  1. That's a fair point, and an angle I hadn't considered. I've had my own struggles with anxiety and it seems like the difference here is that the two of just react differently to the way Bernadetta is portrayed; we both relate and empathize, but for me the empathy is overtaken to a degree by how uncomfortable these scenes make me. It's a mild difference in opinion born from a mild difference in perspective. I tend to favor characters that react to stress and trauma by digging in their heels because that's the kind of person I wish I was, which is why I tend to prefer characters like Edelgard and Dorothea, but as I said before I definitely see why someone would look at Bernadetta's character as a whole and decide she's their favorite. You are not the kind of person I'm disparaging in my points about this poll. 😛
  2. I guess I didn't make this clear enough in my original post: there are a lot of legitimate reasons to like Bernadetta. I am personally kind of iffy on her, mostly because of the way her trauma is treated as a gag in every C support, but I don't think she's a truly bad character and am not at all surprised to know that perfectly reasonable people have a different opinion on her. Buuuuut I am deep enough into the anime community to have a pretty cynical view on the minority in Japanese fandom that buys all the merchandise. You can just look at the way idols are treated and how having a relationship can completely ruin your career in that industry because it upsets the otakus so much for this celebrity to no longer be their perfect virginal waifu. And the sad fact is that if you strip out and ignore all the nuance in Bernadetta's character she looks very much like the ideal woman for this type of guy.
  3. Dorothea is one of the most ideal Gremories because she has a strength in both reason and faith and has a powerful 1-use spell on her list in Meteor. I don't think there's any good reason to make her a Dark Knight instead (especially since this isn't a game that's majorly kind to horses).
  4. Half the point of the Arianrhod chapter is to show that Edelgard isn't ready to fight the Slitherers just yet. The fight with Rhea is a better climax for Crimson Flower than fighting Thales would have been. At this point I've largely come around to the idea that saving the Slitherers for the epilogue was the right decision, it would have sacrificed a lot of narrative impact just for the purpose of tying up lose ends.
  5. I'm amused by the fact that such an overwhelming majority of players did Crimson Flower as their first route compared to Silver Snow. Even while making it possible to miss CF people side with Edelgard when they go in blind - that's supported by the fact that she's somehow the only lord to show up on "Most Deployed" rankings in-game (if it was anywhere close to even distribution then Edelgard would be the least likely to make it on that list, Crimson Flower being a half of a third of the possible decisions). Just goes to show that it wasn't necessary to make a coward's route after all.
  6. Bonus round: Where Edelgard and Claude reunify Fodlan, Dimitri just straight up conquers it. The end result is called Faerghus, it's very clear that Adrestia and Leicester are reduced to vassalhood (there's no indication Duscur regains its freedom either). This makes a lot of sense when you recall that Faerghus is repeatedly referred to as a freezing shit hole and that all of the good agricultural land defected to Leicester. Dimitri's "True King" nonsense is absolutely ridiculous. If we follow Dimitri's "war is bad for any reason" philosophy then Dimitri wouldn't be king at all - he'd be Duke Blaiddyd, serving under Edelgard, because the Adrestian Emperor is the only one who can actually claim divine right. Divine right is a farce and Edelgard would slap anyone who would try to make that argument, but the point is that Dimitri does not have a leg to stand on and frankly he should have stepped down as king after the shit he pulls in his route.
  7. "Favorite Class" could mean different things to different people; Mortal Savant likely got a lot of votes because it looks cool rather than any sort of confidence in its power.
  8. Yeah, it's worth remembering that these polls are not indicative of the average fan; they're indicative of the most active minority in Japanese fandom. Whatever other qualities these characters may have, Bernadetta appeals and Dorothea does not for... very clear reasons. Certainly, the fact that the Bernadetta traits these guys like so much are things that were tortured into her is an irony that would be lost on the average otaku.
  9. Of course they know Edelgard commands the Death Knight... When the war starts he's in charge of an Imperial army. Do you need the game to spell everything out for you explicitly?
  10. Crimson Flower is already the one route where one of your active party members will leave and become an enemy. If you're this concerned about repercussions for Edelgard I'd be fascinated to know how you feel about Dimitri abandoning his home for his obsession with vengeance (which is based on a false premise to begin with) and then getting a hero's welcome when he's finally sad enough to do the thing he was supposed to do in the first place.
  11. Nobody said anything about her following blindly. You clearly think there's zero justification for Edelgard fighting against the church so of course you're not going to accept why some might think otherwise.
  12. My suggestion for an alternative chapter 11 for Crimson Flower:
  13. Honestly if you're only using top tier units in Sacred Stones what the hell are you doing It's the easiest game in the entire damn series, using Amelia or Marisa isn't gonna make the game that much harder
  14. Outside of some odd edge cases recruiting earlier is always going to be better than recruiting later. You miss out on a lot of weapon/class xp by waiting.
  15. Honestly, the GBA Fighters are a pretty good comparison but not for the reasons Mir thinks. Bartre sucks because he has low skill and speed, give him a high accuracy weapon that lets him double regardless of his speed stat and suddenly he starts to look a lot better.
  16. Fates wasn't rushed, Fates was a bad game. Three Houses was rushed in the sense that IntSys were incredibly ambitious with this project to the point that after multiple delays Nintendo had to set a deadline and they had to wrap up the work whether it was truly done or not. I doubt the gauntlets thing has anything to do with it, though, given that all of the casting classes that they expect to use weapons can use gauntlets.
  17. There are few people in the story that Dorothea is better friends with than Edelgard; hell, Hubert is the one male character Dorothea isn't initially hostile towards in their supports. If hating war is going to be why Dorothea drops out of Crimson Flower she wouldn't participate in any of the other routes either. Edelgard makes it abundantly clear she intends to restore Brigid's independence and is not herself responsible for the decision to take Petra away. I think Petra's a character that makes sense on any route simply because the most important thing for her is to be with the winners.
  18. Majority still isn't "every rep" like in Smash. If a Fire Emblem fighting game were to come out right now then we'd be basically guaranteed to have one non-sword at launch since they'd include at least one of Edelgard and Dimitri.
  19. Maybe in a Fire Emblem specific fighting game we'd be able to get some playable characters that don't use a damn sword.
  20. Might want to consider the Bolt Axe Wyvern Lord route with that Annette lol
  21. I do actually think at least Rhea was intended to be playable at some point, though if that's the case then I suspect that was prior to mashing Silver Snow and Verdant Wind together to save time. As Lightchao said, the plot relies on these three characters not being playable.
  22. I'm pretty sure we're getting Jeritza for free because he was supposed to be a main game Crimson Flower character that wasn't finished for launch - you get him instead of Seteth, basically. I wouldn't bank on any additional free characters.
