  1. I suddenly feel reminded of the worst battle theme to end all worst battle themes.
    Ugh.

And if I have to suffer, so do you all.

What in the name of all things holy were they thinking with this garbage?
    Seriously.
Even the worst chicken clucking in Trails isn't as godawful as... whatever the hell this is.
I'd take that Yoshi theme Armagon shared over this.
Not to mention, this horribly unfitting for the creature it plays for, which may I remind you at one point had this for a theme. Literally all they had to do is make that song into a proper battle theme and all would've been okay. But nope. Garbage it is. Ugh.

Excuse me while I cleanse my ears of this trash.

Pokémon's music started to go south with Gen IV, and has only gotten worse since.
Not that it was ever anything above average, compared to contemporary game OSTs.

    (Also, you're counting Vs. Zinnia?)

Oh, that. Yeah... that one's okay, I guess. Bit out of place in Pokémon, I think, but it's alright.
ORAS' OST was decent to good, in general, but that's because they just had to not fuck up remaking the music (which is where HGSS by and large failed, with the battle themes at least. Gen IV's battle themes are pretty bleh in general. The other music's alright, though, I guess).

Officialy the worst take in the thread

How about this one: Ys V good.

    Sorry. I felt challenged. XD

    Worst music in existence

It can't be, when rap, hip hop, German Schlager, and any post-Gen V Pokémon OSTs exist. xD

But yes, CS3's OST is weak as heck.
It's saying something when Idea Factory/Compile Heart did one of CS3's main bosses more justice than CS3 had ever any hope of doing, both in terms of music and gameplay.

Trails bad. That's what I'll say.

It has its moments where I'm like "yeah, this is dope", but overall, I kinda agree.
It ain't for me. That's what I'll say.

Just like Xenoblade 2, Conquest, Dragon Quest, Pokémon, most older Final Fantasy games (non-Blue Reflection/Atelier Ryza ATB systems I'm not a fan of)... yup, public enemy #1. Right here. xD

My condolences that your beloved franchise is stuck in spinoff purgatory.

Honestly, I don't even think it's that big a deal.
Spinoffs are a good way to explore this universe in different ways without the "baggage" that comes with adhering to the main canon, which may or may not work to the series' advantage, overall. Not to mention they can also try out different styles of gameplay, as well, like Super Neptunia RPG, that was a platformer, or Cyberdimension Neptunia, which was an MMO/ARPG mix, or the upcoming Ninja Wars that seems to go in the direction of full-on Musou.

Ultimately, whether it's spin-off or mainline games, I'm just happy the series is still alive. And even if it dies, I'll still have the games that exist, and the memories I made with them.

Also, that screenshot you posted looks legitimately awesome. I'm interested now. xD

Well... I will say, I do see moral qualms with pirating indie games. Obviously there are dickheads in the indie industry, like everywhere, but generally speaking, it feels like plundering a local artisan's shop. These people don't have the benefit of brand recognition, and you rarely see an indie with the prices and underhanded tactics of bigger studios. Heck, more often than not indie games are passion projects. It feels wrong not to reward the devs' efforts and potential future exploits for the sake of saving 20 bucks.

Well, okay, you got a point there!
I forgot about those, somehow, when I made my original point.
And yeah, you're absolutely right. Indie games, and those by some smaller studios (such as the people behind the Neptunia series) I wouldn't like to pirate.

Triple A games, though? Multimillionaire companies aren't even going to feel 60 bucks more or less. I wouldn't do it, personally (I'd just not buy the game lol, it's what I've been doing with Ninty the past two years, their recent games look fine but not 60-bucks-fine), but I'm not about to condemn someone to eternal damnation for it.

These I was referring to, mainly, but I'm in a similar boat to you.
There are only very few of these I'm even interested in enough to even want to pirate... actually, basically none, as most of what I like to play can be considered AA at most.

  6. I would see no moral qualms about pirating any game these days, with the trajectory the game industry at large is taking.
Though... I would not be caught dead playing anything that has even a hint of EA's, Ubisoft's, or Activision Blizzard's involvement in it (my blacklist is a bit longer than that, but these three in particular stand out).

On that note, the other reason I haven't gotten Arise yet is that neat little detail that apparently, there are Artes as paid DLC. Not costumes, not additional characters that add some more fun, but are well and truly additional content.
No. Artes. As in, skills. For characters already existing in the game. And frankly, fuck that noise.

Aight but yeah, jokes aside, I get it. Music is probably the most subjective aspect of anything.

    True, true ^^

Besides, we can both agree that Atelier Totori is still worse 🤝.

Ayup... which is a damn shame, too, because Totori herself is a pretty good character, I think.

I'm in agreement but I'm also looking at both FE cults and Ouroborous like

    perhaps_i_treated_you_too_harshly.jpg

because Tales of Arise, while I like it, absolutely set the new low standard for villain writing out of anything I've played.

    Oh boy.
I confess, I haven't gotten Arise yet, despite looking forward to it very much until its release (had too much on my plate around the time it came out, and now I kinda wanna wait for a price drop), but hearing this makes me a little less enthusiastic about it, heh

    Except Atelier Sophie.

I know Draggy loves the game but I do think Gust really missed with the OST there.

I'm starting to think this is your way of taking revenge against me for not liking Xenoblade 2 much. XD

All jokes aside, I like Sophie's soundtrack, I think it's really good, but arguing taste is pointless, as they say.

Well, to be a bit more serious, the focus kept shifting more and more to the supernatural instead of Sci-fi.

Supernatural elements were always there, yes, but they weren't at the center of it all, so to say. Cold Steel was very super natural (to the point we had a Magical Mecha grail war lol), and from what i heard, so is Kuro.

Something i am also not a fan of.

To me, the suprenatural stuff was the most (and with the way everything was presented, honestly basically the only) interesting part of the whole setting, tbh. Until they found a way to f*** it up by

    Spoiler

being all "ooooh, the CURSE (TM)!"

That, and the "we make every FE cult look like a shining example of writing" level of godawful villains connected to most of the supernatural stuff.
But you all know my opinion on those guys by now, I imagine. xD

  9. Blue Reflection Ray is the best anime series I've ever watched in my life.
It's an emotional roller coaster from beginning to end, and while it didn't quite manage to make me cry like the game did, it still made me feel various strong emotions, and I really wanted everything to go well for everyone involved.
Really the only negative thing about it is that two characters are introduced during the second half that really did not need to be there, and the way their part in the story was handled could have been better. But otherwise, I have literally zero complaints.
