  1. Well, I do like some of the ones already listed, such as Road Taken, Dark Fall, and Misery at Hand. However, I also like the sorrowful tracks, such as Thorn In You, and the tracks relating to Valla or the Rainbow Sage, such as Past Below and Knowledge, and their reversed versions. The former ones (sorrowful tracks) because they've got a lot of emotional weight to them and the latter (Valla tracks) because they give a sense of discovering hidden, grand truths. I also like all the vocalized tracks, including the one at the end of Heirs of Fates.
  2. Does might 17, hit 100, crit 15 on a naginata with no debuffs sound excessive? How about a +7 forged any dagger/shuriken on a Master Ninja Corrin/Kana with Draconic Hex and Poison Strike, because you never can have debuff abilities? Because if not, then I want whatever drugs you're snorting. Awakening had it mitigated with durability, unless you used Armsthrift. I think forging was actually the most balanced in that game, if only because of the limits imposed on forging. Though of course, if you forge a Killing weapon... though that's more a result of the weapons themselves being broken, not the system itself. SD and New Mystery, however, were completely broken, especially given that you get so much money if you're actually good at playing them (which is not very hard with SD), or if you're a cheap bastard patient enough, you could grind for cash in the arenas. The fact that you were only able to forge one weapon per chapter did not balance it at all, really. Hey mate, that story is all too familiar to me. Let's just say a lot of banditos and spooky monsters were in dire need of stitches in my playthrough. Also, if a Takumi with a maximum forged Steel Yumi, the Point Blank skill, and both counter skills isn't OP for multiplayer, then a forged naginata is no biggy.
  3. I mean, you can technically get most of those skills for him through einherjar and friendship/marriage seals. And Point Blank is also obtainable through DLC. Not sure about Bold Stance, but that might also be obtainable through legitimate means, as well... probably amiibo or trading cards or something else I don't have Can't you just turn off StreetPass and opt out of uploading castle data for players to play on? They might upload your data to see how you play or whatever, but I don't think they force you to have your castle to be playable. But I'm not sure... Heirs of Fates isn't even out in Europe yet. I believe that's what the person you're replying to meant.
  4. I've actually managed to get some non-Arthur, non-berserker units to hit up a crit rate of 50+% against foes without the use of killer weapons; forged weapons are ultimately better (particularly iron or steel ones), even though they never get a crit stat of anywhere above 15, because they always have higher hit rates and higher might stats after a certain level of forgery while maintaining a higher crit rate than average weapons. The idea is to get a character with super high skill/luck stat and slap some crit-boosting skills on the unit. But even having a 20% critical chance is considered to be "high", because one-out-of-five times, you'll critical, which in practice is a lot. Arthur's 80-100% crit rate is definitely overkill, especially with his major classes giving him a strength boost and skill naturally boosting` his hit rate and, from what I'm hearing, a lack of dodge stats among the enemies. He'll pretty much always kill the enemy unless they have high defense and aren't an armored unit (or have anti critical/bonus damage skills). You should still use him regardless of his critical ability if only for his superb justice-dealing personality. He even gives lectures on the subtle yet distinct difference between justice and vengeance!
  5. Another thing you might want to consider doing is supporting Gunter in this playthrough, as his supports are easy enough to get (he only supports Jakob and Corrin) and you can't really get them in any other route. Though if you don't have DLC to support grind, then you might want to just leave him out of it. Though because his base stats in Conquest are so high when he joins you, he never really ceases to be helpful.
  6. - I actually enjoyed Laslow x Male Corrin (not sure if it's the same with Female Corrin). Though to fully appreciate it, you must have played Awakening. There are a lot of suggestions/references Laslow makes that really change the mood of the conversation to something fairly serious, which is a nice break from his usual antics. - Do not pair up Ophelia (Odin's child) with Soleil (Laslow's child). The C and B supports between the two are a big reason as to why Soleil is considered to be a controversial character. Most of her other supports are fine, though. - Benny's an underrated character. I could just be biased towards his gimmick, but I like the supports I've seen from him thus far. - I love Mozu with a lot of other characters. She was actually the first character I ever married in Fates, and I've liked her platonic supports as well. Like Eclipse said, there isn't really a character she works poorly with. Though then again, as someone who grew up in a community that strongly values hard manual labor and outdoor recreation, perhaps I'm biased. - People say Nyx is another underrated character. Amusingly enough, even though she constantly reiterates that she's very old, people keep thinking she's a young girl. Well, most characters I've seen do, anyway. I don't know any good supports with her, but you might want to test the waters with her. - Flora's a good character as well, but her supports are very limited. She also comes somewhat late-game, so you've got trouble if you're wanting to grind all her supports out. However, if you marry Flora, then you won't have to worry about screwing another unit out of having a kid. - People seem to be obsessed with Velouria (Keaton's kid). She's a lot like Keaton, though with the added bonus of her strong affection for her father. It could be because she's a furry, but I don't hate her. To me, she seems like a dog in a humanoid form, which is fine because I like dogs. If you hate canines, then steer clear. - Camilla isn't particularly overrated, though I think to say that she's the most well-written female character in Fates might be stretching it. Sort of like how she makes a certain other thing stretch in guys, hue hue hue.
  7. Are you on Chapter 23 yet? Izana comes as soon as you get the hot spring upgrade as well as get to chapter 23. And if you upgraded while on chapter 23, you must wait a day or do a battle in order for him to appear, I think.
  8. That seems to be a rather arbitrary system (why are all the limit estimates multiples of six except for eight?). Though I suppose that if you could grind out unlimited supports on a single Revelation map, you might not grind too much in the scout skirmishes or the DLC unless you want overly buff units or weapons, which I'm sure a good chunk of newcomers wouldn't really care to do that. In any case, thank you for this. Now I have some actual information to consider while grinding for supports. This will change up how I do grinding.
  9. You can change back to any class your character has used with the Heart Seal. This goes for their base/default class as well as DLC classes, such as the Dread Figher or Great Lord, so don't be afraid to use Heart Seals at all unless you're concerned about money. However, you cannot change to an unpromoted class once you promote. For example, you can't go from Swordmaster to Samurai at all, even if the character started as a Samurai. But if you're concerned about gaining skills, you don't have to worry, because they compound as you level up (e.g. changing your avatar from Nohr Noble to Master Ninja will still allow them to get the base Ninja skills).
  10. Dat trampling fetish at the top, tho... makes me think of this one weirdo on Deviant Art who got a little too in depth with his/her "appreciation" of my sister's art It's obviously Ryoma pretending to be Xander. Though I wouldn't imagine him being so willing to part with that hair of his. One of those is a repost, but I really dug that "Blond Marth/Paul Blarth/Mall-Marth" picture. It just oozes with the same quality that all those "Expand Dong" memes are known for. Oh, Anna... means family, and family means no one gets left behind.
  11. The only reclass option you'll get is to the fighter branch. The way it works is; Forrest x Kana A+/S support -> whatever alternate class the Avatar has Forrest x Avatar!Velouria S support -> fighter ('cuz that's Velouria's base alternate class) Think about it as if you were to have him marry/A+ support their parents; if you married Forrest to your Avatar, he wouldn't get Nohr Noble, would he? If he (somehow, in another dimension) A+ supported Keaton, he'd get the fighter class. As has been stated, the only way to allow any child to become a Nohr Noble is if they themselves are the child of your Avatar.
  12. I love Lorenz's death in the original Mystery on the Super Famicom. He just frickin' explodes. Like damn, he puts ol' Sui-Saizo to shame.
  13. There's nothing more romantic to me than getting cooled off by my fan after a serious heat wave. Which has actually been happening a lot lately, even though it's not technically summer yet.
  14. One of the previous comments reminds me of a point I think FE in general can stand to improve upon (and a point which I think that Integrity discussed/proposed to discuss in his FE series LP): the appearance of villains. You get bandits who are obviously bandits, which makes sense; you won't really find a bandit who doesn't look like a bandit because they live in a way that really beats up their appearance (missing teeth, broken noses, black eyes, etc.; all results of fights they get into). But then you get other "obviously evil" archetypes (Gharnef, Garon, Validar, etc.) for characters that don't particularly have a reason to look like that other than for you to foreshadow their evilness. Pale/sickly skin, robes/jagged armor (bonus points if they're dark), sinister looking eyes, and sometimes facial hair that they can twirl. And they're almost always ugly. Enemies who aren't ugly are usually more regal-looking and are likely a tragic hero. Camus is a prime example of this. He looks very noble, and he even helps you on your way by handing you a tome for Wendell, but he ultimately ends up fighting you because... he's still loyal to that spineless coward of a king who has no idea what he's doing. Even though someone of a similar mindset is convinced to cut his ties and join Marth, possibly before you actually kill Camus. But I digress. Ryoma and Xander fit this bill as well. I'd like villains who look more like our heroes. Hell, maybe even a change in the signature early-game banditstm. Instead, have them be some revolutionaries who are ransacking your home in the name of the enemy nation. Sort of like the Vietcong in the Vietnam War; people who aren't so skilled in war, but are fighting anyway because they hate their government. As a result, you might have enemies who look more like helpless villagers than rambunctious pillagers. And the fine-looking main villain won't ever come to appreciate you and what you're doing. After all, most monarchs and leaders don't just openly welcome an invasion just because it's being conducted by their brother/sister. One last thing to say in this post as a disclaimer: I don't hate any FE games. I'm usually a fairly easy-going gamer, and there aren't many games I hate in general (one game I do hate is Simpsons' Skateboarding, but even then it was only as a young fella that I really hated it). I've actually enjoyed FE Fates, and can get a good laugh out of quite a few of the supports. FE Awakening was my vector into the franchise, and I cherish it for that and all the hundred-or-so hours it took out of my life. But as a fan, I do have complaints. And some of the stuff I enjoy I know is bad. When I riff on any of these games, I do it as someone looking to improve the game, not as someone wanting to hate.
  15. As I said, it's a result of an overarching issue (overnerf of some weapons and certain units, and some balancing problems in general). And I'll iterate that I only really hate it when generic bosses get these weapons. For me, that either means remove generic bosses entirely or make it so that not all bosses are stationary. Removed bosses would be replaced with story relevant officers (subordinates to Hans or whatever). It's just jarring for me to run into generics with special weapons when characters like Yukimura or Camilla are stuck with standard-issue equipment. I just think "who is this guy and why does he deserve a better weapon than the stuff the royals and their retainers get?" It's obviously not a problem that they can fix with this game; the reason we bring criticism to this game is so that IS can work on improving the next game. Yeah, wth is up with that? Political maps have been a thing since FE4, haven't they? I know that IS just wants to show off "dem graphicz", but there are other places to do that than the world map. I particularly liked how things were presented in Sacred Stones, where you could travel freely, but when you were ready to take on a story chapter, it would give you the whole preamble on what you did and what you're about to get into (in case you spaced out your playtime and forgot where you were in the story). Or how in the old games, it'd show you all the countries and their leaders on the map at the beginning of the game. All that presentation is gone in FE Fates.
  16. ^ Dude, all the way. I've always loved the conspiring ways of Gharnef in the Akaneia series. Or the mass confusion in the Lycian league in FE6 and 7. Or just Daein in RD attacking Crimea because they're just power-hungry bastards. Political intrigue and international chaos are two things I love in a story about war. These things make everything so much more interesting.
  17. I was more referring to non-stationary units that carry them (like in the gold-grinding DLC). Though for those bosses, why not just give them forged standard 1-2 weapons and slap some skills on them that negate the adverse effects in a way that's fair? Besides, I don't understand how generic boss mook number 142 gets a silver javelin, but the all the royal retainers only get standard-issue weapons. Maybe I just hate generic bosses. Or maybe I just think that those special 1-2 range weapons are unnecessary when the foes already get their own unique skills and the wary fighter skill. Or maybe I just wanted to rip on them because I think their mere existence is stupid. Either way, both are merely results of overarching problems with the game as a whole. You forgot about Mokushu and its former rival Koga. And Izumo, headed by Izama. Don't worry, I forget too. Yeah, the various regions didn't feel all that major. You don't think of Flora as a subordinate to the Ice Tribe Chief; you think of her as Felicia's sister. That's a result of the lack of focus on the Ice Tribe; it merely feels like a pawn that you just obstructs you from your ultimate goal. The Fire Tribe only exists in Rinkah's narrative, which you can completely miss. The Wind Tribe doesn't give a damn as long as you wreck Fuga's shit. Izumo doesn't give a damn, either. Every region in each kingdom just feels uninvolved, inconsequential in the war. And thus, you just forget about them. As for the Elibe games? Well, you fight the Marquess of Laus... in both games. Another Marquess is a consistent enemy throughout a good portion of FE7, providing some of his own troops to aid your main foe. And major leaders and military officers from other nations join you in your battle against evil.
  18. So Selena essentially bullied the guy into joining the army? Damn, she could make a great drill sergeant. Maybe she could drive Sergeant Hartman into retirement? It seems to be like that, but I wouldn't be surprised if certain members of the army could do it quicker. I'd have to wager a guess that the level of your units and maybe even their stats have an effect on how quickly the prisoners get persuaded as well. I notice that the promoted enemy units take a longer time to convince than non-promoted units.
  19. Okay, that makes sense. I do like that. In spite of the A+ supports and friendship seals, I still feel there's more IS could do to add incentives for players who pair up friends in the latest installments, and friend endings would help with that. If it's any reconciliation, I hate the wheel and am not a fan of the later games' pandering/preachy writing style.
  20. Well, with the proposed lack of avatar in the story (which is kind of the reason why I liked New Mystery of the Emblem a bit better than Awakening as far as story goes), I'd suggest maybe the support system for the avatar could break from traditional systems. I'm not too big a fan of the silent, no personality avatar archetype, so perhaps you could do a sort of response/talk system. Something akin to either a dating sim, Bioware RPG's, or even the Sims GBA games. Or they could ask for your opinions on certain things, and you can respond accordingly (though that might be a bit much for your average teenager, depending on the questions). Either case, your answers will affect your supports, and thus impose restrictions (e.g. no S support if you responded poorly). Though I think anything would be better than your goody-two-shoes, apologist avatar getting with just about any character imaginable, even if it fits neither character. I think storywise, it's kind of over-exaggerated how badly written Conquest is. I mean, it certainly isn't very good, but it isn't on the level some put it at. It's just disappointing, which is why I think people throw it under the bus so often. That being said, I am fairly sick of the one-note characters. Yeah, sure, we all have flaws and quirks to us. But it's like a lot of them start off Flanderized and many of them never learn to overcome their flaws, or even learn to adapt. Or when they do have a moment of clarity, the other character they're talking to ruins it and says "Oh, it's alright, I like you better when you're screwing everything up" (primarily thinking of Rajhat x Corrin S support), which is just a shoddy way of compensating for future supports between other characters, where they maintain their original personality. And yes, I know that every character has a trope of some kind and that's not necessarily a bad thing, but the better written characters actually grow, and their signature traits aren't so blown out of proportion that the characters themselves become the embodiment of said traits. As for weapons, I just find it annoying that there exists weapons that only enemies can wield. I mean, I'm fine with special, prf-type weapons (like Garon's axe or Takumi's Fujin Yumi), but I don't like those "Silver Javelins" or the shortbows that only the enemies can have. That's just plain unfair. Maybe they could have special forged weapons, but nothing much better. - Yes, I'd like to be able to swipe those goddamn vulneraries and elixers from those bastards before they can use 'em. - And maybe some first-gen units can exist as a legion of Jeigans. Sort of like Marcus and Karel in FE6. - Maybe they could reintroduce the Creature Campaign, too; that could be the after-endgame-game we could get, with the ability to do after-endgame DLC. Though grinding in FE8 can get a little too easy. - To be honest, I do like being able to actually use my avatar as a unit. I just don't like them having a predetermined personality or a huge role in the story of a FE game. - Could you clarify that last one? Do you mean you don't want as many that can end as romantic? You want less supports that are well-written? Or do you mean fewer supports in general, but the few supports are better written? Because I agree with the first and last ones...
  21. I totally wouldn't mind hearing Simple and Clean from that woman. Hell, I wouldn't mind if that was the theme song for the game, even though I'm sure it probably doesn't really fit with the story or themes at all. And it'd be pretty hilarious to watch Garon getting increasingly uncomfortable to that song.
  22. As soon as things get Sirius, that bench shall be warmed by that sickly ass. Or however long I used him for in my first playthrough
  23. Arran's a joke. That is, unless you like the number zero.
  24. First time I played, I used Luke and turned him into a swordmaster. I also used Sirius, and he was a "Sirius" monster; I made him a swordmaster as well. Second time I did a girls only run (inspired by an LP here on SF), and Cecille turned out great as a Paladin (much better than a certain Miss Shoulda-Left-Her-To-Be-Executed); she never changed classes. I also actually liked using Able and Hardin in SD. It's a shame the former joins extremely late (just like a certain someone he waifu'd up) and the latter isn't able to join for reasons soon-to-be-seen. It's difficult to say which is the best in either because you get, like, three to five potentially great cavs (and numerous terrible/mediocre ones that I keep forgetting about, like Crapphis), but likely will bench most of them due to a desire for diversity. And then late game, you get two more unpromoted cavaliers just in case you really suck. Also, I second the sentiment behind liking 12 much more than 11. I think the support convos, added difficulty levels, and a broken self-insert breathed some new life into an otherwise outdated game. Some say those things make it crap, but it's actually my favorite of the Akaneia games (yes, even more that the original Mystery). It just feels more like the FE we've come to know over time, and gives me more of a reason to come back to it than just doing challenge runs.
  25. If you have an SD card (my 3DS came with one, as do many others), you'll get extra save slots, which I think can transfer to other carts (I'm not sure because I haven't tried it myself, but because the data is on the SD card and not the cart, I'd assume it's transferrable). The extra save slots can be accessed by going right on the save screen, and I believe the instructions manual for the 3DS tells you where the SD card should be.
