  1. Did you read my entiere post ? ^^ I already said that i read those 4 page but i then explain why i didn't liked at all the general feeling they gave me, even if interresting point were made there were given for the most part in way that i really don't like...
  2. Sorry bad phrasing when i said that i was not targeting you in particular i meant not really and even not at all i was just for describe the general feeling that i had reading trough those page. For me the essence and goal of a philosophical debate is to evolve the way we see the situation by confronting it other point of view and eventually if we don't find a mutual agreement at least acknowledge other's opinion ; so it's just infuriating for me to see people crushing other human being's reasoning with cold logical arguments, at least it's how i felt it. You've made a pretty good point and i agree with you on the last part at least. but i have question, don't you think that logic and so science require somme sort of "faith" ? By faith i mean the volition to devote yourself to this cause and believe in the path that other peoples traced before you. That seem for me no so different thant the religious faith but maybe am i wrong ?
  3. It there really any need of it ? i read the 4 page until know and all it was was a ping pong of people saying that their pragmatic philosophie was better than the other's (not targeting you in particular) and other people trying to defend their chunk of self expression... I don't know if all philosophical topic turn like this on SF but that's kinda sad actually.
  4. Too bad there isn't a way to like post without quoting... Thank to resumate wonderfully what i was desperately trying to tell in my 3 paragraph of cryptic phrase and bad grammar... ^^ have a good day or night sir.
  5. Okay this is tricky... And i think that blaze the great fears reaveled to be true.... So people need to learn that even tough in a logical way opinions are still opinions : Even crazy logicians can't throw in your face that your are wrong because their conception of how logic work says so, it's the equivalent of religious people saying that you are statment is false because it's written in the sky. I believe, and i think most can agree on this, that you can't deny someone philosophy by saying that your own is the better one, it's only a way to conceptualize the world like religions do and one is no more legitimate or noble than the other. Logic isn't science by any means : it's science that USE logic to analyse our environnement but by being over pragmatic, in my humble opinion, i think that we are just denaturing life, taking out the unknown for the sake of an all powered "logic", in brief trivalize humanity. On the other hand i agree beleving too much in the scriptures, once again in my opinion, can blind us out of life's truth, taking out the known for the sake of an hypotetical all powered "god", in brief trivalize humanity. We all have conception(s) of the world that surround us why couldn't we take what we think good in symbolism and spirituality and what we think is good in science and logical way of thinking ? Pushed at it's paroxysm logic is just a belief between a thousand of other. Please evryone do not forget our heirloom has human with herited of milleniums of knownledge and philosophy... Look nothing prevent philosopher to be scientist or poet while still believing that their something beyond us : Plato one of the father of the metaphysic wrote on the front of his school "enter here only those who are geometer" ; Pascal who made one of the first calculating machine and created the scale that we use today to calculate pressure was a very religious man and one of the most influencing philosopher. Don't forget this phrase, i think it's very important in a world that trie to separate and "classify" different kind of knowledge : "Science without conscience is the death of the soul." François Rabelais
  6. Hum... I'm sorry but i must react on the controversial "Damsel in distress subject"... it's not "inherently" a sexist trope, it's the way our patriarchal society depict it in mass media that is sexist ! To it's very core it's just a way to tale stories like "the guy kill the horrible beast" and nothing probihit it to be changed or reversed (it was done many time in the past and believe me waaayyyy before the 20th century). The formula of this trope isn't a guy save a girl in danger but a character A save a character B that is in danger. Being an amateur of chivalry novel i can afirme you that damsels save knight almost as much than knight save damsels but because of the mediavals ages and the excuse that the main character is a man when tend to completly overshadow theses. Even when a male hero come to the rescue of a female character, good writers tend to put trials even in the woman's captivity to proof that in her own way her virtue and wisdom can overcome what threaten her like Penelope in the Homer's Odyssey. In general in well writtens epic poetry and chivlary novels damsels have a LOT of powers wheter by political means (Eg : Queen Guenievre, Antigone...), magical means (Eg : Morgana ; Circe ; Calypso ; Medea...), Forseeing (Eg : Cassandra...) or simply holding the protagonist's love(Eg : countless). Indeed this is not has shiny than the role of the hero but it's an important part of all good adventures stories and whithout it all those wonderful stories would be bland. (I acknowledge than you can argue that those role are specificaly feminine and therefore sexist but : 1: sometimes they can be endorsed by males like kings, sorcers or prophets and even if they are somewhat rare some heroïne and weapon-bearing woman can be found in most of cultures. 2: denying the structures of myths themselves by saying their are inherently incorrent or morally wrong is denying the entire base of writing and fantasy, most mythical heroes are mass-murderer those this prevent use to appreciate the beauty of their adventure and the eternal light of their virtue ?) P.S : really sorry for my bad grammar and the fact that i over-reacted to talking but "tropes" as english-speakers call them is not something banal it's the whole history of litterature and imagination therefore this something that cannot be taked lightly in my humble opinnions ; i will not criticize you for saying that the use of a certain "trope" is bad but i will if you critize the "trope" itself without very good arguments (and general feeling isn't an argument)(especially since it's a "long-running" "trope").
  7. Hum... Dragon quest anybody ? I'm really surprised that Final fantasy totally overshadowed the dragon quest serie. It's the staple of the jrpg genra : most of the thing we know and love about jrpg come from it, final fantasy tried novative gameplay ideas and 60% of the time it was just weird where dragon quest kept the same gameplay and improved it in each installement. Seriously every gamer that is interested in the rpg genra (even occidental rpg fans) should at least know the dragon quest serie for what it brought to the genra, plus it would stop people saying idiot thing like "The JRPG core formula is all about plots that are not even that good".
  8. There is no rule for a mandatory healer ? Hum, i'm okay with that. So i pick this roster too : Gentleman, shota, pony princess and "i know who you are thanks to your hair colour" guy.
  9. Honorable, because she most show that she is more than a shithead but the shithead !
  10. Shit head is beautiful. "Do not judge a book by its cover." (Not like i did 5 post ago :/ ...)
  11. Orphan all the way !
  12. Sorry, for the gender confusion i didn't payed attention to your profil by bad habits and i have taked the bad habits to think that every person on the internet that i don't know the sex of is male (you know rule 37 and all that kind of false internet meme). but good luck anyway and i hope it will makes us laugh.
  13. hair 11, color 5, eyes 10 good day sir, that's a pretty cool idea but like every run of this type prepare to have all your hopes in human-kind crushed. has peoples will force you to make terrible choice. :p
  14. Durendal : Allen, Oujay or Roy. Allen because his a fiery paladin from pharae that rush head on on ennemies and is loyal to his liege kinda like the real life Roland was Oujay because the ressemblance with FE roland is oustanding + matching class/birth place and Roy because he's elliwood son and his class has been adapted has heroe in awakening. Maltet : Noah. Matching class birthplace and way more hero like than treck. Armads : Echidna or gonzales. Mainly for the classes, affinity and birthplace. Murgleis : Sue. Do i have anything to say about it ? i think it's pretty obvious Forblaze : Lilinna. No particular reason except give her a weapon to match her stature... this is not an easy one. Aureola : Ellen. Once again no particular reason except that i prefer her to the others but their are all eligible for a reason. ellen for being the only female healer and searvant of the keeper of the fire emblem. Saul and yodel for being etrurian (i'm no really sure about they're birthplace) and bieng part of elimine church. Apocalypse : Sophia.
  15. Yeah but since the general system directly descend from Awakening, i think it's more plausible to that it use roughly the same reclassing system. Plus why would a mixed on foot class could reclass into a pure physical horse (and even armored) class without having acess to the base class that promote into it ?
  16. I think i kinda understand. Assuming that Parrallel proff allow reclassing and that butler is a promoted class whe can think that butler/maids are promoted from a stave user class that can also promote into Valkyrie/Strategist this would be pretty cool. For the great knight/paladin choice it's simply added because cavalier most be his second base class. That would also mean that they will not be 3 but 2 base class reclassing in this game.
  17. Salutation, i'm Izhuark, I think i don't know if i can call myself a fire emblem fan since i only finishied 2 games (Shadow dragon and Awakening, Haters gonna hate) but i played a least 12 chapters of each gba games hum... so here i am ! I love the fire emblem gameplay even if the perma-death system is what made me rage-quit the gba games but i think it's part of the challenge so when i play Awakening or heroes of light and shadow , i always play on hard classic. I'm in general a tactical rpg lover but because it take times, concentration and often stress me i can't finish them... Howewer for some reaseon i have finished all the tactical rpg that i played on portable console maybe because i can take my game anywhere and if i'm frustrated because of a lose i can just save or put the console in stanby and play it back when the frustation is over and my mind clear therefore slacking on my bed or my couch for optimum comfort (Comfort= less stress =less frustation). My first FE was Shadow dragon a controversial one for those who started with blazing sword... I can't say if it is a good fire emblem game as i haven't played the pre-gba ones, but i can definitively say that as a game of is one it was ground-breaking... I already knew intelligent system from some very good games like Paper mario 2 or Advance wars 2 therefore Shadow dragon was for me like Advance wars but in an epic fantasy world with rpg mecanics and since i love rpgs and fantasy, do i need to say more ...? okay i think i talked enough on why i love Fire emblem. Now i will rather talk about my taste. I love myths especially greek and egyptian and i'm very interested in celtics and nordics ones but what i love the most is The Arthurian legend, the story of knights goin on an epic quest for glory, justice, goodness and love, i can't resist it ! I also love roleplaying, I would like to play a whole campain on a tabletop-rpg sometimes but i never find friends irl that take it seriously... I don't know my music taste really, when i find a music that i like, i say that i like it but i can't categorize my tastes in music. I read a lot compared to most of the people but excluding the myths as i stated earlier, i read mostly french classics so it would be kinda pointless to describe my reading tastes here. I like anime and manga a lot even if at the moment i don't have the time to read or watch any of them, in general i avoid big shonnen à la naruto, one piece and such because it's average most of the time and way too much time consumer to keep on the serie. On the other side theres is one anime that i fall in love with Sayonara zetsubô sensei, this is a master piece nothing more to say. My presentation starting to get pretty long so i will stop here but if you have any questions, i will gladly answer them. Have a nice day ! P.S. : really sorry for my grammar, english isn't my native language and even if i'm pretty good at comprehension, i still need to work on writting and express myself in english. P.P.S : whoops didn't see the formated presentation template, here it is : Real name: I prefer to keep anonymity on the internet DoB: 16 march Favourite FE Game: Sword of seal Favourite Game (other than FE): hum... I would say... Castlevania Dawn of sorrow but the Sakura taisen serie risk to be in the lead theses games look like their are litterally made for me. Favourite FE Character: Roy to be the roi ! Least Favourite game: I don't know i played so much crappy... but the first that i remembered is dragonball revenge of the king piccolo on the wii. Sports: i don't have time for such a thing. Online friends: i don't have any that is not also a friend irl but at the time i was chatting on an irc server i talked a lot with some francophone with theses pseudos tijo2035, Dr-plastic, kazu, senjia, odd... i was in a French scanlation at time at the time that is now kinda undead. Favourite music: I don't really know but my youtube playlist diplayed the ones that i come bact to most of the times : http://youtu.be/_ACB-smA0l4?list=FL_6g-ejrFS3WME29nzvUKbw (but there are a lot like 90% of the sakura taisens musics that i didn't had.) Favourite artist/band: if it is a music artist i don't know but for atist in general i would say Victor Hugo. Favourite song: same that favourite music Country: France MSN/Yahoo/AIM: Izhuark@hotmail.fr Hobbies: Theather as an actor Good Point: I'm an idealist and an utopist who belive in the human kind and when i'm not depressed i'm really passionate and plead for justice, duty and good... (yeah i seek the loyal-good alignement even in real life/yeah i'm a kantian... some people find that dumb... ) Bad Point: i have the tendency to overeact to all of my faults and that can put my in state where i can't do anything beside hurting and accuse myself.
