fresh twist on RD for a long time. But on the previous subject, that sounds like a decent way to do it. Nerfing activation and not the skills themselves. Skill was always kind of a weak stat for a character to thrive in, since by the time units had masteries, they all had very high skill, and for the most part, hit% was on the high side if you watched your biorhythm. I look forward to trying it all firsthand.
  2. I don't dislike any fe protagonists, but Ike is definitely the favorite. He's hard-headed and rough, but still witty, and doesn't need absolutely everything explained to him like a lot of other characters with similar personalities. I can get into the story every time I play, and I love the BK. Even RD messed up in a couple places, BK in particular, that cutscene where he runs after Ike is my absolute favorite story moment in any fe game. Also love the gameplay, good maps, characters are all fun to use, good and bad. I love the support dialogue as well. Love 4-8 as well. Still enjoy the rest, all of them really. Just not quite on the same level.
  3. PoR, second playthrough, looked it up. I like for my first playthrough to be blind, but afterwards I'll look up everything. RD, first try, no guide, but this is because I just assumed as soon as I saw the desert and I let Lethe scour the map.
  4. I didn't see it in the first post, so forgive me if I missed it. But are you doing anything with skills, masteries in particular? In the vanilla game a lot of them seemed to be glorified OHKOs. Also, I may be the only one who feels this way, but I hate Nihil, on both player and enemy side. I feel like it destroys any tension felt during Ike vs BK, unlike PoR. I mean, what's the point of a boss even having a skill if the only fight he'll be in is against Nihil. I like the sounds of what you've done so far though, after I get my usb loader Wii back up, I'll give it a go and post opinions/comments on the changes.
  5. Milady for sure. She's cute, extremely usable, and I have to use her or else I won't care when its time to fight Gale. Also she stole Ray's HM gains for no reason at all. I like all of these options though. Wyvern riders have always been blessed with likable characters, even if fe7's are slightly lacking in usefulness.
  6. Igrene, for being one of very few decent prepromos in fe6. I was thinking Klein must be better because he has HM gains, but even with them his stats are about the same as her's. She's also pretty good looking. Also like Klein, Rebecca, Dorothy, Louise, Innes and Neimi, decent stats, easy on the eyes. Not trying to hate on Wil and Wolt, but I'm never pleased by their stats. Always slower than their female counterparts, and they don't have high enough strength to make up for it. Defense is a little better, but most of my archers only get hit by magic anyways. Or other archers, which I want them to double, or worse, nomads that can double them.
  7. Lott. His growths make no sense as a fighter, or any class really, so he's really fun to raise to max level. I think all of the fighters are kinda bad, but iffy units make subsequent playthroughs more fun. Its a challenge, and its entertaining when one of them surprises you and turns out great.
  8. I think we're pretty much stuck with an avatar at this point. I feel like the best thing to do is just downplay the avatar's importance to the plot. I don't hate Awakening/Fates plot, but focusing on a self-insert just weakens the plot overall. But I could only picture them doing this in a remake. Future entries are probably doomed to self-insert storytelling.
  9. I agree with Loki Laufeyson's post. Mark should be playable, but his/her stats should not be too good. You should be able to alter boon/bane, starting weapon, and second weapon upon promotion. You get to age/alter your avatar when moving to fe6. No reclassing of any kind. Maybe, MAYBE, branching poromotions. Marriage only occurs in the Epilouge, not mid-war. Your own marriage should only occur in fe6, and should be limited, like a normal fe6 support list. Minimal changes to fe7's gameplay. Fe6, change weapons to be consistent to fe7's, and probably buff a few characters, low-level joiners and prepromos. But not too much. Better bases for non-Percy prepromos, and some extra levels for characters like Sophia, Wendy and Cath. Returning characters could get bonuses like in RD, but it isn't necessary.
  10. I hope no one's annoyed that I keep replying to these threads. Anyways, I voted Lowen. I love the guy. He's a bit of a dork, and he works really hard just to keep up. I like Wil, but I prefer to believe Lowen is Wolt's father, just because I really like that Rebecca's the only one who says he's a hero. Gameplay-wise, I like him just because he always turns out drastically different in every playthrough, for better or worse. He's a very fun character to compare across multiple playthroughs. Honorable mentions to Perceval for having the hottest portrait in fe6. Forde and Sain as well for having fun supports.
  11. Fir. My reasoning is extremely poor this time. She's cute, and I like her color-pallet. Nothing else really, won't pretend she's well-written, or worth using over Rutger. I like all the myrms though, I use them often, even Karla about every 4 playthroughs.
  12. Personality or statistics, I give both to Hector. I love inequalities, so here you are; Character; Hector>Lyn>Ephraim>Eliwood>Eirika>Roy I may take a little flak for this, but I feel like Eliwood, Eirika, Roy and Marth are the same character in different stories. Not that I necessarily dislike this character, but it's become predictable, and I judge them moreso for their personal struggles and stories than their personalities. Gameplay; Hector>Ephraim>Lyn>Eirika>Roy>Eliwood This is from personal experience, not actual numbers. Otherwise Roy would be dead-last if not for good ol' dad dropping the ball in just about every playthrough. The only stat he ever exceeds in for me is speed, his worst(?) cap.
  13. Voted Legault. Statistically prefer giving him the Fell Contract, and love his supports. I do like Matt, just prefer Legault. Also like many others, HATE Cath. She was so bad that we didn't get another female thief for 3 games. She could've joined much earlier, had better stats, or been more likable. Everybody else on the poll has at least one of these qualities, and even Heather is at least likable. But not her.
  14. Personally I dislike changing a character's stats and growths. It removes their individuality and spoils some of the fun in comparing stats between multiple playthroughs. I would like it a lot more if it only changed max-stats, animations and weapon-levels. Sadly I carry this complaint into Awakening and Fates. There's a reason I've replayed 4 and 6-9(10 excluded due to almost everyone hitting caps, 5 for low caps+scrolls) so many times. I may be alone in this, but I love being able to compare a character between multiple playthroughs.
  15. I agree with this. Shadow Dragon pretty much burned the bridge for any possibility of remakes. The odds of FE4/5 getting remade were already low, and Shadow Dragon probably didn't make IS feel any more confident in remakes. I kind of feel like FE6 is still possible, if for nothing else, Smash continues to raise Roy awareness. But I still think it's unlikely.
  16. Those are super-cute. After the contest is over, if any of our submitters have stores, I'd love to see links. No hard feelings if they wanna hang on to their submissions or give them out themselves though.
  17. Forum lurker/rom-hack enthusiast here. Gotta say this has been one of the most fun demos I've played in a long time, and probably the most promising hack I've seen, period. Good sprite-work, excellent gameplay, and possibly most importantly, great storytelling and likable characters. Take your time, but stay motivated, because you've got a great thing going here.
  18. I am not in favor of the skinship feature, however I'm very against it's removal. I want to play a translation of a Japanese game, not an American version of a Japanese game. I know that this is not a new issue, brought up recently, but it has been getting worse and worse. Art should not be censored for different audiences. A change here or there, so that we can understand the joke, or relate to the situation, sure. A complete cut, or butchering of a feature present in game? Not so much. I'm pretty disappointed with how times have changed. Gamers used to be up in arms against censorship. Now half of us applaud it while the other half roll over and accept it as the norm.
  19. Damn. Well maybe I'll look into it later. Thanks though.
  20. So I was on the Gecko site looking for some Radiant Dawn codes. There's three I'm looking for and I found one. Basically I wanted to remove the stat caps(found that code), while increasing all enemy growths and removing the Nihil skill, or making it do nothing. I didn't find anything related to skills or enemy stats in those regards. I figure at worst with Nihil I can individually modify everyone who starts with it and avoid the scroll myself, but if there's an easier way I'd love to hear it. As for enemies I didn't see anything about changing their growths, or anyone else's for that matter. I didn't even see anything about raising enemies base stats. If anyone can help me, or knows somewhere else I should look for codes I'd appreciate it. I just want a new way to play the game.
