  1. Which is why we agree with you on Aureola. Apocalypse, though, has the oh-so-tenuous link of "his mother has the Dark affinity".
  2. Because they didn't meet as elementary children. Elena died when Mist was old enough to understand "don't let anyone see the medallion" and Ike was old enough to understand "don't bully the kid in the corner", Soren is stated to have joined the group significantly enough later that Ike no longer remembers him, and the brothers were at least old enough that Oscar was in the Crimean Knights before they met the Greil Mercs. EDIT: It occurred to me while I was in the shower, but Ike forgot Soren for other reasons. Since neither Soren nor Mist challenges time as an excuse, my point does not change, but it bears mentioning. Unrelated, but since these guys get "Meet some of the Heroes", how often will this be a thing?
  3. ...I went back to the tag to check. Astrid is only tagged in eleven works, the most recent two of which are mine. Astrid/Makalov might actually be one of the more frequently occurring pairings by dint of lack of competition- Geoffrey/Astrid and Marcia/Astrid tie (both the Geoffrey ones are mine), and Lekain/Astrid is alluded to in three, tagged in only one. ...I forgot how bad the Begnion characters had it in terms of story count. Reminds me of how many people started favouriting my Silvia story back when she released because she's got, like, five stories.
  4. On Ao3, last I checked, there are two stories tagged with Astrid/Makalov. One of them is mine, and is entirely focused on Geoffrey's feelings for Astrid, and although I haven't read the other one, the description leads me to believe it actually ships Naesala/Astrid.
  5. Hey, I'm still on the tail end of the Tellius kick I got from that Tormod/Sanaki story, but it's almost entirely focused on the Begnions. Even though the other countries have roles, Greil and Marcia are the more important of the "Greil Mercenaries" group- and even then, it's debatable how much Marcia counts as a Greil Merc.
  6. From what little I've gotten into, I'm mostly on Birthright's side because I enjoy Japanese instruments thanks to Okami, while Conquest blurs somewhat.
  7. Between this kind and the original meaning of the word (continuity-based), it's why I've started doing my best to refer to Camilla's brand of fanservice as 'sexservice'. But yes, this wouldn't be half bad. It depends on what they have to do to squeeze it in, but if it works, I'd love it.
  8. The patch I played for New Mystery (FE12) looked acceptable, with no JP text I ever stumbled into. Thracia (FE5), on the other hand, may or may not even have one.
  9. I'm going to echo @Sire in basically every way. Very little from this Channel interests me (even less than Sumia's), and much of the stuff focuses on the same features that wound up turning me away and keeping me away. In the end, I'm honestly not sure if there ever was a way to bring me back, but IS is certainly not on the right track to finding it.
  10. I sent them an email through the inquiries link I found on the CYL site. I got a not-encouraging response all but telling me to use the in-game feedback.
  11. I just noticed: all four losers (CYL2 had a tie) are from different games. We have Thracia 776, Gaiden, Genealogy and BS/New Mystery representatives in Glade, Garth, Bloom and Frost, respectively. ...Who's next?
  12. For those that have not played PoR/RD (he was in both), this is Jorge. He was the character that bought your items when you were selling them in the base. Character-wise, most of his scenes are as one voice in the "Merchant convoy" of Muston, Aimee, Jorge and Daniel, and even the scenes he has separately are shared with his twin, Daniel. His most involved solo scene is a base conversation at the beginning of Chapter 22: Solo. He and Daniel challenge each other to a game of tabletop war (something that mildly frustrates Ike, who would prefer if they were able to contribute to the real war effort directly), and in an earlier conversation in Chapter 13, Ike gave Daniel hints about challenging his opponent over boarding planks on a boat- incidentally, Chapter 13 is doing this exact thing. Jorge complains that Daniel has gotten better at the game thanks to Ike's tips (he was the one who suggested the game in the first place), and Ike mildly lashes out. Ike eventually relents, apologising for his frustration, and gives Jorge the tip that, if an enemy is in your way and you can't/don't want to kill them, you can Shove them aside- which, again, comes up in Chapter 22 if you want the Ashera Staff. Jorge's only other significant contribution outside of the early-game, where the Merchants are a mixture of tutorial and exposition, is as part of a set of conversations in Part 4. He and Daniel share an encouraging conversation about the battle ahead with Elincia, and give her a free Rexflame tome.
  13. She's vain, giving herself multiple baths a day (reminder she is a desert queen) and using the magical Fygg she gets to supplement her bathwater to make her skin extra smooth. I wonder how much of my dissent is also partially because I dislike that these character traits were assigned to Tharja in the first place. Then again, Faye has a few of the same traits and has one of the cutests designs in Echoes without showing any skin.
  14. I claim the opposite. The black is bland and the gold doesn't create much contrast, while the white/purple descent looks pretty and I prefer the hairstyle. Here's a character set up as attractive in-universe, has a desert theme and has a design I actually like. Surprisingly similar, now I see her again.
  15. Don't forget L'Arachel, who I'm surprised did not have a keystone-quality set.
  16. I mean, if she was going for "Egyptian", I think this is actually closer. Plus, the desert excuse doesn't hold water (pardon the pun) when you think about just how bad black and fine fits the environment- something closer to white, and perhaps a bit looser, is what she should be going for.
  17. For the people voting Galle and Elena: And as for the bottom?
  18. Just how many of my favourite classic characters have been sneaking giant busts in? Shows how much I care about them.
  19. You say the NES characters is on a technicality, but say there's a Gamecube appearance with no strings attached?
  20. They are the same size? I've been thinking breastplates that size represented smaller breasts this whole time!
  21. Friendly reminder that the only thing in CYL1 that the characters themselves couldn't use were the horses.
  22. I skipped out on the Awakening/Fates games, so all those banners elicit a "why do I care" response. It's... an interesting experience. Doesn't help I'm fairly sure Rivals is JP only now. I'm definitely interested in DQ fanservice, but unfortunately, I don't think I have the consoles. Ultimately, I think the problem is that the not-Awakening/Fates crowd is so diverse that, even assuming they were equal in size to the Awakening/Fates group, appealing to them in a broad sense is much more difficult. Some dislike Echoes. Some have never played Tellius. Some struggle to emulate Jugdral. Some never got the appeal of Marth. And some find the GBA lords overrated.
  23. If Heroes doesn't do a dramatic turn around, voter decline is an observable phenomenon and CYL4 comes back, it would be practically guaranteed one of the top four spaces was a "nobody". By CYL5, you probably edge closer to Serenes/reddit/Gamefaqs/co representing a majority of the voterbase, and there wouldn't be a Lord in the lot.
  24. "MWAHAHAHA! Round 3, Nifling babies and Askrian wimps!" "Lob the milk at him in three... two..."
