  1. Agreed, hence the second list of stats, which I think present a clearer picture. Spd is, as always, vital, which is why the General's greatest weakness is the fact that nearly every class (Great Knight and Wyvern Lord being the exceptions) can double attack it. It is unfortunate, however, that Griffon Riders get kinda screwed. They're locked into axes and don't have any high stats, making them an inferior choice to the other three flying classes. However, even this imbalance isn't too bad, since the flying classes' overall effectiveness won't be too disparate. Only Swordmasters and Assassins could double attack a Griffon Rider, whereas that list grows substantially longer for Wyvern Lords. Possibly the best part about the class balance in this game, in my mind, is that each character has unique caps. That, and the Pair Up system can patch up any weakness a character might have.
  2. My phone doesn't like this website at all. The point was actually to highlight how well this game is balanced. Units with high Mov tend to have lower combat stats, as is fitting. It's too bad, though, that units which only have access to a single weapon type have the lowest average stats. Postgame, an Assassin would be superior to a Swordmaster, as both would have access to the same skills via class change. I like how Berserkers sacrifice a great deal to hit 50 Str and 44 Spd. Overall, Awakening seems to be far better balanced than, say, Radiant Dawn. In fact, I'd say that FE13 is the best balanced of all.
  3. If I activate Lethality while using Nosferatu/Aversa's Night, will I heal myself?
  4. To begin, let's establish a postgame standard based solely on stats. This assumes infinite class changes to maximize stats and skill combinations. Therefore, the standard will be equal to the sum of the Grandmaster's stat caps, minus HP and Lck, since all standard, promoted classes have identical such caps (80 and 45, respectively). 80 + 40 + 40 + 40 + 40 + 45 + 40 + 40 = 365 Subtract the HP and Lck caps 365 - 80 - 45 = 240 The max stat total--or MST--of the Grandmaster is 240. Let's call this value G. Now let's list each class by MST, bearing in mind that standard, promoted, mounted units have 8 Mov, 2 greater than the 6 Mov of standard, promoted, non-mounted units. Standard classes: Great Lord (M): 236, or G - 4 Great Lord (F): G - 4 Paladin: G - 4 Great Knight: G - 13 (Mag cap of 20 hurts total) General: G + 1 Swordmaster: G - 7 Hero: G - 4 Warrior: G - 5 Berserker: G - 17 Sniper: G - 10 Bow Knight: G - 21 Assassin: G - 15 Trickster: G - 9 Falcon Knight: G - 5 Dark Flier: G - 6 Wyvern Lord: G - 12 Griffon Rider: G - 16 Sage: G - 8 Sorcerer: G - 3 Dark Knight: G - 1 War Monk/Cleric: G Valkyrie: G - 12 Special classes: Dancer: G - 40 Taguel: G - 30 Manakete: G - 15 Star Lord: G - 2 Demon Fighter: G + 3 Bride: G + 4 Overlord: G - 10 Counting Great Lord (M) and (F) as one unit, the average MST of standard, promoted, non-mounted units: G - 6.75 The average MST of standard, promoted, mounted units: G - 10 The average MST of standard, promoted units locked to single weapon types: G -12.5 However, this doesn't portray a terribly accurate picture. If we dispense with relatively useless attacking stats, we get a better average for nearly every class. If physical unit won't be using a magical weapon, such as the Levin Sword, its Mag stat is useless. Of course, this doesn't take Magnificent Flame into account. Units that can't use tomes or staves will have their Mag stats removed from calculation, while units that can't use physical weapons will have their Str stats removed from calculation. Standard classes: Great Lord (M): G + 6 Great Lord (F): G + 6 Paladin: G + 6 Great Knight: G - 3 (Mag cap of 20 no longer matters) General: G + 11 Swordmaster: G - 1 Hero: G + 6 Warrior: G + 5 Berserker: G - 7 Sniper: G Bow Knight: G - 11 Assassin: G - 5 Trickster: G - 9 Falcon Knight: G - 5 Dark Flier: G - 6 Wyvern Lord: G - 2 Griffon Rider: G - 6 Sage: G + 2 Sorcerer: G + 7 Dark Knight: G - 1 War Monk/Cleric: G Valkyrie: G - 2 Special classes: Dancer: G - 30 Taguel: G - 20 Manakete: G - 10 Star Lord: G + 8 Demon Fighter: G + 3 Bride: G + 4 Overlord: G -8 Counting Great Lord (M) and (F) as one unit, the real average MST of standard, promoted, non-mounted units: G + 1.25 The real average MST of standard, promoted, mounted units: G - 3.33 The real average MST of standard, promoted units locked to single weapon types (Swordmaster, Berserker, Sniper, Griffon Rider): G - 3.5 As you can see, despite the overall statistical inferiority of most classes when compared to the Grandmaster, most fellow foot units are, in fact, superior in combat. This does not take Magnificent Flame into account, which would give the Grandmaster a 40% chance to do an additional 20 damage at max level, disregarding best/worst stats and other such modifiers.
  5. Then I presume the Overlord's Mag cap is 25. How interesting.
  6. FE13 Great Lord max stats seem...odd. Specifically, the max Mag of a promoted class shouldn't be capped at 20, should it? http://serenesforest.net/fe13/class_max.html
  7. 1) Can weapons be repaired without using MC Hammerne? 2) Does Weapon Saver affect staves? 3) How early can I forge Nosferatu and Aversa's Night? 4) Does Life Absorb stack with Lightning Speed? 5) Is effectiveness always x3, or is it x2 vs dragon units (like in the Japanese version of FE7)? 6) Which DLC characters can MU marry? 7) Can two Iron Swords with reduced durability be combined into one Iron Sword with greater durability?
  8. Male MU: Tiki, because she seems cool. Also, Manakete. Female MU: Chrom, because he'd pass down Royal Weapon to Morgan.
  9. While min-maxing my Morgan ♀, I came across some discrepancies. I paired Nono with Ronku to get n_n, and paired n_n with MU ♂ to get Morgan ♀. The total stat modifiers are as follows: Nono: Str 1, Mag 1, Skl -1, Spd -2, Lck 1, Def 3, Res 2 Ronku: Str 0, Mag 0, Skl 3, Spd 3, Lck 0, Def -2, Res -2 These add to: Str 1, Mag 1, Skl 2, Spd 1, Lck 1, Def 1, Res 0 Source: http://serenesforest...3/char_max.html Supposedly, these add to: Str 2, Mag 2, Skl 3, Spd 2, Lck 2, Def 2, Res 2 n_n is supposed to inherit the sum of her parents' stat modifiers, with an additional +1 to each. The discrepancy is in the Res stat, which should be +1, not +2, making the actual stat modifiers Str 2, Mag 2, Skl 3, Spd 2, Lck 2, Def 2, Res 1 Source: http://serenesforest...ildren/n_n.html I've checked other units and found similar errors. Pairing Soiree and Sol should give +0 to Res; instead, it gives +1. However, not all pairings give false modifiers. Mariabel x Ronku incorrectly gives +2, rather than +1. Furthermore, Miriel x Sol gives a modifier that's 1 too high. Without checking each individual pairing, it seems safe to say that both Ronku and Sol have incorrect values assigned to their Res modifiers. Note: I didn't check any other stats for errors.
  10. Same here. I'll add what I can but it'll probably be too little, too late.
  11. Looks like I'm the only one to buff DEF at all, let alone at the expense of LCK.
  12. Not I. As a character, he's OK. He has a bit of utility as a thief but is useless in combat. I'd take Volke over him any day.
  13. The most ridiculous unit I've ever had is Marcia in FE9, with her naturally capped Str, Skl, Spd, Def, and Res, with far above avg HP, Mag, and Lck. She is bane of magic users, evidenced by her insistence on critting every magic unit she's ever fought. She is the Random Number Goddess.
  14. Mage ---> Spellmaster Equivalent to a Swordmaster. As a fast, accurate magic user specializing in critting, the Spellmaster is truly a unit to be feared. Class Skill: Arcane Strike. This takes the unit's Skl as a percentage of activation. It negates Res and boosts Crit 50%. Very high Spd, Skill, and Lck, medium Mag, low HP, Def, and Res. Crit bonus equals that of a Swordmaster. Equips Killer tomes. Thanks to the Spellmaster's Class Skill, not even high Res Units like Bishops are safe from this deadly unit. Mage ---> Wyvern Mage A Wyvern Lord crossed with a Sage. Starts with anima and gains dark upon promotion. Replace Str with Mag. High Def, Mag, HP, and Skl make this very effective vs almost all non-magic units. Due to low Res, is weak to magic units, which it can barely dent due to most other magic units' high Res. Class Skill: Life Absorb. This uses the Skl stat for activation rate. Doubles Mag and restores HP equal to damage dealt. The Wyvern Mage also restores HP equal to tome Mt with every attack, regardless of whether or not Life Absorb activates and independent of how much damage is dealt. This makes the Wyvern Mage a prime candidate for Brave tomes. Medium Spd and Lck. Great movement. This is the ultimate Nosferatank. Cleric ---> Valkyrie Yes, I know this promo already exists. However, this time the Valkyrie is a Falcon Knight fused with a Valkyrie. Uses staves to start and gains light magic upon promotion. This unit has high Spd, Res, Lck, and Skl, in addition to great mobility. Medium Mag and HP, low Def. As a healer mounted on a pegasus that can hold its own in a fight, it is invaluable in battle. Class Skill: Invigorate. Whenever the Valkyrie heals an ally, said ally's movement is refreshed (like a Dancer, Bard, or Heron can do). The Valkyrie can also perform two consecutive actions in single turn, but only during the player phase (of course). Priest ---> Chaplain A cross between the Bishop and General, this armored unit has very high Def, Res, and Hp, medium Mag and Skl, low Spd and Lck. This unit uses only staves before and after promotion. The Chaplain is a pacifist, refusing to harm anyone. However, this unit will not hesitate to aid its allies in their quest to slay their enemies. Class Skill: Benefactor. Whenever the player's turn begins, the Chaplain regains HP equal to its Mag + equipped staff Mt. In addition, the Chaplain can "overheal" his allies. Any additional healing that is "wasted" by the use of a staff on an ally is added to the healed unit's HP for one turn. This boost ends at the beginning of the player's next turn. Only one Chaplain may Bless any particular ally for a turn, to prevent the stacking of these bonuses.
