Off topic: You're the one doing the flaming. Flaming is a hostile and insulting interaction between Internet users. I said my thoughts; you continue to bring it up. You create the hostile environment, not me. And I love how your posts have absolutely NOTHING to do with the thread ^_^ On topic: Rath is vulnerable to the Horseslayer and Longsword weapons, granted so are your other cavalary units they're BOUND to be much higher leveled by the time Rath rejoins the group. His defense is meh and his hp is OK for a level 9 unit. Meeting both is bad; plus any other unit that attacks him? Rath is a definite goner. Better left for benching.
  2. When my Lara got her 2 movement bonuses, it was in the same chapter you obtained her. One was gotten after a level up, the other was not. It's shown outside of a level up and, if I do believe this to be correct, does not correspond to level ups in general. Leaf also got a movement plus after just hitting an enemy. Didn't gain a level; came close though. EDIT: By the bold, I mean she got a level up and after the "level up screen" disappeared, she got +1 movement. If it matters, she was stealing items back and forth.
  3. Yes, but it would help to level up Chad/Ashtol so they could endure more. Pure water/Angelic robes, with the angelic robe being overkill for Asthol and most likely is not necessary. Comes with 3 resistance and 25 hp, +7 resistance from the pure water usually avoids trouble from far casting magi with Purge and Bolting.

*points to above message* I'm not getting into a flame war with you. You don't like the way I play MY game? That's fine, I don't care. If I find lolHORSESLAYER pwnage to not be my idea of killing Cavaliers, that's not your problem. I gave you my points; don't like those either? That's fine; I really don't care what others think about how I play my games. I mentioned the Horseslayer because it destroys Rath. His poor defense and inability to counterattack it in any way makes him VERY vulnerable to it, which is a valid point. Also, I'll say this again; I DON'T USE THEM IN NORMAL PLAYTHROUGH. I'll use them in HECTOR'S HARD MODE ONLY, when damage NEEDS to be dealt quickly. Is there a particular part of that that you just don't understand?

This is coming from the guy who thinks that effective weapons have no purpose. Which has no purpose in THIS thread, troll. And actually, I said I never USE them, not that have no purpose. In fact, I even said "They're useful in Hector's Hard Mode though." I am NOT getting into a flame war with you, especially over like...lol11 of the 52 weapons in Fire Emblem 7, NOT counting magicks and staves There's no point since I've said my points, you've said your points. You don't like mine? Fine. I don't like your's? Fine. There; said and done.
  6. But supports only work with character that are alive! Lloyd and Linus have an A support in the final chapter of FE7. Off-Topic: I'm surprised Lloyd and Linus didn't have a support with their Father at all. I know they're never really near each other (unless you count the final Chapter, but Brendan's usually dead by that point), but father, son bond? >_>
  7. Better unit WITH supports is probably something you want MORE than your two options. As for lance users, yeah you have one; Frey. Merric you should change to Sage/Bishop either is fine since they both have the same growths. What will his defense be after reclassing him to Sage/Bishop?
  8. But who's to say who's hacking and who's just manipulated the RNG? Obviously someone with 3865386536 movement hacked the game. But capped Strength/Magic, Skill, Speed, and luck? That might not be a hacker; could be someone who manipulated the RNG to gain uber units. And I would think monitoring the WiFi battles costs money. Does doing WiFi battles cost you money to use? No. Why spend money just for the sake of spending it?

    advice

Rath has and probably never will be good for me *sigh*. He comes way too late and generally his level is low. He comes in a chapter with Wyvern Riders, but so doesn't Heath and he could definitely use the EXP too. To be honest, bench Rath, use Rebecca/Wil, use Wyverns for freshly promoted units to get exp and Heath. Rebecca/Wil is just as sucky, but without the fear of teh P0NYSLAYA coming up and raping you. Not that there are many, but I believe there are a few after that chapter.
  10. Asthol gets my vote. He comes at a decent level and can survive an attack from ranged magic/a physical blow unlike Chad and Cath. They'll die just from picking up loot that's how sucky they are Also, why level up your thief? They can't promote and unlike in Thracia 776, your movement does not increase (I forgot whether or not the Swiftsoles are in this one. I think they are? O_o). Save the axe wielders for...
  11. I would say Great Knight for both. -2 skill won't be missed much; it's only 4 hit lost. By the time the game's over, your units will probably all have around...What? lol80-100 hit? I doubt you'll miss the -2 skill from not becoming a Paladin much. There's also the -1 move a Great Knight gets. But that never really affects anyone, as there's a way to RNG abuse Swiftsoles >_> Great Knights also get +4 con, so that might balance out between heavier weapons for both Franz and Forde.
  12. Even if I had a juna fruit, I definitely wouldn't use it on him or any of the creature Campaign characters. But I agree with you on the stat boosters. That's probably the simpler route than just...killing things with them O_o
  13. This patch looks great :o I can't wait to try it when it's released!
  14. Everyone who kills things "hogs EXP". You can't hold that against him just because he leaves. Besides, there is no such thing as that in this game anyway. ----- There is one question though. What happens if you actually get him killled on purpose in the chapter that he is playable in? And when you actually use him in that chapter...does he get to keep the EXP that he gained from the main story into the CC? And using Orson isn't recommended, at all. He destorys easy EXP. When Orson dies in that chapter he just retreats, no he dosen't get the exp he got from chapter 5 to Creature Campaign, and Juna fruit lowers level of a unit by one when used. It's 1-5 levels, probably depending upon the Level of the character already. Listed between the Solar Brace and Dragonstone http://serenesforest.net/fe8/item.htm
  15. Maybe I'll finally be able to help with something XD Usually with Cormag (or Tana, if I decide to make her a Wyvern Knight), they sometimes do activate Pierce and critical at the same time. When they killed the enemy, the game didn't hang for me, so it might not hang if there's no enemy to attack again. Same with their Ranged attack iirc.
  16. Even though I hate on Wendell A LOT, I gotta say he's the better healer out of the choices. The others don't become that good enough to heal your allies until like...Level 12 or 13? Wendell heals pretty well; lolRena heals less than Wendell to start off with. She only becomes good which she starts pumping out levels and that's an IF and how you manipulate her levels, which you could do for Wendell as well. If you decide to use Lena(or any other curate), you use a master seal reserved for a (usually) better person. Merric is one that comes to mind, since he can heal on promotion, granted it's only E rank.
  17. Samson. At least he can perform a double attack on most enemy units. Arran...Just can't. Killer Lance or not, it's not enough to outweigh his poor base stats. They both suck, but Samson is by far the least suckiest (XD) of the two.
  18. Well, Mage Dragons, but those stop Linde too, so.... And her Mag lead isn't large enough to make up for how much HP enemies have on H5. I mentioned Mage Dragons right before that XD
  19. Merric. He has Excalibur which auto* criticals on air borne units and he joins so many chapters earlier. Plus, even as a Mage, he has a defensive growth :o Linde...All she has over him really is Magic. But besides Pegasus Knights (read: Excalibur), other mages, and the Mage Dragon(s), what units have a resistance stat that's big enough to halt Merric from killing them?
  20. Guy can take out Wyverns Riders/Lords with ease and with a killing edge. Which he comes pre-equip with. Even without it, he still has the +15 critical a Swordmaster gets. I think you misunderstood him. He wasn't concerned about offense, he was concerned about defense, and reaver weapons help that one quite a lot. With a Killing Edge, he takes 3 more damage and has 45 less avoid against lance using enemies as if he was using a lance reaver. Don't tell me that 45 Avd makes no difference, because it's a difference like day and night. You do realize that most of the enemies' here have like..TEN skill with a steel lance, right? My level 10 Swordmaster Guy has 27 speed and 15 luck. With a killing edge, he has 26 AS and 15 luck, plus I usually stick my units onto a forest/fort if it's available to me. Guy's Avoid = 67 (without terrain),87 (terrain factored in). Enemy's hit = 105, with the triangle bonus in. Enemy's final hit rate: 18, 38 if I'm not on a fort/forest. Not likely to hit me. Plus, Guy's more likely to pull off a critical with the Killing Edge than with a Lancereaver any day, which will finish off the enemy. No. They help in Hard Mode; normal/Eliwood hard mode, they're very unnecessary and weigh most otherwise durable units down. And besides, Kent/Sain through Lyn's playthrough to level 20 (VERY possible, mind you), promoted to Paladin. BAM. They can take out those cavaliers and generals easily. Usually, I get all Lyn's army to level 8 or so, minus Kent; he goes to 10-15, SOMETIMES 20 then goes on. You'd need more money than you could possibly have to get every unit to level 20 off Lundgren. Geitz has terrible stats. Bartre usually can match his speed, skill and has higher strength. Did I mention Bartre ALSO has higher defense and resistance usually? And luck. Bartre has better luck. It doesn't even require abusing, perhaps you just don't know how to effective use basic weaponry to kill your enemies. Kent + Steel Axe = knights in fear. Raven + Steel Sword = Brigands and Fighter cower in fear. They don't NEED those craptastic weapons to be good; you just need to train the units you're GOING to use. And like I said; hector Hard Mode only weapons. Only time they're of any real use. Oswin, yes, is a tank. Would I use him on the front line? No. He wouldn't be able to keep up unless I gave him the Swiftsoles. Lowen? Bah. I have Kent; I used Lowen before; didn't even compare to Kent on any level and that's with a straight Hector playthrough, no Lyn story. If you can prevent an enemy's counter and still KO them using an effective weapon, why not use it? It's not like you were that short on money, after all. See the response to "making game trivial" please. Lol? He can kill units just fine with that inventory. Raven's stats as a level 5 Hero: 46 hp, 22 Strength, 23 skill, 22 speed, 8 luck, 16 defense, 7 resistance. If your Raven can't kill things, doesn't mean other people's can't. As for bosses, Linus would beg to differ with you on that. =) And I was talking in general; not every boss is a general, which makes those weapons worth even less. This isn't Genealogy of the Holy War, Thracia 776 or Sacred stones where Generals/Barons/Emperors have the lolBig Shield skill. There's a Bishop boss. an Assassin, Valkyrie, couple Paladins, a few Warriors, a Sage or two maybe three, a druid, Swordmaster, a Hero, Sniper, Nomad, Nomadic Trooper, Fighter, Shaman, Mercenary, Cavalier...Oh and a Wyvern Lord. 22 Strength + Iron Axe (until he gets his level up when I switch him to something else) = pwned Bishop, Warrior, Sage, Druid, Sniper, Shaman. Not all people like making the game trivial by abusing the arena. I boost the units who NEED to get a bit of levels in (lolCanas, lolLyn) before moving on. I don't pump out levels like a beast just because it's available to me. In the process, you make money. That's not "making the game trivial." In fact, getting Canas to level 14/15 doesn't make him Jesus in a purple robe so yeah.
  21. So, you want a game with, like, 10 characters and no choice in who they are. Huh. Sounds like a pretty huge step back to me. They'd porbably have a backstory of some sort. These..."people" (if you could call them that. Most people tell us about themselves in a short description though.) are just sprites with pictures with no real backstory. Who's Abel? A cavalier of Marth's country. Woo! Boy! That backstory just BLEW ME AWAY. In 6, 7, 8; cursor over name; hit R button tells us who they are, what they do. Ross longs to be a warrior, like his father. See, backstory. tells us SOMETHING about who Ross is. Do these characters? NO. There's about a handful of the 50 that actually tell us something useful about their past. When you get a unit to level 20 and their highest stat out of strength, skill, speed, luck, defense, and resist is 12 and that belongs to strength, there's a problem. Abnormally high? Each unit was balanced. Overpowered is Sedgar and Wolf who have INSANE growth rates. I'll choose...4 random characters: Guy, Oujay, Lute and Oswin and compare them to units in FEDS of the same class Guy vs. Narbarl Guy: Hp 75, Strength 30, Skill 50, Speed 70, Luck 45, Defense 15, Resistance 25 Narbarl: Hp 90, Strength 30, Skill 40, Speed 50, Luck 40, Defense 10, Resist 0 Basically the same. Narbarl gets higher hp; guy gets slightly higher skill and speed. Can't count resistance because OOPS, only like 7 meleers have a resistance growth and it's piss poor at that. lol2% anyone? Oujay: Hp 85, Strength 40, Skill 30, Speed 45, Luck 55, Defense 20, Resist 15 Ogma: Hp 90, Strength 40, Skill 40, Speed 30, Luck 40, Defense 20, Resist 0 Again, basically the same. Oujay gets slightly higher skill and speed, Ogma gets slightly higher hp and skill. Lute: Hp 45, Magic 65, Skill 30, Speed 45, Luck 45, Defense 15, Resist 40 Merric (mage): Hp 60, Magic 40, Skill 50, Speed 40, Luck 45, Defense 5, Resist 20 Lute gets higher magic and resist (which EVERY mage should have), Merric gets higher hp and skill. Oswin: Hp 90, Strength 40, Skill 30, Speed 30, Luck 35, Defense 55, Resist 30 Roger: Hp 70, Strength 50, Skill 30, Speed 10, Luck 80, Defense 30, Resist 0 Roger will get more strength and DEFINITELY more luck; Oswin gets more hp, speed and defense. I can't count resistance for the meleers because, well. Next to none HAVE a resistance growth. Oswin = Knight. Knight = tank. Tank = high hp and defense. Those aren't "abnormally high." They're better balanced to offset Wallace and his shit growths.
  22. Guy can take out Wyverns Riders/Lords with ease and with a killing edge. Which he comes pre-equip with. Even without it, he still has the +15 critical a Swordmaster gets. Also lolGeitz. Dorcas/Bartre pwn Gietz. You must not have played through Lyn's mode, Lundgren abused Sain/Kent/everyone else, promoted Sain/Kent with that nifty Knight Crest, then run wild with them in Hector/Eliwood's story. The ONLY time those god awful useless weapons are useful is for when they're needed...in Hector's Hard Mode. In the others? lolUseless. Florina's a pretty bad example too. lol4 con? I was leaning more towards Sain and Kent. And why use Lowen when you should already have a decently leveled Sain/kent? O_o As for Oswin, 4 movement ftl? By the time he REACHES the general, it'll probably be dead. Iron Lance is cheaper and has about 2, maybe 3x the uses of a Horseslayer? And yeah, it does depend on the enemy. Why waste the Horseslayer (or use it at all) on a lolgeneric cavalier when an Iron Lance will work just as well? No point. Plus the horseslayer sells for a pretty penny =D Lol? He can kill units just fine with that inventory. Raven's stats as a level 5 Hero: 46 hp, 22 Strength, 23 skill, 22 speed, 8 luck, 16 defense, 7 resistance. If your Raven can't kill things, doesn't mean other people's can't. As for bosses, Linus would beg to differ with you on that. =) What helps? Raven with teh SwordSlayer? Of course it does. It's the ONLY reaver weapon I ever use. And no, I don't need a Lancereaver for Raven. I've NEVER felt or wanted the need to use a Lance/Sword/Axereaver. And 5 inventory is MORE than enough. We're not talking about Lachesis/Leaf the Master Knights who can use every weapon except Dark; we're talking about units who, for the MOST part, wield 2 types of weapons. Also weighs him down like a fat person on a bench. And if you want to get REAL technical about Weapon exp, the Devil Axe is his best option and that's about x4 times faster than the Steel Axe, x8 times for the Iron Axe. However, Iron axe has -3 mt, +10 hit, -5 wt over the Steel Axe. I'll take that over the Steel axe. One unit with a Door Key, another unit with a Chest key, etc. My inventory list for Raven has an extra slot for it. Shall I list what all my other units have for inventories? I could if you want me to. Units not in your party = 5 extra inventory spots. There's a grand total of roughly 3 that aren't dropped. And they're pretty easy to get to. Your hardest one to get would probably be the Bishop in chapter...27x is it? The side quest after Night of Farewells. And never did the words "Promotion items aren't worth stealing" come typed out on this keyboard. In fact! what I said was "There's nothing really worth while to steal, EXCEPT promotion items." And gems? Rofl. Please. Go use the Arena for a bit. Each member of your army that's not in your active party = 5 extra inventory spots. Dump your useless items onto them, Merlinus has extra space. Or, you could do it the easy way and SELL THE ITEMS YOU NEVER USE.
  23. My list of characters on a scale of 1 to 10... Hector: 10/10. GREAT hp, strength and defense; he'll definitely cap these. His skill and speed start low but that gets fixed by his decent growths later on. He's an overall powerful unit who kills with the Wolf Beil (lolUrsula and lolDarin) and Armads. Eliwood: 8/10. Eh. He's slightly weaker in my opinion, but he's usable unlike Lyn. His strength, skill, and speed are pretty well rounded so you would not have to worry much about that. His defense and resistance might become an issue later on, but he gets a horse and Lances upon promotion. Stick him with a Javelin and mages gasp and fear teh mighty pony rider. Lyn: 4.5/10. Maybe it's just the fact that Lyn hates me, or maybe the fact she knows I hate her. She's never gotten good hp, strength, defense, or resistance for me. Whenever she gets +1 strength, it would not happen again for like...9 levels. Upon promotion she gets bows, the most broken weapon in this game. I definitely don't use her unless I MUST use her but even then, she stays on the back line and looks pretty. Kent: 7/10. For me, I'm never disappointed with Kent. Hp gets very high; His strength, skill and speed usually average each other out. Unlike Sain, he has a decent, durable resistance and defense. Luck leaves much to be desired, but that's fixed with a few Goddess Icons. Sain: 6/10: Bleh. His strength and speed EXCEL. Too bad he'll miss most of the time. His decent luck and good defense are alright, but his resistance sucks. Overall, he's usable but I prefer Kent. Wil: 4/10. Wil's an archer. Archers in Fire Emblem 7 suck. Whenever I train him, one of two things ALWAYS happens; A) He gets very good strength, skill, luck, defense and a very decent resistance before promotion. He'll get doubled by a Brigand in later chapters. 'Nuff said there. or B happens) He'll get good skill, speed and a decent luck, but defense, resistance, and strength falls very short. Shorter than a dwarf. Rebecca: 5.5/10. She's better than Wil, but not by much. She's your typical female archer with decent speed, resistance, luck and defense. Her strength becomes eh and her hp tends to get fairly high. But again, she's locked to bows so that drags her usefulness to a minimum. Louise: lol/10. Just no. She sucks. Comes promoted and much is left to be desired. At most, she's "eye candy." Wait...What's that she's holding? A Silver bow, a White gem, and an elixir? *takes silver bow and elixir; gives to Rebecca. Sells white gem* Erk: 6/10. Erk's...balanced. TOO balanced for me. His magic tends to suffer later in the game, with his lol+1 magic promotion gain, but his defense and resistance balance out good enough to withstand damage from both fronts. Nino: 8.5/10. I may be a little biased as she is one of my favorite characters but I'll do my best to point out her cons. Nino, like most other late joined unpromoted units, has very good growth rates all around. Her defense and resistance balance out nicely, plus her damage output is very good with her high magic stat. Speed and skill show their worth when she starts doubling the hell out of most units, only attacking once against swordmasters XD Nino, however, has a very small con so she NEEDS a body ring or two to not receive a – AS. Her hp also gets a bit below average, so she'll need an angelic robe. Dart: 6/10. Dart is your one and only pirate, so make good use of him! The only other Berserker you get is Hawkeye so...Yeah. My problem with Dart is that he usually has low skill and speed, making him kinda useless in a combat situation. His defense and resistance also leave some to be desired, but they're both decent nevertheless. I just wish his luck was a bit higher. Guy: 7.5/10. Guy is your only myrmidon but your third Swordmaster, next to Karel and lolKarla. He has a very high hp for a myrmidon. His strength is somewhat low but in other playthroughs, you'll notice it sky rocket and become very high. His skill and speed are dafault godly, but that's due to him being a Myrmidon. Defense and resistance are kinda low, also default of a myrmidon.; he'll get his fair share of defense/resist up's though. Matthew: 5.5/10. Matthew is your first thief and, in my opinion, your best choice for one. He has a good starting base, comes at level 1, and has decent growths. His strength and skill won't get that high, but he promotes to Assassin who have the lovely Silencer skill; attacking isn't that much of an issue, especially when Matthew could always hit them for the exp then Silence them later. His defense and resistance also get pretty good; he's like the reverse of Erk for me. Expect to cap Speed. Legault: 5.5/10. Your second and final thief. He's a blah choice; decent stats at level 12, so that's 11 levels out of your hand. His strength and skill are very good for a thief, but Matthew would probably have, or be very close to, the unpromoted unit's speed cap of 20. Legault also makes a pretty decent Assassin, only beaten by Jaffar in terms of defensive skills (both stats) and skill. Heath: 8/10. Heath is your sole Wyvern rider (I don't count Vaida. She's ugly.). He's a very good unit, minus bows and magical attacks. His defense makes him capable of negating most severe damage to him; his strength makes him capable of outputting major damage. Promotion = Swords, so that gives him more of an advantage over those pesky Brigands who use axes. All around, Heath has decent skill, speed and luck. His resistance is kinda meh, but that can fixed with a Talisman or two. Lucius: 8.5/10. Lucius is your only monk, so make the most of him. His defense makes him loltissue paper against any enemy and his luck tends to stay low, but if you abuse enough, those will get higher. He excels in magic, skill, speed and resistance, usually capping ALL four of those. His hp also becomes decent enough to withstand a series of attacks. His promotion to Bishop gives him a C rank in Staves, giving him use of a good few of them. I would get to B rank so he could use Physic though. Serra: 7.5/10. Serra is your only Cleric who promotes to a Bishop. As a Cleric, she's fragile. She's better than Lucius however by gaining tons of luck and ever so slightly more defense. She also excels in magic and resistance, usually capping those two along with luck or coming close to it. Her hp is also decent enough (see Lucius for this). Promotion to Bishop gives E rank in Light magic, which MUST be pumped up as quickly as possibly, so that she doesn't get S rank Staves. Priscilla: 7/10. Priscilla is a troubadour, which promotes to Valkyrie and gets E rank Anima. As far a Troubadour goes...She's a mixed package. Sometimes she's good, other times she sucks. Her magic, skill, and speed are very good for a healer, which she usually caps with ease due to a Valkyrie's low stat caps. Her resistance luck also cap or come very close to it. This leaves her defense and hp; defense is meh. Usually it's decent enough for you to throw her into a horde of enemies and she'll come out alive. Other times she becomes a second Lucius and a generic Mercenary can kick her ass. Her hp also usually is very low. Too low for me, but then other times it's gotten extremely high. Bah, use her for three playthroughs and you should see how she is/turns out. Canas: 7.5(6)/10. You may be wondering “Wtf? 7.5(6)? Wtf does that mean!?” It means it depends. Canas can be A) really really good and lolOHKO with Luna or B ) and suck horribly and only be decent enough to use until chapter 28. Most of the time, Canas turns out very well, with high stats all around. His magic MUST be good prior to promotion, as he does not gain any magic. Promoting to Druid also gives him E rank Staves so if you have to use a staff wielder to heal for something like Arena Abusing, he's your man. Other times, he'll end up with only average stats and be only useful for so long until you think “He can't kill anything even with Luna. Bye Canas!”, netting him the (6) rating. Raven: 9/10. Raven is your only Mercenary and second hero next to Harken. Raven is your typical Mercenary, balanced strength, skill, speed and average defense, with blah luck and resistance. Depending on how you play your hand, Raven's luck and resistance could even go above his expected stat and be very useful. His other 4 stats become very high, making him much more useful than Harken in my opinion. His promotion to Hero grant him the use of Axes, furthering his awesomeness.
  24. I tend to use the Hammerne staff for the Uber Spear, Luna (though you get like...What? 3 or 4 of these throughout the game? XD) and the Brave weapons.
  25. I would promote my Healer first, which I always do. Because now that healer doesn't need to be constantly guarded and can fight back. Though...Wrys killed my respect for Male healers in general <_<
