  1. Only if they let me use dark magic, and troll people from both sides with it. Serious answer: no.
  2. It's crazy what the Republican Party has become. A few years ago, the Tea Party were considered the lunatic faction of the GOP, now they're almost moderates. And the remaining sane people (McCain, Kasich, Collins) are now "RINOs"... Here in Quebec, the Democrats would be considered centre-right wing. Republicans see them as far-left... That's a weird country you have...
  3. I knew I wasn't playing efficiently, but not how far I was from it. Never mind anything I said here. I suck at this playstyle. The desert map is always one of the longest chapters for me, and the perfect place to gain levels... The strange thing is that, in every chapter I do play efficiently (I usually kill Novala quickly with Seth, for example, to avoid being surprised by unseen enemies), I feel like I'm playing bad, or almost cheating... I wonder, though, what a Lagdou Ruins tier list would look like. But that would be for another topic.
  4. Yeah, I understand how the tier lists are made, but the thing is, in games like Sacred Stones, those assumptions sometimes feel arbitrary. I feel like the point of trainee units like Amelia and Ewan was precisely to make use of the grinding features. If a unit required many hours of grinding to be on par with everyone else, it wouldn't be the same, but grinding to an usable threshold in Sacred Stones can be done really quick. But even if we consider the no grinding restriction, I feel like Knoll at least has a niche absolutely nobody else can fill in the form of Phantoms. I mean, Tethys is considered good, even though her actual stats are terrible, because she can do something nobody else can. Granted, Knoll's unique skill is not as useful as Tethys', but he's still the only one to do it, and it's pretty useful for defensive tactics. What can Syrene do that no other flyer can? Not to mention she's as frail as they come and around for only 5 chapters. The tier lists here feel like movement is the only important stat or ability. Well, that and the dancing skill. I'm exaggerating a bit, but still... Also, in the desert chapter, Knoll can easily get a few levels before promotion, letting him become not-useless as far as combat is concerned even in a no-grind.
  5. It's mostly that we forget it even exists in those occasions where it would be useful.
  6. Sort of unrelated, but I just had a Sorcerer Odin who maxed his magic at level 20/13 (his other stats were not too shabby either). He made Nosfera-tanking an actual reliable strategy in Conquest Hard. My MVP for that playthrough.
  7. At the very least C-tier. Maybe even B (but maybe I'm letting my personal bias blind me). I'm not too good with tier lists, especially not in Sacred Stones, where everyone has potential, and the tier list seems to mostly evaluate how easy they are to make full use of. I'll admit that Knoll isn't the easiest guy to use, but he does have a very useful niche where his only competitor is much more underleveled, and not even as good as him if they both go this path, so that should be taken into account. @SturmIf understanding the lyrics is important to you, definitely go for their second album. Simple concept about the 4 seasons plus a fifth they imagined. Each of the first four tracks represents a season, with lyrics mostly abstract, conjuring images that complement the feel of the music (though the Autumn song has some double-entendre referring to Quebec's political situation at the time). The fifth season is represented by a 20-minute instumental track, so no worries there. Their third album is definitely more lyrics-heavy, though, but I'd probably love it even if I didn't understand a word. I listen to a lot of Italian prog and, while I can understand a bit of written Italian (since it resembles French a little bit), I lack the proficiency to process the lyrics as I hear them; I just try to think of the vocals as another instrument.
  8. Indeed, indeed. I tend to get passionate when talking about progressive rock... Knoll should be higher, or, at the very least, would deserve to be higher if the game was more difficult. He deals decent enough damage and is very accurate, and doubles most enemies when sticking with Flux, but his Def is pathetic and his even more pathetic Luck means that he'll have a hard time avoiding enemy attacks. His vulnerability to critical hits can be covered by the Hoplon Guard (he's really the only character who needs it). All in all, his combat is not bad, and Knoll is very usable as a fighting unit, but I'll admit he's below-average in this regard compared to Sacred Stones' other characters. Still, I feel like the glass cannon mages are under appreciated around here (Orochi's been very useful to me in Fates), but that's besides the point. What makes him shine is the Summoner's ability. The summoned phantoms will always be targeted by the enemies if they are in their attacking range. Furthermore, Knoll's phantoms have pretty good avoid, so the enemy is likely to waste many units' move in bringing it down. That is the most reliable way to control the enemy troops' movement in the game (barring a certain glitch, but, you know, glitches are not exactly legitimate...). If this was a harder FE, this ability might be considered essential. Here it is not so, but still, it saved my life a few times. This is why I think Knoll is underrated.
  9. I have actually seen them live a few years ago (shortly after the release of their Trisector album. Possibly my absolute favourite band. I don't think they ever made a bad album (well, maybe ALT, but even that was more listenable than I thought it would be.) Peter Hammill's voice just grabs me by the balls every time I hear it. I'll suggest you listen to Harmonium, a Quebec prog rock band that was huge around here back in the 70s. They started as a folk band, evolved to prog-folk, and then to full-blown progressive rock. Due to their lead singer/guitarist having a mental breakdown, they only released 3 albums, one of which is my namesake on these boards. You should try either their second album (Si on avait besoin d'une cinquième saison), or their third (L'Heptade), both amazing and very melodic concept albums. Their debut is good too, but it has little to do with prog.
  10. A King Crimson profile pic, a Yes-inspired location. I love you!
  11. Not much interest on this site, I guess... Well, considering francophones are a small minority on here, that should have been expected. I guess I'll do two versions. The French version will be my actual reactions and comments while playing. The English version will be a little less improvised, but probably more entertaining that way since, while my English is pretty good, I tend to sound bored when I speak without preparation. I'll be more expressive, if a bit less genuine, if I take inspiration from my French LPs.
  12. Maybe this site isn't the best place to discuss this, but I was thinking about Let's Playing some FEs and creating a YouTube channel for that purpose. Now I was wondering if there was enough interest among French-speaking players to warrant doing this in my native language (with that funny Quebec accent). Even though I do speak English, I feel like I wouldn't contribute anything new to the community if I were to do this exclusively in English. When speaking english, I also feel as if I lack much of the wit I exhibit in French, or I'm not as quick on the draw. I also thought about doing two versions of my LP using the same footage, one in French and one in English, but then one of those wouldn't be as genuine, as it would be only me talking over already recorded footage. Anyway, share your thoughts! Due to my schedule, I won't have time to do this until 2018, but I want you guys' opinions anyway!
  13. Final Fantasy VI. It's a very good game, but it's so overrated that I have to mention it here. It is considered a pinnacle of videogame storytelling and character development. Why? The character development is kinda always the same. WoB introduction/conclusion of WoB arc/ WoR recruitment. Three scenes of development. Not to mention Setzer's backstory is almost the same as Locke's (minus the creepy stuff). They recycled arcs from the very same game. And Kefka's a lame Joker clone, whose accomplishmentscan only be blamed on Gestahl's stupidity. Seriously, was there anything about Kefka that didn't scream "untrustworthy psycho", and he never seemed especially competent at his job... Why was he allowed to be the Emperor's right-hand man? And if destroying the world could be done by moving statues, any other villain could have done it, but it's a shitty motivation anyway. And am I the only one to believe that if the Phantom Train plot had been introduced in a later game, say FFXIII, it would have been derided by the fanbase as the most ridiculous thing ever?
  14. I'm pretty sure Raven getting RNG-screwed in nothing but a GameFAQs meme.
  15. I prefer when it's the same person, like Ashnard. If not, I'd rather have the end boss being part of the villain's plan (FE6's would have been great if the final boss had been even remotely challenging; Zephiel was the mastermind, the main antagonist, and the last battles were still about preventing his plan to succeed; this applies to FE7's Dragon as well), rather than being the actual architect behind the whole mess. Lyon, I like much better in Ephraim's road, because there it is clear he willingly lets himself get possessed by Fomortiis with a clear motive for doing so, thus feeling more like an actual main antagonist. Validar is probably my least favourite villain in the series, having no motive at all beyond doing evil things for Grima, and being ultimately nothing but Grima's willing pawn. Gangrel and Walhart had much more potential than this jerk. Garon is even more disappointing in that he actually had some potential. If he were anything like he is described as having been decades earlier, he could have been a multi-layered, compelling antagonist. That alone would have fixed much of Fates' story issues, making Xander much more believable without changing any of Xander's dialogue. If they really had to keep Anankos in, they could have made Garon's descent into madness more gradual and tragic, with him having bouts of lucidity and some genuine fatherly moments, possibly being aware of his inevitable mental decay... In the end, the only thing gray about him was his skin. I liked Xander in Birthright and Takumi in Conquest much better as actual villains, even though Takumi was also Anankos' pawn... Fuck Anankos, really! Fates is still awesome, though.
  16. I once had a Franz with five consecutive HP-only levels (and the rest wasn't much better)... My worst unit ever...
  17. I really like Orochi's design for some reason, I suppose I have a weakness for cute Asian girls... I really enjoy her character too, and I found her to be quite underrated, gameplay-wise (then again, Lilina was my FE6 MVP, so...). Niles is probably my favourite of the males. Special mention to Rinkah and Kagero. Least favourite is Camilla, though not exactly for the usual reasons, and mostly because her design ensured she would be loved and hated all for the wrong reasons, with no attention paid to her actual character, i.e. a psychologically messed-up girl, but a well-intentioned one, who tried to be a mother for her parentless younger siblings (cause Garon really wasn't a parent anymore), despite not being exactly fit for the role. Still, she was arguably the closest thing to a reasonable parental figure that Corrin, Leo and Elise had while growing up.
  18. I think the only 3DS antagonists to be as interesting as those two would be some of the siblings from the path you didn't chose in Fates. I actually enjoyed Xander as an antagonist. Takumi was quite compelling as well.
  19. Panne and Say'ri are the two most attractive females to me.
  20. Happy for the Preds. Glad to see P.K. Subban is having success there. Wish he was still a Hab! One of my all-time favourite players. Habs/Rangers series is as tight as it gets. Doesn't feel like first round at all. Congrats (and thanks) Rangers for playing better than you did during game 3: even as a Hab fan, this makes things more exciting. I feel both our teams deserved to get at least to Division finals, but, oh well...
  21. Claims nobody likes rotten bananas.
  22. Hates it when he wants to eat a banana, only to discover said banana has begun to rot.
  23. Hi, I'm a soul merchant. I buy and sell souls. You have a beautiful soul. Want to sell it to me? I can give you 4.95$CAN. Then I will either sell it to the highest bidder, or devour it if no one wants it.

  25. Some weird and hard to describe tickle-ish feeling in my stomach, and the impossibility to think about anthing else but that girl. Erections aren't about love; they're about sexual attraction. While somewhat related (I won't fall in love with someone I'm not sexually attracted to, but there are many other factors), those two things are ultimately very different.
