So, who is basically stopping after the 5*?

Why would you stop there's a feather reward for continuing to play, along with potential orbs? The quick pulse seal is also extremely valuable, by far the best seal we've gotten in the game. The quick pulse seal is my ultimate goal, but I'm gonna to be going beyond it because I want to feathers and orbs are a good enough bonus, even if I managed to cap out on rewards I'm keep on going so I can keep my current ranking and earn more feathers.

  2. My MVP is Cecilia (which can be seen by her now over 2000 SP, I even spent some of it for kicks and giggles and I'm still over 2000 ! )

She is +Spd -Atk, Gronnblade+, Fury 3, G Tome Breaker 3, Fort Cav, Draconic Aura, Draw Back, and +1 Attack Seal and hands-down my best unit at least when introduced to Hone Cav.  She kills all blues, greens, colorless, and most non-superfast, super resistant, or adept triangle reds, which is mostly just the red tomes

Elise is also an MVP of sorts as she is my buffer (Hone Cav, Fort Res 1 seal) and expert healer (I use recover instead of rehabilitate because it's better when matched with fury as she doesn't fall below 50% very often). I also give her Pain for a guaranteed 10 damage on everything that has clinched a lot of kills, also miracle has saved my life more times than I can count as I sometimes abuse it for tanking purposes.

my 4* Ursula has also been pulling her weight as well.

  3. FE 1/11: Marth and Cadea

FE 2/15: Mae and Boey, but I need to sit on this one more to the side who truly is number one.

    FE 3/12: Palla and Xane

    FE 4: Shannan and Oifey

FE 5: Finn (haven't beaten yet so I just put my character I like from FE 4 that is also in this game)

    FE 6: Lilian and Igrene

    FE 7: Jaffar and Nino

    FE 8: Joshua and Colm

    FE 9: Soren and Jill

FE 10: The Black Knight and Naesala

    FE 13: Tiki and Anna

    FE 14: Oboro and Leo

I add some details later maybe...

  4. Yeah thanks to the fact my -Atk +Spd, Gronnblade +, Fury 3, G Tome B 3, Fort Cav Cecilia is straight up OP, i've been able to do a couple deathless runs of the highest rung of this, i've only lost completely like twice? I win the bulk of the time. My Sharena it's also very good and covers Cecilia's weaknesses well.

My whole team is 4* M Robin (has QR 2, but is mostly a deadweight that boosts Sharena's and Cecilia's defense and my score), 5* Sharena (Dart B 3, QR 2, Hone Spd 3) ,5* Elise (Pain, Recover, Hone Cav), 5* Cecilia.

My number one recommendation to anyone struggling is to run a Healer it's too hard to maintain momentum without one unless you're running renewal bots like Doctor Lucina you can make that work but it could potential your cripple your speed rating.  My number two recommendation is Horse Emblem.

  5. Edit: I posted this to the wrong thread somehow... That was meant to be about the tempest trail.

So on subject I haven't my deathless run yet. It doesn't look like I'll be getting it this week I have one more shot at it at least but I'll probably be dropping a rank which is fine I'll just pick up like next week.

I tried out FFTA before and I just couldn't get into it. I have also tried out WotL on Android and while I do prefer the setting, I have to say it was a pretty poor port, leaving me to refund it.

Definitely agree if you want on the quality of the port of WotL I wish I could get refunds on Apple but I'm stuck with it. Though FFTA remains one of favorite GBA games.

  7. Both are great games but I sadly can't speak to the quality of the mobile port I recommend review the user reviews to see if the ports turned out well.

Edit: But I can speak to how bad the mobile port of Final Fantasy Tactics is, it is very annoying to play on mobile devices so I would recommend against it, but I suppose if you can get past the controls it is a good port of FFT: War or the Lions.

On that note (not sure if this is the place to discuss it but I don't feel like making a dedicated thread), was anyone else sorted of irritated that they didn't provide free roaming in villages and instead opted for that menu select system? You could free roam in the original Gaiden and the free roaming mechanics are already in there with the dungeons. All it did was save time on modelling the village areas (which they did pretty detailed anyway for the menu selection process). Just made the game feel like it was way lower budget than it is. It's the sort of thing I expect in a game like Phoenix Wright (where it's appropriate) or a piece of shovelware I picked up on the eshop for 2 bucks (where such a system is pretty unavoidable for the game's budget). Like if it was in any other Fire Emblem game I'd probably be fine with it but don't give me full control of my characters and then needlessly take it away! Especially egregious in the final dungeon where if you run through it again you randomly get taken to the talk/move/etc screen just because that's the spot where Fernand died or something.

That definitely would've added to the experience and would be a large improvement over what's here. But it probably would've been well over there budgetary restrictions for this project. The developers probably only resorted to the current method because of a lack of time or money.  I think this is a decent compromise and definitely is a overall improvement over having neither. But maybe this can be something that a game with a more ambitious budget like FE Switch could do... a man can dream.

Edit:  Another reason why this perhaps was done was to eliminate what would be a decently jarring transition between 3-D movement and the conversation system,  though they could find a way to work around this and make it feel natural.

  9. Personally I thought the story was pretty incredible for a NES game and the best one FE has had since 9. Full voice acting, actual world building, and characters who took themselves seriously helped prop it up to the best story in the series has had in a long time.  I really enjoyed being able to talk to characters in buildings as well it harkens back to the base conversations in FE 9 & 10, memory prisms were also really cool and I enjoyed them a lot. While it is not the best story in the series (though it is certainly up there as low of a standard some would argue that being) though I could see a argument for why it is and it has problems as does literally everything, but I'd argue the presentation for the story is in a league of its own as far as FE is concerned. Anything less than full voice acting would be a horrible thing to not have an all future games, and FE Switch has zero excuse not to include it. I also hope some of the storytelling feature this game finds its way to FE Switch such as being able to talk to villagers and companions outside of support conversations.

  10. I like remakes to be faithful like SOV, Windwaker HD, and Ocarina of Time 3D these are my Ideal types of remakes.

But remakes like Majora's Mask 3D I hate because they change to much and become worse then the orignal, New Mystery also because of it's overkill changes, I would also argue Shadow Dragon went too far when it added class changing I wouldn't call it overly faithful.

I assume that the mech is a form of transportation in X.

as for XC, my favorite thing was the affinity chart for the NPC characters, it made talking to the NPC's much more interesting because you can see the connections between them evolve over time. It makes the game feel more like an actual world to me. If they have that in X, then that's even more of a reason to get it, music was also amazing, but I think everyone in this topic knows that already.

    Yes the Flying Mech is.

the Affinity chart is in X it is a little different (if memory serves me right) but I did think that was a cool feature in both games.

I have heard hat X is pretty good, I would play one but I don't have a Wii U.

as for the cliffhangers, I didn't really mind it. When I sit down to play a big RPG, I usually make sure I have at least a few hours to dedicate to the game, that way if the story gets to a post like that, I can continue to play without fear of interruption. I also like a game that makes you want to keep going, but that's just my personal preference.

What do you think was your favorite part of each game. Try to remain spoiler free about X since when I do get it, I want to go into it blind

My Favorite thing in the OG game is Melia I love her character and using her combat is tons of fun. Her race in gerenal is pretty cool as too.

For X I love (I don't think it is a spoiler since its on the front cover of the game) the Flying Mech it is the seriously the cooling thing ever....

I'm sure you mean 4,830. With scores like that you'll probably be switching between 18/19 in future. I'm hoping for the same thing once the biggest whales have floated to the top of 19/20.

I do lol my bad... 19 requires higher scores then then that to enter according to Reddit though but mabye in the future we will see.

  14. Well let's see

    Spoiler

    Pulls

    Marth +Def -Hp

Lyn +1 (no idea what the second one was) +Atk -Res

    M Corrin +HP -Atk

    Kagero +Atk -Def

    Effie +Def -Atk

    Jaffar Neutral

    Bunny Lucina Neutral

    Cordelia +Res -Atk

    Leo +Def -HP

    Hector +Res -Def

    Elise +Res -Def

    Upgrades

Nino +Res -Hp (Sacrificed for Gronnblade+ Cecilia)

    Sharena Neutral

    Anna Neutral

    Cecilia +Spd -Atk

    Xander Neutral

So its actually really mixed I have a little bit of everything... But + Res or Def so far is most common. -Atk is also more common then I would like to be. Least common is Spd + or -.

  15. I am one those people that like X better then the Original. But ya I like both games I picked up the Original when it released for Wii as I needed something to play during the summer. I ended up enjoying it but the constant cliffhangers soured my experience a little as they force me to play it a little faster then I would have liked (as I like to take my time with games for the most part). This plus the more open nature of X is why I enjoy X more the Original. Regardless I love both and am looking forward to 2.

Late response. ;-; I've been busy, and I don't want to seem ungrateful for answers to my questions, so I always try to respond. I feel as though I've missed some people...so sorry about that. I'm not ignoring you! I'm always grateful for the help.

I had been considering two builds for Cecilia simply because I absolutely love the raven tome. It's been so good for me on M. Robin. I'll probably get all the necessary skills for Raven!Cecilia on the 5 star I pulled, and all the Blade!Cecilia skills on my 4 star in that case. And then I'll simply merge the two when I finally get around to promoting Cecilia... At the moment, she's not super high on my list unfortunately. Thanks for the help!

Sound good, no need to worry about responding lol. But just for fun here what your end goal (minus fury 3 I only have 2 at the moment may try LaD 3 at some point too) looks like my Cecilia is -atk +spd she is a monster lol (yes even though she is -atk the + spd makes up for it imo).

    Spoiler

  17. Well my Gronnblade +spd -atk (which thank to her high base attack doesn't hurt her that bad though I would have prefered a different bain but at least for I think +spd is the best boon for her) Cecilia is nearly complete behold my masterpiece. All I need is Fury 3 (Hintana, Hintana my world for a SINGLE Hinata) Killing Nino was hard but her IV where not that great (-hp +res) and I wanted a completely different skill set for her anyways so I will just raise another at some point.

    Spoiler

  18. Best Builds is as follows.

A: Life and Death 3 or Fury 3

B: Green Tome Breaker 3 or Desperation 3

    C: Hone Atk 3

Special: Draconic Aura, Moonbow, or Iceberg (if Fury and not -res)

    Assist: Draw Back

I personally recommend the Fury, Green Tome Breaker Build most Ninos and Julia's run Green Tome Breaker these day and the only way to counter that is that is have Green Tome Breaker yourself.

In the Future please direct question like this to this thread.

I'm actually working on building a cavalry team. The advice I've received in the past involves letting Cecilia and Ursula (or Reinhardt) do all the heavy lifting with blade tomes (or just Reinhardt being Reinhardt). As far as green mages go, I already have Nino who handles most stuff like a boss. Cecilia is mounted so that provides some variety, but without cavalry buffs, she's super slow which has been a problem for me in the past. I also have a Titania who I absolutely adore at the moment. She just eats everything that isn't red.

As for Merric and F. Robin... I don't really use Robin because I don't like her tome all that much...even though it did help me beat the 11-5 Lunatic quest... And Merric is just one of my favorite characters. I use him because I love him. As he is, he works well, but he doesn't fill any niche that Nino doesn't. Since he's pretty bulky, I figure he'd probably enjoy a raven + Triangle Adept + -breaker build.

Personally if I were you I would still upgrade the better IV Cecilia you've been working on and merge them, + units actually give you huge bonuses in the arena (as it will increase your highest possible score) that why I'm always fielding my Lyn despite her not always adding to my team. Just in case you're wondering there's no one that can use her Raven Tome better than she can especially considering that Kagero is the most common colorless in the arena, I suggest preparing Cecilia for both Raven and Blade builds as they are both useful for different things (that's what I did with mine currently running the raven build and it's working towards the blade).  That and working with this version of her is pretty bad -spd is a very bad IV for her,  it basically prevents her from doubling anything ever even with Hone Calvary  that due to how bad her speed is.
