  1. Finally, I'm not the only one lol Technically I'm a native speaker of Chinese as well but since almost nothing in my life requires me to use the language other than talking with my parents, I can go a long time without using Chinese if I allowed it so I kinda have get it via Kanji. People go silent when I tell them I learn Chinese through Japanese. Just don't make me physically write Chinese/Kanji though; put a piece of paper in front of me and all of it goes out the window. I manage fine for the most part when I'm the mood to physically write Chinese/Kanji (by having a dictionary app open the whole time) but certain words that stack vertically like 事 or stretch horizontally like 興 usually don't look right when I attempt to write them. It's probably because I wasn't required to write physically outside of homework/tests so once I had the option to start typing Chinese/Japanese, I kinda just stuck with it.
  2. I just realized that I mixed up 増加 with 強化 Thank you for the correction. Fixed my original comment. This is a case where I let Chinese take over. My Chinese isn't great but 除 and 含 are words I do know so when I see words like 除く and 含む where it's one Kanji followed by kana, sometimes I go the lazy route and just take the Chinese meaning if they have the same meaning. It's not often I rely on Chinese when I read Japanese but it's something my brain does sometimes. I do have to say this part of Citrine's weapon threw me for a loop when I read it. I was skimming the description so my brain skipped over the [Movement +1] and [Pathfinder] statuses and then proceeded to wonder why they bothered to mention those 2 statuses when it's going to just spread [Bonus] statuses to other units.
  3. How does Arcane Darkbow compare to Arcane Náströnd? Arcane Darkbow seems a little underwhelming to me. Náströnd's guaranteed follow-up functions similarly to follow-up negation neutralization for fast units and DR feels more useful than the Desperation effect from Darkbow.
  4. Not sword/10 😂 Skimming the list of swords on the wiki, I want to say the most recent sword with the word in the name is BylethF's Captain Sword? You can thank the localization team for being inconsistent with how they handled the term "bonus". There's [Bonus] that refers to status effects like NFU/Dodge and then there's the field buff bonus, the blue numbers in the view unit screen when a stat is buffed by Rally/Hone/Fortify etc. For reference, in case anyone's curious, [Bonus] is [有利な状態] (translation: "advantageous condition") and field buff bonus is 強化 ("strengthening"; thank you @Ice Dragon for the correction) in Japanese but both of these are grouped under "bonus" in English, thus the usage has lead to confusion. I usually don't watch the English trailer but I noticed "stat bonus" was used to refer to field buff bonuses in Citrine's weapon. It's been a while since I've paid attention to the English skill description but apparently the term has existed as early as Eirika's refine? Wouldn't surprise me if the term has been used since the beginning. Slightly related but this reminds me of when someone inherited Assault Troop onto Amelia but it didn't trigger Grado Poleax's in combat buff.
  5. Managed to pull SV!Edelgard and decided to field her in MS. Three actions in one turn with the help of Assault Troop is very fun. It can be 4 since I have her paired with Thorr but I was too lazy to switch between them. I'm actually thinking of going back to the banner for one more copy since I would like to use her more now that I have her and the extra merge helps with scoring in RB. Too bad the banner ends on the day before the trailer for the next SH banner would go up but I think I'd still want the copy more. The L/M banner is coming up pretty soon and I would also like 2 copies of the arcane bow for inheritance since there's a good chance R!Tana will be a focus since she's next in line to get rerun but I don't even have the 2 units that I would give the weapon to so I'm not in a rush.
  6. Would the C skill recommendation change much if I run Savior units? The team I field for RS consists of 4 Legendary Heroes but they serve as backpacks, one for each Savior unit, one for Catria, and one for Silque. I run Savior units to draw in attacks during enemy phase so I can focus on dealing damage to the boss during player phase.
  7. Thinking back, I have been able to achieve max score ever since I pulled Catria. The times where I didn't were mostly due to sloppy playing/poor positioning that failed to meet Triangle Attack's condition. I do have the listed units so I can try it out the next time the game mode returns. The build definitely looks interesting. Will have to keep an eye out for her whenever it's her turn in HoF.
  8. Is Silque currently the best unit to reset the enemy's cooldown and inflict Guard outside of Mia that debuted with the staff? I only use her in RS but a part of me wants a faster unit(basically her but faster) so they can quad attack after the team is granted the Triangle Attack/Dual Strike status. I did free pull a Hei∂r and could probably try out double Breath of Life on her.
  9. 生贄 is one of those words that I learned from YGO and never actually looked up. Thinking back, the fact that it's specifically referring to living sacrifice makes a lot of sense since Monsters are considered living creatures. I don't have a NY!Panne either. I don't expect new skills like Clash to enter the normal pool as a 4* unlock anytime soon but the fact that we're still playing catch up to get old skills to be released as a 4* unlock such as the Ploy skills is disappointing. Don't get me started on QR3. I'm not hurting for feathers but I rather not spend 20K feathers for skills that have a decent chance of being dropped to 4*. Assuming this banner gets the 8 month treatment, then the rerun will take place in January 2024, which is when NY!Panne will be back. I think that's a better time to commit orbs when I can get all the pieces in a short time span. I have the orbs to spark Chrom on this banner but he most likely would just be sitting there until I get Atk/Spd Clash 3 so I'm not in a hurry. Sure, it's a big upgrade for my Caeda but it's not a must-have.
  10. You can give Chrom's entire kit to someone somewhat easily as most of the prerequisites are likely already in your barracks aside from Clash: Silver Sword, Atk/Spd Clash from NY!Panne, Spd/Def Snag from Kent, Spd Tactic 3 from Dwyer(needs 20K feathers). Snag is flier/cavalry exclusive so you can save 20K feathers and just get Spd Tactic 2 from Dwyer to inherit everything except Snag. I plan on giving the sword to Caeda so she's getting the full kit if I do pull for it. Thank goodness I held off from pulling Arcane Élujú∂nir. I am in saving mode though so I'm debating if I should just wait until the banner gets a FB rerun. Does anyone know the earliest a NH banner has gotten its FB rerun(assuming it's a popular banner like the fallen banners)?
  11. They went with the human form VA, 島崎信長 (Nobunaga Shimazaki). His dragon form VA is 納谷六郎 (Rokuro Naya). EDIT: Here's a list of Fates VAs in case anyone was curious: English | Japanese
  12. It wasn't until I had to mention the Respite staff did I realize that they didn't just take the name from Japanese. I just referred to it by its Japanese name(Sanctuary) and realized that wasn't the English name when I tried to look it up on the wiki.
  13. Thank you for the suggestions. I completely forgot about Remote Sparrow/Guard 4. I've definitely have had some close calls in tier 19/20 arena so the DR would definitely help with her survival.
  14. As someone with a +10 Katarina, I'm considering using a Forma on her in the upcoming HoF. She's part of my arena core but I'm aiming for performance instead of score. I have Flora Guide so I'm not too concerned about getting it on her. I'm thinking of this build Drifting Grace+/Pact Blooms+ Harsh Command+ Rupture Sky Atk/Spd Catch 4 Spd/Res Far Trace | Chill Atk/Res 4 Atk/Spd Oath 4 | Spd/Res Hold I know Menace is probably a better skill on her but I prefer the consistency of Oath and Hold. What are other skills that'll be good on her?
  15. Wow, I can't read Yes, I was confusing Dual Strike with Dual Assist.
  16. It seems like I misunderstood the skill. I thought the the skill granted units(without Lucina's ring) with the skill the Backup type and would allow them to participate in chain attacks regardless of the class they're in. I wasn't aware that Dual Strike only worked on Backup units. Thanks for the clarification.
  17. Is there a hidden max number of chain attacks that can trigger from Dual Strike(+)? I gave the skill to Rosado and Chole and neither of them have activated the skill once. On the other hand, only my backup units and the unit with Lucina's ring has been consistently activating the skill. At first I thought my units were too close to each other so they can't reach the enemy but I've had my Backup units outside of enemy range with their current weapon so Dual Strike+ kick in instead.
  18. Alear is in their default Divine Dragon. I'm thinking of making them a Brave Hero once I get back an Emblem that can grant lance/axe proficiency. Just cleared chapter 11. Had Yunaka distract the northern part of the map while my units pushed through. Also got the Tomahawk, which is a bonus since I'm using Boucheron.
  19. @DaveCozy Thank for explaining how fixed mode works. It was less complicated than I thought. ------------------ So I made it to chapter 11 on Maddening Classic and I might just have to let characters die for real. Does anyone have tips for the chapter? The Freeze staff is annoying but I found that I can manage somewhat if I leave Yunaka or Alcryst in a forest tile while the others hurry out of the staff range. Another problem is the Sigurd Emblem Cavalier with the super boosted movement and I can't spare the attacks to push through to the seize point and slow down to take that Corrupted out. There's also another cavalier that gets the Roy Emblem but I doubt I can deal with it either since it takes 3 units to KO the starting Corrupted with the Roy Emblem.
  20. For some reason, I thought the meals only affected the chosen characters. Thanks for the clarification. So basically all characters will be at their average stats on fixed growth mode. Is fixed growth mode documented in more detail somewhere? It doesn't seem like the Engage page on the main site have a page for it.
  21. I'm currently watching a Maddening playthorugh and it's making me want to attempt my first Maddening run but I have some questions. 1. Are level ups for characters set in stone the moment a character is recruited like how it was in Fates? I know starting a chapter/skirmish on Hard resets the level up RNG but is that still applicable on Maddening? 2. I heard that the game forces your first Maddening run to be played on fixed growth mode. Is this true? 3. I think I heard somewhere that Maddening has a cap for the number of stats you can get across all of your level ups. Ex: if a unit gets 30 level ups, they can only get say, a cap of 50 stat increases, and that number is spread across their stats. Is this true? 4. Stat boosting meals/tonics are probably recommended on Maddening but are they necessary to a degree? I cleared the game on Hard and I didn't cook meals nor use tonics but I feel like if some maps were any harder, I probably wouldn't have been able to clear them. Granted, I did try to split my units into 2 groups on certain maps where I had the choice but that usually did not end well.
