  1. Ahh, so I was correct. Also I've got to agree to be honest, maybe it was all the spoilers softening the impact of his actions but Arvis and his three scenes didn't exactly leave me super moved. Kind of a Brunnya effect where the concept isn't too bad but then they barely exist so they don't get to capitalize on it much. ...That, and Arvis is often namedropped in the same conversations as Lyon, and... Yeah, no. Arvis wishes he was as good as Lyon. This may be the reason gen 1 is better than gen 2, actually. Every time Kaga's tried to write a story that's like, "smaller part of a greater whole", it's consistently been his best stories. FE5, Berwick Saga... And I guess you can count FE4 gen 1 if he conceived it as just a prologue to Seliph's "main" story. Leo is in the closet and is secretly really frustrated that his son is so much more brave and free (and pretty) than he is. And yeah, the game tries to frame it as child abuse, but I know better. Garon gave Corrin their own castle and army of servants because he cared, not because he was an evil man of goo. Forgive me. I kind of saw a wall of text about FE4's mechanics and went "I have no need of this information, give me more recolors to comment on." Despicable abusive monster Hilda: Selflessly saves Tailtiu from having to participate in the shittier part of the game. Lovable and huggable (hot) girl Hilda: Emotionally manipulates the people around her, owns slaves and is unrepentant about it, stole both her name and her design. THE AUTHOR IS DEAD! THE AUTHOR REMAINS DEAD! AND WE HAVE KILLED HIM! If Kaga is dead, how's he posting about the Vestaria remake on twitter? Checkmate, atheists.
  2. Losing a pet's never easy. Hope the doggo manages to pull through.
  3. I've just kind of spent the entire morning out on a walk.
  4. Hmm... Yeah, I can see it. He has a signature laugh? Who does this clown think he is, Riev? ...Actually, that wouldn't be so bad. Riev's among my favorite Gharnefs. If you want to call it that - he knows more than the other gemstones but he's not exactly a mastermind of anything.
  5. If I ever do get around to playing this he's going to be my favorite character in the game, isn't he.
  6. Do stats really do anything for gen 1 at this point? I don't remember, do they affect the children at all, or... There's a reason this scene is as famous as it is. It's made even worse by the fact that I'm not sure Arvis knows about Deirdre being Sigurd's wife. Ah, so he does know. My bad, then. With its warts and all, gen 1 does do pretty well for itself. ...Then there's gen 2. This game works best when it throws a lot of roads at you. Its insistence on... well, not doing that can be positively infuriating. I agree, that is funny. That's a really interesting detail that I had never stopped to realize. Handsome good guy Leo: Gets very angry that his son wears pretty dresses, calls son a disgrace to his face for wearing pretty dresses, doesn't want to save his son from kidnappers because he's that angry that he wears pretty dresses. Ugly evil badman Garon: Lets his daughter go around dressed like Camilla. I was right all along.
  7. You can play it without spending money, but it becomes more and more tedious and grindy to "encourage" you to pay. Also, there's no finishing it - these games operate on a system where they have to keep adding content to get more money out of people, until the servers become unprofitable to maintain, at which point the game just ceases to exist. Awful, awful system.
  8. This one's too recent to be the same one I'm talking about, I'm realizing, but considering it appears to be a franchise and people are talking about Girls Frontline in the reviews... yeah, that one arsehole was probably pestering me about an earlier instalment of this same series. Which, I won't lie, is enough for me. I'm not touching this with a ten foot pole. You tell me how you feel about it, it you grab it. Settle down, Wraith, you're not that bad. On the contrary, your brand of performatory elitism is, if anything, rather endearing. And at least you keep the links to one or two per post - this one bastard spammed so many reddit links to lame gacha memes only he found funny that my (totally unrelated) Berwick thread started to have serious difficulties loading. And he was a dick, on top of all that. Try your level best. Yeah, gacha's what they call Heroes's genre of games where you gamble for characters, resources and/or other variables you need in gameplay.
  9. Ahhh, when you said "bristled" you meant you were initially against it... Right, sorry. Non-native speaker moment lol Anyway, don't get me wrong, that wasn't as much a tip as it was my biased ass sponsoring my guy. There's like, only one place in the game where you can get a story game over and it isn't unavoidable if you take the path where it's at. I just think Benedict makes the most sense most of the time, but that's just me, you do what your heart tells you to do!
  10. Oh, fucking Christ, I think I know this. The single most unpleasant person I've met on this forum was a big fan of this and this other gacha called Girls Frontline. Would not stop cluttering my threads with shit about them. ...I think it's this, at least. Maybe it's just a different generic gacha-esque strategy game set in a snowy world with anime girls wielding guns and tanks. (Also I don't know about the "fandom drama" part but the negative reviews seem to be perfectly reasonable and elaborate while half the positive ones are one-liners whining about the drama, so uh...) Oh wait there's only like, four reviews in English.
  11. Wait, against it? Benedict's very much in favor of giving Roland's ass up to Gustadolph.
  12. This is very funny. It's like Kaga remembered at the last second that he wanted his Camus to have a son but forgot to establish... any of the parts that could make that happen. This is literally just the Garon backstory. Reading this I'm realizing, this basically is the thing I said about making Silesse more linear, isn't it? The event starts early enough and there's enough shit in the way that you'll never make it to Quan and co. in time. Aida's a pretty neat character for how little she exists. Why does Beowulf care, though? I thought he knew Eldigan, not Quan. Does he just know everybody, this absolute rando? No problem. That can be solved easily. With Holyn's blood. That's true, but in this game's case it feels a little bit weirder because Agustria does get a decent bit of worldbuilding. Heck, Verdane too, even if it's more insulting than anything. Even with Silesse you get more of a grasp on what the country feels like than Grannvale in all of its chapters. Eh, no biggie anyway. Just a thing. My bad. I should've gone for the classic "how can you do this?" ...Which is... not classic enough to be on youtube, despite being a Star Wars prequel sentence. Huh. The archives really are incomplete. Well, here it is as part of a YTP. Imgur be like:
  13. That and maps in Berwick are rather small in general, not to mention hexes allow you to cover a ton of ground. Still, with all those restrictions, I could've seen that being used without breaking stuff that bad. I mean, the game gives you Larentia as it is. Oh, well.
  14. ...So, it's easier to warpskip, is that what you're telling me?
  15. Dang, man, you had me going for a moment. I do know you can customize the appearance of characters, but only by recoloring them, no actual design changes. Shame, especially with the whole "uniqueness is in the heads" thing, would've been cool to get more freedom with the outfits. Would love to give all the girls Alcina's rocking armor, for one.
  16. Just looked it up. Yeah, that does look rather overpowered. ...Wait, but do accessories show up on the unit sprite or is this just a "haha he has the thing in his menu" deal?
  17. It would please the jeigan as well? Do it, man. What kind of monster would you have to be not to do it?
  18. I have no idea what you mean by that but, I still say Virginia is funnier.
  19. Virginia, Shrimpers. You know you want to. Listen to the side of you that hops and cheers when Oshi No Ko says "It's Oshi No Koin' time" and Oshi No Kos all over the incest laws. What are you, a chicken? Cheep cheep cheep cheep!
  20. And this is why Roland is the best of the lot. He's actually balanced and rewarding to use correctly. Also, Hossabara. Can I give it to Baltro? I trust him, I have no reason to believe he could be up to misdeeds.
  21. So, it's a different thing entirely. Very well. The sign rests. If you say so. Me, I kinda like it just on the basis that it's a garbage bag with a beard attached to it. That's very funny. I hope the twist with him is that he genuinely is just a sentient beard with a garbage bag pretending to be a person. That's... kinda stupid, I won't lie. What if I think he has better chemistry with, I dunno, Lex or something? Does the world just end because I didn't want to bother making plank-o-wood Alain fuck a woman? It wouldn't be the first time, I made sure Byleth ended up single in my one complete Houses run. ...Wait, what am I saying-- I get to leave Alain forever alone and obtain a bad ending? Sign me the fuck up, this game's better than I thought. That's good. That is very good. Guess what game also did this 20 years ago.
