  1. I think comparisons can sometimes be useful to differntiate themes and how the characters work within the context of their own games but it's important to always keep that context in mind.
  2. Your father joins the dead dads club AYAW your mother being an FE lord but...
  3. 34, 283 (trying to pronounce all that French hurt my brain)
  4. That's kinda hard to judge when their journeys aren't that comparable. Charlotte tries to scam to support her loving parents. Dorothea may have found some success earlier, but her problems stem from the culture of Crest society and a shitty father. There's a lot more to deal with than just financial insecurity.
  5. 100 chickens. The bull is faster and can ohko me. WYR have to clean your teeth with a toothbrush used by a stranger or wear used underwear worn by a stranger?
  6. To be fair, Opera is not easy work and Dorothea did have to survive alone in the streets until she was discovered.
  7. Balthus has a fun dialect and his VA delivers pretty well. I don't remember what he said about Sitri. Wad it Balthus being horny? Cause him wanting Claude's mom is becoming the new meme. He's apparently a major flirt.
  8. This reminds me a lot of the The Last Airbender vs Legend of Korra debates. In the end, it largely became whether you preferred the consistency of ATLA or the high highs and low lows of LoK and I think that concept is applicable here as well. I think Fates had some really good standout concepts, Conquest gameplay is some of my favorite in the series. But the lows like marrying your siblings, throwing children in the baby realm, etc. were really, really low. On the other hand, Three Houses can be sluggish and the School Phase can be very tedious on repeat playthroughs ( you really should be able to skip more of it in NG+), compared to Fates, the characters and narrative flow seemed a lot more consistent, even if imperfect. This doesn't mean Three Houses has its own share of glaring flaws, but as others have said, Three Houses suffers from being unpolished and a possible rushed development cycle while Fates suffers from the themes of Fates directly clashing with how the game was presented, especially when it comes to the sexualization of some of its characters. So even though I don't largely disagree with the points made in the original post, I could even argue Corrin was a better/less polarizing main character than Byleth, I still can't personally call Fates the better game. Even though I enjoyed Fates quite a bit. Shhhh. DA2 is great. Honestly, the worst bit is the reused maps and if Bioware didn't go so hard with the DAI cast, DA2 would have my favorite cast in any Bioware game.
  9. I'm not sure. Personally, I'm not the biggest fan of Byleth's blandness and importance to the story but there is at least some reasoning for their characteristics. Customization is fun, but I'm not sure I could wrap my head around a Byleth that didn't have sword proficiency and a faith budding talent. I'm not as attached to Byleth's authority and brawling strengths but they're new features so it makes sense that the main character has them and the authority strength at least relates Byleth to Jeralt. That being said, Byleth's spell list is garbage. I really like this and the accompanying spell lists as well. If they kept the physical side to Byleth as is and added this it would make Byleth's gameplay a lot more fun. I'm also a sucker for questionnaires that determine some of your battle capability so I think it could work in general, just maybe not completely with Byleth.
  10. As soon as Aelfric mentioned Byleth's mom, I thought 'oh God, he's Snape isn't he?' Turned out to be worse but totally called it. Overall, I waz impressed by the writing. I think 3H could've done better focusing on the lords instead of Byleth so it was nice to see Byleth not be center or center-adjacent. This also helped characterize the Wolves as they depended on and bounced off each other rather than Byleth. I didn't realize this was before Jeralt's death so it is odd that there's a whole subplot about his wife and he doesn't show off at all. It also could've been an opportunity for playable Jeralt! I'm glad we got more of Alois though. Also, there's no way that entire story took place in just one night. When it comes to the characters, Yuri blew me away. The culmination of his voice, design and actions made for a really good lead. And Foul Play saved my ass a lot trying to get poor four-movement Lin to catch up to the rest of the class. It is weird he didn't get a Lineage skill like the otger lords though. Not giving him an Ashe support is criminal. Hapi is another fav. Her characterization is more subtle and she's the quietest of the crew but all of her lines are delivered purposefully and her design is killer. Kinda wish she got supports with Lysithea and or Edelgard to get more context of the experimentation she went through. I would've liked Constance more if we only got indoor Constance. I understand the reasoning for her quirk but I think I would've liked a more righteous anger or a nothing matters persona more than a 'woe is me. I'm worthless' attitude. Her VA did well though. The cadence for outdoor Coco was so stark and slow I couldn't even wait for her to finish talking before I went to the next line. Balthus was fun. Not bad but not great. Had some decent one-liners and wasn't afraid to punch Yuri in the face when he deserved it. Probably has the least depth in the side quest. Hopefully, there's more to him in his supports. His gauntlets really helped with all the Aelfric clones in the last chapter though. The gameplay was fun and the restrictions proved to be a nice challenge compared to main 3H gameplay. I wish they let us forge or replenish gambits between chapters 6 and 7. Cindered Shadows was a fun experience but I'm not sure it's worth the pricetag. It kinda sucks that one of the best written characters and romance options is locked behind a paywall.
  11. Flayn. No contest. WYR 3H only have Edelgard's route or Fates only have Revelations?
  12. Bad question. They're both fantastic.
  13. This. Or have Rey, Finn and Poe be the first blockbuster polyamorous romastorytime.my on: Fire Emblem: Avatar TLA and LoK: Persona: Kingdom Hearts: Steven Universe: My Hero Academia: Noragami: Please anounce season 3 😢 Designated Survivor: My Job: Pay me more. Have better insurance and PTO program. GIVE ME A F*CKIN LUNCH BREAK
  14. Firstly, I'd want an expansion on Cipher. Make it available in the west and maybe promote it enough so there can be events and maybe a championship. If they could release the Cipher art as prints, TCG placemats and maybe mousepads as well would also be nice. I'd kill for an official FE Tarot deck as well. I'd also spend quite a bit of money on FE clothes and accessories, especially jewelery. Seeing as how some clothing companies have partnered with Poketubers, it'd be nice if something similar could be done with the FE community. I've wanted official Digimon Digivices forever so whenever Bandai and Toei wanna get on that, I'm ready.
  15. Finn? Haven't played their games. Would you rather be stuck in a house for 549 hours with Path of Radiance or Awakening as the only game available?
  16. They're all projectile vomitting furballs. AYAW with an army being totally dedicated to you but...
