  1. I agree, but my honest assessment is that the republicans have started a race to the bottom. That's in terms of voter suppression, the widespread gerrymandering, and the attempt to install judges in the scotus who will overturn chevron deference and guarantee conservative outcomes and policy regardless of who's in the white house, and congress.
  2. Collins and Murkowski have said one thing and done another before. The Kavanaugh confirmation and Trump impeachment come to mind. I'm not out beat down on people's hopes here, but things look really bleak.
  3. Roberts was on the court when bush v gore was decided, and essentially, the scotus got to decide who would be president. He voted for bush. We don't have that kind of experience with Gorsuch, but he is deeply conservative and has had zero problems with making things up to justify his legal opinions/votes, if they align with his political agenda. (This applies to Roberts as well, actually) I wouldn't rely on either.
  4. that's fair, but they're a decently sized voting block.
  5. Most Bernie bros don't seem to have gotten the memo that shit will get substantially worse for a lot of folks that aren't them.

  7. Several people have approached anacybele in a number of ways in this very thread. If you wanted to make some more general points on communication, shrug.
  8. I am on the spectrum as well and a lot of my friends are as well. Being ASD only carries so much weight as an excuse for this sort of behaviour.
  9. No, that's not calling you a racist. That's saying your posts look like something a racist would say. That's not delving into whether or not you're actually racist.
  10. Whether or not Lord Raven thinks you a racist I'll leave up to him, but you have made a whole list of posts in this thread that reek of racism, and ape positions held by actual racists. Nonetheless he's treated you with way more respect and patience than you did to him, and tried to explain time and time again how things actually work when you post something. Leaving that aside, though, at this point it should be clear to you that things might not be as you've always thought they are. That means it's time to start rethinking things. And if I have to guess, that'll involve listening to your parents less.
  11. This is completely fucking wrong. Where are you even getting this nonsense from. Also, tell me which state you live in and I'll tell you if it's bad. (It's probably bad)
  12. You know just as well as me that Roberts is only a centrist in the sense of the makeup of the court. He is conservative through and through. Don't cast him in any other light.
  13. Whether or not the supreme court is a lost cause depends on who is president and who has the majority in congress when Bader Ginsburg dies. If she dies and Trump gets to pick a new justice, and has a republican senate to approve them, it's over.
  14. People have been saying way worse things about Biden and Harris than that.
  15. Being vague about your support for something does not equate to you being opposed to it. Doing your job if you're right on the law even if you disagree with the outcome is not suspect, it's doing your damn job. Acting in opposition to trans people has to be taken with a big fucking grain of salt, and to remind you, it's based on one(1) court case she argued that CDoC was not required to offer an inmate sexual reassignment surgery and that psychotherapy and hormones were the extent of their duty of care, based on the evidence.
  16. Yeah, I sincerely doubt that claim. If only because Department of Corrections decides where you're housed, and how you're treated. That's not up to the DA or AG. And let me remind you that she set up an anti-LGBTQ hate crime unit while DA, that she was instrumental in getting rid of the gay panic defense, and that she opposed Prop 8 when she was AG, and didn't defend it in court.
  17. So I read up on Kamala Harris' voting record and it turns out it's actually very progressive. Also a bunch on her time as prosecutor, and apparently she didn't prosecute people with the three strikes law unless it was violent crime, and also never asked for the death penalty, even if it would be popular. Considering all this, I feel a lot better with her as VP pick. A lot of Bernie bros I know hate her guts, mostly because she used to be a cop, but it turns out that they would like her if they could get over that.
  18. Kamala Harris has a long history of not prosecuting cops for their crimes and I don't think she should be VP.
  19. No it really isn't and the only thing that you're achieving by thinking like this is feeling bad about yourself, seeing yourself as a fuck up, or even an impostor.
  20. I'll be blunt and say there's nothing wrong with milling about in your free time.
  21. I smear some nutella on a slice of bread and eat it. It's supposed to be a quick fix, right?
  22. So, double post and all, but good news. Supreme court ruled 6-3 that Trump's tax returns have to be handed over to NY district attorney. the opinion, for anyone interested: https://t.co/RhRLnd47so EDIT: actually, never mind, it's bad. Supreme Court decided that Congress can't subpoena the president in the same opinion apparently?
