  1. It's a big deal if you make it a big deal. To be happy in life you have to not care about what others thinks. You won't have much friends / be popular with womyn but you must live for yourself. Don't buy stupid shit you don't need like a Mercedes over a Toyota. Basically Money is just for bragging rights / climbing the social lader / founding a family. Three things you can totally live an happy life without. Let the rich work like crazy while you work just enough to get by. Think about it, who the hell remembers that hardworking dude from 80 years ago? Nobody that's who. And for who was he working? His family ? That's stupid since the divorce rate is between 40-50 %. He'll lose his cash. Think about FE5 : Do you attack that Dark Mage with 50 % accuracy if he can counter kill you ? Marriage is the same risk except you lose everything, not just the chapter you were in. The only valid reason to work is to work for not working later on.
  2. Definitely sounds interesting. I might start watching at around chapter 7 or so.
  3. Promoted base Asvel has 5 build, one more than Salem so he can catch him if he gets lucky enough with criticals on the first turn. He can also resist the enemies reinforcement quite well once you get him on the throne (manor) the next turn. You will waste some grafcalibur uses out of this but after that it will give you free enemies to train either fire or thunder. Sure warping Finn and Leaf is the quick way to finish the chapter but you waste two use of warp and you won't get the items of the chapter ( if you want to collect everything like me) I don't remember the formula for the attack but the throne gives Salem + 10 def I think which makes it hard catch him with any physical fighters. I believe promoted Asvel gets more of being warped there than Finn + Leaf.
  4. I'd rather give him the defense ring. I never had that much trouble with the manster chapters ( except that one with Galzus in the arena) But having a Leaf with defense makes him more useful later on. He's forced on you so it's better for him to take an hit than being more offensive. I don't really care about the leg ring, that's why I usually give it to Asvel or really anyone would do. Keep in mind I'm not trying to rush and just playing the game normally, it's something that could go to anyone. I'm using Asvel to catch Salem because I usually warp him on the first turn to not waste any charge of the sleep staff. I then use the sleep staff on Paulus in Chap 14 to catch him with Dean, steal his stuff and makes his army sucks more. I did not have trouble with the build the two times I did it that way. I tried using Finn but if I remembered he did something like 1 dmg without crits... I tested most characters and really I only could do it with promoted Asvel on the first turn. Not really. Take levels as they come by. If you don't want to waste your time getting everything perfect in that map then just do it that way. You can get unlucky and gain no stats with some levels so why bother leveling ? Plus the stat cap is low. That's why promoting early in this game isn't bad. But don't worry if you don't abuse the warp staff you'll have enough xp to get by. You don't really need two separates teams if you can control fatigue well enough. Anyway there are a few free S-Drink but you should only use them if a character you can use to recruit someone or get a new weapon in the next chapter is fatigued. But yeah try to have an indoor team and not have them fatigued by the time you get indoor. I think the mounted character with the least malus to bring indoor is Fergus so keep that in mind.
  5. Dondon got it right. You can do a few things to make the game much easier. Giving a life ring and a defense ring to Leaf really helps. With that he can practically Tank like a true pro. Speed isn't that useful, Leaf should not be fighting that much. I'd rather make him a Tank since there are already really strong physical attackers others than him. Once you get Dagda back use him when you think you will need him. He's the best archer in the game, can catch like a pro and his defense Dagda rocks the whole game. For Karin I'd rather give her Wrath. I gave my wrath to Finn but Karin can do WONDERFUL stuffs with Wrath. The Leg ring you may want to give it to Asvel and promote him early. YOU WILL NEED HIM PROMOTED by chapter 12 so he can catch Salem on the first turn if you want to have an easy time collecting really cool stuff in chapter 12x and 14. Also an often overlooked advice for when you get surrounded by tons of enemis ; Who said you need to kill them ? You can take a solid character on an horse ( Like Finn or Glade + Olwen support) put them unarmed on the path of the enemies and voila you won't have to deal with them anymore, they'll attack but never get killed/kill so all their friends will just stand there like morons. It makes chapter 14 and 13 way easier. FEWod is the best but I kinda agree with the general idea of the topic. Every single FAQ I've checked out were really good for giving you an overlook of the chapter but you will need to develop your own strategies and see what works the best ( meaning there are no perfect FAQ, they feel like they were made by people that got out of though spots by save-stating). That's just how the game plays and it would be boring making a FAQ and describing every single turns. It's a game that can be cheap but is also extremely rewarding when you beat a chapter you could not beat before. Ah and also try using characters that have special weapons even if you don't plan on using them. I used base Mareeta to Tank with her Mareeta's sword on the east side of the fortress in chapter 14. You would not believe it but base Mareeta died less than Othin, her sword is just so good. Don't be afraid of using strong weapons on weak characters so they can level up more easy but most of the time when you are in a normal chapter use shitty iron weapons. Most kickass characters can murder everyone with iron weapons anyway.
  6. Here's how I beat it and got pretty much everything good on it without that much risk of dying(no save-stating too). For that you'll absolutely need : A sleep staff user ( Salem will do and it is even better if you captured him with Asvel on the first turn using a warp staff, in order to do it you have no formation option so you'll need to go in there with specifics characters) Note that Salem needs at least 9 magic... I had to use a Mup with Safy but it was worth it. A warp staff use ( The first one should break in this chapter if you recruited Parn on the first turn in 12x, you should still have the one the dancer on turn 25 or 30 came with) Bring your strongest/preferably more durable characters, bring vulneraries and physics staff, I also like to bring Tina, give her a magic ring and steal the Master Lance from Baldak too. King Sword, + Nanna and even Glade if you want a leadership star... Finn too is a good choice. Here's my Team : Mareeta, Othin, Carrion, Finn, Leaf, Tina, Safy, Salem(he was fatigued but I S drink him), Olwen, Fred (you can bring Glade if you want a leadership star), Shiva, Nanna, Pahn, Lara. I also brought : Elite Sword, King Sword, Elite Manual, Ambush Manual (both of them are facultative to use), some Knight proofs, Bolting and Daimthunder(if you bring Olwen), Armorslayers ( just in case), all the scrolls, Warp staff, physics staffs, sleep staff, Thief Staff, heal staffs, brave lance, javelins... Etc arm yourself well, bring a few vulneraries too. Well anyways here's how I did it : Move Eda to the left, dismount and visit the house. Move Pahn to the left too if you want to be sure she does not get shot down by the two ballistaes. Move Nanna to the right (if she is dismounted you'll need Lara to make her play again... Try to move Leaf her way to attract ballistaes... My Lara had pretty good avoid and she had Leaf king's sword support near her either case ) recruit Homer and make him move out of the ballista's range. With your other characters start approchaing the houses and don't forget to visit them all(on turn 2 it should be done just in time to prepare for the ennemies). Also have a character trade with Dain, leave him only his scroll and bring him near Safy. You'll be able to sleep the boss either on the first or second turn with Salem. For Tina, give her the magic ring so she'll steal the awesome Master Lance and make Baldak a little easier. After Paulus is asleep you can warp Dain and get the dragon lance. Now do exactly that : here's what Dain will do in this chapter : Gets warped, get dragon lance. Goes to the brown house two case west from the ballista... it will give him + 5 def and 20 avoid I think. You will possibly get bolted + attacked by armors tbut that won't kill you. Next turn kill the ballista. Next turn capture the bolting bishop. Next turn resist the ennemy and release the bishop. Next turn catch Paulus, leave him a vulnerary and the heal staff then you can basically sit either on the brown house or there's a tile on the water that the armors can't reach. Dain is basically SAFE for the rest of the chapter. No Dragonknights will attack him. Also start moving Eda towards the rezire house... She won't get attacked by anything so LEAVE HER HERE too. Here's how you can get the dragon lance and rezire without ANY RISKS at all with only Sleep + Warp... no need to waste rescue. I won't explain all but here's some tips : If you have a promoted Karin you can start taking down ballistaes with Magic swords + dismount... I did not have one so I did not care but I still bait the ballistaes with Pahn and Leaf(both of them had a scroll). The next step is pretty important. You'll need to position Mareeta or Shiva ( I gave my Mareeta Elite... She got from lvl 2 to 12 and dodged everything. Luckily she survived an hit from the boss with 2 hp left... If your Mareeta really is too weak just put Shiva there with either the elite sword(with the elite he'll take like 10 damage max from the ballistas if he is hit so he should ''tank'' pretty well. Position everyone so that they'll be 3 cases from Leaf and Nanna, that'll give a massive increase to the avoid of your characters. Bring most of your characters to their side too so you'll be able to take down the nearest ballista soon ( Nanna or Carrion can Javelin/Earth sword it and Canto) Also you can basically avoid totally the farthest ballista from both of sides if you position yourself correctly... That may give the ennemies and avoid of + 5 but it's no a problem. On the west side here's something Dondon150 said in an old thread that is really awesome : Put a mounted knight, preferably Glade unarmed on the west side with a scroll. The ennemies won't be able to do anything, maybe hit him a litte. Also bait the ballista with Pahn ( have Salem practice his healing on him when he is done sleeping the boss) You'll probably need another character to block the ennemies too(4 in total counting Mareeta and Shiva + the mounted knight or Olwen PS if you bring Olwen bring Fred and have him support her too and she NEEDS to be Ambush + Daimthunder Olwen or she'll get killed). My Asvel was fatigued so I had Othin bait the ennemies with just south from Olwen(make sure you don't get in the range of Baldak's attack). Sadly Othin died a few time because he killed so much ennemies with wrath but you can choose an even less risky character or even another unarmed knight if you don't want any trouble... Also you can promote him although 3 defense does not help that much. OR here's what I did(it really works the same in fact but it depends if you want to give ambush to Olwen ) Bring Olwen with Ambush and her Daimthunder ( I had 56 use and at the end of the chapter it dropped down to 30 use BUT I got an A in Thunder which gave me an early access to Bolting... you can Also bring Makua is she is trained or Asvel would do a good job too I guess ( haven't tested) but he sure would make the boss easier. I even used Bolting on the remaining ballista on the east side after getting a Mup by Safy. You should be able to defend with that... The only problem really will be baldack... Just hope Mareeta kills him ( with her Mareeta sword, she'll need it only for this chapter and the final chapter IMO so let her run wild while she is low level and needs the boost in offense) if you retried too much just put Shiva in her place, he's more durable especially if you gave him the Elite sword. ( you can even give Mareeta the Elite Sword instead of the manual) But I never had Elite Mareeta dying on the map ( yes seriously, most ennemies had 1% hit on her thanks to Finn on the map and Leaf + Nanna support) Really the hardest part is Baldak and if you had Asvel that's not a problem. Now here's how the strategy will change : On turn 8 you'll need to start retreating or even before that. Some DK have an horseslayer which will kill pretty fast your mounted units. Have Olwen bolt down the ballista to the east and move all of your characters where the arena is(Keep homer on the + 10 def tile if the ennemies are near it... They won't be able to do anything to him. Be careful some DarkMage can attack if you are too near the gate(they aren't particularly dangerous if you keep your positions but me I always move because of the damn DK). If you feel lucky you can even ignore the retreating part and keep the same formation except make sure your mounted units are far from the horseslayers. Or even have dean go to the center and try to intercept the DK ( I haven't tested it but who knows his lance is pretty badass after all) If really you can't kill the farthest ballista, just bait it with Pahn... YOU MUST not get anyone that could get crit or one shotted in the range of the ballista. And here's how you complete chapter 14. Truly an amazing chapter.
  7. I know that if the parents had max money the children had like 10 k or something but what I want to know is do they get better stats if their parents are high level ? Do they inherit a part of their stats ? Like would a Celice with a lvl 20 Sigurd be worse than a Celice with a lvl 30 Sigurd ? ( assuming the lvl 30 Sigurd has better stats)
  8. Yeah that's exactly it. I thought it was pretty cool they made a cameo in this game... Apart from Anna I don't remember another cameo in another FE game.
  9. Wasn't there a special event for a substitute character on that lone tree in the middle of nowhere too ? Something like meeting a character from an old Fire Emblem ?
  10. Ah thanks Dondon I haven't checked any SSS run videos, I did a long time ago but most of the time they just rushed everywhere, missed treasure and did not bother with most characters. So to do this strat I'll need to either silence Salem with Safy before he can do anything or I'll need to warp a strong guy to catch him on the first turn. Alright thanks for all the help I'll do it right now. Maybe promote Asvel to do it. My main problem with promotion is that I always want to wait too long for nothing since the stats caps are so low... Jave hahaha man that sounds almost real.
  11. Sorry your name is a little long, can I call you KNIFE
  12. Thanks for the replies, I guess I will have to try. Man silenced Tina can't talk that is some serious trolling IS... What I really wanted was to actually recruit Trude/Trewd(for his silver sword) while not wasting a warp staff. But I guess I'll try it the normal way, warping Lara, recruiting Pahn and stealing Tina's staff. Problem is by doing this the ennemies starts running away and so does Trewd. I'm not really interested in him but more intested in having every characters possible to recruit(his sword's hot too) but I guess I'll let him run away. I'll do some tests... If I warp and catch Salem I'll have wasted a warp staff use but I'll have the sleep staff... Which means I'll be able to put Trewd to sleep but I'll have to waste another warp use anyway...
  13. From what I've seen on youtube and my personnal experience I was thinking of a new strategy(well I'm sure someone used it before but...) Most people on youtube uses the warp staff to get Parn on the very first turn and to stop Tina from using her staffs. I was wondering which one is more valuable, silence staff or warp staff ? I think we could make a better use of this by using the warp staff in 12 to catch Salem on the first turn in order to save his sleep staff... This counts as one use and we get the Sleep staff. We also assume Karin gets the silence staff. Then on the next chapter we use the Silence staff on Tina ( Nanna will be there and will use the Torch in order to see her ) And we should be okay for the chapter ? With that strat we used one silence use but we got the sleep staff and it makes capturing Trewd a lot easier(since he won't run away if we had not recruited Parn and if he does we can put him to sleep). I haven't tried chapter 12 X yet(well I did do it a long time ago with states so almost no strategy) but I've heard if you wait around turn 25 and 30 without killing any dancers ( catching them and releasing them is fine?) you can get an extra knight proof + warp staff. I haven't tried it yet but on paper it seems like this strategy would work pretty well and we get an extra sleep staff. My only guess on what could go wrong would be the thief stealing all the treasures... Which I don't remember if they do... Any thoughts ?
  14. Joined there since 2010 but I started posting only recently, never felt the need to post. I played FE4(a masterpiece),FE5(it's actually pretty damn fun),FE7(classic),FE8(got it on my GBA) and FE10(got it on the Wii, one of the few games I play on the Wii... I really liked Smash Fanatic's posts around here, they made me laugh so much). My goal is to complete FE5(hard or normal mode, non-elite) without any save states whatsoever. I had so much problems with chapter 10 it was ridiculous. Appart from that I'm doing well and I really like the series. I might create some topics/asking for help and strategies in the Snes/NES era topics... Appart from that that's pretty much all, I'm a 20 years old male that really enjoys video games, especially old school gaming ( I'm Into hardcore games like Contra, Ghost'N Goblins and stuffs, IMO the hardest platformer ever made is Actraiser II.) I also really like everything Sega made (yes even the Sega CD, Popful Mail, Shining Force CD and Lunar were awesome) I also know pretty much every old school role playing games too...
  15. Don't worry about it it's a bug. She'll be back to normal in the next chapter.
  16. I would definitely go live in a house in the wood just like Cormag, occasionally gets out to do some smexy things with Tana and then go back to my house in the wood in FE8. I would serve Stefan and his bros in FE10. In FE7 : I'd serve lady Lyndis( I don't remember her country but I do remember her legs) FE5 : Freege. FE4 : Velthomer. If I had only one choice : That'd be Freege.
  17. Interesting topic and interesting points. For us westerners it's definitely in this order : Eliwood, Marth, Roy and Ike. I think it's quite hard to rate them all giving they're all from different games/part of the world/parallel universe or whathever. But in the whole series I agree with OP. Can we also add the archetype? If so I'd say Jeigan too. If I add to choose one per game : FE4 : Definitely Alvis. Without him the game would have been over at chapter 5(and chapter 5 is the most epic (I hate the word)moment in any video games I've played, maybe except for when Dekar does anything in Lufia II. Alvis is also definitely the character that received the most character development, him and Levin. Oh Manfroy would have been able to do jack shit if it weren't for Alvis. FE5 : That'd be Finn. IMO he's not as important as Leaf but this dude has it all. He was the only character playable during the whole FE4-FE5 series and without him there would have been no Leaf. The amount of dedication this man has to Lenster and Cuan is ridiculous. FE7 : Haven't played in a billion years. Probably Marcus, he was playable in the two games and he kinda served as the most trusted knight of the Kingdom for 3 generations. Not prevalent but that's my choice. FE8 : None, unfair to FE2 and FE8 but meh. FE10 : I don't think anyone can argue against Ike. Maybe Illyana in FE9 and during her counterattack from behind a wall in FE10.
  18. Nephenee is probably the most overrated of the whole series. As for the other games : FE4 : Definitely Altenna. Sure she could kill but I don't remember her being so great at magic defense. My memory is a little foggy of this game although. FE5 : Shiva and Fergus. Sure I overuse the fuck out of them but I started hating Fergus a lot since I failed chapter 10 and 11 thrice because he could not take hits from ballistas. I know I'm not being rational and I played like shit but I lost 2-3 hours of gameplay man. Shiva is an absolute brute on arena but he died at the end of chapter 6 AND chapter 9 TWICE at the arena so I had to restart them all over. There ya go full of bias point and random hatred. I still use them although and deep down I know how good they are. FE7 : Florina too. FE8 : Lol does not really matters, they could pretty much all becomes brutes. I'd say Garcia maybe ? Haven't played in over two years. FE10: It's definitely Nephenee for everyone. I've also seen somewhere that Jill was good which I disagree to too. So I guess both Nephenee and Jill.
  19. Hi. I'll never have kids. I don't really believe in the one and all that true love stuff. What I know is that most women don't understand my love for gaming and I don't want to work all my life to support up to 2-3 persons or even change myself to get women to like me. I don't want to bring even more people on the planet which already lacks ressources. It's surprising how women can change over the years.
  20. Damn this is manly as fuck ! I had forgotten how much fun it was to abuse the build levels of Lifis and steal the bosses stuff
  21. If you are playing on Hard (non-elite) and without any save states I would not recommend training Marty. Either way you'd need to scroll his speed as hell and he is serverly lacking in others department as well. Also don't forget at the chapter where you rescue children give some swords and vulneraries to both Lifis and Leaf as well as your scrolls and maybe an iron axe. You'll need them but in the other hand I've heard you can have bonus equipment if you did not brought all the equipment you could... Something like a steel sword? Klein/Kein I dunno, both of them have no skills... If you really want a strong cavalier just take either Carrion or Finn( give him wrath, his counter crit is only of 1) and you're set. Others characters I guess you should know by now the strong ones... Both Othin and Halvan, Fergus, etc. Most of them that have specials skills and a good countercrit rate are the best of the game. You also need some durable characters... Brighton and Dagda are pretty good. Personally I make the game way easier by giving both a defense ring and a life ring to Leaf... Tanky Leaf in the manster chapters makes it just that much easier. To give an idea of how good my Leaf is, he can survive 3-4 ballista shots like a pro and both tobalzas and Fred can't kill him (they're strong)
  22. Don't worry I always make good use of Nanna, Leaf and co. Lol now I'm tired of trying... Here's what my next strategies (Long read) : Unarmed Lifis stealing the bridge Key, Finn moving to trade it and moving again to get away. Asvel attacking with either fire or Thunder to weaken the fire armor. If Asvel kills him I don't care and still continues. If the armor lives I'll try catching it with Fergus's armor slayer, Finn hero lance and Dagda's hero axe. I found out that moving Karin to try to catch the upper thief makes him move faster so I'll take my time. I'll move Dagda and kill the ballista in two or so turns, I'll also move Leaf with either the Elite sword or the Light sword in order to bait the other ballistas in the mountain near the south ( the one where 3 ballistas can reach him. Hopefully Tobalzas will come my way a little after olwen and fred, he'll attack Leaf but my Leaf can resist, I'll be far from him so he'll not be able to retreat and Asvel will zap him. After that a scrolled Finn and Carrion will go for the Ballista near the Bolting guy OR they'll just do jack shit(if I plan to steal his bolting + physics I'll stay out of there, just save the house). I plan on using either Othin or Asvel to kill the armors in order to bait the cavaliers to attack my guys on the middle road of the map. I'll kill them all and then I'll move all my guys to try the lower path, Hopefully Leaf will have gotten most ammos out of the ballistas... My slim-sword equipped Karin will save the house and after that stay in the forest. Maybe I'll send a strong guy to take out the ballista. A wind-tome Asvel would have good evade to do that. Or I use the warp staff after I've bait all the knights and simply catch the bolting dude... Not such a good idea since the ballista would make short work of my character... I love this game, it's a little too luck based at times with ballista but we really need to develop strategies. This one works on paper but applying there's always a certain amount of luck needed.
  23. Damn and I just lost my Dagda in my best attempt at chapter 10 to the bolting bastard ! I'm seriously considering using the warp staff. Probably worth it to get physics + bolting and making the chapter easier.
