Gig continues his Gigness
Great, it's time to look for cultists. Instead, we find the terrors of the sands.....
Fuck you too, Gig.
They appear to be physical attackers, judging from the stats.
We suffer -10% stat penalties on the desert. Let's move to better land and wait for them. They're invisible anyways.
The shadow has 3 attacks:
Front: Frontal charge punch
Mid: Teleport and punch from behind
Rear: Laser
I seem to have a good matchup against these shadows. Latula doesn't.
They do good damage, but we're slowly winning.
Merrigold doesn't have a damage advantage on them either.
A lucky hit takes out Latula, and her squad disbands for the time being. Dammit.
-
Juno appears to know little about the human world. She's not snarky. I think.
Did Gig just reference the Tasmanian Devil?
NEVER GONNA GIVE MY BODY UP TO YOU
The Nereid is a melee fighter with high resistance and a bonus in water terrain. Otherwise, not much to talk about.
I don't have anywhere to place them....maybe with Kotaro?
Racism and stereotypes?
Gotta love Christophe. Gig shows more of his death god mentality.
-
The plot thickens so much.
Look at all these new rooms and yet I don't know what they do because I don't dare change Sami's room because I don't have a room lock!
Hooray we have nereids now
Looks like the Raide storyline will have to wait. We'll need to seek out the other 2 World Eaters....somewhere.
Yay, new warriors. Now I don't need to buy additional nereids, and the ones given to me can't be renamed anyways.
She's referring to Penn

Warning: Lengthy story segment
-
GET REKT. I BREAK YO AXE.
He looks so happy...
While their Whirwins make their way over, Sami and Merrigold get to work on the Bareknuckles and the special Phynxes.
I wonder if Ranged units deal more damage to flying units.
Yup. They do extra damage.
KABOOM.
Gestahl? was a pushover.
JUST YOU AND ME, DIO
Dio you pathetic shit, please go

Omigosh! I just found this thread, and I'm so happy someone else is playing this game! I love it; beaten over 5 times, but no one I know knows anything about it, even other Disgaea fans. Very good choice to play this game, hope you have been enjoying it as much as I did! I'll be keeping an eye on this Lets Play.
PS:
I haven't read through the whole thing yet to confirm if you know, but did you know that this game has relationship values between the main characters? Its important because the choices you make with who to spend time with will influence what ending you will get, and there are a lot! Just letting you know...Hello there! Thanks for reading. I do know of relationship values, hence why I keep choosing Danette's choices and why I use Holy Justice before Demon Sword.
I can't be a descendant of THE Lord Median....can I?
We go to the oceanside to witness the negotiations between the knights and the nereids. Keep in mind that we're trying to kill the world eaters, which the knights protect because they don't want that monstrosity awakening. Also do keep in mind that the king has the illegal Crimson Tear, and the knights serve the king.
And then this pleb appears.
-
Please welcome a new addition to the team. He is up for naming.
He will provide a much needed ranged attack for Sami's team, whose squad I conveniently named "Fodder", as footsloggers ought to be.
Here we are at the Nereid Palace. Now WHERE THE FUCK IS ENDORPH?
So....the Nereids need a man to reproduce.........that lucky kid! He gets to score a whole nation when he comes of age.
If I recall correctly, Penn's hair looks a bit like that knight Galahad's boss' hair back in mission 4.
By the way, I missed a scene where the Queen decides on borrowing Danette after Levin says how uncomfortable he was.
Looks like all of us suffer from amnesia of some sort.
-
What are these terrors of the seas? Luckily, the hero Kotaro joined me. He can be my test subject.
Their mid attack is a very powerful hyper beam.
From what I gathered earlier, their attacks and stats focus on int. Looks like it's time to buff RES
Merrigold gives 0 fucks and burns it.
Like Pyromages, these creatures can attack from afar using Riptide.
Their rear row attack is to suck the life out of you. Whatever damage dealt is gained in health.
Latula is summoned to deal with the beasts, as her damage matchups against them are good.
Kotaro bites it, and Riptide slaughters the 2 newest members of our army.
Some battles call for massive firepower.
The journey is long, and we need stamina.
THIS. IS. REVENGE.
Just one long path and nary an enemy in sight.
I was hoping there'd be more.
This is new.
VARUS.....VARUS GIB ME BACK MUH GYPSIES (and a bard)
Merrigold proceeds to pound them a new one.
3 in one squad? Christ, this calls for massive annihilation.
New things unlocked! So they're called Hyderonus/Hydrone
-
Done.
I'm debating on whether to create a pure support squad or to have supporters in an additional melee squad. Having supporters as non-leaders gives an edge to the attack group, but since the room is the Hermit Hole room the Bard is esentially useless because her Attack debuff effect comes after the enemy has attacked. Making a support unit a leader means overall combat performance is lowered against all the other classe but the squad can use support moves on other squads. Decisions, decisions.
I do some inspection levels to level up the new guys for a bit.
Bards have horrible damage matchups.
Even with their special abilities.
Gypsies fare a bit better with damage matchups when they are leaders....they seem to be able to counter melee squads and ME.
We continue our search for endorph....

I'm curious if I'm the only one who associates songs from the real world with Fire Emblem characters. That is, I imagine a certain song to be playing when said character speaks in-game, regardless of the soundtrack playing at the moment.
I imagine this song to be playing whenever Lyn's in a cutscene.

RIP Battlefront 3
MUH BATTLEFRONT 3
-
Long story segment back there!
Well, new room type.
Hooray for support units!
Gypsies whip people when placed in the front, buff accuracy and speed when placed in the middle, and buff int when placed in the rear. Bards smack people if placed in the front, lower enemy attack when placed in the middle, and boosts the attack of a single unit when placed in the rear.
-
Oh Gig.
Even the townsfolk know their guards suck
Great. We've finally moved on from beating up random bandits to discovering weapons of mass destruction.
-
Shauna's forces were no match. They threw themselves at us like the jackals they were, and we held the line.
After getting rid of the melee units, I summon Latula so she can take care of Shauna's mage guards. Their INT was buffed but their full stamina means they won't be using Ignus Zenos on me anytime soon.
Shauna is my bitch.
Wait what? She's still standing with her personal guard? Ridiculous! I fried her to a crisp!
Levin's sister....is a complete Southern belle in voiceacting.
-
But before we go after Shauna, I figure we should upgrade our army a bit.
Must test drive these units!
Latula's squad gets an upgrade. Now they'll be decent in a firefight.
It's also possible to recruit units at higher than level 1 at a higher cost, but about 1/3 of their pre-paid levels will not have stat growths.
Bought another cleric in preparation for room #4.
However, before we get into the thick of things, let's do Inspections.
Inspections is your way to grind and level up units by clearing randomly generated levels with randomly generated conditions. However, each level will have a "boss" squad that's pretty high leveled. Usually you either have to survive X number of rounds in the level OR kill the boss to move on. Clearing a level will upgrade the room's ability: Ex: Clearing levels in a Gladiatorium will upgrade the bonuses Death Charge provides. Clearing 20 levels I think unlocks another tile in the room so you can put more people in there.
Here's a random training montage.
I love the explosions.
NOTE: Inspections do NOT use up room decors, so you can stack up on the bonuses and keep grinding to your heart's desire. However, the enemies are generally much harder than story mission foes.
Note to self: Saboteurs die way too easily.
Clear levels, get money.
Get money, buy decor.
Equip decor, beat merchant.
Buy better decor.
Go back to Inspections.
Repeat cycle until new units' levels are on par with the veterans.
One thing I like about Soul Nomad is the ease with which a new level 1 unit can be trained. You can put the fellow in the middle/rear of your squad where he/she will mostly remain out of harms way. Any kills the squad makes will earn exp.
In other words I switched clerics and switched out Serpico.
ALRIGHT SHAUNA TIME TO DIE
RIP town guard
-
SCHWING
dat blood
Shauna? That gypsy-like chick? Looks like she's next.
-
Not satisfied with a thickened plot, it decides to congeal.
So this is Dio's ancestor.....perhaps. Oh Gig.
-
Debuffing Galahad, in case Merrigold gets killed by an unlucky critical hit so I can deliver the killing blow.
And I should've killed these soldiers long ago.
Latula dies, and our resident XCOM healer bites the dust also.
The winged girls hit hard, but they miss. Stupid axe users.
THIS BATTLE NEEDS TO END QUICKLY
Deja Vu? Damn, guess you can't take on the whole garrison of a city.
Huh, so that's what they're called!
Pit Boss and Clown Room seems great for tanking.
The plot thickens....
-
Dio survives Ignus Zenos. His counterattack does heavy damage, and if it weren't for an enemy swordsman that attacked later, Dio could've finished off Merrigold.
Standing on the pain rune hurts. DIE DIO. AND GESTAHL
Poor, poor Dio.
New rooms, and I suppose I can get my own plant artillery now!
After a certain amount of battles the Bad Vibes can be fought with and you can get a prize.
I also upgrade the merchants.
Oh hey, it's the guy who got fired.
Here we go. More fighting.
I speed past the soldiers and summon Latula. Probably not a good idea.
Hey what are these hooded-HOLY SHIT THEY CARRY NUKES
Those tech chicks will pose a threat to Merrigold. WHATEVER SUMMON HER ANYWAYS
Nuke chicks have very low defense.
Def up? No problem Pyremages use INT.
Latula buffs herself. I need more ranged units in the room since on her own she's doing very little counterattack damage. Will have to rectify soon.
Meanwhile Merrigold's level is high enough such that she doesn't get insta-killed by archers.
Winged enemies? BRING IT.
GOTTA GET ALL DEM ARCHERS
THE NUKE KILLED OUR CLERIC NOOOOO
-
It appears Raide is a pretty average place. High taxes are such a turn-off.
Hey it's Dio!
And he wants to kick our ass.
Dio's henchmen are mostly pushovers except for the ones who got lines. Those fucking Phynxes dodged most of my attacks despite the type advantage!
CHARGE ACROSS THE BRIDGE
I might have summoned Latula too early, what with all the invisible guys running around.
The sheer amount of enemy dodging reaches ridiculous levels.
Vitali is our first casualty, being ripped apart.
Without a healer, Los Banditos will have to waste each turn healing using items.
We are winning, slowly but surely.
Latula takes one too many knives in the head, and her squad is destroyed.
STOP. FUCKING. DODGING.
The battle has grown long, and we must restore our stamina. Dio summons a pain rune. I think it's a bad idea to stay under that circle.
FINISH THIS, MERRIGOLD
-
THEY BROUGHT BACKUP
Merrigold will hold the bridgehead against the phynxes and bareknuckles whilst XCOM squad rushes past and assaults the archers.
The mages attempt to cross the river, and therefore Latula's squad will wade in and shoot them to death.
FUCKING LOVE LAST ACT + DEATH CHARGE
Latula squad still takes a beating since Pyremages are so damage-oriented. Items are required to restore HP because the cleric alone can't cut it.
While expending stamina allows you to use skills, when it's too low your combat ability begins to suffer a lot. Therefore I restore XCOM's stamina.
OH GOD HELP
HEAVY FUCKING CASUALTIES
Adding the knight to XCOM unlocked a new skill: Storm Duo. It hits the edges of an enemy formation, and in this case ended the mission.
Requirement: 2 melee units + 1 magic unit. I guess Dan didn't count.
-
We make peace, fortunately. But with strings attached.
BROMANCE. With 2 and a half men
Cue fade to black, and we see another of Gig's dreams. Maybe this explains why he's merely affably evil. Just following orders.
WE MOVE
We are waylaid by bandits once more. Except they're a balanced bunch. Luckily my army is balanced.
-
Even the Endorph is amazed at my split personality.
More awkward moments

VICTORY
4 Room locks!
New rooms!
Hero Chamber - Nearby squads get +20% in stats. I didn't take a screenie.
Yellow room is interesting....came with 2 decors. Useless though.
Martyrary is.....well....
Decided to keep Fodder's room. Will reroll (for the next 20 minutes) until RNG gives me large rooms.
Merrigold's room gets a makeover. This resets all the inspections I've done in the previous room, which is now gone. At least those Nereids have a place!
However, Team Firebat is now vulnerable to attacks that attack whole columns.
Hero's Chamber + >5 spots was nearly impossible to obtain, but I got it after fast forwarding.
I was thinking of Clowns Abound, but then I realized I can't remove myself from a room. I have to roll until the room I AM in is the one I want.
CHECK OUT MY BODYGUARDS
