Same for Azura and Corrin. Azura's one of the most fleshed-out and enjoyable characters in her supports, and even Corrin shows some likeability and depth, but Conquest essentially forces them to stick to the worst parts of their characters just so the plot can "work". ...but Xander's seriously got it the worst. At least Birthright! and Revelation!Corrin and Azura are good characters, Xander can't escape his plot problems on any route. If the baby were one of his siblings he'd object, if not it's fair game.

Stepping away from that part of the conversation, Rhajat's been changed for the worse. Shara was similar to Tharja, but she had a lot more insecurities and was nicer than her. The localization literally made her Tharja 2.0 by removing those insecurities and amping up the stalking.

You just perfectly described Yuno Gasai. Also, I realize who I hate most: Garon. Literally everything wrong with the game's plot can be traced back to him. Dammit, IntSys.

I'm sitting around at Conquest Chapter 10 (screw you Takumi) and he hasn't whined nearly as much. The worst he got was a bit of hesitancy at fighting his Hoshidan siblings, but that's understandable and forgivable, especially since the localization made him a bit more assertive about "I have to do it, it's for Nohr" after. That said, from what I recall the real whining didn't start until Chapter 13, so. We'll see. But if the whining's toned down (or gone, but I doubt that) and that line doesn't exist, I'll call it a victory.

Oh god please tell me they took out the "I should have sided with Hoshido" line at least. Please. I will take what bare scraps of not-whining I can. He also doesn't whine at all in it, just reasserts that he knows the path he chose is the right one, if hard to walk. That's how Nohrmui (and maybe Nohrrin) should have been.

Birthright Chapter 10. Takumi pulls off two crits in a row with a 5% chance for each, and I knew right then we were going to get along just fine.

Gameplay-wise: Setsuna and Azama: Useless, low-leveled, and outmatched--especially Setsuna, since Takumi join two chapters later. Benched them immediately. Odin: I'm only playing on Conquest with him and I can't stand him already. He does NOT have the stats to be a workable Dark Mage. I shudder to imagine him on Revelation. Hayato: Joins too late at too low a level. Personality-wise: Rhajat: Shara I reluctantly liked, because she was well-developed and different enough from Tharja to matter. Rhajat is literally Tharja 2.0. Jakob: Not as much of a jerk as Joker, but still a jerk. Setsuna: Azama's less of a jerk and got more philosophy/trolling that I don't mind him, but Setsuna is a dry, uninteresting character with an annoying gimmick.

There's no getting off this ship once you get on. By the time they learn the truth they'll be in too deep to leave.

I really like Mitama's friendship support with Kana. It's really cute! You wouldn't expect her to be so patient for someone as energetic as Kana, but she is. Localized Shigure/Mitama is just as good as the original, much to my relief. Combined with the above this means she and Kana are now the perfect sisters-in-law.

So they kept in them being cousins? That's really surprising. All they literally had to do was change or remove one line that has no bearing on anything, and given that first cousin marriage is controversial in America, I'd have thought they would. Or at the very least make them second cousins. I'm still OTP'ing Corrin/Azura, I just wasn't expecting the blood relation to stay.

I'm still waiting for my game to arrive, so I went through all of Azura’s supports. I may do a more thorough analysis later (like, days/weeks later), but I think I’ve organized a rough ranking for their quality. Best: Corrin, Sakura, Elise, Laslow, Keaton, Shigure Good: Ryoma, Takumi, Hinoka, Saizo, Azama, Kaze, Hinata, Leo, Odin, Arthur Average: Benny, Hayato, Niles, Subaki, Kaden Worst: Silas, Jakob, Xander Azura’s got a lot of strong supports. Her problem, as it were, is that while many of her C-As are good, a lot of her S-supports are weak. The only guys who got into Best who she can S-support with–Corrin, Laslow and Keaton–are the only guys who have good C-As and good S-supports with her, though Hinata and Arthur toe the line. Average is average and Worst is worst. Not gonna do a thorough analysis, as I said, but I can tell you straight up why her three Worst supports are qualified as such: she’s out-of-character with Xander, does nothing with Jakob except listen to him talk, and Silas is a “talk three times then marry” chain, which I hate. But from what I’ve seen, the localization hasn’t just done her character justice, they made her better. I haven’t seen how she is in the plot yet, but I think it’s safe to say Azura’s one of the most well-rounded characters in the game, and definitely one of my favorite characters.

^^ Setsuna's support with Kaze is also quite good. It's got a cute S-support, and C-A are solid, with them at first trying to train her to be a ninja, then realizing that it's best for her to be herself. Nice little bit of development for them both there. Jakob's also not too much of an ass to Kagero. They end up bonding over painting, which is nice. Nothing amazing, but it's top tier compared to the rest of his supports. Mamui's supports with Nina aren't that great. I haven't checked Velouria yet.

They confessed to liking each other, but they didn't specify if it's romantically or not. I took it to mean it was another "you're my best friend!" thing. I guess it's not as bad as I thought, but it's still a disappointment after reading the JPN version.

Could be that they're cousins now, instead of sisters, which makes Corrin and Azura second cousins--far enough for most people to be comfortable with. Or one of them married into it--technically Mikoto would be royalty if she married Anankos. I'd honestly be surprised if they left their blood relation in, though. It's handled so poorly by the story that cutting it out would change literally nothing, while keeping it might upset some people in the veins of "I married my COUSIN?!"

More thoughts on supports: Silas x Nyx: Cute, but inconsistent with the rest of her supports--she keeps her curse a secret in them, but apparently it's common knowledge here. The full JPN version was never translated, so I can't compare it. Kaden x Hana: Quite good for them both! Slightly improved from the JPN version, mostly just because of a few tweaks to both their dialogue. They play off each other well. Keaton x Nyx: They ruined the S-support. It comes across as her settling for him, not loving him. Combined with the clunky C-A, it's slightly worse than the JPN version. Kaze x Setsuna: I found a good support for Setsuna! :D She's not too "out of it" here, but not out of character either. Basically it's them both learning to keep to their strengths, which is nice. In the same boat as Kaden x Hana, in that it's better because of minor dialogue tweaks instead of giant revamps. Femui x Rhajat and Mamui x Niles: They removed the gayngst in the S-supports, which I know some people complained about, but it was kind of realistic and I honestly thought NoA could handle it well. The same-sex S-supports just lost...something without that bit. Even worse, Rhajat and Femui share Mamui's support chain, which is awful. Mamui x Niles is still workable, but weaker; Femui x Rhajat got tanked hard.

That was my second choice for Shigure and Soleil :-; It was such a good support. At least they left Shigure/Mitama as is...

oh my god thank you. Quick overview of some of the supports I wanted to look at: Kaze/Nyx: Mixed. They gave Kaze a bit of a trolling edge here while keeping his kindheartedness, which I like. Dunno how I feel about some of Nyx's lines in the S-support, though, I'll probably have to see her expression in the game. Shigure/Fem!Kana (non-sibling): Holy crap that's awful. She's straight-up bullying him. On the plus side, they don't try to shoe-horn in "I love you" in the S-support... But this is honestly awful. Shigure/Mitama: Beautiful. They took a great support and made it even better. It's one of the few kid supports that ends romantically, from what I can tell, which is a definite plus. Silas/Mozu: The S-support seems weaker, but its still very solid. Forrest/Fem!Kana: It ends with them being just friends why D: Other than that, it's still great, probably one of Fem!Kana's best supports. Camilla/Niles: I love the A support, it's so much better. Camilla unleashes a lot of anger about her past, as opposed to her stoicism in the JPN version, which does amazing things for her character. S-support feels rushed, but no more so than the JPN version. An improvement, overall.

Welcome to the Forest, Ms. Strober! I'm so sorry your first encounter with the FE fanbase was with those weebs--not everyone is as awful as them. I'm glad to that you found your appreciation thread and that it cheered you up--you seriously did not deserve the bashing you got at first. Your singing and voice work for Azura were amazing, and I can't stop listening to your renditions of "Lost in Thoughts All Alone". NoA had a good eye for talent when they picked you for the role, because you brought it to life. You've earned every bit of praise you've received, and you absolutely did not deserve the bashing you first got.

^ Ah thank you! That's very similar to the JPN version, the difference being they cut out Azama talking about religion for more philosophy.

I've never read their supports before, but that was actually pretty cute. AzamaxEffie is really hard to displace in my heart, though. The localization would have to completely butcher their supports for me to change my mind. Speaking of which, have they been translated? I'm not trying to pressure anyone, just curious!

Oh, that is cute. For a minute I was worried you meant they always asked and always got shot down, which would be depressing to me. But them having platonic S-supports, with the possibility of more in the future, is a nice compromise.

So my Forrest/Kana ship is sunk? :( Did they do this just for Kana, or for Midori and Percy as well? Because I highly doubt they can pass either of them off as adults, or have them get away with "best friending" Corrin when they have a kid.
