  1. It'll be a really nice surprise, though. I've been disrancing myself away from the series in the past 2-3 years because of the utter lack of focus on political and geographic backstories that I used to see in older titles. It's to the point where I want to see a Jugdral/Tellius/Elibe remake more than a new title.
  2. Okay, it's the time of the year, yet again, where we talk about our backlogs. What is everyone's backlog, compared to last year? Here is mine:
  3. I don't get as hyped as I used to be with games, so there would probably not be 5/5 Hype by default. In saying this, what I am eager to look out for would be: (Hype: 4/5) Persona 5 Scramble 13 Sentinels Aegis Rim Dammit, Sony's not coming?! Persona 5 Royal Dammit, this one's off the table too?! Final Fantasy 7 remake TMSFE Switch version - Now I'm not holding my breath, but if it does come, defying all odds, then... What I am interested in seeing (though not to the point of being glued to the screen) would be (Hype 3/5): Shin Megami Tensei 5 Actually, basically any story-heavy RPG from Atlus or Vanillaware will be guarranteed here, if not higher An FE Jugdral remake Pokemon Colosseum remake What I may check at some point, as I haven't ruled out buying (Hype 2/5): Pokemon Sword and Shield Fire Emblem Three Houses Won't buy, but a bit curious nevertheless (Hype 1/5): Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening - for old time's sake. However, if the story or backstory gets modernised and attains the epicness and elabouration of Skyward Sword, then my Hype level will jump up to 3/5. Not interested (Hype 0/5): Anything not listed above I have to admit, I'm not necessarily all that crazy for Nintendo as much as I used to.
  4. Just gone beyond New Years Day in Persona 3 Portable! Iwatodai has gone into mayhem, with the Nyxian cult on the rise. But I, Shoko Manakano (FeMC) shall lead the Nyx Annihilation Team to victory, and free the Iwatodai citizens from dispair! Barring Yu and Yukiko, I think I like the P3 case a bit more than the P4 cast, actually. Both are awesome, though. Cocurrent to this is Final Fantasy 13 in Chapter 6, and I am getting some strong anti-authority vibes from the story. After both are done, I will play Persona 4 Arena and Arena Ultimax, which will allow me to experience my entire Persona 3-4 megastory for the first time.
  5. Now that I think about it, I wouldn't mind seeing more DLCs with Persona-related stuff. Also, don't just limit the mirages to Akaneia and Ylisse, they should be having at least Lyn and Ike, if nothing more than marketing purposes. As for the haters, well: I gather you don't like Persona 4: Dancing All Night or anything to do with Rise Kujikawa in Persona 4 (or even Yukari Takeba in Persona 4 Arena Ultimax?!) either? If you don't like how TMSFE glorifies the idol industry and prefer P4D being a lot more honest about its appraisal (and more consistent with the general tone of the Persona 3-5 narrative), well, okay, sure, I'll give you that. I admit, I'll have to give the verdict (for story narrative) in P4D's favour too. Doesn't stop me for enjoying TMSFE's story either. You'll be surprised at what you would (dis)like. I generally have disliked, and still dislikes J-Pop in general, but I ended up loving the majority of the songs featured in TMSFE. Admit it, the majority of critics generally approve of the game, or at least don't find it anywhere near as bad as you say - around the 80% mark. If nothing else, TMSFE introduced me to Atlus in general and to Persona 3-4 in particular. Now no one can take that experience of inspiration away from me!
  6. Honorary mention: Tokyo Mirage Sessions for introducing me to Atlus games in general and Persona 3/4 (and eventually 5 too) in particular, and especially Yu/Yukiko shipping and the awsomeness that is of Mina-cakes! For any of its shortcomings TMSFE may have, there is one argument that absolutely no one can deny/refute/dissuade me out of, and it is the above inspiration, full stop.
  7. It's more modern history would be how the region grew into a superpower that spanned the entire globe, like how the British Empire was. And this could be reflected on the variety of Pokemon found: Whatever tropical Pokemon they could get comes from Poke!Malaysia, sub-Sahara Poke!Africa, and some of the British Carribean Islands. They can be found in a Crystal Palace (or Kew Gardens) inspired Safari Park. Kangaskahn would be from Poke!Australia, and introduced in a Crystal Palace (or Kew Gardens) inspired Safari Park. Some past-generation Pokemon that would be found in Gen 1-4 are introduced by Galar advisors to Meiji Poke-Japan. Torkoal and its evolution were the first Pokemon to power steam used for the turbines and mills across Galar in the late 17th and early 18th Centuries. They were also good indicators of where coal could be found to power the steam engines. They would be used for the iron-making furnaces in the 19th Century, while the steam engine around the same time would be powered by actual coal, and then oil/electricity afterwards. Stray Voltorbs and Electrodes were initially introduced when the first mass-produced Pokeballs came into the market around the 1920s. They were employed by both the Royal Galarian (or Saxceltian?) Air Force and the Luftwaffe from Nazi Teutonia (Poke!Germany) to bomb each other out during the Second World War. Nowadays, however, the stray population of Voltorbs and Electrodes of today are the results of the negative legacy between the Poke!Irish freedom fighters/terrorists (depending on how you look at the Troubles) vs the Galarians during the mid-to-late 20th Century. Smuggled from the RGAF after WW2, they were used in various terrorist and assassination plots, although some escaped from the scene to go native. What was particularly nasty about them were the fact that they looked like Pokeballs, which lead to many tragic injuries and death on the unsuspecting civilians.
  8. Proof that Yosuke is a real bro for Yasogami High's Investigation Team? Yosuke: Let's go, partner! Me (or Yu/Souji): Sure, why not? (selects "Yes") Yosuke: Good answer!
  9. I kinda like to see the Asian-Pacific Theatre equivalent before we move away from WW2, though I guess I shouldn't hold my hopes. (I guess I'd like to learn more of how my country has gone so wrong during my grandparents' days.) On a more relevant note, what's the difficulty like?
  10. +1 to that - she was the main reason why I chose P3P. Most important reason: she kicks ass just as much as the male protag (I hope you're actually paying attention to this aformentioned for your next FE Lord, Intelligent Systems!) without any of the excess edginess. As for the Answer, you can also just look at the Youtube footages if you just want to know how the story goes. I did that because, personally, I don't really want to mess around with the increased difficulty. It would be the most ideal if there was a definitive version that has the FeMC's version of the Answer, though.
  11. This music has also been purged by the Church of Yu Yevon from the Spiran localization for mocking the Most High Lord Seymour! >:D Real version:
  12. Now, for some ear-bleeding time... AH HA HA HA HA HA!!!!! (Final Fantasy X Battle Theme, Tidus Laugh Version!!!) >:D ...Just kidding. Genuine version below:
  13. Ever heard of the Buena Vista Social Club and their revival of the early-to-mid 20th Century Cuban music?
  14. I watched Buena Vista Social Club: Adios recently, which is a documentary about surviving pre-Communism Cuban musicians forming their ensemble in the 90s - called the Buena Vista Social Club - and reviving the early-to-mid 20th Century popular Cuban music to much acclaim across the world. One of the musicians, Compay Segundo, mentioned the following line poignantly described the fame that the musicians finally achieved after struggling to make a living, and also being locked out of the world for decades of their lives: Sure, it's a little late, but the flowers of life come to everyone sooner or later. And when the flowers come they only come once. That’s why you have to pay attention when the flowers arrive. If this isn't perseverance, then I don't know what is.
  15. I've only watched Youtube footage as of now (as I am still playing P3P before moving onto P4A and P4U), but Chie's meat quotes always gives me the laughs:
  16. Persona 3 Portable and 4: Both also had very important commentaries that Japanese society as a whole need to listen again and again. (Basically, 3 preached the importance of living, and 4 was basically why fake news is a real problem.) They also introduced me to Jungian psychology (courtesy to Nenilein). 3 also had a kickass female protagonist (Minako!), and 4 also had my favourite shipping (Yu x Yukiko).
  17. Tokyo Mirage Sessions had J-Pop songs that even I (generally a detractor to the genre) loved to listen, had a hilarious story premise, and most importantly, helped me dive into the wondrous world of Persona!
  18. Fire Emblem x Civilization: If this really brings out the worldbuilding and politics, then I'm all in for it. Fire Emblem x Pokemon: I'd like to see what a FE story would be like in a modern-day Pokemon setting. Zelda x Persona: One condition: Atlus should develope the game, and explore the existential theme of Zelda with the Jungian psychology of Persona. Fire Emblem x Persona: Oh, wait, we've already got Tokyo Mirage Sessions...
  19. Persona!Japan - at least for there, people actually stood up and started questioning society much quicker than how some of the less pleasant aspects of traditional Japan lingers on in real life.
  20. Shoji Meguro really nailed the Persona 3, 4, and 5 soundtracks with his diverse genres of popular music including jazz and hip hop.
  21. Pokemon XY was the first time since Generation 2 that really felt like the Pokemon version of a real-life region, and it even included someone who could have been a fictional (great-)grandson of a French right-wing extremist business magnate from the 1930s.
  22. A proposed part-fanfic/part-LP that I am thinking about, which features Persona 3 to Persona 5 as one long Persona story. So far, I've only sorted out Persona 4 Golden: The Narukami-Dojima Family Naoto Shirogane
  23. Yu x Yukiko in Persona 4 Minako x Junpei in Persona 3 (platonic) Other ships that I have: Ash x Serena - Pokemon XY anime Lance x Diantha - Pokemon general Link x Malon - Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Anju x Kafei - Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask Roy x Lilina - FE Binding Blade Marth x Caeda - FE original
