I bought this game in like the first week that it was released, and I played all the way until like chapter 18 (Claude's route), and then didn't touch it again until last week. So I finally finished almost a year later! I heard a lot of cool things about New Game+ and I just had one question: how much renown do you start with in a NG+?  Do you start with a fixed amount of renown every NG+? Or do you start with the amount of renown you finished your last file with?

I'm pretty sure you get something like 10k renown per path you cleared + a few k for each game played.

I've played this game so many times I'm nearing a 100k renown each NG+, It really opens up a world of possibilities.

I actually also have a physical copy that my brother bought way back when for like $20 at Gamestop, lol. But if i were to play a draft i would want save states. I guess ill just do trial&error when the time comes.

Wait am I missing something else here? PoR doesn't have save states, you can suspend your game but that brings you back to the startup screen, and continuing brings you right back to your suspend point and erases the "save". I don't believe it's possible to copy a suspend point, right?

Lute, always need more Lute cards, at least a 3/2c please, pretty please?

Bartre, I've seen he gets at least 1 card, but I would like to use him as a lord so I'm hoping for a 1c as well as a promoted form.

More villains, I've been waiting for a villain focus set, but I doubt that's happening now. More specifically I'm planning on making an Ashera theme deck, so I could use some senators and Levail.

Well, I got my 2 Bartres (and more Fir) so I'm happy with that.

Looking at what characters don't have cards yet, it would be really nice to have Giffca to have all PoR playable units. And if we're going there why not Nealuchi and Renning to fill out RD?

Also I noticed Kishuna (the magic seal) on a list of characters that don't have cards yet, and that would sounds like a really cool card.

Yeah but for LTC or something during a chapter,, the only way is to suspend+reset?

Oh you mean you're playing on emulator? I'm lucky enough to own the actual game, so I wouldn't know about that. No save state shenanigans for me.

But pure logically speaking, I'd imagine suspending the game and then resetting could give you a new set of RNs. The old GBA movement trick also still sounds valid. Why not just try it?

@whase I would be very interested to learn of your experiences with the all-green cube! Do you think you'll draft, or do sealed?

I will be using it to draft. Obviously a drafted deck will never be very efficient, but that's what makes it fun to me. Green is probably the worst color to draft with though, since stack effects will never be very easy to get. I'll let you know when I actually get to be able to try it! =3

    Mark.

Can't die at all, clearly the best unit in the game.

Well, to be fair, without "Mark" nobody would be doing anything. The game would never even be started...

Revolutionary new idea: The best character in any Fire Emblem is you, the player!

    I'm all for it.

  7. I've used box 20 to draft recently, that was a lot of fun and I will be doing the same for the last two remaining sets.

As for Cube drafts, I just happen to have sorted my cards by color yesterday and planned on looking through my cube options tonight. It will be a green-only pool, since I have 3 full boxes of green, and I simply love Tellius the most.

I will be sorting my cards on rarity and count them out to be the right amount to represent real boxes (except they'll all be green).

As for reinstatement, I found it interesting Rhea gave him commander post back, and basically fired the previous commander by forcing him to retirement. We are told there are several levels of knights, including higher level like Holy Knights, yet Rhea just give him the command rather than other position.

During the chapter where you first get to explore (right before you pick a house, the part where you have to talk to all house leaders) if you go upstairs and talk to Jeralt, he says he's technically reinstated right under the current commander. But since the current commander is very old he is hardly in the picture.

I always figured Rhea actually believed the child died in the fire. Only upon seeing Byleth after their return she immediately saw the resemblance to Sitri and didn't believe the story Jeralt told about Byleth being born years later at all. Yet she pretended to believe it for a better chance at keeping Byleth close.

As for Jeralt, I could imagine Jeralt being a common name, and people don't usually live long in this time and hardly draw pictures of knights or mercenaries. It doesn't sound like too big a stretch to me to see this working out.

Ah, well I knew he was the one to wield it originally, so there's no question why he got Eckesachs. Rather, I was trying to point out that because he's in, we already have one character in the SR spread who's non-playable, and so it wouldn't be unreasonable to get another, especially one related to him and still story important (even if less so than a main antagonist).

As for Guinivere having S rank magic, I'm basing that on the wiki here: https://fireemblem.fandom.com/wiki/Guinivere#Base_Stats

She is apparently playable in trial maps after beating the game 9 times with a hard mode clear, so I was under the impression these were legit stats and not unused data.

Still, despite giving possible reasons, I understand Guinivere isn't a clear choice and likely won't happen. I just thought it would be interesting and could potentially make sense as a parallel to Zephiel. Plus looking at their designs, she does bear a bit of a resemblance to St. Elimine herself, even if not by blood.

Oh I did not know that, it's been a long time since I played a trial map in FE6. (And even then I hardly touched the trial units)

You got me on your side, now I too am hoping for Guinevere as Aureola wielder. =3

(And not just because I play a Zephiel theme deck that could use a better Guinevere)

On that note, Murdock just got a card revealed. A must have for my Zephiel theme deck, even though it looks like he's only worth it in a wyvern main deck.

I’ve got only three characters that aren’t in Cipher at all that would be dream additions: Hrid, Rodrigue, and Lambert. I don’t think their odds are good, especially Hrid, since Heroes cards have been so heavily female focused. But those three would make me the happiest now the Great Lord Dimitri has been revealed for Series 21 and Male Enlightened One Byleth for Series 22.

I'd say Hrid has a good chance of getting in, probably even set 21, but we'll see this thursday I guess. I have little hope Rodrigue will make it in, and I see no possible way Lambert will make it in.

As for the final Aureola wielder in the Legendary spread, I'd actually like to offer a different prediction to speculate someone a bit odd: Guinivere. I know she's not usually playable like most in the spread, but neither is her brother Zephiel, who received the Legendary Weapons SR in our last all-stars set B17. That may be because he's the main antagonist, but given factors like their relation, Guinivere's own story importance, and her natural S rank in Light magic to wield Aureola, it seems fitting if she also received one in a similar set.

Zephiel got Eckesachs because he is the only character that gets to wield that weapon in the game. Where does Guinevere have S rank magic? Is that in the unused data? Or is that from a hack?

I'm not sure the difficulty mode really helps the case for Meg. I mean sure she's useable, but she's still going to be relatively less usable than any other character in the game who's not a commoner laguz or Fiona. Being useable doesn't mean she's good since these things are based in comparisons with other units.

Sorry if it didn't come across, but that's pretty much my point. Even one of the worst units in the game is usable on easy mode. Never said that makes her good, just usable, and a fun challenge.

There are people who enjoy making up the best possible strategies, for those people there's hard mode, maddening mode and H5.

And then there's people like me, who enjoy making up unusual and probably bad strategies to see how they work, and use bad characters to spice things up. Good thing I have easy and normal mode.

  13. For my first playthrough I always start on easy or normal. Learn a bit more about the new mechanics and focusing more on the story and characters is easier that way. Then I work myself up in difficulty until I find the one that gives a nice challenge but still allows me to experiment with fun builds. In most games that's normal mode, sometimes hard.

Recently I've started picking up some games on harder difficulties, but I usually enjoy that less.

Different modes are for different people, I guess. I do see them derail discussions here often. Like when people say Meg is completely unusable in RD, she may be the worst unit in RD but on easy she is still usable and gives an interesting challenge to me.

Maybe discussions should always include dfficulty mode? =P

  14. I'm 7 years late completing college, might become 8. Still living with my parents at 28. Both my sisters are out of the house, and actually bought their own homes. My younger sister lives with her boyfriend, and my older sister is married and has 2 little kids already. Meanwhile me, never had a girlfriend or anything close to resembling that.

Lately I've been trying to be content with what I do have though. I have amazing friends whom I see nearly every weekend. I have a job that I don't hate. I have plenty of hobbies to keep myself busy. My niece and nephew are super cute and I love visiting them. And living with my parents isn't all that bad, and I am looking for my own place, though that might take a while.

You need to get all five points (favourite blend, three topics and the answer) correct to have a 100% chance of leveling up charm for both characters. However you can only level up charm up to two times per character per month.

Ah that explains it, I haven't had their favorite tea on each tea time. Thanks!

    45 minutes ago, Nickdos said:

    (high quality tea leaves?)

Each character has a few teas that are their favorites, doesn't have to be high quality.

  16. In my current Maddening run I'm looking up all the answers for teatime on SF, and have gotten everything as perfect teatime. I also noticed I didn't get +1 cha each time. I got the impression that for each date there is a cap on that stat for teatime, but I could be way off of course.

  17. Only reason I don't replay this game more often is because it's so slow. But when I do I truly enjoy the gameplay and love the characters and story. While I will admit that for example Fates Conquest has better gameplay, that game is still near the bottom of my list, since I dislike all characters and hate the story. I guess different players have different reasons to replay a game, and that's fine. I understand that PoR has its drawbacks and isn't as great to others as it is to me.
