Thinking on other potential beast units, Anthony from Fates would serve as a decent grand hero battle if they want to do a Vallite themed banner with Arete and Sumaragi etc. I would have said the Demon King too until about a week ago but unfortunately they decided to go with tome for that one.

I forgot Anthony, but I'd prefer him under the Colorless Fist weapon type that I still want them to add. Also, I have always had in mind that they'll save Arete until they feel like adding singing cavalry for further powercreep. Hopefully, they don't add sing/dance to cavalry, but if they do, Arete or a strategist Azura alt would be the most fitting introductions.

There is a possibility once the story gets to Jotun(heim), that some of the giants are interpreted as beasts or accompanied by them. That would add more beasts if the next FE doesn't before then.

  2. The main thing I'd want in a remake is full and voiced supports. It would be interesting to see the ~8-10 supports they had in mind.

I second Tormod, Muarim and Vika rejoining earlier, even if they are unavailable for maps where you face laguz until the 4-E-3 dragon laguz. Overall availability could be helped if they add a few more maps for units outside Ike's army to contribute in. Add more maps with interesting terrain, objectives or side-objectives like the part 2 ones. Autoleveling to match enemy levels in their rejoin chapter is ok if they don't want to add maps.

Weaken some powerhouses like Haar a bit, and strengthen weaklings like Meg, along with other balancing adjustments.

For Micaiah, if they add something like an enemy-phase Wary Fighter she could learn, that would help a bit.

Allow the removal of Bane from Whispers, or change it to a command like PoR's Gamble. I wouldn't mind Combat Arts being introduced, in which case, change it to Subdue.

They could add tonics at a limit of 1 or 2 per character per chapter.

Enemy target lines/damage preview will probably be an optional standard from now on. Remove that instead of enemy range from the harder mode(s).

I see, this explains it. Hanneman is one of few instructors that can teach Reason both pre-timeskip and post-timeskip, and I trained Byleth in Reason a lot. I would question why Manuela's S-support didn't unlock, but maybe that's because Byleth has a boon in Faith, as well as Faith being easier to get mastery for overall.

So, I take it that my new female S-supports, the ones I can buy from NG+ but never unlocked, are the females that have reached 1001+ points with (while playing as FByleth)? This would be useful in trying to unlock as many S-supports as I can. Is it faster/more efficient to play as the opposite gender and rack up support points (i.e. playing as FByleth and reaching the 1001 point threshold with all of the females) to get their S-supports?

Yeah, faculty training gives out support points, specially if you get Great or Perfect (the latter seems locked to Byleth's strengths and budding talent, and seems likeliest when Byleth is behind in skill levels compared to their teacher).

Yes, outside of the S supports you've chosen on previous files, the only supports that go up to 1001 are ones Byleth can't S support in that file (same-gender units outside of the 5 they can S support). There's no in-game check outside not noticing hearts when battling together or seeing the top 3 supports Byleth has, if you are sure a character below theirs/not shown also capped (supports are shown and selected for endings in support log order when there's ties: lords, BE, BL, GD, Church, AW). It is quite tedious to reach 1001 points in battle (I'm doing that at the moment), try to do most of the support building in the monastery, specially with gifts if they're faculty/knights.

I have a thread here, with some source links at the top, where I'm trying to figure out most of the support point gains. I'll try to fix and test it in the summer when I can ask for help. For now, there's lots of question marks, but it can give you a general idea of the point ranges and which actions may be best for support building (battle SP are very slow for Byleth).

Oh, no, I've definitely unlocked supports for Hanneman, I've just never unlocked his S-support by choice. I have unlocked his A support, but I don't remember if I did that originally as MByleth or FByleth. On one hand, it might have been MByleth because that was my first run and I was going around unlocking as many supports as possible, but on the other hand, most of my playthroughs (particularly NG+ ones) were as FByleth. I have only deployed him a few times for Rally Magic spam to get his supports (I stopped after getting all of his A supports), and he never fought in combat, but that shouldn't matter here.

Sorry for any confusion. I've unlocked nearly every support in the game, excluding S-supports, but Hanneman is the only new male S-support I can buy from NG+. I've never used him to fight, but I doubt that I abused Rally Magic on any Byleth enough to reach the 1001 point threshold. I don't think I've ever shared a meal with him either, if that makes a difference.

Oh, that turns down the underflow theory. However, it seems like you use Hanneman quite a bit. Faculty gain around 45% extra support points from things like gifts/lost items, faculty training, and instructing them in lessons. There's also a point gained for deploying, so it's looking likely that you finished up the 1001 support points indirectly.

  5. I'm on the fence on how they'll implement them, but I think with the way they have so far where they've let the door open for move-type to determine their type (infantry is mid-size beasts: wolves/tigers, cavalry is lighter ones: kitsune/taguel/cats, armored is heaviest: lions, and flying is bird laguz), they'll put dragons with the other breaths, to leave the possibility of inheritable beast weapons around. Whelp/Fledgling and Yearling/Hatchling can all fit dragon laguz, but the last-tier Fangs and Claws/Beaks don't fit the Dragon Laguz fighting style. The big question is Rafiel, but it'd be best to just assume he's a flying beast that mostly healed and give him some sort of occasional penalty.

I think FE3H's monsters will fill beast spots, specially the armored beast spot since armor is an important aspect of them, they can counter at range, and it'd be 4 male lions otherwise. I've been of the idea Miklan would be implemented as an Armored Beast GHB. Indech, Macuil and Maurice can also be in some spots, and could serve as Mythics if necessary (although Soan's almost assured at some point).

    Spoiler

There's also good Fallen Heroes banner material like Hegemon Husk Edelgard, Giant Demonic Beast Dedue, and many other possibilities if they go further into what ifs, like Wandering Beast Marianne.

Also, I want them to add Colorless Fist weapons already, and make occasional alt banners with untransformed laguz (specially to fill the cavalry/flying fist spots). Let Reyson punch Oliver again in FEH!

Strangely enough, I can view the S-supports on my Support Log. So I can buy some that I've never unlocked, save it to another file, and then the S-supports would be available to view in my Support Log. They've all defaulted to Silver Snow endgame supports (my second route completed route, as MByleth) for some reason, I wonder why that is.

@haarhaarhaar Very interesting. I was in fact able to unlock a total of 8 S-supports, but these were all new characters that I have never unlocked before. How are the characters determined? The only new male support that I've unlocked through buying is Hanneman (wtf lmao), which doesn't make sense to me since I've never used him in any playthrough, so I couldn't have unlocked it via support points (even though he does have Rally Magic which makes it easier to build). Why can I buy some S-supports, but not others? The NG+ showed me which supports were available ahead of time, and they seemed a bit random. I completed 3 routes without the DLC, but I could buy Hapi's and Constance's S-supports (on 5th run right now), which was really weird.

If you've never reached a Hanneman support, do you recall if you've selected dialogue choices he disliked? I am wondering if a sort of underflow occurred, or if the game has taken note that you haven't reached any support with those characters that would have been available, and is encouraging you to try them. Maybe ~0 support points = 1001 (S) for the NG+ supports screen, or it was something rolled down in an update, or from some dialogue choice that affects multiple characters but doesn't show it. I'll take note of this for the support point thread and I'd be really interested on any extra details you can provide.

  7. Here's my order:
    1. Dark Fliers - Fliers are great, and magic with Canto and no terrain penalties is great. It has no equivalents and works as a final class. Its weaknesses include only 1 flying magic battalion per run, foregoing extra magic uses/range and no Dark Tomefaire for Hapi/Lysithea. Also, sadly gender-locked. Transmute is niche.
    2. Valkyrie - Mostly a transition class into Dark Knight to trade range for a bit more power and move, although the extra range is always useful to deal with archers. The gender lock hurts it the most since most of the Dark Knight candidates (Hubert, Sylvain, Lorenz, Hanneman) are male. Uncanny Blow is nice and worth an ability slot for some builds, but some of the better candidates can't get it or are physically-inclined (although it's a good buy for units like Hilda on NG+).
    3. Trickster - Partly a transition class into Mortal Savant (or Dancer), specially to get some speed, but some units like Manuela may choose to stick with it if there's other healers and they don't want to train Reason much. Foul Play is nice to play around with as a mini-Warp/Rescue. The "some magic" clause hurts it, specially for units that have good spells they are better off doubling/quadrupling the uses. Lucky 7 is not where you want it most of the time. If only it had 6 move or skipped the "some magic" part...
    4. War Monk/Cleric - Mostly a transition class into Grappler or War Master for male units to pick up Brawl Avo +20. Only brawling class for Catherine, although she's better off with Swordfaire. Pneuma Gale is good as 1-2 range CA, but the units that can make good use of it (like Constance) are better off in magic classes without the "some magic" aspect.

There was a poll here on who's best in each class. The results were Constance for Dark Flier (Lysithea, Marianne and Flayn as also good candidates, I'd bump up Annette too since her Reason spells are ok not doubled), Lysithea for Valkyrie (Hapi and Marianne close behind), Yuri won Trickster (Manuela got second, mostly because of her Reason weakness), and Byleth and Balthus tied for War Monk (Catherine after them).

  8. Normal is a good difficulty, specially if you usually like Normal/Classic in the latest games. PoR Hard is also not as severe a jump in difficulty as some recent FEs on their hardest modes since the JP-only Maniac mode played that role. I would give it a try on a future file if you're up for more PoR, maybe with a themed run.

Also, since you want to do data transfers and don't have a copy of RD yet, you may end up with a first run copy which has the glitch where you can't transfer PoR Easy mode files (I call it the "Muarim is Ike's sister" version due to this error, which was how I could tell I had a 1st run copy). To not waste an Easy run that you cannot transfer later, go with Normal.

I looked at the article again. They didn’t do a good job explaining they meant April 2020, not 20 as a date.

The part that was due "by April 30, 2020" was DLC wave 4 Cindered Shadows, already released 2 months ago. DLC waves 2-4 were released before the expected time of release (set before the game was released), that you can check here. There is no direct confirmation of more DLC, and only a few datamined placeholders and hints that some details may be explained later, but that could be in another drama CD, another interview, another medium (maybe a Heroes event like Forging Bonds), or not at all.

  10. My arguments in favor of Flying Healer Elincia:

-We're likely getting back to the HP+Stat legendaries with Armored Units with enough BST to not need the boost, that means the next one would likely be the Wind Pair-Up legendary to complete the 2nd column.
-Elincia's affinity is Heaven and Wind is the closest non-Mythic blessing for her.
-We haven't had a female legendary since Celica in December, and the pair-up columns have 2 female units and nobody from Tellius [it would have been nice if Geoffrey, Lucia or Bastian were in FEH to be her pair-up partner, but I suppose (LH?) Ike would be her trailer pair-up partner].
-We still don't have a staff (or beast) legendary/mythic and Wind is surprisingly missing a flying LH.
    -We've gotten same-color back-to-back legendary-legendary (Eirika-Hrid) and legendary-mythic (Eliwood-Sothis) before.
-Now that Seasonals are mostly going into their own banner and there's been a lot of colorless demotes, we need more colorless legendaries/mythics to fill up spots.
-The 15th anniversary of PoR is this month.

I also wouldn't mind Micaiah in the spot, but I feel she's more fitting under Earth or Water in whatever the next LH thing is (3rd pair up column?), although they could do something unusual like Earth-Res, ch3-13-stay-in-the-green-zone, armored healer, Light Sage Micaiah. Also, Seliph or Sigurd would be great too.

What supports are timegated? I know there was a thread for that, but it's been buried. I'm asking because the Dimitri-Felix B support gives me a Sword of Zoltan, and I wonder if that's missable.

The time-locked supports thread needs some work since there's quite a few more missing. It mentions Dimitri-Felix C must be done pre-timeskip. I'm not sure if there's a lower timegate in part 1 for the B support, but it can definitely be checked pre-timeskip and post-timeskip after Dimitri can support again. Byleth//Dimitri C being unlocked after chapter 4 starts is one missing on the list, and I recall reading some Ashen Wolves related supports too, but I can only find Ashe x Hapi C being pre-timeskip only.

  12. I'd go Crimson Flower then Verdant Wind. Crimson Flower has the same starting units (part 1 will be similar except you can use Edelgard/Hubert all you want and won't lose them), but part 2 will be different. Verdant Wind after will be a much more different experience, and by then, you may feel a bit less sameness since Silver Snow was 2 playthroughs before (VW is basically SS + Claude + 2nd Gronder battle and different finale).

Does anyone have a list/document of all of the default goals for every character? I couldn't find one on the main page, sorry if this has been asked before.

For knowing initial goals, you can look at Aggro Incarnate's great base stats/skill levels spreadsheet and see which skill levels change by chapter (the ones with numbers). Characters that can't cross houses (the lords, Jeritza and Dedue) have the same initial goals as their seminars, except Hubert whose initial goals are Reason/Authority.

Here is Jacien's pastebin with goal suggestions (not updated with Ashen Wolves yet) if you are also interested.

I've always knew support gains were different for Byleth but never had an idea of how different, even after so many playthroughs.

Part of what compelled me to make this post asking for more info is that after many chapters of Seteth/Byleth being adjutants to each other plus 2 (Great) Faculty instructions, they still have not reached A support, while everyone else is taking 1 or 2 chapters. I understand that the intention is to make all the ways Byleth can gain support outside battle more desirable, but it would be nice to know exactly by how much and any differences on hitting/doing damage/etc. It's more complicated now, but we could get to a table like the RD one at some point.

  15. It's been almost 8 months since FE3H released, but I haven't found any updated and comprehensive lists of possible support point gains in the game. The closest list is this one by The3096, with this support point range thread by Jacien_V to assist (useful for NG+ support buying details). There are still a lot of details to verify, specially after the DLC updates. I am making this forum post to ask if any dataminers (and/or repetitionists) are willing to help complete the list that The3096 started. If the complete support points list already exists somewhere in the web, it would be nice to link here to help find it on forum or browser searches. I would appreciate any help in fixing support point numbers, answering my Check questions, or asking questions I didn't think about.

    Support Point Ranges:
    0 - 100: None
    101 - 200: C
    201 - 300: C+
    301 - 450: B
    451 - 600: B+
    601 - 800: A
    801 - 1000: A+
    1001: S

Basically, 100 pts to get to C, 200 to get from C to B, 300 to get from B to A, and 400 to get from A to S. Support ranges are halved for the + range.

    Support Conversation Gains:
See the Support: 1 to advance rank
After seeing a support: (unless request to talk is ignored)
    C Support: +20
    B Support: +40?
A Support: +80? (if they have an S support?)
A Support: +20? (if they don't have an S support?)
A Support: +30? (if they are faculty and don't have an S support?)

Check: variances in support point gains

    Conversation Favored Choice:

    Instruct:

    Praise/Counsel (after Perfect/Bad): 10
    Good: 0

Check: if the 45% Faculty boost also applies to Instruct.

    Mission Assistant-Only?:
    Use a Movement Combat Art: 3? / 1?
Targeted by Assist Spell from non-Byleth unit: - / 1?

Byleth/Non-Byleth, Mission Assistant and Adjutant differences need to be accounted for (if any for the latter).
NPCs like Rhea (unlike Mission Assistants and Chapter Assistants) don't seem to gain SP.
Mission Assistants appear to gain SP with Byleth for any support-building action that involves them even if not nearby on the map.

    Interesting Details:

    • For purposes of determining pairings or showing top 3 supports, the game takes external support log order: Lords>BE>BL>GD>Church/Knights>AW. Byleth seems to show last when tied on other characters' top 3 supports lists, probably for lack of ending with them outside S supports.

Edit: Values with an * are semi-confirmed by my testing, but may be off if decimals are involved. Values with ? are still speculated.

  16. Lord gets a Yes from me because Subdue gets a Yes. I like skills that help set up finishes by weaker units or squeeze in a bit more EXP, and Subdue does that in the best form in the series yet, as an optional combat art not tied to a specific weapon (SoV's lord weapons), an always active skill (Elincia's Mercy), or an always active weapon effect (Takumi's Shinai/Niles's Bow). I use it often when the lord doesn't have something more important to do, specially on bosses or monsters I want to set up for someone I'm training. It has disadvantages in being a sword art (not the lord main weapon types) on the contested combat art spots.

However, lord is just a disappointing class, mostly because its skill level bonuses only tie to Dimitri's unique class progression. Edelgard and Claude should have had Axe and Bow focuses or sub-focuses, because they have other classes they'd rather be in for their mastery skills, specially Brigand. Even an infantry-focused Dimitri would rather struggle with an Axe rank for Brigand and/or increase his riding for the eventual Move+1.

Overall, Res+2 is early-game filler, and the class is terrible unless you really want Subdue and already mastered the better intermediate classes. The other benefit I see in the class is getting Dimitri to complete his Battalion Wrath+Vantage combo faster, while focusing his goals for that. Dimitri can get to Windsweep along the way. Claude may also consider it since he gets Finesse Blade and a healing Silver Sword, but if he wanted the Authority earlier for Battalion Wrath, he may as well go through Mercenary for Vantage. Edelgard's axe magic combat art is better than her sword one, and she's closer to Brigand than the other lords, therefore a No in CF, but a possible Yes if going SS where she can help train others before leaving.

  17. Oh, you can see the Byleth/Dimitri C support on chapter 4/month 7 (it will probably pop up as you start the month when he wishes to speak with you). It's a weird support to delay since by the next chapter you can meet Rodrigue, who is mentioned in that support and Byleth is confused. I suppose they lock it because he reveals some details about himself and wanted the player to spend more trust-earning time. All 3 lords have certain time-locked supports.

The Wayseer is part of the DLC after finishing chapter 1 of the side story and buying the option on a main file with renown. Although if you've gotten the support on a previous file of NG+, you can rebuy at the same price. The Wayseer just lets you skip the support building.

  18. Apparently, there's a glitch where if you check the Holy Tomb on New Game+, it locks you out of the Dimitri X Byleth C support. I'm not sure if that has been fixed yet, or if you have the DLC, if you are able to still buy the support from the Wayseer. There was a thread on most of the time-locked supports, but it's missing a few like Lysithea X Byleth A and info on a few others (it mentions the glitch too).

  19. The online liaison starts appearing on chapter 4 (month 7) for buying and such, but you can only start doing recons on the next chapter (5) after you visited all the areas, including the graveyard which unlocks then. Do 3 4-person recons and you get the Essar Research Group battalion.

  20. These are some of the gifts Anna likes and dislikes for those interested in raising her motivation. It may be missing some rarer gifts; I think she may like the Ancient Coin, but I used them all on Rhea and can't check. Forget-me-nots can be harvested from Yield-3 Pale Blue Flower Seeds, which is great since you can get plenty from trying to get Speed Carrots.

    Anna
Likes: Forget-me-nots, Landscape Painting, Exotic Spices, Goddess Statuette, Coffee Beans
    Dislikes: Fishing Float, Smoked Meat

(Random note: If you get a Bad result when instructing Anna, select Critique.)

I haven't seen much talk of Sauna strategies. It's possible everyone has different heat tolerances/endurance (doesn't seem to be strictly stat-based) and some random numbers are thrown in. Raphael, Petra and Anna I've mostly seen their bars grow slower than Byleth's, while most others tend to grow faster, specially the frail characters like Lysithea and the healers. Doing Stay Longer first seems to be good to get an idea of how the 2 bars will grow without overdoing it.

  21. Jeritza
Strong in Sword, Lance, Brawling and Riding
    Weak in Faith and Authority
    Budding Talent in Flying

    Anna
Strong in Sword, Axe, Bow and Faith
    Weak in Reason and Authority
    Budding Talent in Riding

I was right about Jeritza except for the budding talent which is randomly flying and not bows for using his sacred weapon. He has a Minor Crest of Lamine.

Anna, on the other hand, has strengths based on her past playable appearances with nothing new. Her personal skill is just Luck+5, she has a Major Crest of Ernest, and she seems pretty good in Speed and overall Assassin-like although her Luck seems lower than expected. Like Ignatz, her initial goals are Sword and Bow, so if you want to wait until chapter 11 to recruit her, she can be an instant Assassin like him. You can faculty train with Anna for her strengths and she can give part 1 seminars in Swords/Bows.

  22. I'd be interested in occasionally using a tool like this. Here's some things it'd be nice if it could do:

-interpret starts and ends at the same level as class changing to adjust base stats without leveling up in the class. Ex: Swordmaster Start 34 End 34 for Lysithea to change her Str to 17.
    -show average stats
-(following the above) show decimals just to tell if it'd have been likelier to get a low-growth stat up by then
    -include enemy class growths
-have class stat boosts as an aside in parentheses

I think sticking to average stats would be best since those take more work to generate for this game than previous ones, but if you also have a random mode that could be fun to check. You probably already noticed (since the sample table seems to show it), but if there's a random mode, it should consider non-Byleth faculty/knights have a minimum of 0 stats per level up and the rest have a minimum of 2. An average mode can ignore this since everyone's growth totals are over 200 and the decimal places keep carrying over.
