  1. This was originally teased during the February 2023 Direct, with a grown-up Shulk and Rex and a mysterious new character. This is expanded upon here, along with several new characters.

They also announced Amiibo of Noah and Mio…

…along with the release date for Pyra and Mythra, which will be released as a double pack.

  2. The Mario movie is currently on track to potentially make $1 billion before it even sees its Japanese release, so future Nintendo movies seem pretty much inevitable with that much success. So, I wanted to ask you guys: what other Nintendo movie projects do you think are likely or would like to see? For me:

    • Likely: A Zelda movie, since it's Nintendo's other big cash cow.
    • Would like: A Kirby movie loosely based on Kirby's Adventure.

Then why weren't Octoling, Shadow the Hedgehog, and Zack Fair given the Echo treatment?

Octoling I can’t really comment on, but Shadow and Zack weren’t Echoes because I wanted to use Eggman and Sephiroth as DLC, just to make their respective roles as the “second character in a 3rd party franchise who isn’t an Echo” feel more special since they’re two of the most iconic villains in gaming.

  4. In your opinion, what's the "ideal" point in time for your most wanted to be introduced? More accurately, which Smash game feels the most appropriate time in which to introduce them? This has to be a Smash game that already released, from 64 to Ultimate. For me:

    • 64
      • Meowth
    • Melee
      • Scizor
      • Ayumi Tachibana
    • Brawl
      • Totodile
      • Grovyle
    • 3DS / Wii U
      • Rayman
      • Azura
    • Ultimate
      • Bandana Waddle Dee
      • Alph (as an Echo)
      • Crash Bandicoot
      • Estelle Bright
      • Dr. Eggman
  5. Following on from my Melee thread a year back, what if Ultimate had another year, too? Now, I'm not insinuating Ultimate needed another year, like I did with Melee. I moreso wanted to entertain the idea for the sake of a "what-if" scenario. Now, I'm going to lay a few ground rules:

    1. "Everyone is Here!" isn't going away.
    2. The base game will cap off at Fighters #71-75, the same number of fighters in Fighters Pass Vol. 1.
    3. Speaking of, there are still only 2 Fighters Passes, only this time, Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 both have 6 DLC fighters each.
    4. My interpretation strives to be as realistic as possible, but with some self-indulgence. If you have your own interpretation, I'm all for it, but I only ask that you don't get too unrealistic.

    Without further ado:

  6. This was anoher character concept I've been wanting to do, but I didn't want to do it too soon after Noah & Mio. I'm going to write this more straightforward (i.e. won't be going into as much detail with attributes and the like) because that's the kind of way I think.

The character I'm writing about today is Estelle Bright from the Trails series!

    Estelle's moveset

    Spoiler

Intro: Estelle jumps from the sky and twirls her Bo Rod.

Stance/Idle 1: Estelle’s battle stance from the Trails games.
Idle 2: Estelle twirls her Bo Rod once.
Idle 3: Estelle stretches her arms while holding her Bo Rod.

    Notable Palette Swaps:

    1. SC design (default)
    2. FC design (red)
    3. Joshua (black)
    4. Scherezard (purple)
    5. Olivier (white/yellow)
    6. Kloe (blue)
    7. Agate (green)
    8. Loewe (grey)

    Walk: Estelle cheerfully walks forward.
Dash: Estelle runs with her Bo Rod in both hands.
Damage: Her damage animation from the Sky trilogy.
Jump: Estelle pushes her Bo Rod on the ground for her first jump, then twirls around for the second jump.
Crouch: Estelle crouches with her Bo Rod in one hand.

    Normal Attacks
Jab: Pummel; Estelle constantly pummels the enemy with her Bo Rod (1-2% each hit, small knockback), finishing with a horizontal swing (5%, small knockback)
Forward+A: Estelle spins her Bo Rod around (8%, small knockback)
Down+A: Estelle pokes the ground with her Bo Rod, tripping the opponent (7%, small knockback)
Up+A: Estelle pokes her Bo Rod above herself (11%, OK knockback)

    Aerial Attacks
Air+A: Estelle twirls her Bo Rod in front of herself (12%, OK knockback)
Air Forward+A: Estelle swings her Bo Rod forward (13% with a meteor effect, OK knockback)
Air Back + A: Estelle pokes the opponent behind her (10%, small knockback)
Air Up+A: Estelle swats above herself with her Bo Rod (13%, OK knockback)
Air Down+A: Estelle swats below herself with her Bo Rod (13%, OK knockback)

Dash Attack: Estelle does a vaulting jump and swings her Bo Rod downwards (13%, OK knockback)
Edge Attack: Estelle pokes along the ground (8%, small knockback)
Get-Up Attack: Estelle sweeps around herself (7%, small knockback)

    Smash Attacks
Forward+A: Estelle plants her Bo Rod into the ground and holds onto it while performing a horizontal kick (19%, OK knockback)
Up+A: Estelle twirls her Bo Rod above herself (18%, medium knockback)
Down+A: Estelle pokes her Bo Rod on both sides downward (15% each hit, OK knockback)

    Grab Game
Grab: Estelle grabs the opponent by the collar
Pummel: Estelle bonks the enemy with her Bo Rod (2%)
Forwards+Throw: Estelle shoves the opponent with her rear end (7%, small knockback)
Down+Throw: Estelle catches the opponent with her Bo Rod and tosses them to the ground (9%, small knockback)
Back+Throw: Estelle runs behind the opponent and bats them away (9%, OK knockback)
Up+Throw: Estelle kicks the opponent into the air (6%, small knockback)

    Special Moves
B : Comet; Estelle fires a ballistic wave of energy that can be aimed using the control stick.
The normal version fires a spread shot in a somewhat small radius (14%, OK knockback)
The charged version fires an actual comet that goes through multiple opponents (22%, medium knockback)
B + Forwards : Barrage; Estelle performs a somersault forward, then beats the enemy with her Bo Rod.

    • The normal version sees Estelle somersaulting, and then dealing a single hit (13%, OK knockback)
    • The charged version sees Estelle spinning her body while she’s horizontally tilted and hitting opponents multiple times (21%, medium knockback). You can tilt the control stick to influence which direction Estelle goes in while using this attack.

B + Up : Hard Break; Estelle leaps into the air and falls down, using her Bo Rod to attack opponents from above.

    • The normal version has Estelle jump up and use her Bo Rod as a pogo stick, bouncing off either the ground or an opponent (14% with a footstool effect, OK knockback)
    • The charged version has Estelle jump higher (at the cost of less horizontal distance) and deliver a strike that breaks an opponent’s shield, at the cost of not being able to pogo off of anything (23% with a meteor effect, medium knockback)
    • Both versions of the attack can be canceled by tilting up on the control stick after you’ve jumped into the air

B + Down : Hurricane; Estelle twirls her Bo Rod in front of herself and blows away whatever’s in front of her, but can’t protect from behind.

    • The normal version is a twirl that reflects projectiles
    • The charged version is a fierce wind that blows opponents further away, but just as quickly fades out. Any projectiles that come your way will be slowed down and weakened.

Final Smash: Wheel of Time; Estelle spins towards the opponent alongside Joshua (20%). The first opponent hit is taken into a cutscene where Joshua unleashes Phantom Raid, and then Estelle runs around in a vortex as orange lightning rains down from the sky (45%, devastating knockback).

Gimmick: Craft Charge; Each special move has a charge that can be stored for later by holding B, but only one special move can be charged at a time. If you use a special move other than the one that’s charged (which is indicated by what color the orb on the HUD is), you use the normal version of that special move. Pressing Shield before the full charge resets the charging process.

    Craft Colors:
    Red = Neutral Special
    Blue = Side Special
    Yellow = Up Special
    Green = Down Special

In addition, Estelle’s Bo Rod has different levels of power depending on whether she uses a poke attack or a swing attack.

    Taunts
Up: “Come on, we can do this!” Estelle rolls her arm backward twice to boost her teammates’ morale.
Side: “Hey! Pay attention!” Estelle reaches her hand forward.
Down: Estelle makes a face by pulling her eyelid and sticking out her tongue while twirling her Bo Rod.

    Winposes
1: “Piece of cake!” Estelle twirls her Bo Rod and gives a peace sign.
2: Estelle and Joshua do a high five before standing back to back with each other.
3: Estelle twirls her Bo Rod before giving a fist bump into the air.

Applause: Estelle respectfully claps for the winner.
Icon: The emblem of the Bracer Guild
Boxing Ring Title: The Extraordinary Bracer
    Star K.O.: “I’m sorryyyyyy…!”
Victory Music: Victory! (Trails in the Sky)
    Kirby Hat: Estelle’s hair

    Stage: Arseille

    Spoiler

This stage takes place on the Arseille itslef; as in, the whole ship. It's a relatively large stage ideal for 8-player battles. The back is slightly more cramped, as the propellers on the right side damage fighterds unlucky enough to bump into them. On the left side at the front, sometimes the Orbal Cannon will fire, dealing massive damage to anyone in the blast zone. There will also be cameos from:

    • Scherezard
    • Olivier
    • Kloe
    • Agate
    • Zin
    • Tita
    • Anelace
    • Cassius
    • Kevin
    • Loewe
    • Renny

The Battlefield and Ω forms take place on separate platforms floating next to the acutal ship. The above cameos still appear on the Battlefield and Ω forms.

  8. WARNING: This topic contains massive story spoilers for Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Don’t click the any of the spoiler tabs unless you’ve played the game. This has been your warning.

I haven't personally played Xenoblade Chronicles 3, but I do know about plenty of key moments due to my research for Smash. As far as gameplay, the idea I had in this case is Noah & Mio sharing a slot, similar to Pyra & Mythra, but they switch with Shield + B instead of Down + B. So what about how they actually play individually, as well as other Xenoblade 3-related content? That's what we're dipping into right now, with most of their moveset based on an article by Source Gaming.

    Main attributes + alts

    Spoiler

Noah bears some similarities to his predecessor Shulk, but I'm going to be differentiating the two as much as possible. Noah's swordplay is decently swift and disciplined, and his massive Veiled Sword launches targets with ease, but his recovery and aptitude for racking up damage are rather middling. The area where Noah excels the most is making hard reads and ending stocks early, which are where his Blade shines. In truth, the Veiled Sword’s just a sheath for the Lucky Seven, a fierce katana that Noah reluctantly unleashes for his strongest attacks. The weapon’s strikes are fast and powerful, but whiffing them invites punishment. Thus, until the right opportunity presents itself, Noah relies on the Veiled Sword’s impressive reach to play a game of footsies. That being said, he’s only one half of a greater playstyle, so his weaknesses are especially pronounced. Commit too hard, fail to maintain your distance, or find yourself in a tough situation offstage, and Noah might just be the one whose soul needs a sendoff.

Cnversely, Mio serves to draw the enemy’s attention and reliably avoid attacks. To that end, she brawls with a grace and poise more closely resembling Sheik. Her moveset is deceptive and great for starting combos and she has no trouble returning to the stage, but her lighter weight and inability to reliably take stocks can make things difficult in the late game. While Mio's lethality leaves a lot to be desired, don’t underestimate what she can do with her Dual Moonblades. Not only can they offer her attacks a fair bit of disjoint, but they’ll also put some work in as obnoxious projectiles to deal with. All in all, Mio’s a textbook hit-and-run fighter. She’s perfect for weaving in and out of foes’ range, constantly chipping away at them and interrupting their moves, yet her efforts are likely to only bear fruit if Noah can come in and finish the job.

Their respective alts here are going to be unique compared to other fighters. In Xenoblade Chronicles 3, each character can switch classes, which also switches their outfit. For example, Noah can switch to the Medic Gunner and Heavy Gueard classes, which are the default classes of his friends Eunie and Lanz. Mio can switch to the Tactician and Ogre classes, which are the default classes of her firends Taion and Sena. Both characters where the outfits of those respective classes when switching to them, so I figured they would be natural choices for alternate costumes, though for Smash they wouldn't bear any gameplay differences. I also decided to throw in their military uniforms and their no-jacket appearances as alts, too.

    1. Swordfighter & Zephyr outfits (default)
    2. Medic Gunner & Tactician outfits
    3. Heavy Guard & Ogre outfits
    4. Keves & Agnus soldier uniforms
    5. Consul N (Swordfighter gold) & M (Zephyr grey)
    6. Melia (Medic Gunner black) & Nia (Tactician yellow)
    7. Ethel (Heavy Guard grey) & Cammuravi (Ogre orange)
    8. No jackets

The player can also select Mio’s long hair (from Chapter 6 onwards) for any of her alts by pressing the Y on the character select screen.

    Noah's moveset

    Spoiler

Intro: Noah appears from rings of ether energy and summons his weapon.

Stance/Idle 1: Noah grasps his Blade in both hands, bends his knees, and takes a stance loosely resembling Cloud’s.
Idle 2: Noah straightens up, closes his eyes, and holds his sword up close to his face.
Idle 3: Noah holds two fingers to the side of his head, and the Ouroboros symbol appears in his right eye.

Walk: Noah cautiously marches ahead, grasping the Veiled Sword in one hand and keeping its tip lowered.
Dash: Noah, with one hand on his Blade, holds it to one side and runs forward.
Damage: Noah gives a pained expression as his hand briefly releases the Veiled Sword.
Jump: With only one hand grasping his sword, Noah leaps upward, then performs an average frontflip or backflip.
Crouch: Noah takes a knee, rests one hand on the ground, and uses his other hand to keep the sword in front of his upper body.

Forward+A: Noah quickly punches ahead with the scabbard-armored hand
Down+A: Noah stabs Lucky Seven along the ground, launching opponents horizontally
Up+A: Noah thrusts the Veiled Sword upward, covering a wide radius both in front and behind himself

    Aerial Attacks

Back+Throw: Noah rolls behind the opponent, then slashes them with Lucky Seven
Up+Throw: Air Slash; Noah strikes the foe with a rising uppercut from Lucky Seven

    Special Moves
B : Sword Strike; Noah braces himself, then performs a charged turnaround slash with his Veiled Sword by releasing B. If an opponent is hit at the tip, they are crumpled depending on how much damage they have. Noah can save the charge for later.
B + Forwards : Overclock Buster; Noah leaps forward, flips in midair to prepare the Veiled Sword, then falls with increasing speed as he cleaves anything in the way
B + Up : Harmonic Wave; Noah draws Lucky Seven, engulfed in ether particles, and spirals directly upward before slashing downward.
B + Down : Night Breaker; Noah unsheathes Lucky Seven, jumps up and thrusts it towards the ground to release a wave of ether. The closer opponents are, the more damage and knockback it deals.

Final Smash: Limits Unbound; Noah & Mio dash towards the opponent. The first opponent successfully hit is taken into a cutscene where Noah in his Ouroboros form slashes the opponent with two swords, then Mio in her Ouroboros form slashes the opponent with her rings.

    Taunts
Up: “Riku find rare doodad right here!” Riku appears from behind Noah and grabs a piece of machinery off the ground.
Side: “This is our path to the future!” Noah unsheathes Lucky Seven and points it forward.
Down: “Let’s bring it home!” Noah tosses the Veiled Sword into the air, catches it, then swings it to the side.

    Winposes
1: Noah draws Lucky Seven, slashes at the air with it, and then holds it in front of himself.
2: Noah & Mio Interlink and assume Noah’s Ouroboros form
3: Noah & Mio play their respective renditions of A Life Sent On

Applause: Noah & Mio clap for the winner
    Icon: The Xenoblade series icon

Idle 2: Mio crosses her arms for a bit.
Idle 3: Mio briefly perks up after her ears twitch.

Walk: Mio holds one ring in front of herself and advances forward.
Dash: Mio briskly sprints ahead, her arms and Dual Moonblades to her back.

    Stage: Erythia Sea

    Spoiler

There are multiple good choices for a stage from XBC3, but I chose Erythia Sea because I always likes how it looked.

The stage itself would take place on one of the ships you could pilot to travel across the sea. The layout is one the back of the ship, which is facing away from the camera. The ship would occasionally tilt from left to right, and you can swim when the ship's not moving. When the ship is moving, you get pulled in the opposite direction the ship is pointing towards whiel you're in the water. If you hit the bottom of the ship, you get spiked. In a sense, it's similar to the Wuhu Island and Pirate Ship stages.

Also on the ship are Eunie, Taion, Lanz, and Sena, all of whom react to K.O.'s in different ways.
