  1. I very rarely have issues with the game's RNG. I mean yeah, sometimes you'll get those moments that make you call bullshit, but it's bound to happen in anything. Maybe I'm just lucky. I hate ninjas. I have since the game came out in Japan, and nothing's changed. They are, in my opinion, THE most annoying class in the game. First off, there can't ever just be one of them, they always have to come in swarms or gang up on you with other units, the pricks. Second, unless you can one-shot them, they're gonna debuff you, and there's no way to avoid it unless you're lucky enough to have a full meter from Guard Stance because it's not like they ever miss. It doesn't matter if you're ranged or melee, they WILL get you. One debuff later, and your tankiest unit is getting chip-damaged to death by a swarm of ninjas with snake venom. They're so annoying... whenever I see an enemy ninja, I just don't even want to go near them. The other thing that aggravates me would be units with abilities that they obviously have no business having. I can appreciate that they're trying to give me an interesting challenge, but when I see Kagero with grisly wound, it's like you're not even the correct species for that, get out of here.
  2. Voices I do NOT like are: Effie (I just don't like how her character was changed) Felicia (why does she sound like she's laughing at the end of everything she says?) Hinoka (whoever said "Buttercup with lung cancer" is right on the mark...) Kagero (delivery sounds really flat and generic, and her voice is too high-pitched) Nyx (spirited and immature doesn't feel like Nyx...) Orochi (her delivery is so. Boring) Peri (sounds like a smoker with a sinus infection) Setsuna (ermmm, uhhh, eegghh... It's Felicia 2.0, basically. They're the same actor, I can hear it) Reina (sounds too young, in my opinion. Like, Camilla sounds older than she does) Voices I really like are: Azama (pleasantly surprised, love his second line about you being totally wrong about everything) Benny (he sounds super adorable!!) Scarlet (she sounds more badass and I like it) Elise ("Even if I have to beat them up!" She's so cute!) Arthur ("The only person I am closer to in the whole world is... lady justice-- but that relationship is somewhat one-sided." Oh my god I love you Arthur...) Hisame (voice is great, though some of the lines, just what da fuq...) Izana ("It's been lovely as always... TOODLES!!" I am dying...) Percy (it's Pit! Oh my gosh it's Pit! He's so cuuuute!) Mozu (she sounds so precious) Kaden (one of the best voices, hands down) Ryoma ("Kiss me, you fool." Hellooooo, Ryoma) Saizo ("You alone may know my one weakness... I'm incredibly ticklish." Bahahaha!!) Shiro (KAIJI TANG, I KNEW IT!!!! Ahem... his voice is yummy great) Silas (Dark Pit!!) Soleil (she is suddenly very, very cute) Sophie (same as Soleil) Takumi (good delivery, good voice also I knew he would have a hair fetish) The rest I either like decently enough, or I'm indifferent to. I think it's a pretty good dub as a whole. Some lines are rather questionable, but others are just hysterical.
  3. Apparently, they saw it as very "secretive" information. I can only assume that they were trying to keep as much information about the game, its characters, and localization changes from getting out as possible, though I don't see why they would need to resort to such extremes to do so. It's not like the actors aren't already under a NDA, anyway, and it's more harmful to the game's quality, if anything. edit: ninja'd
  4. From what I've heard, how companies handle video game voice acting varies quite considerably. I've heard that sometimes, the voice actor will have a picture of their character in the booth, be allowed to listen to the Japanese voice clips (if they exist), and are, you know, actually told who their character is, from name to personality. I feel like having none of those things and only giving the actor vague information, not to mention having no context for their lines, is detrimental to the quality of the final product. I would hope that the voice directors at the very least are knowledgeable about the characters their actors are trying to portray, and thus can help tune their delivery so it fits, but geez... makes me feel sorry for all the voice actors who are being ragged on for being "bad" when it probably wasn't even their fault. They were likely trying their best stumbling around in the dark, and everyone's judging them for it. Rena seems like such a sweet lady. She really doesn't deserve such rude comments (turned up to 11 considering this is the internet). I think she did great.
  5. I'm quite glad that Kisaragi's name is the same, I like that name a lot for him. Mitama is fine either way. I'm not at all surprised that they changed Shinonome's name, but to Shiro? Wasn't what I was expecting, but I like it! I'm really surprised, though, that after all the butchering of other Japanese names they've done, they didn't change Hisame. If any name is going to result in a whole heap of mispronunciations, it's that one.
  6. I'm actually glad that there's a lot of new voices in the cast, well known or not. Why not give them a chance? It's nice getting voice actors that we already know are good, but I think it's great to mix it up because we hear a lot of the same voices everywhere. The fact that they may be using aliases makes things interesting, though. I mean everyone was so sure that Antony Del Rio is Silas, and now it's kind of a mystery, though I still think it's him. Interesting... I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up voicing someone like Shinonome. There are several characters left whom we haven't heard a peep out of, though, so who knows.
  7. At first, I really didn't like the sound of Lutz being renamed Percy, but then I got the reference and FINALLY realized why they renamed Harold to Arthur. I'm glad there was actually some sense behind that.
  8. I'll definitely be using the option to start at the decision point when I can, mostly because I find chapters 4 and 5 pretty static and boring (stupid Ryouma, stop stealing my kills). One thing to note, though, is that starting from the decision point retains the level-ups, difficulty, and mode that you had at the time of the decision point on your last playthrough. If you want to decrease the difficulty or mode, you can always do that after chapter 6, but if you want to up the difficulty or choose a harder mode, you have to start from the beginning. Like if your last playthrough was on Normal/Casual, you can't suddenly start from the decision point on Hard/Classic. So I know I'll be restarting at some point.
  9. I've played the Japanese version, so... yeah. Totally spoiled. That's okay, though. Part of the fun of playing the English version is seeing the differences in the writing and voices.
  10. Nothing really new here, but thanks for the link. The break option is for destroying objects, so characters could have broken the bridges, stairs, and buildings. Also Camilla's voice... the more I hear it, the more I'm not feeling it, sadly, but oh well.
  11. Oh it is funny. Especially when he crits with it. And that's bound to happen with Harold-- er, Arthur. I hated Lunatic in Awakening. Your units are like helpless infants compared to the enemy right from the beginning and you have to rely too much on Frederick carrying and Lon'qu dodging/critting while you just get rushed by the entire enemy army, and then you end up with only a small group of units that are actually useful while the rest are pair-up fodder. Haven't played much of Lunatic on Fates, but I'm already liking it much better since the difficulty seems to stem more from predicting enemy movements, positioning yourself accordingly, and planning around enemy abilities rather than just hoping that two or three units can tank an onslaught. Oh, and units you get are actually useful. I agree with Raybrand in that it seems much fairer.
  12. I agree with just about every point you made! You forgot to bring up the incredible soundtrack, though. ;) I really want to emphasize how much I like weapon durability being gone in this installment. Late game in Awakening, there was really no reason to carry around anything but the best of the best weapons, and durability turned into not much more than a nuisance because you could easily just go buy more of most everything. Plus I've got this nagging What if I need it later? feeling when it comes to items with limited uses in just about every game I play, so it made me not want to use the godlike weapons ever. I love how in Fates, you're encouraged to carry around many different kinds of the same weapon type to fit all sorts of situations. I found that giving Harold a frying pan as a back up weapon, for instance, was quite useful thanks to its higher accuracy compared to a lot of other axes and +10 avoid. I think removing durability allowed weapons to be more complicated and have more immediate consequences as a result. It makes you think even more about what you want to end your turn equipped with, and I really like that.
  13. Onmyoji is pronounced similarly to a combination of the English words: own-me-oh-gee. I think it's hilarious how many Japanese names for classes and characters they've changed or shortened, but they didn't touch this one.
  14. Haha, most every one of these preview videos we've gotten recently are slaughter-fests, you'll either think it's hilarious or you'll cringe at every decision. It's nice to get the English gameplay and information, at least. Lmao, my typos tho, I just can't English today.
  15. I noticed that, too. Literally every name that's more than three syllables long has been shortened. Did they think semi-long Japanese names were too complicated for us or something? Kisaragi is super easy to say, I'm going to roll my eyes when if it's inevitably changed.
  16. I actually think the name "Kana" is way too close to the name "Hana." I wonder if they even thought about that. I'm willing to bet that "Shinonome" is going to be shortened to "Shino." No idea what they're going to do with Hisame or Kisaragi.
  17. That's like saying Ripley shouldn't have said "Get away from her, you bitch!" to the Alien Queen in the movie Aliens. Personally, I like Corrin's reaction. I think it fits for an angry parent against humanoids who are trying to kill their child.
  18. Eh, I swear at video game characters all the time even though they can't hear me, so I'm okay with it.
  19. I really don't understand how she could say Jakob sucks, especially when she's playing as the female Avatar, so she starts with him. My Jakob got garbage level ups (like, 2 points) almost constantly in a lot of my files, but he was still very valuable in every route on any difficulty, especially early on. Having a versatile attacker and healer that can make good use out of both physical and magic weapons that can lower stats is a godsend, especially on higher difficulties and in Conquest where you're short on healers for a long time. All she seems to have been playing is Normal difficulty on Casual or Phoenix mode, though, so no wonder she doesn't appreciate him considering the fact that she doesn't have to worry about actually protecting her units and putting a lot of thought into her moves.
  20. I've noticed watching these streams that the way they pronounce some of these Japanese names bothers me, lol. You don't stress syllables with Japanese words. I cringe whenever I hear the male Avatar say "sa-KU-ra", or in this video, when the female Avatar says "For Hoshido!" like "ho-SHI-do" with emphasis on the "shi." Just... have to tell myself that it's not really their fault... Oh my god, the woman playing the game pronounced "Hana" like "Hannah." They don't know any better, they don't know any better, they don't know any better...
  21. Glad to see some other people feel this way. I realize that the explanation for the kids being in this game is really dumb and filled with plot holes and questionable decisions and all, but I love tinkering around with pairings, seeing how the kid's stats turn out, and playing around with their efficiency as different units. It adds a huge chunk of more game time for me and encourages multiple playthroughs, so as much as the explanation for their existence feels like an excuse, I like that the kids are still here. They're completely optional, anyway, so it's not like you have to bother with them. I'm still teetering on the fence about whether Felicia's voice is cringe-worthy or adorable. Some of her dialogue has terribly awkward delivery, like her "I love you" is just... uhh... but at the same time, I feel like that awkwardness is a part of her character, and some of her lines are pretty funny.
  22. "Moral of the story is: don't tackle things underleveled." More like don't position your units like a buffoon, this IS really painful to to watch, lol. Scarlet and Hinoka both get murdered by archers, Saizou and Sophie get sent to die, and Takumi gets boxed in all alone immediately. Holy how, the cringing is real, lol. Oh well, the information is appreciated.
  23. During the stream. She used Kinu briefly while getting Sophie. Oh, and regards to the voice... I can just tell, lol.
  24. Kinu's name is "Selkie"? How very peculiar... Also, Sophie is voiced by Stephanie Sheh, same as Beruka.
  25. I agree with this. People all over the internet have been crying "censorship" and disliking videos of Fates and claiming that the localization is a "butchered" version of the game when in reality, very, very little has been changed or removed. I mean thinking about it, the only things that have been confirmed to be changed would be Soleil's supports (and let's be honest, that was for good reason) and the ability to rub everyone's faces, which really got old fast. That's about it, isn't it? I almost feel bad for Nintendo due to all the heat they've been getting over all this when it's really not that bad, but they certainly should have been more open with the fanbase as opposed to being all tight-lipped about the whole thing. They left people to stew in their own anxieties and assume the worst.
