Well after spending way too much than I care to admit this past week on the DC banner, and then using ~120 orbs last night on the Altina banner and only getting 2x Julia on my last summon I was feeling pretty bummed. Well I decided to grab the Roy black friday packs because I'm a newer player and don't have either of the free units so I figure it's a good deal. Well, I'm glad I did because on my first summon after re-stocking orbs, I GOT HER 😁 And she's +Atk -Spd. Just about perfect, no? I'm thrilled

Well, I quickly burned through ~100 orbs last night, mostly sniping on red since I don't have any of the focus units and Altina looks awesome. Didn't get any 5*, got my rate up to 10%, and of course my last session didn't have any red to choose from 🤬 So this was my result Now it's not the end of the world, because she was one of the top units I wanted from this banner, but of course they both have the same IV (+HP -Res). 😣

I don't know if you saw that one of the Black Friday orb packs includes a free W!Tharja. So I could have instant CC for Cecilia if I wanted to. Problem is, it's a Tharja that I don't have yet, and I'd really like to keep her. Ugg, why does this game have to be so difficult sometimes? 😆 But if I did get W!Cecilia, what kinds of builds are recommended?

Based on rank? Tier you're currently in? If so, it kept putting me against units one tier higher just about every match. Granted, I was on the bubble between 16 & 17, but still. I think the system should take into account the units you have setup in your raiding parties menu kinda like it does in Arena. I guess the 100 lift thing makes sense, because after my last match it bumped me up into Tier 17 and most if not all of my recent opponents have been Tier 17 while I was still 16. I still think the unit strength should be considered on some level. Oh well. Anyway, after a horrid few days of loss after loss, it was nice to run into one of those players that just doesn't care about defense and runs a theme team. I guess he has a thing for female swordmasters? It was nice because I could run my team with the bonus unit and get max lift. Tharja didn't even break a sweat 😜 I've got 175 grails saved up. I was thinking about getting a unit that might be useful in AR, either offense or defense. I've read that W!Cecilia can be decent. Would she be useful with minimal investment to start? Or does she really require CC and other rare skills to be effective at all? Are there any other grail units to look at, or should I not bother and just get another merge for Aversa?

Yeah, I guess that's true. But I'd definitely trade 2 of those for just 1 DC/Null C-D combo 😉

Uggg. So even though I know I should be saving for the Mythic banner (Altina looks awesome 😲) , more distant counter fodder is just too good to pass up. I've already spent way too much on it as is, but I've gotten 2 Bytleth's, 2 Nagi's, and only 1 Nailah. Since I don't really like to fodder off my only copy of a unit I really wanted to get another Nailah because Null C-Disrupt is so good on a DC user. So I snipe a bit of blue, and I get pity broken by Quan. Again. I was pity broken by him a few days ago too. WTF? There are dozens of blue 5* units I'd be happy with, but why Quan? Twice? He doesn't even have any good fodder. And the best part? They're BOTH -Atk. The Gatcha Gods must really hate me 😞

I'm so sick of the match making in AR. I lost both my matches today and used up my ladder. Tell me why, when the only merged unit I have in any of my raiding parties is Tharja+3, my last opponent had every unit merged up at least that high and three of them were +10. Oh, and his fortress was 2 levels higher than mine. And he was one tier higher than me. There must be thousands of players in my tier, why can't it pair me up with one of them? On top of that, his map layout was completely open and he was running all cavs and flyers, so there wasn't much I could do as far as positioning. I was able to get one kill because Tharja buffed by Azura is a monster, but then he wiped all my units off the map next round. I enjoy a challenge, but it's just not fun when it's a totally unfair fight from the beginning.

Thanks for the info. I won't do anything just yet. The only units I have with high HP you guys mentioned are Ninian and Silvia. And Silvia is only 4*+5 because when I first started the game I kept reading how it makes sense for dancers to stay at 4* merges because they won't see much combat. I've decided to stop doing that going forward, but now my Silva and Olivia are stuck at 4*+ and I don't really want to promote them and lose all the merges at this point. But I have started to invest in Ninian a bit, so if I do decide to start using IP, I'll keep her in mind.

After playing the game for a bit over 2 months, I got my first 5* with a free summon ticket! Dorcas is now home 😁 I feel lucky because I specifically picked green because Dorcas was the only unit on the banner I didn't have yet. So it was 50/50 that if I got a 5* at all it could have been Hawkeye. I usually have such bad gatcha luck, that this felt really good (until I checked his IV. -Atk +Spd. The absolute worst he could have. Uggg, oh well. Still happy. Kind of... 🙄)

Cool. I've seen a bunch of his unit analysis videos, they're pretty good. Don't remember if I saw his staff cav one, so I'll check it out tomorrow. I'm not super concerned with stat spreads, unless one unit is so obviously better than another. If they're close enough to be similar, I'll go with the character I like better. Priscilla has decent design/art and her voice actor doesn't annoy me like some units do (Peri, I'm looking at you) 😝 Also, for the first time since I started playing, I pulled a 5* with my free summon ticket tonight! I got Dorcas and it's cool because I don't have him yet. Although the absolute worst IV he could have. -Atk +Spd. Yuck. It looks like Infantry Pulse is a cool skill and has use in AR? Should I integrate him into some of my raiding parties? I don't like to fodder off my only copy of a unit (I did it once with Takumi though), but if I did end up foddering him down the line what kinds of units would it be good for?

OK, that makes sense. I guess I'm impatient, lol. Might not be the best fit for this game as it seems to have a lot of long term goals, but it is what it is 😁 I'm glad you pointed that out, because Witchy Wand does make more sense on Priscilla over either the Brave staffers. I still haven't even upgraded my Priscilla to 5* yet though, just been sidetracked doing other units first. I will wait a bit, but does it make sense to save both the Mia and Camilla fodder to give the Wand and Wrathful staff to Priscilla? That will allow me to do the Dazzle refine on the Wand so that way she'll have the increased power along with the counterattack prevention, right? Anyway, today was a good day. Won both my matches and only lost one unit between the both of them. I still need to work on my team comps though. Baby steps I guess

Yeah, I definitely look for dragon/armor effective weapons before deploying. And speaking of Witchy Wand, I was lucky enough to pull 2 copies of H!Mia last month. I really like her, but I haven't merged her yet. I don't often use her in AR because I think either my B!Camilla or B!Veronica are stronger staff units. But Witchy Wand does seem like it would be useful in AR. So if I was gonna fodder off one of my copies, who should get the wand? I was thinking about giving it to Camilla, as that would also let me give her Hone Fliers at the same time. I also pulled a second copy of Camilla recently so I could start merging her, or would it be better to fodder off that copy to another healer (thinking about building Priscilla) for Wrathful Staff? What's the smart play here?

Thanks, I think I'll switch to tap from now on. Good to know about Nagi. Ophelia always seems to wreck me, so it will be nice to have a real counter to her. And I'll have my own F!Tiki right along side Nagi on that particular team to help out with a F!tiki if they have one. I've put Vantage on my Tiki and it seems to work well on her.

Do you guys play with Confirm Action in the settings set to "Auto" or "Tap"? When I first started playing, I set it to "Tap" until I got used to the flow of the game, now it's always on "Auto". Well today it bit me in the ass somehow. After a string of 3-4 straight losses, not helped by the fact that almost everyone has a 3 point Fortress advantage over me, I came across an opponent that looked like an even match-up. I fielded a team that I thought had a chance and preceded to meticulously work my way up the right hand side of the map, snipping the bolt tower and getting everyone in position. It was time to make my move, Byleth leading the charge to take out Sothis. The combat forecast showed in my favor, ready to strike with Alm coming in from behind. And then Byleth just stood in front of Sothis, his turn ended with doing nothing. I just got "fat fingered", and now the match is surely lost. And yep, Byleth gets taken out immediately on enemy phase, and at that point everything fell apart. I was able to take out a few enemies, at least letting me know that my unit match-up estimations are getting better, but it still hurts after winning almost no matches this season to lose again in this manner. Uggg. One bit of good news after the match. To maybe make myself feel better after the loss, I figured I'd throw some orbs at a summon looking for some more DC fodder. After two garbage blue picks, the last green orb reveled a Nagi (+Atk -HP😁) So now after a bit over 200 orbs, I've summoned one of each of the distant counter heroes. Them problem is, after training them up and using them for a bit, I found I really like Byleth & Nailah. I'm sure the same will be said for Nagi. I originally wanted them for fodder, but now I'm not so sure. Does Nagi have a use in AR? Seems like an excellent answer to F!Tiki. Anyway, I have 6 more days to try and get some DC fodder I guess. "Ouch" says my wallet....

So If I used Caineghis as my tank, would the rest of the team work with Velouria, Galeforcer (Mareeta or Cordelia now, but will be making others soon as I can afford), Dancer (Reyson or L!Azura), & Eir? Is Naesala effective with Galeforce? I figure keeping this team mostly beasts would benefit them all and keep them transformed. I have enough grails right now to grab at least one copy of him. Would this team be viable for AR now, or is it a waste of resources?

So last night I got excited about the new focus banner because as a newer player I never got a free Brave Lyn and Hector because, well he's Hector (and that sweet DC fodder 😉). Anyway, I spent around 35 orbs, and didn't get either. No surprise, but I did pull a Velouria. How can I use her in AR? Should I build a team with her, Caineghis, & Reyson? What kind of build should I give her and Caineghis? Keep in mind I don't have any DC fodder, so I can't make her a vantage sweeper. But what about some kind of support for Caineghis?

Thanks @LordFrigid, you gave me a good direction to start. I've tried using Caineghis before without much success, but I'm sure I wasn't using him right. I'll try again with your suggestions. I'll also level Norne up and see how I like her and if she's worth 5*ing. I've thought about building Titania up already, as I think I need more cav options in general. I've heard Seth is a little better (cheaper to build because of the Spd refine), but I honestly like Titania much better as a character. Plus she'll be supporting Tharja so she might be able to help out against any blue threats. As for a Galeforce cav unit, how does Eliwood compare to Oscar? Again, I like Eliwood better, but is he less effective than Oscar or more expensive to build? Brave Ike seems cool too, I'll play with him more once I can afford his refine. And I'm hoping to score a few extra DC units for fodder in the upcoming banner ( although my gatcha luck kinda sucks 🙁 ). Also, last night I stupidly threw two summons on the Desert Mercenaries banner because I still really want to try Duo Ephraim. I didn't pull him, but I did get a slightly better Nowi (+Spd -HP) than what I have now, do you think it's a good idea to start building her as my Omega Tank? Or is Caineghis still a better option for that role? And is it worth the feathers to give Cordelia a Firesweep lance since I've already got her as a Galeforece unit?

OK, I have enough stones now to build a panic manor (thanks @Kuroi Tsubasa Tenshi!), but should I? Since I keep losing more than not this week, should I save the stones for something else? Or is Panic Manor useful to have anyway? Next weeks bonus structure is the Catapult which I do have so I'm good there. Do I build the Panic Manor now, and see if it helps me out in the next few days?

Thanks for the suggestions. I don't have a cav Galeforcer yet, but I will probably promote Eliwood once I can afford to do it along with giving him Galeforce. I can't stand Peri, lol. The only other Galeforcers I have are Cordelia and Cherche, so that will be too many fliers. I do have quite a few infantry dancers though so I can switch that up if needed. I'll see what I can do about a cav healer soon as well. Also, I just spent the last hour entering all my units into FEH Keeper. It's a pretty handy site, we'll see how diligent I am about updating it when I make changes 😋 I haven't entered my combat manuals yet. So if anybody wants to take a look at my roster, and steer me in the right direction as far as AR team comps or unit upgrades/SI, I would really appreciate it. Thanks Click to see my barracks!

Thanks for the info. Yeah, I haven't been checking the opponents fortress levels but I think you may be right and that's why many teams I fight seem to be so much stronger than me. I don't have a panic manor yet so I can' use a bonus structure this week. I'm literally 3 stones short of being able to build it right now. Ugggg I didn't know that information about Fallen Corrin, that's good to know for the future. Not knowing the intricacies of various units is just down to my inexperience as a player I guess (especially if I don't have said unit in my barracks). Thanks for the link to my barrack post, that's helpful until I get my updated list typed up. I really wish the game had some sort of export option. That would be awesome. They also should allow unit trading with your friends list. That would be amazing. But I guess they'd never do it because it would drastically cut into their orb revenue I assume, lol

Thanks. I will remove Forsyth from most teams. Maybe leave him in one team for now since he's the best bonus unit I have at the moment in case I come across a fairly easy opponent. What type match ups should I be looking for when I can use him? Thanks for the info about Mareeta, I didn't realize QP wasn't optimal for her. Because of her built in FB4 I should be stacking as much speed on her, right? It's a shame about Tharja's IVs, I recent mad a few combat manuals out of her because I was running out of barrack space during the recent Legendary Banner. I know I had a +Atk one 😕 I'll keep a look out for another and merge into a +Atk one. And aquiring dew is so slow, but I will refine again when I can... The only 5* cav healer I have is Brave Veronica. Should I inherit a different staff onto her? Other 5* healers I have are H!Mia, Loki, and Brave Camilla (I have two of her, but I haven't merged yet. Wasn't sure if she was worth saving for fodder). Other cav healers I have are 3* Priscilla (+HP -Spd) & 4* Clarine (+Spd -HP)

Well, my first battle in T15 ended in horrible defeat. Can you take a look at this team and let me know who I should have fielded instead? Even though this guy had a few armors, it looks like he knew what he was doing. They all had sky high def and res, and the ranged units all has Close Def and melee had Distant Def. My Aversa (with Axebreaker equipped) could only do 20 damage to Surtur on first initiation, then 0 on the second because of his defensive special. Tharja also did 0 damage to anybody even with a stats +6 from L!Azura. Forsyth was able to kill Fjorm, but when he attacked Fallen Corrin he left her with 3hp and she was able to kill him next phase. Even with 3hp, Tharja, Eir, Aversa, or Azura were unable to kill her (I think Eir got her down to 1hp). This guy was also T15, but are his units so much better than mine because he's been playing longer, or spends a lot more money than me? IDK? Looking at his team ahead of time, I wasn't sure who I should bring to face him. Here's the other team I was thinking of using, let me know if it would have been a better choice EIR, REYSON (WoM), F!TIKI, L!ALM (FB1 SEAL), FORSYTH (QR3 SEAL) And here's all my other teams, I'm still not clear on what counters I should have in the different teams and what to look for. Which of these would have been better against this guy? EIR, L!AZURA (WoM), THARJA (CC/VANTAGE), MAREETA (GALEFORCE/QP SEAL), FORSYTH (QR3 SEAL) EIR, L!AZURA (WoM), THARJA (CC/VANTAGE), AVERSA, FORSYTH (QR3 SEAL) <--This is the team I used EIR, L!AZURA (WoM), THARJA (CC/VANTAGE), M!CORRIN (YATO REFINE SUPPORTED w/THARJA), FORSYTH (QR3 SEAL) EIR, L!AZURA (WoM), MAREETA (GALEFORCE/QP SEAL), H!MIA (WoM, have both refines, not sure which is better), FORSYTH (QR3 SEAL) I of course expect to lose, a lot. It just frustrating when I get shut down so hard and I want to learn from it Also, when it was clear there was nothing I could do, I just ran around and broke both pots then parked in front of his units so they could kill me. Is that any better or worse than if I just hit the surrender button?

After stringing together 3 wins in a row today, I hit T15 😁 To everybody who put up with my newb questions and gave me advice, me and my new Brave Ike thank you 😉 I have a looong way to go, but I'll get there. What's the next AR milestone I should shoot for?
