  1. Hey, another Dutchie. Funny how our experiences don't match up at all. Most places are now smoke free, and it is really, really noticable to me if it is not. Again, it is mainly to protect people in their working environment, nothing else. Especially in places that are open during daytime, or where food is served, it seems to be somewhat socially accepted that you don't smoke anymore. Smoking still happens in a few instances; 1) smoking areas or outside, this is legal of course, 2) in larger clubs by people that think that can get away with it in a large crowd (not very social if a place actually tries to abide by the law) and 3) some cafés and other clubs outright ignore the prohibition, and risk a fine. Haven't seen much of number 3 as of late though.
  2. That is the hardest place to be in. As others here have said, it can be good to talk to third parties who are not too close once in a while. It is often easier for a stranger to be polite, yet objective, I guess. Also, it helps to talk; but even better, it helps to write it down (like you did here). Emotions / feelings are often abstract, and by putting them into words, you understand them a little better, and by this transformation, you take away some of their power. Do not be disgusted by yourself! If you truly love someone, them is definitely the breaks. Most people will say "find someone else, move on, kbye", but it is not always that easy. 8 years is a long time. Just to relate, I've been having similar feelings for someone for 4 years, and know they probably won't go away for a while. What makes it worse is that I briefly had the taste so sweet under my fingertips, just like you. I didn't recognise it for what it was until it was too late. Talk about major f-up. And now I can only watch from afar, that person in someone else's arms (a cheating lying s of a b no less), kissing in cheap bars, and my mind mind conjuring up "what if..." fantasies that lead a life of their own, painting ideal pictures that probably would not have been true either way.
  3. Oh wait, that makes sense, I just didn't pay enough attention, I see now that Aura is a plain B-rank tome. I threw away Merric because he couldn't use that particular tome, but Linde could use it while she was extremely low leveled. So I was confused, as her class was just "mage" too. I then wrongly assumed it was a type of magic that only female mages could use, but immediately stalled the tome in my convoy of course for keepsakes / powerful weapon collection never to lay eyes on it again. Halp, I thought this was like the ultimate basic Fire Emblem that I could play through without thinking with so many years these games under my belt (naive, I know, though these last few chapters aren't hard at all so far). . Well, everything I learn this first playthrough will help a lot when I attempt hard mode the first time.
  4. Thanks, peops. I won't do class changes this run anymore. I already had the omnious feeling that sooner or later I would need light magic, so I'll just make her a bishop then. My core team now consists of Cain, Abel, Ogma, Wolf, Navarre, Beck and Caeda. My Caeda is a winged killer goddess, she can almost solo these maps (unlike units like Cain & Abel, because their dodge and defense seem on the low side). Then there is some side figures. I backtracked a little through my old saves to use Julian, as he seems to be quite useful after all with so many chests. I was also thinking of adding Tiki and Xane just for fun factor.
  5. Hmpf. Lena, do you guys n gals think she is good? Suffering from the Lena archetype, she is my default staves user. But now she has actually pretty decent stats and hitting level 20 (I'm on chapter 19), is she worth the Master Seal upgrade to a Bishop? I'm not really using any other magical types.
  6. Thanks, that sounds comforting, because this game has many wyvern riders in annoying place and I don't feel like levelling up another bow person. With FE6, FE7, FE9 and later games I always looked at growth stats before playing. With this one I thought I would be ultra cool to not do that. It makes the game much tougher yo.
  7. Smoking in restaurants, pubs, clubs or wherever was banned years back over here because of working environments. You can however have a completely seperate room / smoking area where personnel does not need to go for work. The reasoning here is that people who go to work at such places, should not get cancer or other short or longterm ailments from doing so. I tend to agree.
  8. Don't spoil ;). Yeah but he looks cool. I thought he was girl at first though. ETA: he must be getting RNG blessed btw, he really shines so far.
  9. I would spend my last day drinking and eating with loved ones. Smoothies of doom.
  10. RIP Merric RIP Minerva You will remain in the Oasis of Magic forever. May I never ever use you ever again.
  11. I always have a problem playing the games back to back. It is just weird to first play 6 and then 7 (storywise), or first 7 and then 6 (gameplay wise). . But they are both great games in their own right I guess. Actually, they might be my favorite games like, ever. Except for that hateful slow Lyn mode in 7.
  12. Hi, Formally introducing myself to these boards. I'm the Spikey, 31, from the Netherlands. I used to be active on FESS before it went to Limbo. I was an idiot back then, I think (some things never change). Playing through Shadow Dragon, I was reminded of the elegance of Fire Emblem, and how it is one of my absolute favorite game series. And how no man is an island, so here I am.
  13. I am on my first playthrough of this game. I killed of Frey out of nostalgia. My Gordin though turned out absolutely useless, so I replaced him with Wolf. I didn't look at any kind of growth stats beforehand, so I wonder where I'll end up.
  14. ^ Knoll party, I think; *starts knolling around in a corner*
  15. Congrats! Very respectable, keep up the good job. Am an old FESSer too who never posts, but oh, well, still die hard FE fan after 10 years.
  16. I named average 20/20 stats to show potential; even if they don't get there. Doesn't speed count double into attack speed and thus directly into avoid? But yeah, I ignored Lowen's luck makes more than up for his lack of speed when it comes to avoid, because it should turn out awesome. Maybe I misjudge him after all these bad runs and should give him a try again. The biggest problem is still his skill though. It could be as hard to see Lowen > Kent as Kent > Lowen, depending on what one likes.
  17. So Lowen's horribly average 20/20 speed (19) entirely surpasses Kent's (26) because of supports? That can't be right. Not to mention that Lowen's HP is only 4 higher than Kent's on average, and Lyn-mode Kent's resistance is on par with Lowen's on average. No, Kent is definately more durable than Lowen, no matter how we twist or turn it. I'm not a fan of either Kent or Sain, but the statistics speak for themselves.
  18. My advice: throw Knoll in the garbage bin. It's not worth it. Sell your precious guiding ring for some cash, and ask if they want to adopt Knoll for a few golds extra. If I don't train Ewan to be a Druid, I usually do use Knoll. Just because he looks cool and his supports with Lute are hilarious. And, I love dark magic.
  19. On average, Lowen just sucks. He has the worst skill, strength and speed of the three. Okay, he doesn't really need speed then, but what good is HP and DEF if he can't even hit anyone accurate enough, and even if does, does almost no damage? Never use him. Kent is an okay-ish character, especially compared to Isadora and Marcus (cause boy, do they suck), but he has potential to become the suckiest unit in your army. Sain is definately the one with the most potential; this is mainly because of his strength, and other stats that are okay-ish on average. His strength turns out 10 points higher than Kent's on average, and even more than 10 points higher when compared to Lowen. Yeah, his HP won't shine, but it's enough for a cavalier, his skill is as sucky as Isadora's, but not as sucky as Lowen's. He loses in DEF only to Lowen, his resistance is only somewhat lower than the others, his luck is almost as good as Isadora's (though not as good as Lowen's), and Kent and Isadora are only a littlebit speedier. Oh, and he supports with Rebecca. What more do you want. He has an annoying personality though, good reason to bench him if you're not interested in playing strategically.
  20. Hi. Old FESS-er here. So I joined just before the serverproblems started. Here I am again,. . My first few posts were mainly in the serious discussion forum, so I guess it's a good thing they're all gone. EDIT: Oh and I even recovered my old geoffray avatar, for those who may remember it.
  21. Crystal, it's nice to see you here. And myself as well. We were a good combination over at the FESS controversial discussion forums.
