Anyway, I'd say the question posed in the topic is meaningless without context, because like was said earlier, one alone tends to not work well without the other. Of course, speed is another thing to take into consideration, and probably more important than either.

In concept, high HP and not too crazy Def/Res. Attrition should be something that you have to account for, and so should the amount of HP that a healer can restore (in particular when they have to use Physic instead of Mend). A character that can just no-sell everything, solo an entire map segment with no further consideration and then keep moving on their own is boring.

As long as that point isn't reached, it depends on how much Atk the enemies have and how exactly the X-HKOs work out. I'm boring like that. ;):
