  1. Never heard of them. After googling... I guess maybe curry? Unless it was summer and with people I was really trying to impress, then it'd be my trademark risotto recipe I cribbed off a football manager LP.
  2. New poll question. You'll probably need to delete and re-assign your current vote - feel free to vote differently on the first question now to how you did first.
  3. [spoiler=Update 67] Oh, we'll need to take a good old-fashioned run-up to this. Bug Hunts first - there's three of them. Easy enough stuff. Monsters don't scale well. The astute will notice that Caul has dismounted! That isn't Caul. I found Alde wandering around Neslowe and figured I'd take him in and use him to resolve the chocobo corraling sidequests. Two down - one left, then it's back to Targ briefly. The blue antlions were, incidentally, the upgraded antlions in FFTA1, this is a nice throwback. Wolfe and Ursla are noticeably overlevelled so it's probably a good time to shunt them into Archery for a bit. Wolfe, for his part, has boots that allow him to have infinite jump. Incidentally the laws here have been fire, ice and now lightning. This fucking wolf dodged three 99%s from the first four attacks heading his way, and the fourth was a non-charming charmshot. Our party is quite good. No preamble with Guinness talking! I was so startled I forgot to screw it up. And, yes, Alde loses his ride. ... And, annoyingly, I take long enough getting back that I miss the cutoff for the Emberleaf Bugle. Motherfuck! I never noticed this throwback before. No way in hell, fuckboy. Thus is the state of knighthood in Jylland. Er. Could you repeat that? And that's the story of how this came to pass. The knight Luc, driven by jealousy. We're taking this MRA down. Ranged weapons are forbidden, and the three protagonists are locked in as our entire complement. Technically true. Luc is a strong fighter, but he's no match for us. Destroyer just raises all his stats. Note that he isn't worthy to actually wield the Fallen Angel. He's immune to holy, which mitigates Adelle's usefulness, but we can at least mug him. That's it. Every action taken. She swings the sword and Guinness runs forward, but... The real thing, now. Not just a replica. Next up on FFTA2: Some serious Hakuna Matata shit right here.
  4. MELBOURNE CITY WINNING THE CUP WAS THE RESULT THE FFA WANTED.
  5. [spoiler=Update 66 - Nathala] I have come... a long way, since my first days. I was just meant to be a medic. Ah, yes. 'Fun', and 'games'. Until someone loses his wife. Which I did, against better judgement, say. Fortunately the gigantic plant drowned me out. And unlike our first time... this time I shared Ursla's impatience at their unprofessional tactics. Let them charge in and breathe in the fumes. If they wanted it to be a matter of the last hit, we would take it. And all I could think was this; who are you, Bowen, to lecture us? You who lead your wife and clan to ruin against a giant bird who we could carve to shreds in seconds? But I smiled, and nodded, and we went our seperate ways. Upon our return to the village, Wolfe found a bounty on the wall... and tore it between his teeth. But this was a place of some worth to Guinness, and he lead the way himself. "NEVER ONCE?!" Wolfe shrieked from his ambush point in the trees, but the belligerents ignored us regardless. A step too far. The swordsman stopped in his tracks. Wolfe gave away our position again with another wounded howl. I tuned him out. A hitch in our new friend's plan. At that, Wolfe ran out of cover, firing arrows wildly. For my part, I stayed behind - a law drafted to outlaw area magic. So it was like the old days yet again, waiting in the wings. It didn't look like I'd be needed after all. It was now seven against three. And then, with a well-placed knife, Gren made some poetic justice. Guinness was back to what he did best - leading fearlessly, by example. We dealt with them easily. Thus ended the dubious legend of the Swordking. The warrior just nodded, and left. We had some unfinished business in the west, but... Our focus was east. Our pretense kept up, of course... building bridges in a time where Duelhorn encroaches on our shores, but our focus remained east. This is the same Scarface speed battle, just with different opponents and a couple different lines. Our focus is impenetrable. We will accomplish our goals. We will, one way or another, bring peace to Lotice. We- Wait, why are we stopping? The aerodrome's that way! Next up on FFTA2:
  6. [spoiler=Update 65] We're so close to being done with this creep. I'm also gonna beat this by spamming Astra. We also find... this? Nofilia, meanwhile, is learning Halve MP so that she can doublecast every turn. But buffs are against the law so I just decide to brute force it. It... barely works. Kyrie's only action is the last, and Wolfe never actually wakes up. And that's it - Galmia subplot belatedly resolved. Cid is not gonna put up with his shit. Law's against harming the weak and the enemy are built to match you in level... so I haven't brought anyone higher than 31, the level of their dreamhare. We get off to a good start. Also Caul's - chocobo knights are weird. The perks with the green ones are they're quick (6 move!) and know Chocobo Esuna and Barrier, both centred on themselves and not needing mana. But they're pretty weak fighters, honestly. OR, YOU KNOW. I GUESS WE COULD ALSO NOT HAVE BUFFS. I've recently been poking around R-abilities, and gave Cid and Elm Blink Counter, a knockback counter. End of round two, killcount two. Discovery: Choco Beak bypasses counterattacks. Yeah, go ahead and dispel that, you fuzzy prick! We're 22 HP away from finishing it here... but it ticks over to round four. And boom, there it is! Just as SoloCross predicted (though I didn't throw the turn 3 victory, mind, I just legitimately ran out of time). We're kicked out to the map on top of these guys, but there's no fight. The Night Dancer's hanging out at the same place we got beastmaster forever ago. And fucking annihilated that map. She's got a pretty standard crew of heavy boyz - three unarmed monks with just shields (fire/ice/aegis) and otherwise identical equipment and skillset (including some trickstery) and then two proper heavies. I am Tactically Omitting Lines here, and will continue to do so. I would recruit the Night Dancer in the heartbeat, honestly. It's really no wonder she immediately rose to the top of a clan as crap as Duelhorn. Dillan... has had really good lines this update, and I didn't even mean to make him leader. Maybe I need to trust nu mou more often... Ah yes. It begins. It's repaid with interest, but, uh... I didn't have enough level 31 guys anymore and I kinda brought Wolfe so he could pick his targets oh well. ... And Gren, and his seven health, are doomed. He even dodges an attempted finisher by another monk. But even a berserked Wolfe is still a threat. So why was your strategy to be the one ranged skirmisher behind a wall of five meat? Well, she takes Gren down, anyway. Down goes the second monk... ... and after a spot of housekeeping JESUS, WOLFE. Things swinging back in our favour? damn it hurdy Dillan is weirdly... good? And he manages to break the charm on Hur- - nevermind. But then the templar's down, and, well... Wolfe snipes her from across the map for sweet double loot. Except she doesn't actually die, so it's just... single loot. Still. And the Dancer flashes out. Meanwhile I'm so sorry I clicked through a couple lines without thinking but it turns out that, well, when Memories Guy thinks of his halcyon days, frolicking with young girls... Yeesh. Whatever, take my logs which is one more than last time. And that's important! The loot is better. And we turn it into Torch's ultimate weapon... or possibly Yoana's, should she return to Rapting. A fitting way to end the session. Next on FFTA2: Scores settled.
  7. PING gonna submit another Berlin band that reminds me how old PING am. 12 years ago? Really?
  8. is anyone even still reading this [spoiler=Update 64 - Ordalia Tourist Board Minutes] Look, I'm just saying, we might be scaring people away with this whole thing. Like I just hope the whole 'getting kidnapped' thing? I hope that's just a fad. What I'm going to refer to as Item 1 is the fact that our entire continent is filled with dickheads. And, I mean, how do we keep them in order? We just kinda hope that the good mercenaries show up instead of the bad ones. And it helps that the good mercenaries are, like, proper good now, am I right? Just like... what if, hypothetically, what if we sort of made some kind of... army? So that we didn't have to wait for these like, twenty guys to come around and bail us out all the time? Okay, Item 2, which might get in the way - our people are weird, yeah? Like, the whole scandal where our one band - like our entire culture tried to kill those good mercenaries who had come on faulty intelligence and... yeah, it was nasty. (And on that note they are, like, weirdly good, right? Like that isn't normal, for pop stars to fight pretty well.) Fans? Not so well. Fortunately. In fact, what else is kinda weird is... I mean the pools are really high up, right? Okay, they're kinda natural springs. But still. Weird. Get it looked at. Item 3. Still, no harm, no foul. Maybe that could be a law. Item 4. Gods know it wouldn't be any more stupid than half the legal ones... You know what else should be on the itinerary? Like, education. Kids want it to be more practical, so they can get a good job. Like fighter. Anyway, I- er, sorry, better take this carrier pigeon... ... Oh, shit. This is not a drill, people! The Clan is leaving! It is officially time to fucking panic! Next up in FFTA2: In which a game written in like 2010 manages to be Very Dated.
  9. crisis averted. Eclipse was first to answer the call, threatening to submit J-pop video game music if more songs were not submitted. They have been.
  10. Is there room on the sprite for festivity? I love the Christmas avatar tradition tbh
  11. [spoiler=Update 63] These are the bosses. The equipment is great - the build less so. Maquis is a glass cannon without dual wielding, Alys is just a pretty basic summoner bound to run into severe mana issues, the Night Dancer is mostly going to just hurl her card (the best in the game as far as I'm aware) at you forever and Duke Snakeheart, you will notice, has not actually mastered any Arcanist abilities. If he gets MP - same with Alys - he'll be trouble. Duelhorn is a sorry excuse for a mirror Clan of Worms, and we will rip them out of this land, root and stem. First blood. Well, okay, Dillan got hit by a card for like 30, that's all the Night Dancer can really do. The Night Dancer is female but generic bangaa are all male so I dunno how the law interacts with her. What a good use of a turn! Quaking in my fucking boots! More damage than Snakeheart ever manages! Maquis teleports out. Using the quick ghost animation rather than the dogshit slow Faerie Boots animation. That's... that's it!? Are you fucking shitting me!? I swear to God, Duelhorn. We are the dominant force in Jylland. Really, the Consortium would probably give Duelhorn a run for their money. If you say yes, it's still a success - and you do get the loot. But c'mon. We're going to kick the shit out of them. They do their thing of attacking us from close up, and that's sort of compromised by the fact that they aren't very good. The law is against non-elemental effects and weapons and I pick my team very carefully around it but somehow Ursla's dark-elemental longbow violates it. By the way, I don't think I've showcased it, but all their animals are always called Zedlei Produce. And we get 5000 gil. Well, are they present at the auction? Apparently so! How cute. Only the armlet is even useful. We go across the sea by way of boatclean. That's the best rapier in the game (Nofi), really good light armour (Dillan) and the strongest pole we have that teaches Melee Doubleshot to Cid. Nofilia now has more attack than everyone but Guinness (strongest weapon in the game), Adelle (two swords), Elm (by 2), Torch and Ursla. Duelhorn, Duelhorn, Duelhorn. I'd feel sorry for them, almost, if I cared about their feelings. Let's handle something more important than Duelhorn. Filler missions. One of these attacks is unlike the others. Checks out. Next up on FFTA2: Sexual dimorphism.
  12. Eurovision's about some big sprawling broadcasting network instead, which is why a ton of fringe-at-best European countries can compete. Not Australia, though. We're just, I dunno, I guess they recognised that we were able to instantly place 5th with a washed-up Australian Idol winner from like ten years ago.
  13. John Cooke is a fucking hero. He was the lawyer who secured a conviction against King Charles I when most other lawyers literally just fucking fled London at full pace. How do you beat divine right with law? Cooke found a way. Of course he was later executed for this, and since history is written by the victors he's been the victim of character assassination for generations. Related, while Oliver Cromwell was Not A Good Person he's definitely been demonised by a broader royalist narrative - same deal with Richard III, because weirdly Shakespeare had a vested interest in smearing the guy who the Queen, his main client, 's grandfather had killed to take the throne.
  14. THERE ARE NO SONGS IN THE BACKLOG Therefore I, Parrhesia, had to improvise something and continue to be the most mainstream basic bitch contributor, hell yeah
  15. [spoiler=Update 62] You know what Ashleaf means. The quests are incidental. ... says Ursla, nocking her first arrow. Yet again, Duelhorn are pretty basic and... weird. The thief has no weapon, just a flame shield. Slowed, disabled and killed before her second turn, even though Ursla wasted two arrows on her when she turned out to be dark-immune. Annoyingly, my great theory - handing Caul a lance so he could stab two squares or beak one - doesn't actually work. I'll give him back his adamantine blade nobody else wants. Vitals shot does a random status... including 'having one HP', which hits Adelle. The warrior finishes it with the advanced dragoon skill, the only one he knows. Ursla spent her first two shots dealing 0 damage to the fencer, her next both missing the thief... really, a one-shot is about time. Blue magic is way better in FFTA1. I think Bad Breath only does One status rather than rolling a whole shitton of dice at once, though I'm not 100% sure. The main good one is still worth getting... if we find, and can tame, a faerie. That said, this is just Duelhorn's weak baby scouts. Weird and tough... but not that strong. New paperweight for 150 quests! So yeah, this is the secondary plot of the game. It's this game's equivalent of the Borzoi/Redwings subplot from FFTA1, which I believe was actually comprised of more quests than the main questline. That may or may not also be true of Duelhorn. ... So is it GAIT or GATEsnipe? you absolute motherfuckers. We've found it. Jylland's shittest clan. Yeah whatever we'll just run up to them and twat them. Gaitsnipe's guys are equipped mediocre, overall. Archer stats were bad enough for Rodanu - they're terrible now. The gunner and woefully underlevelled flintlock, too - the flintlock alone is level 24, the quest rank, instead of in the 28-30 range like our party. Was this quest just, like, not proofread at all? Archers melee counter with their fists. Crosscounter ignores reaction abilities and deals more damage depending on which one's equipped. I... may have been underestimating Ultima in this game. I'll gif it next time, the animation is spectacular. Eh. Not the best of hauls, in all honesty. Let's at least check out. what !!!THE ONE CALLED SNAKEHEART IS THE EVIL ONE!!! Sounds good to me. Let's show these pricks who really dominates Jylland.
  16. FUCKING General Douglas MacArthur. A total liability in the Kokoda campaign, with no faith in the Australian militia who were routinely outperforming his own regulars.
  17. Dijon Mustard admires our subject. "bold of scott to go with the subtitle "high quality audio" real power move," after all.
