  1. The question shouldn't be, "is it okay to spend money on entertainment?" -- of course the answer to that question is yes, and according to your means. The question ought to be--someone used a chocolate bar example. A chocolate bar is $1. Ok, cool, you like chocolate and you have a dollar and that's the standard rate. But maybe you like *fancy* chocolate bars. Maybe you like a chocolate bar that costs $5. That's a 500% increase, which is substantial, but you can afford it--maybe you'd rather have one good chocolate bar than five average ones--and you have to pay for quality, right. But what if the chocolate bar you want is $10? Or $50? Or $100? At some point, as the price rises, buying the chocolate bar stops being a delightful indulgence & is just plain foolish. How much should a game cost? How much should a *good* game cost? At what point--quality of enjoyment, hours of enjoyment--does it make sense to increase that limit & where is the cap? Because there *is* a cap. Everyone's circumstances are different so everyone's budget will be different--but at some point, if you're doing the virtual equivalent of spending $20k/night on a hotel room or $10k on a fancy pen (both of those things exist, there is a market for them) you can't expect people to think you're spending wisely.
  2. I'm keeping spare Lissas as Renewal fodder.
  3. I got a 5 star Mist the other day & I thought, eh, well, my first 5 star healer, might as well set her up. Once I realized that it'd take at least 2 Wryses to give her the skills I like, i decided not to bother. Might as well just use my Wrys. Or, better yet, give *him* a few extra skills, and call it a day.
  4. Contests like the one proposed in the OP can generate a lot of legal issues and/or bad press. In general, just *submitting* will require a complete release of all rights to your own artwork. This tends to make artists, especially professionals or aspiring professionals, very angry. It's a steep price to pay just for a *shot* at having a large profitable company use your work for commercial purposes. So artists get mad and instead of submitting... they rant angrily on public forums and turn the contest into a Pr disaster. Of course, if the company doesn't demand a blanket release of all rights, they open themselves up to a whole other set of suits and complaints. Most people are fans in it to have fun, but (1) maybe the artists *ought* to be reluctant to give their work away for free, so that it can be sold and (2) some people really are opportunistic jerks once there's money involved, intellectual property issues can be pretty thorny.
  5. The first or second five star I got was a -ATK/+SPD Faye & I had the same attitude: surely I can make something of her! She's got to be useful with some effort! Turns out: not really. I abandoned her for other, better four stars pretty quickly. She's been reasonably useful in these Tempest Trials, with a (five star, kitted out) Eirika buffing her. She's bulky and every once and a while she manages to kill someone in one shot. But just look at her five star level 40 stats and compare them to other, silver units you've got. She's a five star unit for her bow & I don't have the heart to sacrifice her for it. Maybe you will. PS--thanks for the advice about Cordelia, everyone. I'm still undecided, but I'm a more informed undecided.
  6. So I just pulled my first five star dupe--I now have two five star Cordelias. My first five star Cordelia was -ATK/+DEF & she's still been an MVP for me, so I was pretty excited to get a better one. New one I s -DEF/+RES... which, yes, is better but not ideal. I've also got two four star Cordelias--one's +ATK/-DEF, the other is +SPD/-DEF. obviously both of these are better than my five stars (though I'm not sure which is best.) Should I: 1. Merge my two five stars 2. Promote one of my four stars so I can merge the others into a better nature & maybe use one for fodder I have the feathers but I also have a pretty limited roster of five stars so using the feathers on a hero I already have at five stars it hard to justify, especially when my -ATK Cordelia doesn't feel lacking. On the other hand, I already know she's a great unit I like to use so it makes sense to pour resources into that. Right now there isn't anyone else I'm sure that I want to promote. Maybe I should just wait?
  7. I have some fodder but I need to spend it carefully & after a lot of hemming and hawing, I decided to ask for help figuring out which of my heroes should get which special. My special fodder includes one of each of the following: Pavise, Moonbow, Dragon Fang, Ignis, Glacies, Iceberg These are the heroes I (a) have at 5 stars and (b) use a lot, so I'm interested in sinking resources into them: Eirika, Tharja, Masked Marth, Bride Charlotte, Nino, Kagero, Cordelia. I have a few 4-stars that I use a lot and want to promote, at some point, that are also worth considering: Xander, Nowi, Cherche, Cecilia. So who should get what? Thanks for any help!
  8. The best trick I've worked out thus far is to start with the incompetent third/fourth team and save your best units for last. In fact, save enough good units that when you reach the last battle with your first, somewhat battered team you can look at the enemies, figure out what you need, and slot it in. once i started doing it this way, my performance really improved. (as an example: my only dancer is Olivia; I do not use her until I've reached and seen the Veronica battle.)
  9. Can't say I hadn't a perfect setup but I made it work. Beat Lunatic using a lot of advice from here & Reddit. Used a 5 star Caeda with Ruby sword (she's -ATK and generally useless but my only leveled hero with Ruby Sword), a 4 star +ATK Cherche with brave axe & reposition, a 5 star +ATK Nino & a four star standard issue Ursula. I tried simultaneously flying Caeda to the left to bait the healer and using Cheche's reposition to safely hit Camus with Nino. It wasn't pretty & Ursula was pretty useless--I only used her once, against the red mage--but I scraped by & got the 4 star Camus.
  10. I have a red mage problem--as in, I only draw the lame red mages. Since I don't know when or if I'll draw one of the good ones, I want to make one of my lame ones viable. I've got a -- 4⭐️ neutral Sophia -- 4⭐️ -HP/+ATK Raigh -- 4⭐️ -HP/+ATK Henry Is there a pretty cheap (because I'm not going to sink my best fodder troops into a hero I'll set aside as soon as possible) way to make any one of these not-so-painful to use?
  11. This is what's bumming me out. I'm not a fantastic player. I have a limited selection of characters & the Lunatic quests are pretty tough for me. But that's cool--I'm happy for people with more skill (or better units, or both) to get content tailored to them. I'm happy for them to get extra rewards for being extra awesome. But I have to admit, it was easier to have a good attitude when I got daily orbs. Some orbs were out of reach for me but that was ok; I progressed, too, just at a slower rate. Cool. I'd keep banging away at the lunatic quests, trying different strategies and combinations, if I could. I think it's fun. Trying and trying until I succeed is engaging--that's the whole fun of the game, right? Except the quests often cost 20 stamina** so if I try three or four times, I might play for... oh, six or seven minutes, failing fast at first and slowly by the end. So that's it. My stamina's gone & I didn't get either the satisfaction of a reward OR the satisfaction of a good play session. FE Heroes is a really fun game. I like it a lot. But I wish I could just pay $10 and play as much as I want, instead of having to deal with stamina. That alone would make the orb problem a lot more bearable; part of why I'm anxious to get new characters is because I only have a few tries at a map before I have stop for a while. I'm honestly looking around for something else to switch my game time/attention to. ** The 5/10 stamina special maps are pretty great, so kudos there.
  12. Nino it is. Thanks everyone--especially for the tips about makeshift buffer support.
  13. I can make my first 4-5 star promotion & would love a bit of input. these are the 5 stars I've *pulled*: -ATK/+SPD clair -ATK/+DEF cordelia -ATK/+SPD Faye -ATK/+RES Kagero And a Caeda I'm pretty sure is -ATK also, because she's absolutely unbearable to level, doesn't damage anything. That's all so far & looking at that list... it's a wonder I play this game at all. The Kagero is at least usable; the others really aren't. So yeah, promotion! I've gotten a little luckier with four stars, if only because I have more of them. So I have +ATK/-DEF Nino i could raise up, a -HP/+DEF Nowi, and a +ATK/-RES male Corrin. Or, alternatively, one of the Askr trio, or Zephiel, Xander, Ursula. Nino is the obvious choice, I think? Except that while I have a decent cast of 4 stars I don't have any of the buffer characters that seem to be key to making Nino shine. So she'd be strong but I can't exactly build a team around her. These promotion opportunities don't come round often, obviously, so I don't want to make a bad choice. Advice?
  14. It looks like you can see the base level 1 stats when you go to the unlock potential screen. My 3 star Cecilia is +attack and -res, my 4 star is +hp and -def. So I should keep the 3 star, right? And forget about the 4 star?
  15. Hey, thank you so much. This is super useful. I do have one question. You said: My 3 star Cecilia has already learned all the skills available to her. Are you saying I should sacrifice some other hero into the worse Cecilia so I can use the SP to learn skills & then sacrifice the worse Cecilia with the extra skills into the better Cecilia? Or am I better off keeping her around? (I don't know what the boon/bane on the original Cecilia is because she was one of the first units I pulled--or maybe I got her through a quest? But the new one is -def & +hp which I guess is blah but not disastrous.) I just hate having this troop I'm never going to use again at the top of my list when I sort by level.
  16. I have two questions, hopefully not too complicated. I'm pretty new to the game & enjoying it so far. Figuring things out as I go along. Essentially F2P--though I will periodically throw money at a game I like every so often, for services rendered. Anyhow. Questions. 1. I raised a 3 star Cecilia to level 35 in order to complete a quest. I just got a 4 star Cecilia. Should I: (1) Hang onto the 3 star Cecilia for some later use--inheritance or whatnot or (2) Merge the 3 star Cecilia into the 4 star Cecilia (I ask because 3 star Cecilia is sitting on about 300 SP. If that SP would transfer over, it's pretty tempting to give the new Cecilia the benefit of the leveling I did on the old Cecilia.) 2. I've been using my feathers to raise heroes from 3 stars to 4 stars. Since I'm new, I'm inclined to think that getting a decent batch of 4 star heroes leveled is more important than saving up to raise a single hero from 4 to 5 in the distant future. I did Anna and Sharena first since I knew they wouldn't be duped by summons. Now I'm not sure which one to pick next so I thought I'd ask. I've got a little bit of everything. I do *not* have a red mage at 4 stars so I'm considering raising one of my 3 star red mages (Raigh, Sophia, Henry). I raised Subaki to 35 for the quest & he's sitting on about 250 SP so that's tempting. I've also got 3 star versions Lon'qu, Eliwood, Hana, & Fir. Plus, I've been picking up as many quest heroes as I can, so I've got a 3 star Zephiel, Est, F!Robin, Gunter. I already have a 4 star Olivia, so no need to do that again. Suggestions? Wait, I have another 3. I have a 4 star Nino (level 37 so I'm not sure about bane/boon because I didn't check at level 1) & she has about 679 SP, which is starting to feel a little silly. She should inherit something & make use of that. What should I be looking for? --- I also have a 5 star Clair & I'm having the same issue; she's racking up SP and I don't know what to do with it. Thanks for any help!
