  1. Nonono, you misunderstand, I'm not a good person, I just prefer Flying. Two years ago? Don't make me do it, I tried my hand at it a while back and it literally melts my brain. It's not as accessible as FEBuilder... Lula. How? Dynamax is a flat, massive boost to HP that prevents forced switch-outs, generally increases offensive capabilities, buffs the user or debuffs the opponent while doing huge damage, and has no actual counters or any downsides at all, other than Choice items being disabled. Unless you're Shedinja or quad-weak, you can essentially guarantee living a hit while buffing yourself up, either making yourself stronger or the other 'mon weaker. Literally the only reason not to dynamax is because you only can do it once, so it's just about choosing the right time to pick the "kill everything" button- The only strategy is timing. Terastillization does little aside from change type and increase STAB, and therefore has a lot of counters. Yes, you're right, because considering your pokemon's tera-type and your options against the other team, the drawbacks of the new type and losing your old one, as well as which of your pokemon can most effectively use their tera type and choosing the correct option at the correct is not strategy, it's just luck. This isn't infalliable, though- Retains a weakness to Fighting, and there are a lot of pokemon that can bring that to the table; Slither Wing, for example, can pretty safely dispatch of Hydreigon, as can pretty much any fighting type with Close Combat, or even Barraskewda, to say nothing of the potential of tera'd fighting types. Or OU pokemon, if Hydreigon's being played up there. Shouldn't that be part of the strategy of the game, then? Adaptability should be a key part of any team looking to overpower tera-types. Plus, there are just bad tera types to do- I've won and lost games because of my own tera typing. And again, there are quite a few really darned good Unaware pokemon that can counter pokemon that set up if need be. You wanna know what's really OP, though? Rotom-Wash, the thing needs to be executed ASAP. I hate it. Kinda lame IMO, but it's definitely a better compromise than outright banning the thing making Gen 9 cool and would still retain a lot of the diversity. Why Chi-Yu? In my experience, it wasn't that crazy good. ...Actually, I guess it'd suck to deal with if it's scarfed.
  2. The pinnacle of anti-dragon. Er... I'm switching to Flying, though. I'll be posting my gyms later, once I'm not at work. Good news for @Green06! (btw, 06, thanks for your write-up on Brazil a while back! I forgot to reply 'cause things've been berserk for me lately)
  3. Dibs on Ice! Er... Or if Dad takes it, dibs on fairy type. Dang... Can I at least have Avalugg and Cetitan, Dad?
  4. No worries! ...Er, does that mean I should wait to continue our discussion later?
  5. My abuelita's really good at making it too! Hey, it's only 8,178 kilomters from Madrid to here, it's not that bad! Also, obligatory Something really boring, because I woke up in the just before midnight and remembered that the quote was due at midnight, so I half-asleep put something down. I think it was "May all your days be slay" or something like that. My son is based and likes Bayleef. Meganium better though. My son is not based and dislikes the Dumper Duck. My son is based and dislikes Blastoise. I love Cetitan, but I've just never managed to get it to do anything for me.. How dare you, Meganium and Bayleef are based! Avalugg my beloved.
  6. Haha yes, that's definitely exatly what I meant haha Yes, but *I* didn't have the Masochist ability. Oh my indeed. Every time I see this image as I scroll past, I see the bi flag. Why in Shrimp's name is the picture for this thread just Benice?
  7. Dang... I can't believe I'm not the first masochist to be in a video game. The relatable hero I've always needed but never deserved. Libido conquers all. Dammit that should have been my yearbook quote.
  8. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I could see it both times, on mobile and computer. ...Weird.
  9. One of my friends is basically Peri, but he doesn't actually kill people. ...And he's also real smart. I'll add you to the inheritance once you get a 100 on 24-Hour Cinderella. Nooo I'd be an even worse lord than Roy both in gameplay and character Plus I'd have a skill that boosts my stats when I take damage because... hehe... I die at the start and Sooks leaves on an adventure to find the "Yakuza 0" and "Squid mom" his father rambled on about.
  10. Welcome to the forest! We hope that you'll have a great day and that you'll enjoy your stay.
  11. Sommie is a must-plush, in my opinion. He's already got more-or-less the right shape for it...
  12. Ooh, a hate fest? There is nothing good about Benice. NOTHING
  13. Welcome! I think you're the only one in this discussion that knows anything about YGO. ...Or maybe I'm the only one who doesn't, but I don't get the comparisons. And I would argue that Terastillization allows diversification for this. For the record, I agree with you on those strats being uncompetitive, because yeah, they just make the game extremely dull- I started Showdown after the Assist thing was banned, but Baton Pass sucks to deal with too. I don't see your overall point, though, since Terastillization has a lot of counters from a lot of Pokemon. This. Some strats are not fun because they reduce the game to countering a single meta strategy that really can't be overcome properly, or are just really frustrating because no amount of skill actually does anything to stop them. I don't think this is the case for tera-typing, since there are quite a few counters to everything (except Shedinja, it seems), and it does not reduce the game to a single meta strategy or team: I do just fine in OU with my team that's using five RU 'mons and one UU 'mon, and I've never been walled by any tera-type at this point. Slay If you need one, I do have a bunch on my computer I can send! 'Morning!
  14. Wraith, I think you're taking the phrase "Repetition Legitimizes" a little too seriously.
  15. Other in-party candidates, since IIRC Brazil's also basically a two-main-parties system the same way Canada is, with a bunch of small, weaker parties surrounding the two big ones.
  16. Out of curiosity, why did they let Lula run again? Surely after the corruption scandal, he'd be a lesser option than whoever the other candidate would be... Or, why go through the rigamarole of getting Lula exonerated for something he definitely did so that he could run again? Dang... I was hoping that it was just here in NA that political extremism was on the rise.
  17. The number of churches in East Timor increased from 100 to 800 in a span of 20 years. Considering that its second-largest city presently has a population of 17,000, that's a lot of churches.
  18. Is likely excited to mash square to slap ass in a month and a half.
  19. I don't have time to reply to this right now because I'm at school, but please do ping me later so that I remember to. The one thing uniting our family of the sea is the agreement that Timerra is best. Huh, didn't know that. I guess I'm just used to NA, where literally everybody is called a communist for absolutely no reason.
  20. Banned for Moon tiara Dagger Magic
  21. Story- It'll probably be pretty generic, but I can definitely live with that after Three Houses and Fates being... Something. As long as it's fun, I'm all for it- It looks like it'll be flavourful in its genericness, and I love Mad Alear already. It's also only one route, so PRAISE BE TO WHOEVER DECIDED THAT Characters- From what I've heard, there's less of an emphasis on characters this time? Regardless, I've got reasonably high hopes for most of the cast, and I really like a lot of the designs much more than I expected to. Same as with the story, I just hope they're fun, rather than anything else. I'm so very happy to have fewer supports too, so hopefully the ones we do have will be pretty good. Gameplay- Hyped for this, not gonna lie. It's been a very long time since I've played an SRPG, and... Well, from the sounds of it, I might just have to pick this up on the strength of this alone. I'm really hoping that the game is more balanced than TH, since even though I don't mind a bit of brokenness in terms of balance, a break from it would be very nice, especially on the upper difficulties. My only other hope is that it's ironmannable, but that's low-ish priority. Overall, I'm really excited for Engage, between its flamboyant designs, beautiful battle animations, seemingly really cool high fantasy setting, diverse cast, and reportedly good gameplay. And also Sommie, they make the game a 10/10 pre-release.
  22. Power isn't a legal construct- If you took a group of ten completely random people and put them in a group in the wilderness, a chain of authority would almost certainly form even without anything strictly binding them to form a group that way. Societies and authority are formed naturally in human groups. A good example of this is the Milgram experiment. The researcher has absolutely no legal power, and yet their influence, their power, is immense by virtue of their position. The Milgram experiment also shows how important it is to build a society which is "good" because of how dangerous normal people are when they are in a society or setting which is "evil". That's part of why I think authority is important, since it allows us to try to build a society which is good. Society will build itself regardless if we leave it be, so using a position with power to create a more positive life is important to me. When you have power, you have power over people: That's much of what power is, whether it's on the scale of a popular kid at school, a CEO of a large company, or a civil rights activist. To take a famous example, the Montgomery Bus Boycott was using a force gathered behind a cause and a charismatic leader to change the law and the order of society. The Rwandan genocide was also using a force gathered behind a cause and charismatic leaders- a prominent one being a radio station, Libre des Milles Collines*^, to change the order of a society. Both situations rely on mass support in order to enact change, and the fact that they enacted the change through different channels doesn't change that their power was the people supporting them. This is generally the same in non-democratic settings, but with the addition that it's more about who supports you (I.E. the military or anyone with guns) than how many support you. If you hold sway over someone, you have power. The more people you hold sway over, the more power. Corporate power is different though, and a mighty amen to large corporations needing to be held responsible for what they do. *This one was secretly and indirectly government funded, but the idea of a non-governmental body being used to incite change remains the same. ^Sounds scarily like some North American news stations and podcasts, doesn't it? I mean, there is a reason a political compass exists; I don't expect you ever to shift to exactly where I am on it, nor would I really want you to, since diversity of thought is really important for a healthy society, and your life experience is probably very different from mine, unless you're horny all the time and talk about music too much while also being bad at music, and also suck at math and dislike 1984. For me, I believe that authority enables change: Apartheid ended because of Mandela's great power, Brazil was advanced 50 years in 5 years by Kubitschek's power, so on and so forth. The honest truth is, though, that there isn't a singular correct answer: Point to just about anywhere on a political compass, and you can find people, leaders, countries, cultures, that have done well with that spot, and likely about as many that suffered on that spot. I'm quite the leftist, but even though I really sympathize with communism, I have to admit that Venezuela's leftist government sucks, as did the Soviet Union and as does Cuba. Even more moderate governments like Brazil's under Lula didn't really do everything a leftist government is supposed to- I'm told by my friend from Manaus that the public education system is really weak, putting a major emphasis on private schooling. Brazil has both private and public Universities, with public universities being free and private being paid, meaning that those who could pay for a good private education are favoured for getting into the free universities, while public students generally have to go to the paid ones. He also said that Lula's government was communist though, so I dunno if he is the best authority on the subject. Where I live, about 40% of people are elderly German women, 50% are from Alberta, 5% from elsewhere, and then, like, 2% from other countries, and then 3% who aren't white, so it's very conservative- One of my co-workers is quite right-wing, for example. All the same, though, she's a lovely person who definitely doesn't want big corporations to take over everybody- her political opinion is just very different from mine, as has been her life experience. There's no single correct point of view, even if it feels like our own opinion is objectively perfect. I have a feeling that I learned more about the American civil rights movement from public school than most Americans did from theirs and it's kinda weird.
  23. I would still make the argument that he did a good job of improving the lives of his people and his country, not to mention setting it up for a democracy by granting women full suffrage early on. True. I admit I didn't know about where she defended the military's actions, though. I think it's hard to argue that he didn't have any power, though. If he didn't, I don't think he'd be as famous as he is.
