  3. exactly when did this thread become neptunia general
  4. Then I bow to your insight on the matter. I'm not white, and I have spent more of my life out of the workforce than in it. I derived that opinion from articles like what you mentioned and interviews with people, mainly in the rust belt, and believe it because it seems like a more realistic explanation for why there was a large Trump turnout than the majority of nearly 60 million americans being racist, sexist or some combination thereof. Perhaps that's naivete, but I'll keep from speaking on this until I've talked to several Trump supporters myself and come to a thorough understanding of why they voted the way they did.
  5. No this was anything but usual conservatism. Trump split the party very intensely, Republicans at all levels of the party broke away from it just because of his personality. The people that won Trump the election (working-class whites) voted him because he is the first candidate in a long time to speak directly to them, by making a sell for bringing manufaturing jobs back by any means necessary. The republican party has long catered to these voters via their stances on social views but I believe that is a misunderstanding of what the working-class white demographic prioritizes. Are they generally anti-gay rights, anti-abortion, etc? Yes. But are those things the most important things to them? I think this election showed us that it is not, that they feel far more threatened by the economic shift away from local production that has not been addressed in decades than whatever social issues progressives consider to be the most important items of the day. The elements UNLEASH IT brought up are important too. The culture of American liberalism has proven to be dehumanizing in its own way toward opposition, and it's not surprising that when you mock a group long enough as backwards ignorant rednecks, they get a bit upset. I voted Clinton because I believe that Trump's policies will not return manufacturing jobs to the US, or really accomplish anything he promised. I think the country is in too deep as a consumer economy, but what do i know i live in a california suburb where the job market is mostly warehouse work i dont really know shit about manufacturing or what its like in these areas that voted trump so maybe they saw something in his promises that i didnt
  6. of course its subjective, what im asking you to do is show me a view that would change my own im an open minded man, and if you have anything to share that you feel is a more accurate perception of the truth than my own, I'd like to know it Depending on the situation, hunting humans is not the wrong thing to do In regard to humanity, if the individual's actions are to the detriment of the collective, the detrimental action must be stopped. We are very very careful about the details of what it means to be detrimental and how we stop other humans because it sets precedents for conditions in which the collective would be in the "right" to stop ourselves Thats all the grey nebulous area that is actually complicated because there are meaningful implications for every individual in the collective depending on how things are handled The killing or harming of non-humans meanwhile has no stakes for the individual or the collective of humanity, precisely because animals are not members of our society, the human collective So I'm asking you, what harm does it do to kill for sport provided the killings are not endangering the species and thus ruining something that might be good for us? i admit i glazed over a lot of your previous posts in this thread but i promise i am paying attention now
  7. missed your edit there compadre Of course it isn't black and white, I said as much when I mentioned there is plenty of debate on what falls into categories of right and wrong. But if you think that the nature of ethics is different than what I've described then elucidate me with your own view on the intended function of things being right and wrong at all. When did I ever argue that all hunting is responsible hunting? I firmly believe irresponsible hunting should be stopped with the same intensity as any crime against humanity, but like a crime it must be proven to be damaging before there can be a conviction. What is your proof that the killing of animals without endangering their species is as harmful to humanity as hunting them to extinction? ??? im just trying to figure how you tick on this subject man, sorry if my questions come off as stupid but you didnt really give me much to work with at first blush Well then I got nothing else to say to you except I think that your moral standards are silly and im sorry you have to live thinking of yourself as imperfect for optimizing your survival
  8. If I was the object of a hunt then I'm just shit out of luck aren't I? I'd curse my existence for being weak enough to allow this to happen and then die, cause there is nothing else I can do. This isn't a "haughty" attitude, this is a practical one. What gain is there for humanity in affording other life a luxury? The only reasonable answer is that it is to our benefit to do so. You talk about living up to some moral ideal, that a ""superior"" being should have ""humility"" but what worth is there in doing that? And why does your worldview get to be inconsistent about the value of a life? me - everything's life is acceptable to take as long as it isnt to humanitys detriment you - it's conditional, it's ok if its plants, its ok if its insects, its ok if its for eating SOMETIMES, but as soon as you can feel bad for it, now it's not ok? How do you justify that? yeah but why what bad does it do to anyone what if i kick a dog thats coming at me foul, is that cruel
  9. Huh? What's the moral objection to killing for sport? An action is only unethical as long as its to the detriment of the human race, the whole point of "right and wrong" is to create a system where behaviors that perpetuate and develop humanity are rewarded and behaviors that stunt, damage or endanger humanity are punished. There is plenty of room for debate on what actions fall into which category and when, but I can't imagine a single way that responsible hunting (hunting that doesn't endanger the ecosystem and potentially cost us valuable resources that can't be replaced) is to humanity's detriment. Argue this to me man cause just saying you dont like cause you dont like it is some frivoulous stuff
  10. Heaven's Feel defense force stopping by to remind fools that HF was best route and Sakura best grill
  11. Not "who", "what". Everything is practicality. It's not like I'm against non-humans being treated well, but what justifies the effort in doing so if it is not of clear benefit to our species? There is no problem with hunting for sport, so long as it does not damage the human species or things that can be to our benefit. I don't advocate creating inbalance in the natural system because the opposite is typically better for us anyway. You can't start creating "acceptable" limits for something you deem entirely unethical, it's either wrong and shouldn't be done or it isn't. If the basis of hurting animals being wrong is because we can relate to them, is that not vanity? Is it ok to pick something sentient apart limb by limb if it doesnt feel pain? It's pure vanity, and if anyone is taking the time to boast about being "superior" it's you, boasting of the luxury you have being able to care about what non-humans feel while people in this world struggle to survive. I don't care what animals feel because saying I do would make me a hypocrite as I continue to participate in a civilization that cannot function without taking non-human life. Suffering is inevitable, and I'd rather keep my shit straight then pretend I care as I go day in and day out using the death of other life to enjoy myself. If it matters to you that much, then come up with some way to live without taking any life at all.
  12. yeah one part squirrel, two parts sidewinder, and all ham gr8 i got u at the end of the month

  14. my favorite sandwich is all the good ones i love sandwiches from ice cream cookie sandwiches to philly cheesesteaks to BLTs to tortas to the timeless PB and J cant make me choose one
  15. youre damn skippy its only a question of interest and convenience i dont give not two shits about how much animals suffer or feel pain because i like having animal products and before you try and turn this on me then let me ask you: is it ok to kill insects or plants? those termites are just trying to live in your house, dawg! why you exterminating them like that??? that spider is just trying to make a living in your closet bro! its even cleaning up other pests, why you down it with a shoe??? plants have a life of their own and some even communicate to each other via chemicals, i dont see you boycotting plant-products or calling salads murder if all life is equal then dont treat things better just because they have a face if you want to live without taking life, try eating rocks when that doesnt work out for you you can join the rest of us in trying to optimize the use of this planets resources and accepting that non-human death and suffering at our hands is needed to keep the lights on
  16. my pure image silly yea im a lyrical genius (not really i stole that lol) you know i can only speak the TROOF
  17. this is really simple as long as hurting the animals isnt to the detriment of the human race, it doesnt really matter what you do to em however, some ways in which animals are mistreated is societys loss -hunting animals to extinction or to a point that endangers them is usually bad for humans because it can negatively impact the local ecosystem in an unpredictable way, causing us to lose out on something that might have been valuable in said ecosystem that we didnt know about -putting animals in inhumane conditions in animal testing is usually not good either since animals under heavy stress or otherwise damaged provide results that cant be generalized well, so its in our best interest to make sure they are healthy -farms that raise massive amounts of livestock usually try to optimize efficiently converting to product, but this can easily result in damage to the local enviroment due to the mass amount of blood urine and waste that arent taken care of. therefore making sure the animals and their waste is effectively taken care of is to our benefit generally hurting animals unintelligently isnt in our best interest so congrats animal lovers, you win this one
