  1. Is my Petra normal? She feels so weak. My first run was BL and Ingrid was similarly bad until I made her a Pegasus so I did the same to Petra, but other than Canto hit and runs she doesn‘t have any value other than her high speed. I‘m currently thinking of making her a Falcon knight that uses bows and swords, is that a good idea?
  2. Well it's not surprising. They gender-locked classes as a form of forced versatility, when in truth it only limited the options more. Opposite effect than intended probably.
  3. It‘s pretty good, but not even close to the fun and fair difficulty of Conquest. It had a nice plot and characters and gameplay is good enough to enjoy.
  4. It‘s not a must, just helps a lot when you make a mistake or if your units aren‘t ideally placed.
  5. Ah mistyped. Stride indeed. I had mine on Linhardt, but can be on anyone. Since I used both Stride usages I assume they‘re pretty necessary in a pinch.
  6. I just beat it last night on Maddening BE. I did it as soon as it was available, ie. the month after the Battle of the Eagle and Lion. So everyone was in the range of lvl 14-15. I did the paralogue immediately because I wanted the Knowledge Gem, and the extra divine pulse usages sounded nice too. I used BE-characters + Flayn only, with 2 adjutants of 2 recruited characters(though these didn‘t help anything I think). Basically the beginning is pretty simple. The teacher moves right to the woods to intercept the first wolf, in the meantime the class kills the wolf in front of them. Then they kill the wolf that attacked the teacher, then the one coming up. This makes the birds and boss move, while also spawning 2 birds and a wolf. Use gambits whenever necessary, since you‘re BE you should have access to at least 2 battalions with Blaze(the fire barrel cart), the range is huge and will destroy one monster‘s barrier right away and heavily damage another one if close(the birds were often close by). At this point it was looking well and was ready to intercept the 3 birds from the start, but then they spawn 2 more birds and 1 wolf as reinforcements. This is the panic-part where you need to play it very well, and use all divine pulses you have until you figure out what works for you. For me the biggest help was knowing how the monster AI works. Once they start charging their AOE attack they won‘t move unless there is at least 1 unit in range to be hit by it. This way you can get a free turn where that beast doesn‘t move to kill your mages and healers, which are all one-rounded by any bird or wolf. For others you can gain time by battalion usage to make them attack a tanky character that turn, or break the barrier for others so they are stunned for their next turn, missing an action. Since both birds and wolves have half-barriers any normal attack breaks one, after which they won‘t counterattack 1 time. You can then destroy another tile without counterattacks, continuing on safely like this until all 4 are broken. It was very hard on BE but possible if you try to gain as much time as possible, blocking the birds‘ path to your squishier units so they attack someone else, leave 1 tanky person to tank the AOE attacks(for those anyone with full hp can tank it, since it doesn‘t double and might is around 39). Beware that each wolf has pass so you can‘t block their way, battalion or break their barriers asap. If you have units with higher sword and axe skills there are combat arts to deal big damage to monsters for both sword and axe users. Finally the Gambit Stride batallion should help in dire situations for running away or being able to reach the back-squares of barriers to break.
  7. I like that the game is actually difficult, and even a team just with 3-4* units can win the campaign and the special maps with some strategy. After lvl 30 leveling is extremely slow though. Even if you never get a 5* you can make one yourself after a few arenas and the gifted 10k feathers. I turned Sharena into a 5* and she is awesome, she was great while she was a 4* too.
  8. How high can the +\- stat be? I have a Lyn that has 3 speed below her average stats, but has 4 defense more than average. So +3/-4 is possible, can it go higher/lower?
  9. Beat it over a year ago. Was a really nice game...if you don't count the summoners. They are complete and utter BS that ruins the game, which will hopefully get either completely removed or drastically changed in Echoes.
  10. The best map was easily endgame on lunatic. The most enjoyable chapter in the entire game and thus an amazing finish to an already great game. Enemies are at their all time highest power in terms of stats and skills, they are all perfectly placed in a rather small map which still has so many strategic points to consider. One mistake and you could be losing characters everywhere which can easily get 1-rounded or 2-rounded by an enemy here. Highly likely the best final chapter of all Fire Emblem games. Chapter 23 comes in second. It really makes you feel like you're trying to seize a highly defended castle(in this case a wall). 2 strong mini bosses, great enemy placement, great map and perfect music for it and a hard boss as well. Do the paralogues count? If so, 3rd is definitely paralogue 15(Siegbert). It's a really difficult chapter that keeps spawning hard enemies on you until you advance. Easily the hardest paralogue, especially when done later. Unlike other chapters in conquest that use endless reinforcements, the reinforcements here are very powerful, diverse and come every turn from all sides. Having to split up your forces in a way that works to try and deal with all the enemies while still pushing forward is insane. It feels great to succeed in this long chapter that is filled with permanent battles all around the map. Chapter 7/8 for giving the player a great feel of what to expect in the rest of the game, and the contrast is huge if birthright was played before. Personally I find chapter 10 overrated a lot, but it's still my 5th pick for fun maps, since there are many ways to go at it. 2 strong mini bosses that have to be dealt with in order to get all the houses.
  11. As the guy above said, you need to have a realistic chance of reaching caps first before worrying about the caps themselves. I'd try to get your most important stats to 50% growths or higher, then try to optimize the modifiers for said stats.
  12. In terms of gameplay? Xander is better. Having high defense is much more reliable than being dodge-happy like Ryoma, while still hitting hard at 1-2 range. And I always preferred Luna over Astra and Xander has it. Personality wise... I'd say they're even. They are both really great "big-brother" types in both games, supporting their younger main character and giving them a hand when needed. In terms of appearence, I'd call them even too. Lobster memes aside, Ryoma is just as dashing as Xander, although people may love Xander more because blond/short hair is often a favorite.

The best way to do the last part of that chapter is to open the final room from both sides at the same time, luring the berserkers with a sword unit(preferably Corrin) to the left while having the generals go right into a tanky unit. My Xander wasnt the best tank so I recommend tanking with Beruka, Effie, Benny or Silas(depends on how he turns out, for me he was a def capped monster). I recommend having 2-3 high def units at all times not just relying on Xander.
  14. Compared to awakening, fates is better, both conquest and birthright. Comparing it to any older games is tricky, since snes fe games can't really be compared to the gba fe games for example. Personally the gameplay was never as great as with fates. There's still things to improve on, but not too much. Soundtrack is awesome as in all fe games. Characters are decent and largely likeable. Story has it's ups and downs, yet fire emblem games never have that good a story to begin with so it's not too important for the fans nor the developers. Overall a very good fire emblem game worthy of being the 14th game of the series. Along with fe6 and fe8 my top 3.
  15. Ah finally made it without losses. My Corrin was too weak to kill Takumi by himself and just never procced dragon fang so I had to fight myself through all the enemies in this map. Actually much more fun finding a way of legit winning this one and clearing all enemies. It took about 7-8 turn. The silence staff from the previous chapters proved very useful to have fewer debuffs until I killed the maids. Using entrap on a few key enemies made things easier at the start. The 4 dual guard paladins got taken out in 1 turn, Kaze with a beast killer knife is way too good against them. Had to defeat the first 3 rounds of faceless(14 faceless total), their self destruct never came into play since I didn't leave them alive for more than their first turn. It's all about being fast and clearing a lot of the map until the paladins come at turn 4, then killing them quickly, dispatching all the following faceless and moving in to kill the 3 final staffers and Takumi. He was easy to defeat with Azura singing and other units helping along. Initial staff frustration aside, it's a really great final map if only you could save before it to actually motivate players to find a non cheese-skip strategy.
  16. Good idea. I got boots on Corrin.. but it doesn't have to be a 1-turn cheese. As long as I can skip the paladins it should work. Any tips on actually defeating Takumi? Any way to deal with his random vengeance proc, or do I have to keep trying until the rng works in my favor?
  17. Need some help/advise with this. This chapter is actually impossible without losing anyone. The best I managed to do here was kill most enemies by turn 5. But around this time come the faceless reinforcements as well as 4 insanely powerful dual guard paladins. These paladins can kill any of my units in one turn of combat. It also doesn't help that most of my units are still trying to recover from -8 on all stats. I tried many times but there is no going past those paladins, they are too strong. I tried ignoring them and just trying to fight Takumi with Corrin, but that doesn't work. Corrin is either too weak due to the debuffs and hexing rod, or Takumi activates vengeance when he's almost dead(which has a high % too) and one-shots Corrin. What should I do at this point? I heard about some rescue cheese but I only have 1 use of 1 rescue staff left which I doubt is enough. Do I just let people die? Is all I lose only their ending if I let a character die in the final chapter? Is there something else that can be done here? I doubt even buying skills or grinding dlc does anything at this point since all my units are mostly capped with their stats.
  18. Many support convos don't just have 2 people talking friendly with each other. To make 2 people warm up to each other in 3 conversations often needs some conflicts in order for it to seem natural. Which doesn't really make them tsunderes.
  19. So that also means you can't have both the avatar and the child have a dragonstone+? And there isn't even a "infinite regalia"-esque DLC with it? That's really lame.
  20. I seem to have missed the chest with the Dragonstone+ in conquest chapter 20, there were too many other things to pay attention to. No way am I redoing the whole chapter just for it, that chapter is far too annoying on lunatic. I doubt another conquest chapter drops it, so maybe in a paralogue? Or lategame shop? Or can I get it in one of the dlc's?
  21. Finished it recently as well. 24x took some time, but lategame wasn't as hard as mid game. Final chapter was decent, it's just stupid that all 6 doors are locked, and the chance of having spare door keys isn't high, and at best you got two leveled thieves. The final boss was a complete non-issue, for a game this difficult the final boss was way too weak.
  22. So, I've played through nearly all of the Fire Emblem games now. I went in no particular order, and just went with what I felt like. This interestingly enough had me play everything but the Marth games, which there are 4 of I believe. 1,3,11 and 12. So my question is, how should I go about playing them? From what I know, 1 is included in 3, and they're remade as 11 and 12. So should I skip 1 and 3 and go with 11 and 12? Or skip 1, 11 and 12 and go with 3? But then again, even if it's a remake it is probably different in many aspects, such as mechanics, maps, text, growths etc. so maybe play them all? Which way should I play them to get the best and most fulfilling Akaneia experience?
