  1. Is it a problem that I personally want a "Cosmic Horror Story" Fire Emblem? If IntSys is going to introduce Outrealms, dimensional-hopping, time-traveling, etc., one could wonder if there something out there far more terrifying than just a berserk dragon or a mad goddess. Though such a genre might be troubling for the series.

I'm a patient guy, so I can only assume you misunderstood me, or I may not have made myself clear, so I'll hopefully clear things up. I am not angry or otherwise upset because the announcement wasn't when we thought it would be. I'm more directly annoyed with Nintendo for only releasing 3 Major titles in the first year. I don't consider ports and remakes, to be major titles. I have a collection of 50+ games on the 3ds, and I'm sure I bought at least 10 the first year it came out. I've only bought 3 thus far for the Switch.

I'm disappointed there hasn't even been much marketing for major titles as of yet either. I'm not a fan of Kirby, but I know that's a major title for most. So that just leaves Yoshi, and Fire Emblem are games that we know about. Nothing is known about the next Metroid, or Pokemon, so I'm a bit irritated I really have zero things to look forward to yet. Imo Nintendo is not capitalizing effectively on the hype they've built around the Switch, and have thus far relied solely on 2 big titles, and a ass load of ports and indie games to drum up their sales. Not what I'd consider a good start to the year.

Oh and, I'd highly recommend getting Horizon. Personally, it doesn't have an Ubisoft feel to it at all, and I've played all the AC games. That game had me absolutely captivated. In its story, its breathtaking views, its challenges. Everything about that game made me appreciate it. And it is absolutely my favorite ps4 game I've ever played.

Console games take much more time and resources to make than handheld games. Better to let games out bit by bit than blow up the entire stack and have nothing for a while (case in point: Wii U).

  3. February/March reveal trailer, Fall/Winter simultaneous release with a dedicated direct a few weeks prior to release. I also think this game will pop up at E3 this year. It is definitely too late for a release before Q2.

And another thing, buying a console in anticipation of or to just play an upcoming game is usually not a good idea since people tend to regret spending the money on the console. Buy a console only if there is an existing library of games that interest you. I did that when I purchased both the PS4 and the Switch. Didn't even buy the PS4 until 3.5 years later when Nier, FFXV, and Persona came out and only considered getting the Switch when Zelda, Odyssey, and Splatoon, as well as a set of indie games had already come out.

  4. From what I am getting at from the post, @Prince of Iris made the assumption that a February direct is supposedly coming based on several things.

    1. Oscar learned that something would be unveiled on the 18th of January, which we now know as the Labo, and that Nintendo is allegedly providing a more detailed showing of the Labo later. (Whether that detailed showing is a Direct or not, we should ask him if he knows)

    2.  Oscar also learned that we would learn more about the Yoshi game later.

    3. Dragon Quest XI was allegedly supposed to be showed in the Mini, but it appears to have been moved to a different broadcast.

    4.  The appearance of a blank Direct spot on Nintendo's page, which historically means a direct is coming soon.

    5. Not a rumor, but Oscar believes that Nintendo wouldn't release Bayonetta 1 + 2 without showing it first, but admits that the date of the direct can be anytime.

The post can be deemed fake because it contains information which heavily contradicts how Nintendo has always operated for years.

    1. Nintendo never provides details about special editions at the same time as first revealing a title, only later when closer to launch
    2. Nintendo never announces release dates for products that are like eight months away, as seen with Project Octopath given date of September 9th
    3. Nintendo never releases retail products on a Sunday (September 9th), only on a Friday

In order for the post to be real, Nintendo would need to break from at least three different conventions at once for no discernible reason, which simply isn't realistic.

Anyone should be able to see that this is just another hoax by understanding how Nintendo handles their publishing processes.

    Thanks for the clarification!

  6. As much as Mutiny sounds unusual for a Fire Emblem game, I am going to write Mutiny off as a fake. Anyway, Oscar (theprinceofiris) on Twitter states that Mutiny (and the leak as a whole, as a result) is fake. Don't know whether he has info on the actual game though.

  7. A new, different leak has sprung up on 4chan. Take with a grain of salt:

    http://boards.4chan.org/v/thread/402547020

    Spoiler

    > Fire Emblem Mutiny - 5.4.2018
    > Fire Emblem Mutiny Special Edition w/ Hizir and Bontessa amiibo, soundtrack CD and coin - 5.4.2018

    Additional information from the OP:

    >Hizir and Bontessa are not the main protagonists in Mutiny, Hizir's sibling Preveza is. Hizir was banished from their kingdom for saving the life of a pirate (Bontessa). Hizir looks like a mix of Xander and Hector but with a tan. Bontessa looks like Syrenne from The Last Story (picture included) but with bright pink hair and a red cape.

    >Fire Emblem Mutiny will open the direct, Octopath Voyage will close it, GTA V is the "one more thing"

Thoughts: A pirate-themed Fire Emblem would be interesting, date sounds fine, but then again, this leaker claims that Nier: Automata and FFXV are coming to the Switch.

  8. Characters are what I expect from a game due to FE frequently reusing character archetypes. 2D sprites on a 3D map  indicates that they are likely using an upgraded version of the in-house Fates engine. Given I personally do not enjoy Path of Radiance/Radiant Dawn's 3D models, this is fine. Kotaro Yamada seems to be a generic choice IMO, but character art (if Yamada is indeed doing it)  might change my opinion. Fully-voiced sequences are also a plus thanks to Warriors and Echoes.

Until something official comes, I am on the fence about the leaks. Secondhand sources tend to be hit-or-miss at best and completely wrong at worst.

Question: Do you think Fire Emblem Heroes messed with our expectations for Fire Emblem Warriors' character roster? Would Warriors as is look more appealing if Heroes didn't exist?

Not really, in my opinion, but YMMV though. Even without Heroes, I would predict that people would still be up in arms over Warriors' primary focus on the three games. But to say the least, it definitely hasn't helped because Heroes already has tons of characters covered on just about every game (except Radiant Dawn, Thracia 776, and Genealogy of the Holy War).

It is gotten to the point where some are calling Heroes a better love letter to the whole franchise than Warriors. I personally feel that time and resources are at Warriors' disadvantage though.

I hope this is the case.  The clips, taken out of context, don't sound that great.  Likewise, I like Corrin as a character, but his voice is my least favorite so far.

EDIT: Wait, that's Rowan speaking.  Ow my ears.  Also, I'm tempted to make a meme of Xander's face at 0:11. . .if I was any good at that sort of thing!

A similar case happened when the English trailers for Persona 5 were first released. A few people initially thought the characters sounded off in the trailers due to out-of-context clips. However, current general consensus is that the dub cast has great, if not amazing, performances. I also hope this is another case.

This is a very minor thing, and I've mentioned it quite a bit, but I think it's pretty interesting how Celica remains in Hidari's style. When all their faces line up at the end of that TGS trailer, her face is noticeably different than everyone elses because of her eyes and such. She sticks out pretty heavily in a sea of Kozaki Yusuke.

Not a complaint, I just thought it was kind of cool.

    The trailer:

Personally feel that Lyn and the Shadow Dragon characters are based off of the artwork of Sachiko Wada and Daisuke Izuka, respectively. Other than that, I agree.

  12. Hello FE fans! After a long time browsing the Forest, I have finally went ahead and made an account. It is nice to be here! :):

A couple things: I was one of those who entered the world of Fire Emblem through Awakening. Since then, I have played Fates, Shadow Dragon, Path of Radiance, Radiant Dawn, and Blazing Blade. I have come to enjoy Path of Radiance because of its characters, lore, and writing (Fun Fact: The editor for Awakening and Echoes worked on Path of Radiance). Also when not in the Forest, you will likely find me on a TV Tropes wiki page doing some small editing and cleanup on Fire Emblem related pages. Hopefully the reason if you ever run into me on that site isn't because I deleted a bad edit you made .

College might keep me busy from this forum (and the the internet in general) for periods of time.

Any who, glad to be here!
