  1. I remember that boss battle, it was charming. Although me not realizing you could bring objects through the TV screens made for like 20 minutes of sheer frustration before getting to it, I could see what I had to do, but I didn't understand how to do it. Reminds me I decided to watch some longplays of a few of the 3D Sonic games. I have no intentions of watching '06 or Shadow though. I grew up with Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, but I only touched a demo of the Director's Cut of the first Sonic Adventure. Maybe it's bias, and I only watched the Sonic section of SA1 so far, but SA1 feels like a tech demo, a showcase of the Dreamcast's power and less like an actual game for much of it. SA2 isn't devoid of set pieces in its stages don't get me wrong, but it looks more streamlined and like actual semi-challenging gameplay. But I forgive Sega for any SA1 faults because it was the first non-gimmick 3D platform Sonic game. Trying to figure out how to transition a franchise may need some trial and error, even if Mario and Zelda and other franchises had already made the leap. Though the plot of SA1? Mario's near absence of plot from its 3D games is absolutely fine for me now, because 3D Sonic I see always wants to be cool and maybe serious, but the ice is actually cheddar, so cheesy. I suggest trying bao, I bought some Americanized cheesesteak-filled ones once, the Chinese buns were slightly doughy in a good way. Or in other words, a calzone, those are good. Pocket pies regardless of culture, filling, and method of cooking are delicious. Not that I've eaten many, what's the price for shipping a real Cornish pasty across the Atlantic? You're reminding me of the 60 Minutes episode I watched where a Netherlands zoo euthanized a young male giraffe for controversial reasons in public for everyone to watch and the subsequent dissection too, the zookeepers were encouraging parents to bring their children to the event.
  2. Somehow I managed. And the touch controls are a total gimmick, only extant because every launch DS game had to use the touchscreen in some way, Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow being another case where they were just tacked on. Sure the DS version made Tick Tock Clock a little easier, and Luigi's backflip is a giant cheat among other things. But I still think 64DS is better. Almost got every star too, before a young relative deleted that save file. I'd suppose it's "purists" who prefer the original, and admittedly, the non-Mario characters, while nice, feel a little scattershot, not entirely cohesive with the game they've been added to even with the adjustments for them. And thanks for the bit on bows and crossbows.
  3. Bringing up the claws, if X2 were to add new weapon types in addition to the already extant 12... Given the current class tree system, adding 4 new weapons, two ranged and two melee of course, would neatly fit and be not too many. The Multigun already exists and I like the concept, so include it. As for the rest, they should not overlap too much with current weaponry I'd say. For melee: Knuckles/Claws would be a good pick for melee, the few Psycho Launcher attacks involving punches and kicks could stay I’d say, they aren’t a lot. Do we need katanas when Photon Sabers exist? Ga Jiarg the samurai prince uses basically a ‘Saber. Do we need axes when the Longsword fulfills the role of a heavy two-handed weapon? A pole/staff? Couldn't the Javelins do all of that? Whips for the second melee weapon? A whip could contain ball-and-chain stuff too. What for the second ranged weapon? No to shotguns from me. A semiautomatic or submachine gun isn’t necessary when Assault Rifles and Gatling Guns exist. A rocket launcher or bazooka? If those are partly covered by the Gatling, Assault Rifle, and Multigun, then are they redundant? One handgun? Well, we do have a puny Knife against a Longsword and Dual Swords, but do Dual Guns share enough of the grounds a handgun would cover? The Bitball? Too silly for XCX. A boomerang replacement still sounds odd. And chakrams… well Avatara Missile is small chakrams and thats Ranged, but the much larger chakram weapon any ordinary Skell can equip counts as Melee. Not fond of a bow or crossbow, but is this the best choice? Sounds a little primitive for sci-fi, but it is very distinctive from the above stuff.
  4. If the issue is roughness of the hair, then this, Sigurd's very first official artwork, fits the bill too I guess.:
  5. There is one giant problem here. FE has permadeath, and the Game Over screen ends up knowing you like a spouse in Etrian on the hardest difficulties. Then there is the simple dungeons of SoV being fairly repetitive and lacking in strategy, not a good thing yet it's the closest we currently have to what dungeon crawling meets FE is like. I feel if there were to be an EOxFE crossover, it'd want to play the labyrinth like a giant SRPG map, but make the battles take place on smaller slices of that great map and thus closer to a JRPG. This sounds difficult to make happen though. When a battle isn't happening, your characters move much more quickly as one unit, thus removing the tedium of shuffling everyone where you want to go, they only become split up individual units on separate tiles when a battle is initiated. And we'll probably have to ditch permadeath, not that thats a true concern. FOEs... cavalry and fliers will find a major use heading for the "exit" on a battlefield and rescuing the slowpokes to it when you come face to face with the terrible Death Mantis. Or if we want to be really strategic, the Knights can bait the FOE while the Cavaliers activate a switch to go further in the labyrinth or to flank the FOE for a powerful strategic attack of some kind. Considering Persona Q did away with create-your-own-characters, I'd say the same for FEQ (for now that'll be its name), the love affair of FE with reclassing since Shadow Dragon provides an opportunity for the installation of the EO class system to an extent. Bringing in existing FE characters instead of OCs would be better for marketing. As for the narrative. Do recall EOV and the Fetid Necropolis, that Stratum was host to a great war long ago that left it a polluted land of the dead. If a Stratum could have that, then entire FE armies can fit inside a Yggdrasil. That'd be an alright premise for the story. All I could ask for is playable pandas in an FE game, and Dark Hunters, Wildings, Imperials and EO Necromancers would be cool too.
  6. I'd rather have Arvis and Lewyn. I want FE4 Remake to give me a two-minute Dance of Fire and Wind between Arvis and Lewyn as the latter tries to buy time for others to have the slightest chance of surviving the great massacre (the ingame animations of everyone standing still as meteors come their way have to be seriously amended with modern computer animation). Consider this the practice recital. S&D would be nice, time for some Gen 1 Jugdral alts and all. Have them spontaneously summoned in the middle of their wedding dance. Guessing on silhouettes isn't my thing though, not enough for me to go on to have a clue.
  7. They already had her character model, but making her playable would mean more animations, more VA work, was it deemed too much? She'd need Arts, and IIRC, didn't she use claws when you fought her? That'd mean a new set of Arts and not the mere copying you said was done with the two Nopon.
  8. FeixElly won out vs. an FE pairing. They may stand a snowball's chance in hell of winning the whole one little forum game contest, but it's still nice to see. Speaking of Persona 2 earlier, they did for fun make this official "teaser" for an anime of it that doesn't exist (nor did they have serious plans for an anime).:
  9. TMS was far more fun than this game ever was for me. And setting aside the uniqueness of FE gameplay, which I do like, TMS was personally more fun than Three Houses too. The same on Kain/Alva/Robert. Some people are still just plain acidic when it comes to TMS, the time for that passed in the weeks after June 24th 2016. I'd also say some other mainline FE characters who do have a lick of personality, are less deserving of entry than TMS characters. Aran, Laura, Gareth, Devdan, Vika, Macellan, maybe Chulainn (he's filler-y), Barret, and definitely Brigand Boss and Memebot Jorge. Now mind you, a few of the characters named above could leverage a rare weapon/class type to compensate for little personality- Vika and Aran definitely could. I'm not saying the TMS cast is amazing beyond belief, but against the very bottom of the mainline FE barrel? There is no reason they can't triumphantly contest that. I'll add that I wholly support adding the "little guys" to FEH, I'll throw a cheer if Frost or Conomor or Zelot gets in. It isn't like TMS would prevent many of the little guys from getting into FEH either, there are only 10 hero characters in TMS. And Barry I would be fine with leaving out, middle-aged magical girls-liking otaku is a little creepy even if it's supposed to be silly; as I would the mostly nonexistent TMS villains though some of their visual designs might be exotic. But I don't see having the other nine heroes with the occasional alt as being a grand theft of character slots.
  10. I wouldn't actually. Narratively, the game is at least decent, arguably good (I thought it was). And the same can be said for the cast of characters, even in the absence of the Social Links/Confidants that P3 invented. But gameplay-wise, I got through Innocent Sin and couldn't be bothered to go into Eternal Punishment. Why? Random encounter rate is way too high, battles are stiff and definitely a little slow. Dungeon-design was rather poor too. Music is only alright outside of the main themes. And being PS1 games, they visually fail to be more than acceptable. I'd say "watch a no-commentary Let's Play", as I did with Eternal Punishment. But for me I kinda felt that was flawed too, because LPers aren't going to revisit most locations after every dungeon and seeing if the NPCs and the four non-silent heroes changed their conversations just for the sake of it. I enjoyed doing that in Innocent Sin because it added bit by bit to the feel of the world and the heroes themselves. -But this is just me, maybe you're different. But then, what's to be done? Find cheat codes to pop in the old emulator for insta-leveling, unlimited Tarot Cards and etc. when the tedium comes in?
  11. From Trails I assume? Technically, the fancy word means just means "divine totality".
  12. I've fought the P2 IS final boss, besides one attack in the second phase, it wasn't hard. I've watched the final battles for 1 and P2 EP, and unfortunately the design of the P1 final boss is rather unforgettable. -- After Pleroma, I set sail upon the seas for Nevanplace as instructed, the Lucier kingdom that resides in snowy lands north of vast swathes of desert. I meet the king there, he tells me to head to Devos Desert to kill a baddie to prove my strength. I thought to myself "wait, wasn't that the desert where an NPC at the entrance said "the enemies are strong here, you want to be around level 40 (literally, it said that)"?. It was. My current level, with wandering of a lot of the open seas (not all traversable at the moment) is 34. Common enemies in said desert were dealing 60 damage a hit on my characters that have don't even have 150 HP yet. Oh dear... Hypno Crystals are buyable now, but expensive. So are Stonols, which I need to buy a ton of because one optional dungeon (there's a handful of these now) has Dragons that can inflict Petrify.
  13. Not all good Catholic warriors wanted to go on Crusade when the first one was called. According to one (Arab) account, when Roger I of Sicily was informed of the plans to to invade the Holy Land and take Jerusalem, he lifted his leg and farted, then stating "By the truth of my religion, there is more use in that than in what you have to say". To be fair to Roger's lack of zealotry, he was an older man concerned about consolidating his hard-earned possessions in southern Italy. His realm was chiefly comprised of Sicily, which had a significant Muslim population, and it would be hard to peacefully trade with the infidels of North Africa if he was off killing their fellow believers in the Levant.
  14. Referring to TMS? Yes. Each of the non-Itsuki playable characters plus Tiki, Maiko, and Barry have a set of three side-stories. Completion of all three improves a character's ending bio- the kind you'd find in typical FE. Completion of all side-stories alters on little scene after the credits.
  15. I was going to make a joke like that, but I felt it would be too vulgar. But have they ran together naked before? (Well "Japanese soul nudity", their real physical bodies weren't nude at the time, don't ask.) Fei and Elly have what you say and more. Stuck in a PS1 game that'll never get the remake it deserves. Oh, and for my third vote, IkexElincia, to counter my IkexSoren earlier.
  16. Feels weird to be going through a game without a real guide from what I'm aware. I mean I do have access to class minutiae (which is all I really need actually) and I see a few LPs of the game online, but no complete dedicated walkthroughs. I kind of like this feeling, even if its strange not having a clear idea of what I'm missing. Apparently there was a secret room in Aizhen castle that would've led to a quest that'd have gotten me a slightly better item for weakening Eclipse. But thats about as far as the one guide I could find goes. No surprise SagixMilly lost on the shipping contest. I'm surprised they got 3 votes besides mine! Definitely all not-KiragixMidori votes, rather than for the pairing. Which isn't the most openly romantic and lacks a dedicated romance plot/subplot (but I still find it quietly good) -if anyone besides myself played the niche title at all. And there goes the chance of a Monolith v. Monolith matchup, the second half of which won't likely make it through either because obscurity of age and above all else- Squaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaare!
  17. There is a limited number of deployment slots, a lot of units need EXP, a limited resource, to keep up. EXP also enables units to exceed those who come later. Dorothy has a harder time generating a greater net return than Perceval on these investments. If an FE had no EXP whatsoever and units were totally static, perhaps Karel would be better. Perhaps he would be better with limitless deployment slots. Making FE more puzzle-like perhaps? Even if I don't argue well, and you may say not without reason that I don't, I don't do it a lot, I wouldn't call Karel bad, he doesn't hinder others. Karel is a net positive, just a small net positive. Percy and Lance can rack up a lot more total net positive and remain statistically better than Karel; and if you have enough units statistically better than Karel when he shows up, very likely given his last chapter availability why use him?
  18. No, it isn't a Persona either! No Social Links/Confidantes, no life sim junk, and no psychobabble makes this game F-tier Persona. TMS is an orphan.
  19. I think you just enjoy being contrarian. Although on certain sites, you are correct about tier lists being mating rituals for males who, by virtue of their personalities, will never find a mate. Availability isn't everything, a forever of mediocrity can be dethroned by a lesser availability of pure gloriousness. FE6 Marcus, the most perfectly Jageny of Jagens to fit the Jagen idea and not exceed it, is a case of this. Benching past like C15 at the very latest, in a way he stops being "available", does not make his earlier contributions irrelevant. Yet, Karel does nothing when I'm crying my heart out in Chapter 7, or any other chapter besides the last two for that matter. I quite dislike ""X is godly, why do you need anything else!" if X comes five seconds from the ending" arguments, because they do nothing for allllllll the game beforehand, where I may be more frustrated. And given the ease of the final chapter of Binding Blade, it's hard not to see how the frustration wouldn't be earlier. If you have an open slot with nobody better, sure, Karel is good for filling it. Except, it is very possible you will have all your character slots filled by better people already, and Durandal has no shortage of potential good users. Marcus on other the other hand came in a bunch of tough early fights with a guaranteed slot for several of them and strong claim due to lack of trained powerhouses to a deployment slot when they first become a thing.
  20. And considering everyone has at least two elements associated with them, the TMS characters we have would in that sense be better represented with a couple alts in addition to their base selves. Tsubasa would like Green Tome and "Staff" forms, or Itsuki with Blue Tome, and I don't care how thats carried out.
  21. Next destination was a place called Pleroma, the center of the most advanced scholarship in Eden. Which was reached by airship:
  22. Random encounters are easy, as they are throughout this series, no more than three turns of just attacking usually wipes them all out. The dragons at first were a bit difficult, though now that my team is getting into the stride of things, common Dragons aren becoming less dangerous. And as with VFD, I'm able to take them on right away. The best offense is best option overall, especially because another Dragon that'll join in isn't very far away in this game, and the focus on offense here I find reminiscent of all three of the other games. The two Imperials I've slain have were moderate and weak respectively. Mana management in these longer fights will probably be an issue for any team without a Princess with Moonlit Song or a Healer with Craft Mana, although I've found some Mana Waters and the stuff might be buyable now. No in-dungeon save points is annoying (I have made save states right before bosses), and shortcuts are akin to EO, except they aren't marked on your map nor do you get any indication they exist besides "wind can be felt here" when you're near one. Healing spots exist deep in dungeons I'll add, and no dungeon is that big. Inventory functions differently- 100 slots for everything except equipped gear and multiple copies of the same item take up separate slots. But the real item issue is that Healing Aeros do not exist so far, so no group healing, and besides one Hypno Crystal I got as a quest reward, not a single revival item has been available at all, nor most ailment-relief items. Thats cumbersome, though having 4 character slots instead of 3 means you can fit in a Healer to provide all those things I'm currently lacking in. When I think on how strong you could be later into VFD, I'm thinking that by the time I get to late 7th D DS the challenge level will be higher. Then again, some bosses at the end of VFD were quite powerful. And 7th D DS doesn't allow for ailment stacking, I can't be Confused, Poisoned, Bleeding, Cursed, and Paralyzed all at once, only the highest ranked ailment applies. That sounds like a boon in my favor considering the love ailment abuse by late VFD bosses, but then again, EO could make difficult bosses under the same restriction, albeit you could be inflicted with Binds there too, which don't exist here. Runeys in RF3 and 4 are there mostly as a little reference to Frontier. There, they were more important to agriculture, if enough regions of the town were in Prosperity concerning Runey numbers, crops would grow up to 3 days faster (I think, there were never any ingame guides explaining the finer details of this stuff, it was up to a handful of fans to figure out what they could). If on the other hand you let the Runey populations reach extinction, crops would take longer to grow and might wither and die even. The Runey system when left alone would collapse on itself. I would love a sophisticated partly-magical climatological-ecological system in a Rune Factory game that the player could manipulate. But Frontier's was a rudimentary flop. Congrats! For whatever "rushed late" issues it has, and I'd have liked The Four to have a bigger speaking role after their liberation, I do think Xillia is quietly good. Agreed, this is mostly awesome. I don't understand it either, it doesn't deserve to be treated like a forgotten stepchild. That and the limited release on 3D All-Stars is evil. HD updates of 64 and Sunshine would've been cool too. -Though I don't intend to get 3D All-Stars, 64 I would not finish *childhood memories of Unagi intensified*, and I still have Sunshine and the Galaxies (and 64DS). Although it's not limited-time, I wouldn't skip on 3D World, it was fun solo for me, even if it wasn't hard. Got all the Green Stars and Stamps of most levels, I hit my roadblock one or two levels after unlocking Rosalina, which isn't until after World 8.
  23. Sylvalum Night is very lovely, add some Crimson Aurora (but not in the waters of Lake Ciel) for more late night majesty. 8-bit remix on the topic of that. I should return to XCX to wrap it up, but right now my gaming focus is on 7th Dragon, with doses of reading and two draining forms of fear and depression besides it. -- A few more 7th D dragon screenshots. Imperial Dragon No. 2 is slain.: Difficulty-wise, this is no Etrian Odyssey, especially not in random encounters. Ignoring some early dragon issues and MN limitations, the boss challenge level is presently a little lacking compared to later 7th D games too.
  24. Cast mine. ValterxEirika is giving a psychopath his delicioussssssssssss prize 🥴, so I had to go IkexSoren, even though I prefer them platonically. I just picked whoever on the first. Went for my nominated duo on the third.
  25. Sega apparently has or had some access to the Vocaloid, must be related to their creation of the Project DIVA games. Sega likewise published 7th Dragon 2020. She sings the openings to both 2020 and 2020-II and shows up just because in the game as well, being or more less there and nothing else. The soundtrack very much remains its own thing, sometimes the Miku additions are slim, but they're there in every composition. Soundtrack for the first game in Diva Mode, I've jumped to a very Miku track.: I can't find 2020-II's OST wholesale. Obscure Japan-only RPG with a name near identical to the prior is too obscure.
