  1. Ping: "This song because the Pixies are an amazing band and Where is my Mind isn't the only piece they created. This particular live recording because it is approximately 2.1379x more awesome than the studio version." Also we're down to a buffer of One again.
  2. [spoiler=Update 54b - Yoana Wolfe Yvet] But the burning question... why our judge? Why would she want our judge? Ohhh, shit. Wait- - no! "... Shit, where'd they go?" "There was... a bright light, I just..." "Where did they go?!" "Quickly, quickly, a rift, let's make our way through!" "Is this a good idea-" "I'm going in! They might still be in danger!" "Do you owe them that much?" "Like hell, but that's what they're paying me for!"
  3. [spoiler=Update 54 - Yoana Wolfe Yvet] Filled with trepidation as we march into the jaws of a trap. At last there's a name. Sends a shiver down my spine. Illua. Illua. Illua. A worthy head for the wall, Ursla would say. Ursla says a lot of things. Waiting in the wings. They think our leader came almost alone. Was it a mistake to come here? This is their strongest point you never attack an enemy at their strongest point hit where they're weak where are Khamja weak six of them and six of us Not a chance in hell. We've unfinished business. I should have said my farewells to Ursla. If we are to die then let us at least die with smiles on our faces. Just drop 'em one by one. By the numbers. Cut off the head and the body will fall. Cut off the head and the body will fall. Cut off the head and the body will... Backs to the wall. Caution first. No chances taken. Damn it! But if we fall here, we'll... The judge is gone?! Shit, they can DO that?! This parlour trick again. Still not impressed. We're good enough to do this. We're gonna do this. We'll not go down without a fight. Fuck it. No laws, no escape, let's just kill 'em all! She just stands and watches, as Adelle confuses the spellsword... ... but the ploy works perfectly. Two birds. One stone. No time for guilt or remorse. Just putting them down like the dogs they are. No quarter. Tch. They just steal our best tactics from us. FUCK- WHAT- GODS- But we go again, and another's down. Shit, the boss- ! Nathala's close at hand. He'll be alright. But there's no time to- Keep on killing. KEEP ON KILLING. Damn it, damn it- We can do this... We can do this! Keep... killing... It's not much further... she's flagging. She's wounded badly. Got to finish this. Got... to... Target's down. Yoana's... I'll get her to safety. Get... off... me... Whether she wants me or not.
  4. Our stereotypes own and are entirely cool and should be embraced
  5. Shadowess: 'i wish this one got a music video because she can dance amazingly, but it didn't so here's the audio'
  6. ... Well, I will probably end up cheating, then. I probably won't be level 50 when I finish the other 298 quests!
  7. [spoiler=Update 53b - Yoana] There was... an almighty row, inside. We speculated from outside. Figured it was only a matter of time. A lot of the other guys who Guinness had brought in didn't seem to get it, Wolfe and Gren and the like - but Nofilia asked them softly, if you spent half a year waylaid in bed and a child you'd taken in out of kindness overshadowed you, took the glory and seemed to most of your clan to have taken the leadership... could you truly say in good conscience not to resent him? Not to hate him? Nobody could answer her. Hearing his footsteps coming, we made ourselves scarce. He didn't fall for it for a second, but contented himself by glaring at Nofilia before moving on his way. Guinness stepped out from the pub. He didn't look too surprised to find us there. Just asked for three willing fighters, for something important. I will be there.
  8. [spoiler=Update 53a - Yoana] The nick of time. That's our business, of course - we're the best in the business. Guinness tries diplomacy, but it's never going to work. This is gonna be settled with violence. And a blatant disregard for the law. Just like old times, eh? Smug prick that he was, I didn't think he was a killer, and I didn't care terribly if he was. The fluttery one proved useful, at least. Truth be told? I hate fighting seeq. The folds of fat have a way of trapping your sword on entry, so you really need to focus on slicing them open. We came just in time, though. These soft little pirates were melting like chocolate soldiers. Had to drag her aside and force a potion down her throat. The first of them fell quickly. We'd secured our situation. Particularly given our opponents were hopeless. Dolrath in particular, their leader... a bruiser and nothing more, no head for command. He did, however, throw our commander off a cliff, so I suppose he deserves credit for that. His armour was ruined, too - the best suit we had. I'M SO TILTED BY THAT With the crackling of frost... it was over, almost before it began. The bosses stayed behind. Had a chat with the pirates, as if it mattered. As if there was any speculation left. Me and Nofi, we both knew it was the same lot behind the bridge attack. Even Nathala came around to our way of thinking after a bit. When we made our way back, Cid was gone. Guinness just told us to make our way back to Graszton. We did - three long days, and when we were back, we found the boss and Adelle talking in some table. They told us to give us some privacy.
  9. It's probably the worst of them, but assassin being locked behind elementalist and sniper is just unnecessary. Scholar - time mage and sage - is bad as well.
  10. 50 Disinnocent: "it's that band who did the soundtrack for no man's sky (rip in rest my dude u had so much potential), expect this band isn't a failure. but yeah, these guys like to mix electronic danceable shit along with post rock tendencies and stuff. also, while the cover may look like this is from the soundtrack for some movie, i don't think it is so stop thinking that. "
  11. [spoiler=Update 52] So last time we were SUCCEEDING the thing. Ohhh, this isn't good. Well, this is going to be a fight update, so let's have another fight in there. We are completing this quest immediately. We need to kill everyone without being stolen from. Notice the party theme. Offscript! OFFSCRIPT! He vanishes and stays with his 1 HP forever. Welcome back, Ursla. Ursla marshalling her sarcasm. To be fair, the petitioner's a nu mou. We hand the stuff over. Fair enough. So we're about to take on the pack of Debuff Ranged Class. Fair play. Well, the law didn't last long. While ranged attacks (like cards) can be used at 1-range, an archer/gunner/cannoneer/cardsman will counter melee attacks with a stiff punch. Hilariously, when Torch runs up to fight (missing), a one-damage punch counter knocks him out of berserk. I missed the right frame but those two Tricksters on the right are Confused (flickering purple). There's a lot of status on this map right now! Highlight is that Torch was talked into Immobilisation and Poison (Hypochondria is, in fact, literally a Trickster ability). And yet they still manage to stray in his range. They're basically just... weird archers, I think cards might use magic to attack and their growths are fucked up. now can you tell us we aren't really dying of disease, please and thank you So, could Trickster skills be a nice complement to Pyrrh's existing long-range skillset, you might ask? And the answer is... ... no, they may not. Also Yoana failed the Earnest Multitude again. It's a fucking Rank 19 quest, how is it so fucking hard?! Yyyyyep. Well, that's nice, at least. Mostly I'm wondering where the bloody yellow chocobos are... I was going to corral one. They're meant to be in Targ Wood in Greenfire. Next up on FFTA2: Ah well. Let's just do the plot.
  12. Dijon Mustard has "never played the cello, so i'm no expert, but i suspect arthur russell played the cello better than i ever have" and is probably right about that.
  13. Pretty traditional associations. Emotion, decadence, life, fire, nobility.
  14. The annoying thing is that she doesn't look especially feminine anymore... ah, well. Yeah, that was part of canon. The three cool dudes from the start appear as zombies, then vampires. Fixed, thanks! Weirdly made the same mistake in the new update, and only just caught it... Yeah, the law is set per quest, never changing. While some of the laws are bullshit and IMO the reward loot needs to improve as the game goes along, the actual system is basically fine.
  15. [spoiler=Update 51b] You always say that! Ahh, never change, Witch. This is the absolute least subtle one yet. BRING. GUNSMAN. G U N S M A N . Feel free to guess which moogle this is. Alllright then. Oh. This again. ... I don't read that far! Fuck you!
  16. [spoiler=Update 51] MORE AIRSHIP. Come to think of it, these too. Look. 300 quests. Can't all be winners. Was this the last quest coded into the game? Alchemist discovery - they can train three Passives at the same time. Along with sages, they're the other weird gimmicky macemage class of the nu mou. They automatically get Item as a free third skillset. We're out here for this guy in Fluorgis. I don't manage to catch it, but Guinness jolts when Adelle speaks up. Hey, it's... I mean, you're... very helpful, but I think the monster's... you know... Awh. I miss the frame, but they distinctly try to bow to us before leaving. Right. Let's find this bloke. Well, okay, at least that's some effort. ... BYE.
  17. Bacon, eggs, sausages and toast is the foundation of the perfect breakfast. Fannying about with baked beans and tomato sauce? Now there's the classic English miscalculation.
  18. I'll continue to be the mainstream guy of the thread because Leonard Cohen's dead, RIP
  19. [spoiler=Update 50b] Anyway we go to save the cat again. Thiiis... is gonna be the Yoana and Nofilia show. Nofilia only because it's time to break out the teleport boots again. You'd better like the fashion, Nathala, you'll be in it sooner rather than later. They make a break for it, this wendigo gets in everyone else's way. So by the way Nofilia can doublecast now. Just... cast twice with one turn, no downsides. Note also how Roye has tactically hidden behind the chest this time, and is thus surviving. Countered to death. We get some really high-end loot during the mopping-up process! You hit a wolf with a book, twice. Shut up. wooo Note the bar behind 'Seer' - that's how much of the job's skills (not counting passives or reactions) have been mastered. That's because the bread and butter of High Magic is tier 2 cure/fire/thunder/ice, raise and Esuna, as in 'a missed opportunity to include Water, Bio and Aero in a class that doesn't suck'. Nathala's already mastered them and will add the tier 1 black magic (and Blizzaga) to it. She's probably my best A Proper Wizard because Lawrn's lagged a bit. We finish up with one of the approximately four hundred airship help quests. I have repeatedly said that the law system in FFTA2 is a thousand times better than FFTA1, and I stand by this. That says volumes about FFTA1's law system. Something's not right here, not counting that one of them's called Loshgoobi. They're also lead by Goto, shout-out to KOTOR 2. In fact they're all laughably weak, not underlevelled but in basic classes with poor equipment and none of them have secondary skills. Anyway, we windmill forward. oh no we broke the law and it was definitely avoidable They'd be trivial even if they didn't spend half their turns trying for theft. But the quest just ends there. Mysterious. Oh, hey, a letter!
  20. [spoiler=Update 50a] Things I'd forgotten about! Things I haven't been able to do in a while! oh so loar is the world and jylland is this bit and ordalia is east bit ok. 50 updates in and we have that sorted. Keyword: hammer. That means green mage or viking... or I guess in theory chocobo knight since they can use any melee weapon. woo You know, I kinda hoped Adelle would bitch about having to get her hands dirty. Mimics are incredibly weak. Really bad stats, two movement, weak to literally every element in the game. Very high speed, though - they all move twice before we can move... anyone. But they're probably coded to get the jump on us, because they're actually slower than Adelle, same speed as Gren. Their attacks are Scissors, Paper and Rock. Rock heals, scissors deal okay lightning damage and they never actually coded paper. Adelle dies to lightning which seems to hit more accurately based on flanking. Throwback! There seems to be way, way more time allotted on this mission compared to the one we failed earlier (without rats). We're done not far into Turn 2 of 4. Easy. What a nice game. Huh? This should be familiar. erm wait, this isn't right, let me recalibrate the- So I said earlier that FFTA1's Ivalice was not canonical, I didn't think. Montblanc - who also appears in FF12 - throws a wrench into that. Tag yourself, I'm the two guys staring at us hoping for a fight. Oh, please. Guinness could've pulped you, lizard. He leaves, and I made this a big shot so you could see like 70% of that baker. And off they go. Clean 2: Clean Harder. literally nothing interesting happens. I think we found Ursla's sister. Anyway yeah we complete this mission on the side, except we don't because you can't cover the ground in time and Wolfe, who outranks this quest by ten levels, fails the dispatch, and do Towns of Loar again.
  21. It's not a double post after a fucking month, I'm just here to say that FUCK FOOTBALL, FUCK WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS AND FUCK ROBBIE KRUSE half our fucking team needs to be euthanised
