...am I doing it wrong, or is it just unappealing? So far I've only played Awakening and the 3 GBA games and in each of those, I didn't like the late game part (it wasn't as bad in awakening tho).
It just isn't as fun as the early-mid game for me. On early game you have a lot of new lvl 1+ characters, not knowing how good they are and if they will amaze you with great growths. The chapters are also less annoying. Sure, the hit % sucks at times and some parts rely on luck, but the enemies have the same problems you do, give nice exp and dont have over 60 hp and 24 def.
During late game, you simply have your death squad, which can destroy most enemies single handedly. The strategy is just largely gone. And what strategy could there even be but have unbeatable units, as they send 10 wyverns from every side at you. You cant use strategy like pull a few of the enemies away, use forts for the others etc., as at that point you are allowed to send in 16+ of your units. Also until you moved them all in 1 turn, you could have done 10 turns in an earlier chapter. And not deploying all units would just make it that the units you send out get even more exp and outlevel everything.
So, am I doing something wrong, or are Fire Emblem games supposed to be hard, interesting and challenging only early and mid game, while near the end you just end the story with your unbeatable squad, killing 70 enemies per chapter?
