  1. What does that essay by Jonathan Swift have to do with anything? And Yes, I've read it, and Yes, I am completely aware that you did not mean to get a reply out of anyone else besides whom you were addressing, Anacybele. Sorry If I pose harm to anyone, as that is not my intent. I simply desire an answer to a question brought about by the above post. (I'm not in any hurry either.)
  2. Shadow Dragon: Good game, has bad stuff. Least Favorite thing: Enemies on Higher difficulties have weapons that you yourself cannot access, and some are forged. It's Bullshit, and is slightly unfair. However, If it is unfair, what would I compare it to?
  3. FE 1 - Sage/mage - No res/10 FE 2 - Falcon Knights - Effective against Zombies FE 3 - Not Played FE 4 - Master knight, or Paladin - Look at Awesome Finn! FE 5 - Thieves *Cough* Lara *Cough* (Archer is my favorite class, regardless of the game, but the rest are classes I prefer to use in almost every playthrough of the respected game) FE 6 - Berserker - they crit FE 7 - Pegasus knight - they fly FE 8 - Bishop - Slayer skill OP FE 9 - Not Played FE 10 - Swordmustard - Astra crit, Astra crit, Astra crit! FE 11 - Theif/Julian - Theives are not useless in this game, as door keys cost money. FE 12 - Generals, dude. The tanking. FE 13 - Dark mage. It's a no-brainer. FE 14 - Archer/Sniper. Any bow user, really. But Takumi is just so good...
  4. Solo's the Game Teir: >>>> Sigurd. Freakin' Love the guy. His love with Deidiadora (however you spell her name) was explained like a fairy tale. So.. It fit that he went down like in a Grimm Fairy Tale. At least he didn't Burn to death---- Oh... wait a minute.... Fav's teir: >>>Ike. Badass to the core, gets a great sword and Promotion, has good story about him, and Hell... Let's be friends has never felt more Cliche coming out of the mouth of a buff warrior who breaks the world in half.... i love the guy. No homo. Okay, maaaayyyybe just a little for his muscles in RD. >>Michiah - Shut up. She Looks AMAZING, she uses light magic which is pretty, and She is one of the only lords who expresses Grey morality in a way that makes a love/hate relationship. Like the oil. BURN THOSE STUPID APOSTLE BIT**** ***** ******* *** ** **************!!$@$!#@!%@^#!!!!!!!! Oops. Got a little carried away, but I like Michiah. It's fun to have a power mage. ^_^ Eliwood. I. Cannot. Hate. This. Man. No. Matter. WHAT. He's too adorable with Ninian, and he gets a horse upon promotion. "ARE MARTH AND ROY IN THIS TEIR?" Teir >Marth (FE 11) - He has good character, and in the other games he makes nice descisions. Huh? FE 12? I like that game, but some people disagree. >Roy - I have found a new Love for Roy. He takes on an army at a young age, and deals with things like a true leader would. TAKE THAT, EMMERYN! Also he has access to the most overpowered blade in the franchise. The Flaming Dragon-Slaying Dildo. (Mods don't ban me pls. I'm trying to be funny...) > Hector - He... there are no words. Ok. One word. Rough. He's awesome, Kick ass, and he just likes to do what makes him happy. And that's pretecting his friends. "Cool Bros & Hoes Teir" >Lyn. Like her. While she may not be relevant... well, watch my FE 7 LP on youtube, and you might find out why. (Dunno if It's safe to link it, so I'll just Leave you with the title of an episode at the bottom of the post) >Erika - Naive, but I love her design and support with Inness and Forde. Plus.. that skirt needs to not fly up like that, milady. >Alm - Not much to say, really. Except he is so much of a badass, that he tosses his sheild, goes YOLO on the Final Boss, and Stabs Doma in the damn eye! Who Else in Fire Emblem Does that? Who? >Celica - She's just as badass as alm, if not more pristine and caring. I guess. I never really got what her character was. Too focused on Alm. >Leaf - While he's not the best game-play wise, he learns from his mistakes. Basically, will not repeat what Mageknight 404 says about him, but I agree. (Pugi is the real Lord of thracia 776) >Seliph - The one lord who I still have no clue what he's about. He's a fancy liberator, and he has conflict with what he's trying to take down. But I just.. don't see his character. That's why he's lower on this thing. Not too bad, but still meh Teir: Chrom - He's a mix of Ike and Marth. But he's still ok. I don't hate him. His supports with Frederick are nice. And Gaius. Don't Consider them Lords So they deserve to get shunned teir: >Kris - He's good in combat, and a few of his supports (like literally 3 or 4) are thought out well enough. As a character, I feel that he's bland, but his inclusion and presecnce of the assasin sub plot open way for a theory or two. Anna... hmpf. Anyway, I feel like I'm creating the greatest Generic to ever live, rather than my own Unit/avatar. I like the beginning of the game (FE 12) for this reason as well. >Lucina - Yes, she is a lord class, but she's just so wish washy to me, just like the plot of awakening. But Laura Bailey's voice acting talent makes up for it. And some of the famous meme crit quotes. I don't enjoy her as a unit or character. >Robin - WHY THE #@$% DOES HE EXIST!? I know the devs were doing something with him, Jack of all trades, and everything, but... no. I just don't Like him. I can't. At the very least his supports are well fleshed out so he feels like a person with a ton of hobbies instead of a social chameleon. PURE HATE Teir: >Corrin. Bleh. Boring, stupid, irratinal, stupid, avatar, stupid, emotionally challenged, stupid, and stupid. Oh, did I also mention that he's the reason that fates's story falls flat on it's ass? Main character/lord avatar OP. Not a good thing to do, IS. >>EPHRIAM; THE GARY STUE. He's too damn perfect, plot armor releshes in making him succeed when it shouldn't. Lance Lord, you say? No. He's a disgrace to the special Class. I HATE EPHRAIM. My least favorite because outside of his overpowered plot skills, he has like NO character to speak of. Literally, "I'm Ephraim. I'm powerful. Try to hurt me, wimp!" Like one of those stupid kids who bully your family and you just want to punch them in the face. Sorry. Getting off topic. Best to least favorite lords. Episode Title for Above Reference: "Lyn's Quest to be the Best" Part 51 Lets Play FE 7
  5. After reading the supports of Noah and Jerrot/Zealott in Binding Blade, I've thought of something. Video game movies or adaptations of them seem to fail quite a lot. Mostly because experiences of the player cannot be re-created in story format. However, if you were to take some lore, Back story, and themes from a game and mold a New, fresh story out of it, It could allow for a set of characters that are not even in the main game (or are) but is limited to a specific amount. Use the Lore found in the world of the game; not the story in the game. Long story short: My Idea is creating a movie or show that focuses on the struggle of the Country of Ilia, and the fact that mercenaries are necessary to have its people survive. (Based on the continent of Elibe, 100 or so years after the events of Binding Blade) Or perhaps, finding a way to change the nature of Ilia's harsh climate, like Trek and Noah could not. I think focusing on the attributes of one country and making that into it's own story (probably after the events of FE 6) is one of the only ways I can think of a profitable and flexible story that will stay close to the lore of Fire Emblem. Sure, this could be doable with another country, from another game, but Ilia's condition is the most interesting, because it shows the dedication and rough conditions that most countries today don't have to deal with. Selling weapons to turn a profit? Sure, but not mercenaries to risk their lives so they can send Money and letters to their families or friends. If anyone thinks my logic/Idea is stupid, you are probably right. But Trek already dreamed he was a horse, so it can't be worse than that.
  6. Huh. I always remembered it as Zephiel defeating hector. I guess it's because Zephiel shows up and is an important figure of the chapter, thus changing the way I remember it. Psychology, everyone. Anyway, Hector's death, while still sad, is quite important. It tells the player what kind of force Roy and his companions are up against, (Some General, as well as an army, could beat hector - who is portrayed as very powerful) and it marks the turning point of Roy's overall role in the story. Not just a helping boy, but he takes the task of leading an army under his belt with such a devastating force baring his path. (see what I did there?)
  7. From Each game, It's Cecilia for Binding Blade, Sain for Blazing Sword, and Marisa for Sacred stones. Overall... Sain. Honorable mentions to Raigh/rey/Rahy (Lugh's brother.), Garret (He's my 2nd favorite pre-promote in the game), Bartre, Rebecca, Renault, Serra, Cormag, Moulder, Duessel, and Forde. Can you tell it was tough for me to choose? Sain was chosen because he's a good unit, his character is really funny, and even though he's a womanizer, you can tell he is mostly sincere. I wonder what Lyn would think about him marrying Rebecca.
  8. 3 words: Bartre's Awesome Mustache. (Visit the Right most village in chapter 9) Another thing I'd like to say about FE 6 is that the gaiden chapters all have a gimmic to them. That doesn't make them good, but it makes the maps have... flavor. They are boring and repetitive at times, but the way that the color and design of the visuals of each gaiden chapter wonderfully corresponds to the legendary weapon, so it feels you are in an enchanting location. The world of FE 6 has something to be admired, and for me, it's the simple art of color-coded map design. Same with a ton of the regular chapters as well. They are much more colorful than the other two GBA games, in my opinion. Perhaps it's a fresh, nastolgic feeling, but I think FE 6's Maps are all well designed in one way or another. Gameplay sucks? Story time. No? The color of the map matches the objective. Not that either, huh? How about the atmosphere? There is always something pleasing in almost every map if you look for it. And FE's 7 and 8 fail to give that experience to me.
  9. Guys, guys, guys... and gals. Battle Before Dawn, Cog of destiny, (I hate night of farewells with a passion) Arcadia (I like Arcadia despite the restarts), The random tent gag chapter (20X Sacae), Battle in bulgar, and Even the phantom ship are all Great choices for the worst of the worst. But I CANNOT STAND FOR THE LIFE OF ME Chapter 18, from Sacred Stones. The one with the stone bastards, and eggs. I tried soloing that map with seth. Can't do it on hard mode. Not Just Seth Solo's. EVERY SINGLE TIME I go into that chapter, even with multiple physics and restore staves, someone gets RNG screwed and Stoned, then dies to the ultimate bullshit. The only way to clear that map without someone dying is to deploy every mounted unit you have, and give them good weapons, and rush. I HATE that map.
  10. NO. Big, Fat, Relentless NO. The games are fine as they are, aside from late promotion in FE 6 and Support grind in FE 7. The Avatar with actual dialogue would ruin the narrative of FE's 7 and 6. That's it. I'm done, sorry if I sounded harsh, but I felt I needed to say something.
  11. Hmm... do I like The storytelling? Well, considering that the way the stories are told, and How I'm not confused at all near the end of the game, I'd say... Hell Yes. I've had to re-play the first generation of Fire Emblem 4 Seven times Just to understand what was going on, Even After seeing a Let's Play of the game! If a game can explain its own story at a comprehensive pace, AND build the world around it, I don't care if it's simple, complex, or has 200 cliches written in the plot. So, yes. I do.
  12. FE 4's soundtrack is Amazing. In fact, All the FE games have good music (save for FE 1 and 14 birthright IMO). My favorites are: FE 2's Chapter 4 overland map theme Victory 2 from Geneology The SICK Verdane theme from Geneology FE 5's Boss theme. And the recruitment theme as well. FE 6's theme around the Western iles, the enemy phase, and definitely Wyvern Genereal theme. FE 7 Rise to the challenge, Together we ride, and Nergal's boss fight theme. FE 8 - Everything except for the Healing music. FE 9 - Haven't played, but I like Power hungry fool FE 10 - a ton, including the based Wheeling Corby FE 11 - Battle themes, the Arena fight theme, Clash of two virtues, and definately "Trouble"! FE 12 - Dark emperor hardin, Expedition, Tearing shadows, The ally attack theme, and Holy moly, OFF TO WAR IS MY FAVORITE FE 13 - Sound track is dead to me except for Don't speak her name, ID memories, and ID purpose. rest is forgettable. FE 14 - Birthright sucked. Conquest's battle prep theme was cool. Lost in thoughts all olaone is fantastic, but nothing else sticks out to me. (Honorable mention to a game not FE; "In Search of the Holy Sword")
  13. Like I heard MageKnight 404 say, I think that if fatigue returns, it should be a penalty to a unit's stats, rather than forcing them to sit out. It defeats the "Fatigue" part of it, but it nudges you to change characters, rather than forcing. Maybe the stat reduction stays until they are not deployed? Does this seam like a bad Idea? Because while I liked the fatugue as a concept, the way it was brought to being was kinda anoying. Like how I can't bring asvel to a chapter full of fliers just because he faught in 30 battles or more last map/healed with a physic staff.
  14. Hmmm... I find that a lot of the general wanted pairings umong fans are either really well thought out, or kinda fall off because of radiant dawn's lack of expanding on newer characters. I have two suggestions: 1. Shinon X Rolf - I think their conversation about Rolf being thankful and shinon talking about rolf surpassing his skills (resulting in that one overpowered bow) really had some merit into shinon's character and should have been expanded on. Maybe an ending where he actually does point at rolf and says, "That's the best student I ever had." 2. Edward X Lyre - Their personalities are polar opposites, and it would be funny to see how they react to each other's likeness. Also, My Fan-fiction will be forever lost in a file of an old computer.
  15. Really? I have the original FE 12 on my 2ds in Japanese, and It works just fine. EDIT: Confused 2 ds with DS Lite. Sorry. It's the original DS Lite (American).
  16. Can I talk about more than one? Say... 4 or 5? Because It's difficult for me to choose just one. EDIT: Nevermind. Seen some other posts, I'll give a few answers. 1 - The first chapter. Ever. Like, FE 1 style. Now, why do I say that this is the best chapter for me? It isn't. I personally think it's the best "first" chapter in FE history. It explains the basics in swift jabs and house visits. It tells you to visit villages without telling you - it SHOWS you. You are forced to make simple, yet hasty decisions about what to do with the advancing enemy, coming from multiple sides. (one side, but multiple angles) Lastly, it gives you a boss fight that isn't too challenging or unique. It gives you the basic situation, and if you learn all there is to learn from this one chapter, you won't need to look for a strategy guide or have a real head scratching moment for most of the game. You will apply what you learned. 2 - Conquest chapter 10. Everyone has already said everything there is to say. It is a brilliantly designed defense chapter, and probably the only thing to beat it or is on par is Chapter 14 from FE 5. (Still Love blood contract) 3 - Chapter 6, from FE 5 (Thracia 776). This is another escape misson, yet, there are a few different ways to go about it. Your actions from earlier effect the loot you get, and if you want the chapter to go by easily, you can have Karen ferry your team to safety. It's optional difficulty with high risk/reward. And I'd love to see more chapters like it in FE. Yes, FE 9's Prison break chapter was like this too, but I think that the stealth works more in an outdoor environment IMO. 4 - Lastly, there's Chapter 10 (Ephraim route) from Sacred stones. It's the "Reinforcement rush" chapter. Basically, much like the chapters of 5 in FE 1/3/11, Late Chapter 3 of FE4, and FE 5's chapter 8. You have two factions: You and the guys you are trying to rescue/back up. The game's enemies are put in the way to stop you from advancing. You need to rush to save the guy you want to save (plus get awesome rewards) while fending off your own set of enemy walls. The reason I put Sacred stones's version of the "Reinforcement Rush" is because the bunch of sacred stones is super easy and has "meh" map design. It deserves some credit where it's due. The others I mentioned are probably better chapters, because you control the guys you are trying to rescue, like half a defense map. I thought SS needed some acknowledgement, is all.
  17. I wholeheartedly agree with what you are saying here. I've played shadow dragon over 70 flippin' times, and I can't tell you how much time in general I've spent re-classing just for the sole purpose of trying something new. Now, shadow dragon isn't about optimal pairings, or pairing at all, but It fits your statement well, I think. See, if you worry about who's the best in SD or New mystery, you deprive youself of experiencing fun with different characters. Furthermore, you don't see how much they change when reclassed to some wacky class! I've also had fun with Awakening when I paired Henry with Cherche. Optimal pairing? Not really. Fun? Yeah. And there are many more experiences that come to mind. (Like Pairing Fury with Arden in FE 4)
  18. Noah. He's not the best unit, but his character makes me think of the kind of guy who's grateful for what 's there. Dorathy is probably my favorite in terms of character, but Igrene... her stats are good and she just... looks so well designed. Sue, if I had to choose. I guess wendy. Although Bors has turned out fantastic for me every time I used him. Reigh. Definately. Like I said on the GBA Shaman/Druid poll, He is my favorite Dark magic/eldermagic user in the series. His character is diverse with a single goal - "to help using hell". Game play wise, he's much more useful than staff bot 2.0 and Ms. Paper bag. Lugh is the best of the three, but I still like lilina the best. Once she becomes a sage that can use physics, it's like , "What's an elixer?" Cecilia. Her aircalibur and staff use makes me happy every time I use her. Plus, I almost always marry her to roy when I get the chance. Chad is the best. Cath is too... pragmatic for my taste. Fir. Karel is a nice edition, but fir is just... well, for non-hard mode playthroughs, mostly. I like all of them to be honest. Mr. 100+ crit is great, too. You're making me choose... between the best Warrior and best berserker. No. Bartre and Gonzales are both a tie and the favorites of my team. I almost Always have one of the two on my team. Wade is cool, though. Great middle game fodder. Ogier. Love his supports. Never used Deke, and Echidna mostly hit the bench. Milady. Zeiss is fine, but I only used him once or twice. And durring a Zeppelin Run. (Don't concern yourself with what that is) Thite, I suppose. Shanna does make for great early game utility if you can get her high-leveled enough. Never really use either. But Lalum, I suppose. Merlinus is cool, as a one time concept. He works best in FE 7, but I've really been a fan of the convoy on the lord thing. Fae is you either use her in the endgame, or you bench her completely. Never use her when you first get her. Roy. I like him. Yes, he promotes late, but I don't think that matters when you have good enough stats to survive on your own. Just make sure he has enough speed and luck, and you're good. He makes a good sword user, and with the right stats, he can kill the final boss with an overpowered blade in one round of combat.
  19. I'm sorry to say suggest this, but, it's basically another "Power of friendship" thing? That ended a curse, of all things? How did the curse even come to be, anyway? (Coming from a guy who's played shadow dragon over 70 times) I'm just a little confused over it is all.
  20. I apologize for the late reply/notice. Well, I've always heard people say how bland she was. And all she cared about was fighting. And, as I've found, She's not a TERRIBLE unit, as the amount of training to get her up to par with everyone is moderate compared to others in the game. (Looking at you, Ewan)
  21. Want... so... badly.... need to save... for college... instead...
  22. Base class: Archer. Why? Well, my childhood speaks to me. And says not to shoot my eye out. Plus I like archers. Promoted: Swordmaster. Because who wouldn't want to kill everything with one swift sword stroke? Also, I used to watch a lot of samurai jack as a kid. Just the thought of a custom Jack Crit... Why are there no third tiers? Everyone knows that Whispers and Barons are the best.
  23. Cool. Just... don't use the pun, "Caladbuldge".
  24. Name - Trek comes close to my name, but none match it. Unless locations count. FE 3 has a chapter after my name, though! Wyverns of Dale... nice ring to it, too Birthday - Owain (shudders) [does the B-Day really matter? I'd like to keep it disclosed] Looks/Appearance - ...Noah. ... 'Cept the purple hair Personality: Cross between Marisa and Forde from Sacred stones, and you have me in a nutshell! (There's no fire emblem character who loves both poetry and creativity, 'cept for Azama's daughter. Fates. I'm a guy. Why U do Dis?)
