Because it tells its very own story, and doesn't try to adapt the game's plot 1 to 1.
In fact, with the exception of three characters, whose appearances are very few and far between (sadly, kind of) every character in this anime is original to it. It's just set in kinda the same universe as the game.

You could even watch it and still understand everything without having played the game even once, which is a very good sign, imo.

@Interdimensional Observer Glad to hear you've been enjoying SW5! I have yet to continue the game myself, but I am definitely going to at some point in the future!

Also, Draggy may have a new favorite anime if it keeps up like it has been (currently at episode 18 out of 24).

Surprise surprise, it's Blue Reflection.
But it's good. Like, really, really good. And I couldn't be happier about it, since if you know me, you know the game Blue Reflection is one of my absolute favorites (and I am very excited for Second Light).
This song is also the GOAT in terms of anime OPs.

The first episode opens with new characters getting annihilated by this guy:

Though I guess it's reasonable that the new characters got wrecked by Netzach... EVERYONE gets wrecked by Netzach. Nearly, anyway, because it's one of the hardest bosses in the game.

Also, all but like three people in the show call this girl their sister. It's almost a meme at this point.

She's everyone's "onee-chan". XD

Also, being her is suffering.
And she's one of the two who got annihilated by Netzach in the first episode.
That line "... what I'm supposed to do anymore." in the subtitles? That's hers. And the reason why she said it makes Madoka look light-hearted.

I do really like Atelier Sophie for how lowkey and relaxed it all is (the atmosphere in particular really drew me into the game... and series), so hearing that the games get even better does make me happy!

Fun fact: On Classic and Extreme difficulties, enemy dice rolls are rigged against you. On Normal, there is no rigging, while on Casual, the dice rolls are rigged in your favor. If you do ever try it... go for Normal. Trust me. XD

She's, like, one of my absolute favorites to use, too. Her Hyper basically says "stand in one row with me and be dead"... that's literally what it does, it just kills every other player in the same uninterrupted column as her. xD
Only disadvantage is: you don't get wins from it.

Finally got around to starting Ys Origin. Playing on Normal.

I can't beat this thing.
This is the first boss of the game. And it's not even a boss boss, because the boss boss music doesn't play.
Instead, the in my opinion worst battle theme in the series plays while fighting this thing. And I'm not saying that because I can't beat it. I'm legit not a fan of that track (the rest of the OST is pretty good, though).

Also, this is the first Ys game I've seen that is localized into German, which severly throws me off.

Far as I know, they wanted to cash in on the first series' popularity bring in new audiences with it, after the series grew up with its fanbase (hence why Savers/Data Squad features older protagonists, whereas Cyber Sleuth and its sequel feel geared towards older teens and young adults).

I think this is just a matter of having a male character voiced by a female actor, since Agumon and his evolutions are commonly called "he" in any series they appear in (with the exception of Digimon Savers, where he is voiced by a male actor instead).
It's like how Son Goku and his family in Dragon Ball is traditonally voiced by a woman (Masako Nozawa) in the Japanese versions of those series and anything related to them (fun fact: Nozawa also voiced the main Digimon in Digimon Tamers, and she's the narrator for this series). Or how Ash Ketchum is voiced by a woman in English, Japanese, and German dubs of the Pokémon anime. Or even Naruto, who is voiced by a woman in both Japanese and English dubs of the series of the same name.

Or, if we stick to Fire Emblem... look at Henry in the Japanese version of Awakening, who shares his voice actress with Emmeryn, of all characters. And I'm fairly certain Ricken is also voiced by a woman in the Japanese version, though I'm not 100% certain of that.

Also, just so you have an idea as to what goes on in my brain: imagine... just for a second, the scene in Megadimension Neptunia VII, where the CPUs achiever their Next Forms for the first time, and this plays in the background while they transform, and during the boss fight afterwards...
