  1. Yes, in Gaidan Delthea and Sonya are witches, but in this game they're only mages (with teleportation skills) as enemies. And story-wise there's a distinction between the two, too. But it might easily well be that women are coerced/forced into being witches, and the whole 'they were willing!' tales are to make it more palatable for people to handle. There's also the question of Sonya's epilogue (if you recruit her); it's hard to believe she'd turn willingly into a witch.
  2. I wasn't under the impression that either Delthea or Sonya were witches? I just fought Delthea's battle tonight and she was possessed by Tatarrah, not a witch.
  3. I don't know what it is about that movie but Disney definitely tapped into toddlers' heads there
  4. Those are some great points! I absolutely agree that he reads others very well and he obviously uses that ability to be able to blend in. I'm certainly not discounting other explanations and this is one example of where I really wish we could ask the writers what their intentions were! (Although a little ambiguity is always good; it causes a wider audience to resonate with the character). And thank you for agreeing with my interpretation of that scene, it's always good to know I'm not alone. Thank you for chiming in! I actually love that you find him a little off-putting; universally-liked characters are usually unrealistic, anyway. What you find off-putting is what endears me all the more to Lukas; I relate to not being able to display a wide range of emotions and I get rather uncomfortable around overly emotional people. It was pointed out to me elsewhere that Lukas seems to be really trying to reach out to Clive in their support, and that Clive doesn't see this and that frustrates Lukas immensely. I agree wholeheartedly with this interpretation and I think it's reflective of how some players see him, too.
  5. I actually played FE7 for the first time back in April, and despite the characters feeling fresh and new to me, that's how I feel, too.
  6. Thank you! This is all super interesting. It's a pity there aren't higher resolutions of all the gorgeous artwork. And I love the gigantic sheep.
  7. Oh, thank you! As to my contribution to this thread: I think most of the female characters in FE are poorly written, at least in comparison to the male characters (of whom there are several very nuanced, very well written examples).
  8. Oh, right. There's a lot of voter suppression to blame for that, although there's also the fact that both parties have a tendency right now to shit over non-white citizens. Those who did vote for Clinton were largely voting against Trump than for the Democrats.
  9. Yes, me too. Or aromantic (or both). His epilogue states that he 'never longed for companionship' which is nice and ambiguous; can be interpreted as platonic or sexual companionship, as fans desire!
  10. Russia's a big deal because it's less about whether they actually managed to skew the votes and more about whether there is evidence of collusion/tampering by a foreign government (especially a foreign government historically viewed with much suspicion and mistrust by the U.S.) Are you saying you believe more black voters would have voted for Trump?
  11. Why are all three of you newly registered users with posts only in this thread, and all against Takumi? Are you one bored person?
  12. Haha, I wrote a very similar rant elsewhere. Poor Mathilda, and Clair! (Although Silque DOES remain single... but it's not as if she has an exciting life, she basically martyrs herself for others). Nope, and she wasn't his fiancee as I recall. He simply left her then realized he felt nothing for her.
  13. I'm a bad Brit, the U.S. has corrupted me also I'm so lost on how the gauntlet is run now. I need to read up more on Heroes in general...
  14. Well, now I'm prompted to go put my kettle on.
  15. Ah, alas, poor Sakura, the Hoshidans are screwed once again. I'll be joining Priscilla next, I think. As for tea, I can't think of any tea I dislike offhand, except for when it's cold or sweet.
  16. Sakura is still ahead, woo! Quash Elise, Sakura. Quash her!
  17. I had assumed I was too late for this, but I am not! I just joined Sakura's team.
  18. Agreed, I detest neoliberalism and I disagree over many (minor) issues with many fellow left-leaning friends, but we definitely need to learn to unite and find a common goal if we're to advance at all. I don't know anyone who has answered a political survey, if anecdotes are now counting. I live in California, so if I'd based my assumptions on the people I'm surrounded by, I would have been totally wrong. Lord Raven is right - we shouldn't jump from 'Trump won so the media is all lies!' but from 'Trump won - so this is a reminder that all polls have a margin of error, that it's important to get people to vote, and that gerrymandering should be examined.'
  19. Woah, that's somehow a darker take on his history than my suggestion of emotional child abuse, haha. Either way, he's definitely far from boring!
  20. All in all it's not too bad, but it's not home, and the cultural differences have grown really stark as of late! I've been here nearly 9 years and the first few years it was fun and new and exciting, but ironically the longer I stay here, the more alien I feel. I try to get back to the motherland at least once every 18 months or so. :)
  21. Hi! I am a fellow Brit, but I tend to alternate between spellings because I now live in the wretched wastes of the U.S. and can't always be bothered to correct my phone's auto-correct.
  22. (I realize that this isn't your argument, and no one has yet argued this point in this thread, but to address it in case anyone feels this way): I really dislike this argument, because the chronically sick/elderly/young who require the most medical attention are often literally incapable of work. The U.S. also has appalling labor laws that allow employers to pay disabled workers below minimum wage, sometimes lower than a dollar an hour. There's also the issue that, prior to the AHA, lifetime limits affected people who did work. My friend, who hit his lifetime limit, was/is employed as an engineer, so he's earning far above minimum wage, but his salary still couldn't compensate for his out of pocket medical costs.
