  1. My only concern now is how the dialogue will be translated, as some give some details on the characters, which may or may not be lost in translation, and I only saw one line of dialogue in the video for the replacement mechanic, so I'm also questioning whether all the lines will be translated into English.
  2. I thought SlimeGaron was using the fact that Nohr was lacking food as an excuse to hide behind for their invasion of the bountiful land of Hoshido. So it could be that the characters are also helping the invasion to help their country. Though SlimeGaron is blatantly stupidly evil to the point it's hard to believe he be able to control the masses even with propaganda. So I find it more likely that the writers were either complete morons, or it's cultural posturing, which I noticed in small doses in Japanese media before. (Ex. Backstory of Heavy Object, Japan's the nation who creates the titular superweapon, Azure Striker Gunvolt: Fleeting Memories, talks about how psychics destroyed the world except for a "island nation in Asia", Gate, an anime based off a story written by right-wing nationalist, ) Though the question is whether this trend is all in my head, or if Japan is getting a swelled head.(Probably the former) But yeah, it's really suspicious how the story centered on a kingdom based off a real-life foreign nation was the one with the most problems.
  3. And it got muted. Better have the mods close this unless we can get another link.
  4. Fair enough on Pieri, though was their specific age ever mentioned? Like how old was Pieri when it happened? Because that could explain the differences between her and Oboro. Plus the emotional support one gets after enduring a trauma could effect how one is affected by it. Nohr seems to be a pretty messed up place, making it not the ideal place to recover from that kind of trauma, plus she apparently developed a distrust of servants after that, so she probably didn't have many people to rely on. Hoshido, however is a suetopia, so Oboro turning out fine doesn't surprise me. Belka was abandoned in the slums and picked up by an assassin to be his apprentice, so that probably screwed her up, and the same with Zero, only with thieves. Both were abandoned at a young age, and were raised by people who only saw them as tools. So I argue that the idea of "your past doesn't give you an excuse for bad behavior in the present" doesn't quite work for these characters, since they lived in an extremely unhealthy environment that wasn't fit for kids, and as a result grew up with an unhealthy mindset well into their adulthood, where by then their minds and brains had finished developing, and thus are unlikely to change without emotional support from others. Oboro, on the other hand probably grew up in a far more stable environment, making it easier to recover. Plus the recovery process for trauma can take quite a while, and one does not simply change over night, it is a gradual process. So in short, you really can't compare Oboro to Pieri, Zero, and Belka, as they grew up in vastly different circumstances. I guess my point is that these characters should be pitied more than feared, and that upbringing while not the sole factor in personality, it is a very major factor, and that people like them should be given a chance to try and improve themselves before bring written off as psychos. Plus they aren't utterly psychotic. Belka offers up her life as an apology for her foster parent killing Oboro's parents and actually acknowledges that she's slowly changing in her supports with Jakob. Here's the quote, "I'm doing the same thing I've always done. Take requests and kill someone. Take orders, and kill my enemies... it's all the same, just as I've always done. But when I'm here, I feel like one day I won't be able to do that anymore. I won't be able to stay as the self I've been all this time anymore." Zero actually tries to get his daughter to stop being a thief in fear of her going through what he went, and actually shows some kindness to Mozume by pulling strings to find her hometown's treasure for her. Don't have anything for Pieri though. That said, I'll admit that I'm stretching a bit, but we really don't get much in terms of exact details on their backstories, so some of it is up to interpretation, plus I'll admit I'm a bit biased since characters like these are entertaining to me, since they come off more emotionally engaging. P.S. This was to both Neko and Rapier, but I was in the middle of writing this when Rapier posted their latest comment, but it didn't show up for me, though the the guy who quoted you did. SF probably could use a bit of rewriting for it's code. But to address you comparison, Asura was older when he was thrust into that life, and had more maturity to deal with it than Zero had when he became a thief. P.S.S Now That I actually took some time to look, your comment did show up but only part of it did. Did you edited it? If not, something buggy is going on.
  5. Pieri is like that due to witnessing a servant murder her mother at a young age, Charlotte has already been defended by others here, Zero is like that due to his rough childhood, and the same for Beruka. It's pretty much a prevalent theme in Nohr that your allies are decent people yet have messed up lives that cover up that fact. They're arguably some of the most realistic characters in Fates, compared to the ones in Hoshido, who I find quite bland and boring.
  6. How are we off topic? I was talking about the original concept for skinship, in a thread about skinship.
  7. Part of me wonders if that why P4 was so lighthearted. They couldn't stick any serious stuff like character development into the main story, so they relied on gags more often instead. Considering some of the "gags" (Amagi inn incident....), I wonder if P3's approach wasn't better. Though P3P showed that they could do both, so it's more of them getting the hang of it over time. Also, from a certain POV, the less serious stuff could fit with P3's theme of enjoying what time you have. I mean, would you rather have fun with what remains of your life, or spend all of it working or something. Plus, the characters are teens, doesn't surprise me they had have some trouble taking stuff seriously, might even be escapism for them. Though I think some of it, like the hotsprings, could be taken out.
  8. Pfft, GTA has thought me that ESRB ratings do jack squat from preventing kids from playing age inappropriate games. Plus, that's nothing compared to other stuff in the series. In Genealogy, the MC is burned alive after being NTR'ed by the villain, and said villain is the half brother of the MC's wife. When I discovered that I was far more disturbed by it than skinship. So yeah, M-rated stuff is nothing new to the series really. Don't let Camilla hear you say that. Or Niles.
  9. The only explanation I can think of is that one, it's less off putting than working with a ugly one, and two, if you were building a human robot, would you build an ugly one or a beautiful one? Though are annoyed about them being hot, or about them being girls? Because I can see were you're coming from with the latter. Also, I found an interesting perspective on the differences between how P3 and P4 did their SL. Some had the same problems you had with P3's, with you being unable to interact with them, while others disliked P4's approach, claiming the any character development was locked to the SL, as they could be done whenever, forcing them to act the same all the way through with the main story. A passage from Tvtropes explains this better than I do, "Social Links with party members wound up being surprisingly divisive. On one hand, the majority of players appreciate the fact they can choose to spend more time with their favorite characters and (in theory) get more Character Development. On the other hand, detractors claim that it results in characters' development being at best stuck to the Social Link and at worst superficial and flat, as any development has to be able to fit in at any point in the game's story, leading to Status Quo Is God. There is very little middle ground. " I don't agree or disagree with any views expressed in the passage, but I thought this would be a point of debate that would contribute to the thread.
  10. Here's a passage from TvTropes on it :" The skinship minigame was originally much more extreme, with the cursor being a hand and the ability to touch the character anywhere on their body, though it would have been limited to whoever the Avatar married. It was to the point that even some of the developers considered it disgusting, and Nintendo ultimately agreed with them and asked to tone it down." Honestly I like the original version more. Being very intimate with your spouse is a lot less creepy than being intimate with everybody in the army, and far more sensical. It baffles me why Team B is less liked than Team A, as it seems it was Team's A fault that FE-Amie was reworked so you could do it with everyone, instead of just your spouse. That said, I'm not in favor of skinship being in the series, but rather, if it had to be in the series, I prefer Team B's original concept of it over the finalized version where Kamui is basically a serial molester.
  11. If the card game actually did manage to get in, I would prefer something along the lines of Cardfight Vanguard where the fighters imagine themselves as the creatures. And on that note, I can't stop picturing Azura as a Bermuda Triangle player, Ryouma as as Narukami player, Xander using Shadow paladins... I need to write a fanfic based off of this.
  12. I'm calling her Calamari from now on, because it's less stupid, and I can see Selena giving birth to her, realizing she basically just gave birth to her own mother, and go "Fuck this" and name her that out of shock and petty spite. That or her just misprounicng it like that on purpose. Nothing's too petty for a tsundere.
  13. Yeah, that's I was thinking too. So on top of it being weird as hell, it also sounds like a guys' name instead of a girl. Ugh, if there was a list of worst localizations of all time, this game would at least earn a Top 100 spot.
  14. I'm not even sure how her name is pronounced. Cale-dori? Cali-dori?
  15. Well, like TheDanMan said, it's probably just mindless PR fluff, so I wouldn't pay much attention. These emails are probably just meant to act as sedatives for the fans, and not answer anything.
  16. Google says yes, though it's unknown if one works at Nintendo. https://www.google.com/search?q=richard+woolslayer&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8
  17. I would call it fake if only because of that last name, but that's actually a real name judging from all the richards woolslayer I found on google. Still, might just be them covering their butts and not anything substantial.
  18. Huh, I only knew of the DLC schedule being put on the site, and I got that from Silconera. But this implies that skinship is gone, with the only other alternatives being they're acting stupid for some reason and not saying anything, or they're trying to keep it a secret out of fear of backlash. I looked up how much a VA gets paid for doing a game on google, found an article on Polygon http://www.polygon.com/features/2013/4/2/4104160/why-arent-video-game-actors-treated-like-stars , and it said they're paid like $200 an hour, but some of you guys said the site wasn't much better than Kotaku, plus the article is from 3 years ago, so I'm a bit dubious, both on the article's credibility and the idea Nintendo would cut skinship out to save what would be, like $5000 dollars? I don't remember how many voice actors the game has, or how much dialogue the skinship got.
  19. How much does it actually cost to record lines? Just curious. Also, remember that we haven't got any word from Nintendo on this yet, which is weird considering they updated the website today. Granted, it was just a DLC schedule, but surely these rumors are more important to address than optional content that isn't even on the cart for the game.
  20. I'm pretty sure someone else in the thread mentioned something about how a bunch of Western European countries allowed same-sex marriage, and most of the UK, except for Northern Ireland, allows same sex marriage, according to wikipedia, so I assume that the homosexual supports will be left alone. Coincidentally, conversion therapy is legal in the UK, though it's highly debated over there. Bit of a weird coincidence when Soleil's supports where changed due to people whining over a gay conversion that wasn't actually in the supports.
  21. Considering how they already mentioned changes to Soleil's supports, yet have said nothing on the incest, pretty much implies that it's still in the game. Of course we still don't have any news on what's actually happening with skinship from Nintendo yet, so maybe it's still in. According to Wikipedia, Canada has it's own branch. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nintendo_divisions#Nintendo_of_America_.28NOA.29 Don't know about Mexico and some Caribbean islands are territories of the U.S, so those probably fall under NoA's jurisdiction, and by comparison NoE has 8 branches, covering at least 10 different countries, while NoA covers 2.(That we know of) But I got all this from Wikipedia, so some details might be missing or wrong.
  22. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/BrotherSisterIncest/FireEmblem Apparently there was enough incest in the series for it to warrant its own page on TvTropes. Though I find it interesting how Fates and Awakening are responsible for 2/3rds of the page. I am also surprised at how Sacred Stones weren't even mentioned on the page, and that of all the controversial things in Fates, like the incest for example, skinship was the one removed. Which I suppose just adds more credence to the idea of Kotaku being full of crap.
  23. For those of you who are clamoring for Cipher to be the replacement for skinship, provided kotaku isn't full of shit for once, wasn't it a card game much like Yugioh and Cardfight Vanguard? As in one where it was played with physical cards that you bought with real money? I find it highly unlikely that it would work as a mini-game then, unless Nintendo made it DLC that you paid for, which would probably just infuriate people on the basis that it's basically an in-app purchase. Honestly I agree with those who think it just wasn't included in the demo. Frankly I figure if there is any changes, they're just making the dialogue less lewd. Though if it was possible for anything to replace skinship, I would ask for some sort of dating sim-esque minigame, where you would have to select a line of dialogue from 3 or 4 choices, and the more correct choices you make, the more support points you get. It would be a decent compromise for those who want the dialogue exclusive to it and those who find the face touching to be weird.Plus considering the waifu wars, I find it weird that no one has made a web game like this yet. Well, like you said, about 50% of the people here believed the article, so I say we're only 49.999% away from meeting the necessary quota you described.
  24. Ryouma: Corrin, quick! Give a Senzu to heal Mother. Corrin: What, do you think I'm just giving these away? 'Cause I'm not. Ryouma: *Stares in disbelief* Corrin: Um, I think I'll go join Nohr now. Ryouma:*Continues to stare* Corrin:Uh, yeah, bye.
