I don't think you need to ask me that question.

Although I don't know where you got the villain idea from. Arden is one of the starting units in Genealogy, and is one of the most kindhearted characters in the game, although he unfortunately gets made fun of by... well, the whole game really.

Let me guess, it's the face, isn't it?

Ahh, I see I have made a grave error. I never played Genealogy, so I suppose I stereotyped his character from the Paralogue.  Also, your avatar is majestic.  I'm mirin.

This makes me miss old Fire Emblem games that had deliberately ugly units in them.

LOL, NEVER MIND, I'M A HAPPY BOY NOW

That's what I'm saying.  We'll all shut up about Ayra when we summon her in a few days.  There will be a lot of free orbs from now until the end of the Tempest Trial, so we'll have a decent chance of making that happen.  Besides, if Ayra was a Tempest Trial reward, two things would happen:

    1. Every Arena match you would fight Brave Lyn, Reinhardt, Ayra, and (random Dancer)
    2. People would complain that "I can't use her as a +10 unit in Whale Arena! Screw you IS!"

Who here #TeamArden?  I kind of like a silly male villain over another waifu.

Man, you must not be familiar with gacha games at all.

This is the name of the game.  I don't get why people are complaining about this being scummy when you consider that this is the entire point of these kinds of games.  This is where they make all of their money.

I wasn't being entirely serious.  I can only dream of witch Camilla being a character in this game.

  4. The reason i'm "mad" is that this is the first time, in my experience with this game, that a banner has been specifically set up so people will whale for a particular character.  IS will make money, considering the amount of people who use +10 merged units at the top tier of arena.  These whales will likely have to spend double(?) to get Ayra due to Eldigan.  It's kind of funny, though, that people are sleeping on Arden.  He has the potential to be pretty good.  Remember, before Black Knight we got so-so rewards like Tobin, Clive, and Masked Marth.  Arden is a cut above them.  I'm also happy that I got a new red mage in Arvis.

My hope is that enough fans will get upset and IS will:

    1. Give Ayra as a free unit to all players who did not summon her
    2. Give a witch Camilla away to all players to make up for no Ayra
    3. Make a Halloween banner already

And, to be fair, I don't necessarily think that powercreep is a huge factor in this game.  It's easy to defeat most units.  The AI is pretty stupid, and can be manipulated easily.  Like baiting; Brave Lyn always attacks my Tiki even though Mulagir does 0 damage and Tiki's counterattack kills her.  Arena matches don't go more than 5 turns usually.  I'm pretty sure Ayra is one-shotted by Reinhardt (like everyone else).

Ok so without Galeforce and Brave Lyn infernal is getting frustrating.

I've come close using Rein, Brave Ike, Ninian, and Olivia but I get swarmed by the cavalier reinforcements.

Also have Klein and Sigurd as possible teammates that I think may be helpful, but it's tough to think of a strategy. And  most of the videos right now are cheese strategies. :/

Do you have Nino?  If you do, throw Desperation 3 plus L&D on her and she should be able to one-shot all non-red units on the map.  FYI I used El Nino, Rein, Performing Azura and Olivia.  Regarding dancers on this map, P! Azura is best due to the buffs she gives obviously, but if Olivia has Hone Attack plus a Hone Sacred Seal that should be fine.

I think some people are REALLY overstating this Brave Lyn, 'weakness' fiasco. That isn't to say she doesn't have other weaknesses apart from -Raven tomes, but it doesn't change the fact that Brave Lyn (and Reinhardt) are extremely oppressive. Obviously Intelligence System has taken note and tried to address the balance issues (full buff blade tomes, death blow + brave users, etc) and we can see this through Divine Naga/Crusader's Ward. Really, it just seems like user damage control which makes no sense balancing issues (particularly with older units being phased out which we can slowly see happening to more and more older units), powercreep and the like are all natural progressions of gacha games.

The game doesn't come close to be unfair, but some people are really reaching with the argument regarding units like Brave Lyn and Reinhardt.

I think what the other poasters were saying is that, when you're up against her, she's a pretty mediocre unit on your player phase due to having low defense, and Brave Bow doesn't have much utility for counterattaqing.  But unless you take out both Reinhardt and B! Lyn on the same turn, you're probably losing a unit, which is obviously a fate worse than death.  So I agree with you that they are extrememly oppressive, especially in Arena Assault.

tbh Black Knight is currently underrated because there arent enough merges for him viable a +10 Black Knight with Wrath 3, Steady Breath and Deflect magic 3 in Arena would be my nightmare lol, i wouldnt know with what to tackle him without getting the unit killed on counterattack orz ._. ecxept with a fully buffed Litreblade user

Hector has become a footnote imho. He is still good, but he is really not that scary as he was once the game launched, there are an abundance of Counters to him available, just follow the simple rule of not attacking him but letting him you attack

I think it's hilarious that people aren't using Black Knight because he can only be +1 merged.  +10 gives a good stat boost but it's hardly game-breaking, in my opinion at least.  Now, with the addition of upgraded Sacred Seals to go along with ally buffs, you can buff up any stat to very good levels without merges. Maybe if someone started a +10 Top 100 Rank thread I could understand.

"Wow, very creative" I say as I fight my thirtieth arena match in a row against Brave Lyn/Reinhardt/Brave Ike/Azura.

Outside of Reinhardt and BH!Lyn, the others are definitely not powercreep. Compared to Hector, BH!Ike trades combat performance for somewhat better mobility, although Hector with Armor March support may be better overall. Hector and Azura are in the base game, so they cannot be considered powercreep if there is nothing existing before to creep against. Xander is a really good Enemy Phase unit, but Player Phase BH!Roy is superior in raw power and has access to more merge levels. Black Knight is a really good Enemy Phase unit like Xander, but Player Phase units are still superior in terms of raw power.

I don't disagree with what you said, but my point was made in a more general sense for the game.  The units I listed are all moderately to significantly better than almost all the units in the game, especially the ones that were initially introduced, and our topic creator could just use the new units and field a top-tier team.  I mean, Brave Lyn has only one "weakness", which is Raven-tome users, but the only native users are Robin and Cecilia, and they are pretty mediocre units in general so are not commonly used.  I feel B! Ike may be the best enemy phase unit out there on a defensive level, because unless you have a green/red mage you have to resort to figuratively gang-tackling him due to Urvan/Steady Breath/Aether.  Btw I meant veiled Azura.  But then again, i'm not playing against the +10 merged teams in Arena, the teams I face usually give 684-692 points including the bonus character boost.

I thought strategy game wasn't just about using the best units, but having fun and learning how to deal with situations when you don't have the most "viable" team. Look, I just don't like using top tier units. I find it boring, especially when they aren't the characters I like. I'll say it again, I'm probably still salty about the fact that my favorite characters aren't in the game yet, but I still feel that the game tries to force you to use certain units.

I agree and disagree with this.  As has been mentioned before, any unit can become pretty good with SI plus supports, and most recently Sacred Seals.  Another thing is that, despite the protestations of IS, power creep is sort of becoming an issue.  I'm in Tier 19, and almost every match is some combination of Reinhardt/Brave Lyn/Brave Ike/Hector/Azura/Xander/Black Knight.  I guess my point is that you probably have a good amount of those aforementioned units due to the August banner, Tempest Trial, and monthlong dancer banner although I gave up on getting NeoOlivia., so just use the powercreep units and you'll be fine.

  11. Hey everyone.  I'm posting this to request assistance, and to see what others' strategies for this awful chain challenge set.  I have managed to clear the rest of the story, paralogue, chain challenge, and squad assault maps except this one.  In particular, I'm having trouble with the map that where you need to survive for 6 turns, and the chapter with all mage units on defensive tiles, plus Bruno.  Brave Lyn can't do everything by herself, and my Kagero is just quite not good enough to Desperation ORKO the mages.

  12. It's weird being on Team Ninian.  I've only been on two multipliers so far.  Seems like everyone on Team Ninian hoards their flags for the multipliers, then she shoots massively ahead of Corrin, then we bide our time for the next 4 hours until the next multiplier.  In contrast, on Team Tiki there seemed to be a multiplier every hour.

I friend requested a player who's handle is "Rebecca Thicc".  This made up for the fact that both versions of my waifu lost.

  13. I have this feeling that Reinhardt/Brave Lyn are like the "legendaries" of Fire Emblem, like Zapdos, Mewtwo, Rayquaza, etc. in Pokémon.  Including them on your teams won't be allowed because they're so OP.  I came to this realization by beating Infernal difficulty in one try, with only Brave Lyn landing blows.

On another note, Minerva is so cute!  I'm trying to get her as my next waifu.

  14. I'll add some spice to this e-conversation:

Who's the best, combat-wise, in the gauntlet?  I haven't used most of them, but I do have a 5-star Nowi and A! Tiki.  Tiki is actually quite good for me.  Having plus defense IV plus buffs & distant defense seal is a great combo for counterpunching, and she can safely take out Hector, B! Ike, and B! Lyn on enemy phase.

I wasnt referring to the new banners at all, great units have been released recently - good job IS!

My complaint was in relation to what you can do with the units. Many quests/missions and structure overall seemed to me a little bit lackluster. I like to tease my brain - for example when Valter came out and I just had FIVE 5*units I had a very hard time completing the lunatic map, took me like two days and about 8-10 stamina potions - probably spent 8 hours figuring it out with my limited means. Felt immensely satiesfied when I finally did.

Not saying they should provide content which only top tier whales might be able to complete but most of the quests are either plain grindy or boring. For example training tower quests, they should have more variety, every day something new with different rewards. Sometimes you get 100 feathers for completing stratum 10 and sometimea 200 if you just use 3 units (for example).

I'd like to see moar story/paralogue/CC/SA, but the developers only add new ones based on the story progression.  I've played the game for 4 months, and they've released 1 new story chapter since then.  It's not like the story or maps in this game are complex, so I don't really get it.

At the highest level in this game, strategy kind of goes out the window.  The enemies have such ridiculous stat inflation that you're forced to use one-shot nukes with Reposition alongside a dancer to have a chance.  Or use some buff-tank like Hector to bait out weak melee units and counterattack them into oblivion.

On a side note, have you looked at the Arena Assault top players?  I thought I played this game too much...all of them have +10 merged units, even ones that haven't been out for long (Elincia, Amelia, B! Lyn).

Also: my mood will pick up when they release an S+ tier succubus/witch Camilla for the Halloween banner.

  16. If you define "lately" as this past week, than yes.  Otherwise, I do not agree.

We got an amazing CYL Banner not too long ago with 4 top tier versions of popular units.  In September we got two GHB, two BHB, and two Tempest trials, with the second one giving away an S+ tier unit for free.  This month we got 4 dancers, one (Azura) that is a very popular character and that has one of the best artworks in the game.

My main complaint is that i'm running out of things to do.  I have maybe 6 chain challenge maps left, and they're all insanely difficult.  Finished the Squad Assaults a while ago.  But again, I've played this game pretty much everyday since it came out, for at least an hour each day.  In other words, i'm addicted!

The last Tempest Trial got old after a while.  Initially it was a lot of fun to try out my Nephenee and use BK.  Now, i'm bored of using them.  But, to be fair, I used them enough to have them at 2000+ Hero Merit already...It's weird that the novelty of using those characters went away so quickly.  My new fix is using my 5-star Brave Axe+ Death Blow Cherche.

  17. As far as the Little Tiki v. Big Tiki vote split, I believe the latter will get more votes.

    1. She's in Awakening, which is a game that most FE fans have played.

    2. More accessible in-game.  I've summoned 4 A! versions, while I have yet to summon one Y! Tiki.

    3. Lightning Breath >>> Flmetongue

Overall, I feel Female Corrin will win, because of her (bafflingly high) popularity and bc she won the Summer VG pretty easily.

  18. BK's movement could be okay with Pivot plus Wings of Mercy 3.  Also, I feel like he's more of a counterpuncher like Hector, so as long as he's in range and has Alondite equipped he'll be fine.  I didn't pull Amelia so that's what i'm rolling wif.

Damn, I'm hoping a lot of those people relax once they hit 100k.

My goal is to finish in the top 1000, but it looks like I need to step it up.

So two people in my friends list have a 5* BK with Steady Breath inherited. One of them also has Wrath and Panic Ploy which is an amazing build if you ask me.

I'm really thinking about grabbing another B!Ike for skill inheritance fodder with the free summon I have been saving... The only thing stopping me is the unwanted natures on my B!Lucina and B!Lyn.

Wouldn't Wrath be overkill on the Black Knight?  His special is already ridiculously stronk...
