  1. Erm, the time lock on supports is super important for making supports that actually interact with the narrative. Every support that talks about the war would have to be rewritten if it was possible to unlock them during the academy phase. I'll definitely agree on the issues with Explore, though. Maybe it'll be better with the additional activities we're getting later on but I kinda doubt it - even if we get some new things to compete with eating a half dozen dinners that's not gonna change that clicking through these menus is about as engaging as your average Facebook game. It's a good thing it's quick and easy to burn through your activity points, the only reason it isn't hurting my opinion of the game too much is (as you said) how easy it is to blitz through it.
  2. The first route split isn't super important other than determining if you get a dancer or a bard, but the second one you might want to be careful on - Sacae is generally considered to be the more difficult way to go by a wide margin. Chances are you'll end up in Ilia just because it's more likely for you to use both of the Pegasus Knights than you are to use both Nomads, but something to keep in mind (and hey, maybe you want horse archers on open plains rammed up your butt).
  3. Geoffrey's just the official, public marriage. Elincia's real lover is Lucia (Only somewhat joking here. "Their love was fabled to be stronger than even most blood sisters" indeed.)
  4. Forgetting that Wyvern Lord exists, basically. Movement issues aside Emperor is a fine class and Edelgard doesn't have other amazing axe choices anyways since she can't be a War Master, it's just that Wyvern Lord is so nuts that nothing can possibly compete with it.
  5. Seteth and Hubert both did a great job with this role, IMO. It's especially tasty because, inevitably, one of them will be proven right in their distrust. Using traditional Mary Sue-isms for actually good narrative purposes is an unusual thing that Three Houses does pretty well I think. For me the main character I turned around on is Ferdinand; the movement of my perception was basically identical to Dorothea's.
  6. With your experience level FE8 is gonna feel piss easy even if you go right into Hard mode blind - there's exactly one difficult map in the entire game and even that isn't all that hard if you're abusing Seth. I'd recommend FE7 just because I think it's a better game with more interesting characters than FE6 but playing both of them would be a perfectly reasonable idea.
  7. Good idea, poor execution. There are several possible solutions to this that have already been mentioned in this thread and with one of them implemented it would be a marked improvement over the old tome system.
  8. Death Knight suffers from being readily defeatable early on, honestly. At this point he's better known for being an easy target for Lysithea than anything else
  9. GD->BE->BL->Church is the order that'll prevent you from playing the "same" route twice in a row. Black Eagles and church share the same act one as you'd expect, while Golden Deer and church have practically the same act two with only some differences.
  10. There are boss conversations for Felix and Annette on Azure Moon you can find in the game files. It seems they were originally intended to leave your party at some point, perhaps if you didn't get a high enough support ranking with them.
  11. Can't copyright game mechanics, to my understanding. Would be a pretty horrific rabbit hole if you could (imagine if someone could trademark the concept of dodge rolling).
  12. If you're worried about getting burned out, you're probably gonna get burned out. There are other games to play while you wait until you're excited for this one again.
  13. Oh dang it's real Looks like we've already missed the deadline for the full 12 months but you can still get 9 months for free with a deadline all the way into Jan 2020.
  14. There is absolutely nothing wrong with resetting when you make a mistake in the games with perma-death; there is also absolutely nothing wrong with deciding you can go on without that unit. It really just comes down to how much you value that character, whether it's because you've invested a lot of XP in them or because you really like them and it would make the game less fun to go without them. Iron Man is a self-imposed restriction that people do specifically to make the game harder, it's not considered the "right" way to play the game. One word of advice I'd give is that Fire Emblem outside of the higher difficulty settings isn't difficult, but it is punishing. The most important skill for these types of games is risk assessment - you have to stop and think about what the worst thing that could happen if you make this move would be, what the odds of that happening are, and if there are better choices available. There are usually a lot of winning options you can take but the game can feel very difficult and frustrating because taking one of the incorrect options will make things go south EXTREMELY quickly. Focus on learning how to play safe first, if you try to play efficiently before you understand that concept you're just gonna end up dying a lot.
  15. I'm pretty sure Alois and Gilbert aren't supposed to be gay support options in the same way that Linhardt, Dorothea, etc. are; don't you end up marrying a spouse of the opposite sex in that ending? It's supposed to be a platonic, congratulations-you're-adopted ending which just makes it real weird that it involves you giving the man a ring. Obviously there should have been more mlm endings. Though I also think there should have been way less straight endings so who cares what I think
  16. Don't forget Sothe, who has a version of Aptitude that penalizes his xp gains. Ultimately this concept is just the same deal as the Est archetype, except doubled down on and you don't get even get a cute girl for it so what's the point
  17. ITT the catholic church had no authority over medieval Europe because it didn't hold territory
  18. That's... a fair point actually. I half-wonder if it's just a product of confused design goals by the dev team. Ferdinand for example has several endings that, as you say, make it clear he inherits the title of Duke of Aegir, but his ending with Edelgard makes no mention of his title or lands and the bit about their children at the end frankly doesn't make any sense in a scenario where they're going to inherit noble privileges.

I'll give you one guess on what my least favorite FE games are.
  20. It's not Kostas that's lying in this theory, it's Edelgard. If she had told Kostas what she really wanted him to do and Kostas gets captured and spills the beans then suddenly there is a LOT of suspicion dropped on Jeritza as the person who would have most benefited from Edelgard's plan. It's far better for Edelgard for Kostas to believe he's supposed to kill everyone since it means the teacher just looks like collateral damage.
  21. I mean, Edelgard's father attempted to implement reforms that would reduce the power of the nobility and he got the Insurrection of the Seven for it. So.
  22. The DLC just being more Crimson Flower chapters would piss so many people off. I love it
  23. This is a really interesting idea - the whole thing with Kostas always struck me as strange because it seems to be a pretty massive risk for minimal reward. Taken at face value there's no reason why Edelgard would believe she'd survive that encounter and the other two would die (in fact, if Jeralt and Byleth hadn't shown up it likely would have been Dimitri and Edelgard who died and Claude would escape). If she knew Jeralt was there to save them and her goal was something that would be accomplished anyways then that makes a lot more sense.
