  1. So we're up and running again! If it ain't broke, don't fix it :)

    This weeks set, no armor but still a lot to play with.

    Same rules, just keep in mind that we don't over custom stuff :)

    RULES THAT YOU MUST FOLLOW:

    • No mass Customization, you may custom a bit to make your mug look good/making it work, such as working on shading a bit, but try not to go overboard.
    • You can use any color palette, you aren't chained to FE colors, go ahead and recolor to your hearts content.
    • You have to use at least 1 piece of each mug, that shouldn't be too hard.
    • You may use only the set given, no other mugs.
    • 16 color limit, don't go crazy with your colors. >_> 15 on your mug +1 for background. This might be a bit of trouble for some, so I'll be a bit lenient with this rule. I just don't want to see mugs with like 50 colors with rainbows.
    • The winner will be determined by voting, if there is a tie, the poll will be edited to include only the ties, and revoted upon.
    • Don't vote for yourself or I will personally beat the shit out of you.
    • Hosts may enter contests
    • Only 1 mug per member
    • Winner of the contest will choose the next set, but seriously, don't be a jerk and choose a set with all different body sizes/things that won't fit, choose things that would be an interesting set

    Do NOT bitch that something looks overly custom or that something should be disqualified, etc. etc. It is not your place to judge. If you think there is a problem with an entry then PM Vamp and he will take care of it since he runs the competition. This is not a suggestion, it is a rule that I am going to be very strict about and expect all of you to follow.

  3. @Tangerine: I find it funny that you bring up Pi, because as new information reveals, he and Noetherianring are in fact the same person and NOE had splices in comps back on FEND that were far more than simple. So this really does confuse me a little.

    That said, I'd just like to say to the spriters, self regulate, if you feel you're going overboard in the customization, pull it back, or if you're too far gone, keep it in mind for the next one you enter.

    For me, I try to keep the customization to tidying toward the end, and I've done videos that show this, I think using tiny bits to make an outline does have a place, but should be used more sparsely, for example I wouldn't call Chars man from the little girl set a proper splice, but to be perfectly honest, if it's not happening all the time, I find stuff like that usually draws positive attention and a higher influx of viewers and voters, I just recon that if we're all a bit more laid back towards this stuff we'd probably have less drama, for me I know it's not about winning, I enjoy spriting, so I do it, and the biggest part is having a finished product I'm happy with, the main reason I post sprites on a community is so that I can get CC on them to iron out the flaws and make myself happier with them, validation from others is nice, but if you can stare at your sprites with unbiased eyes and be really proud of it, then that's a good thing, so to sum up, if we all just chill a bit and if us spriters keep these complaint in mind for future stuff, well probably have a nicer environment to share our work.

    Well on second thoughts it seems pillowy whenever most of the wyverns back is showing

    Arm in the pocket seems too thin in the deltoid/bicep(upper arm and shoulder) chest/torso shading makes very little sense, the pant leg seems real pillowy as do the boots, but the boots are all round and lack a sensical shape? they look like smurf shoes :( You've got a long way to go, but keep it up :)

    Nayr initally made a half finished base, I customed over it though, so I'd say yes, her pose is currently really awkward though, hence the decontructed one to the far right which I will finish eventually, also wanting to touch up the weird shoulderpad :/

    Updated the troab generics hair so it was less 'round/spherical' also reverted to the previous bangs I'd made for it.

Wherever his hand holds the pole at the angle the pole becomes, it's unlikely he"ll hit the floor with it, what I meant by not retaining the position is that his hand seems to slide back to its initial distance by the 2nd pose, his other arm also seems really awkward at all times, I'm not sure if you actually want cnc, but let me know if you don't ;) and I won't continue

    Young Brendan, needs a fair amount of work but i guess its fully shaded so thats what mattered most for deadlines and such, cnc please :D

  11. The way the axe swipes seems odd, why does it go down then spin and curve up? Shouldnt it be more fluid from initial pose to the second pose?

    Hand shouldn't move up, you don't retain the position in the second pose and there's no reason for his hand to be that close to the blade, his armor plate/hanging cloth from his waist sits oddly and seems to shorten when he spins.

    Leg shading is expremely pillowy particularly on the rear of the pants, there's no bend I his knees yet he's bowlegged

  12. @Klock: I think the difference is, a map uses Pre existing tiles with shading, and a lot of the technical errors are hard to see/are fixed by dropping another tile over the bad one, yes maps come down to design in the fact that you're making a scene, but I'm sure the voting would be more similar to other comps if it was scratch mapping/editing/splicing tiles.

    Voted for Feaw, purely epic castle :)
