Oh do NOT get me started on how bitter I am they threw away the very promising familial theme for S-ranks with the siblings. I feel like it really weakened the story, especially the parts where they had to try and justify marrying the Hoshidans. Azura being able to marry the siblings I still find a little squicky, but at least it's not detrimental to the plot like Corrin/siblings is.

I figured he was blushing because he was unused to being praised, not because he was romantically interested in her. Especially considering her calls her "sister" right after.

I'm not the only one who believes this!

Yeah, I love Azura's (and Corrin's) C-A chains with their siblings, but as soon as you bring S-supports into it I just back down. It's just...no. Especially in Azura's case, her C-A's with Ryoma and Takumi are all about them growing closer as brother and sister and they're really nice and sweet, and then bam it's suddenly "haha no joking I always wanted to bang you". The only ones even coming close to it in creepiness are Corrin/Camilla and Corrin/Elise. The JPN versions were even worse--Azura says in her S-support with Takumi he'll always be her little brother, he confesses, and she decides "whelp, I'm never getting anything better", and Camilla practically pressures Corrin into marrying her when he's clearly uncomfortable with it.

No; she's the deuteragonist, but I don't consider her a lord because you don't get a Game Over if she dies.

Chapter 10/Epilogue:

I definitely think the plot took several months, I don't consider Hoshido and Nohr to be, like, super-huge. Germany-size each, and you can cross Germany on foot in two weeks. Granted, that's for one person and not an entire army, which would move slower by default since you also have to transport supplies, and it doesn't account for battles or bad weather. But I definitely don't think it took over a year, or at least not until after the trip to Valla in Revelation, because otherwise Azura would describe the skies switching in Revelation as "a year away" or something.

That's awesome! Thank you for all your hard work! Are you going to translate the Revelation anthology too, or take a (well-earned) break?

I don't hold it against the first-gens either because they were saddled with stupidity for the sake of fanservice. It's very clearly a case of "being dumb/awful because that's what the devs wants" rather than "being dumb/awful because you are". I just pretend the kids were never born by not recruiting them. Stuff like Nina's misaligned hair and crit portrait, Midori's ever-green eyebrows, and the kids all having the same "filler" gray eyes, plus the fact we only heard about them a week from release, does seem to indicate they were last-minute additions.

Huh, so the dragon form DOES have a mouth. I mean I figured it did since Anankos did, but nice to get confirmation (of a sort). I really enjoyed Kana and Corrin's strip. Corrin scolding a literal dragon and calling her "young lady" just made my day XD. How many more pages are in this, Kirokan? I though it was just 100, but your last post suggests there's more.

I thought it was because of the different games, too, but then I remembered Corrin has the same support regardless of route with the other neutrals. So they COULD have written a support that would fit all routes for Azura, they just chose not to. But my point about gender context was referring to how a relationship between characters is portrayed/seen by the audience, not how the audience feels about the character themselvses. I'm a female too, and I definitely teared up at the end of Birthright. They wanted to make the player attached to her and, for me, they succeeded. I get where you're coming from on the "forced emotion in supports" part. It's particularly notable in their S-supports, because they have to make love and marriage come out of something that was mostly Corrin just listening to someone else talk. The only first-gen supports of theirs I'm really fond of are characters they already have a pre-existing relationship with (basically the neutrals and the royals) because they don't need to do all that introduction silliness and have more natural interactions. And I've already established I dislike Corrin's pairings with the royals :P

People say it's pushed because of things like her--and only her--having extra confessions with him, extra support chains with him, and shippy dialogue with him like Chapter 5's "I feel safe when I'm with you" or the stuff at the lake at the end of the game. The dialogue is mostly the same between genders, I think there's like...one or two lines that are different for male and that's it? But see, a character's gender can totally change the feel of something; dialogue that feels platonic for two women can feel completely romantic when it's between a woman and a man (for example: in media, a woman telling a man she feels safe with him is usually romantic, while a woman telling another woman she feels safe with her is usually an assertion of friendship/trust). And when Azura gets more dev stuff with M!Corrin than anyone else, and when you remember she was supposed to have even more, like unique mother-daughter supports with Kana, it pretty easily feels like the devs really wanted him to marry her. I disagree about Corrin themselves being bland and emotionless, but I do agree that most of their first-gen supports are bad. Since Corrin's "the player", a support with most characters introduces them, has them exposition about their gimmick/backstory, and then bammarriage. Which is just dull and unbelievable.

More ships I forgot. These aren't super-popular, but I do dislike them and see them too often for my tastes: Hayato x Nyx: Great gameplay, but their supports were just kind of underwhelming for me. Kaze x Azura: This is like the above in that the gameplay is good, but the supports weren't. Kaze slipped in and out of being formal and being teasing too much, and Azura opened up too fast to someone she's never spoken to before. M!Corrin x Niles: I get people are happy to finally have gay pairings available, and I'm glad for you, but I just wasn't feeling the chemistry with their supports. It's pretty much Niles just expositioning about his backstory while Corrin nods and listens. Even the JPN S-support pointed out that the sudden "I like you" came out of nowhere. And the big, super-popular one: Leo x Takumi: I dislike shipping people outside their sexuality. I especially dislike it when people do it because they think male-on-male or female-on-female is hot. And since the only bi characters in the game are Corrin, Niles, Rhajat, and Soleil, things like Ophelia x Soleil, F!Corrin x Azura, M!Corrin x Silas, etc, earn my ire, but none more than Leo x Takumi. Because it is EVERYWHERE and mostly seems to be a case of "they're hot boys who argue, let's pair them and write steamy yaoi hatesex~", especially on Ao3. Their supports were actually nice, but I can't enjoy them anymore because of the yaoi fangirls.

Oh, this is going to end well... Subaki x Selena: Like most other people have said, the concept of marrying Selena to a male version of her mother so she can give birth to her mother is ultra-creepy and screams Freudian issues to me. Odin x Elise: Alright, I get it, they have great gameplay viability. But they also have better supports elsewhere, and similar to the above, Elise is just a little too similar to Odin's mom for my comfort. Fem!Corrin x royal brothers: God these are everywhere and I hate it. I'd actually hate these even if they weren't popular, because they came about as a result of IntSys throwing away the promising family theme in the beginning so fangirls could bang their attractive brothers. Ryoma x Camilla: This kind of reminds me of Frederick x Cordelia in that people always hate it on the forums, but ff.net is full of stories with it, so it's both popular and disliked. But for me? Bleh, their supports were so boring. Such wasted potential.
