  1. I guess the simplest explanation is that Ashera did know about the branded but then just forgot about them when she was preparing her whole wipe out all life attack. Even though she was diligent enough to remember to subconsciously punish them and their parents when she was asleep...
  2. Looks like an explanation is needed on the weapon rank promotion. Some classes promote by weapon rank, the mage class for example starts off with all types of magic but depending on what type has the highest weapon rank upon promotion (reaching level 21 or using the an item like the master crown) it will promote to one of three classes. So if when your using your mage you specialize in light magic it will become a monk. Similarly the Baron upon promoting to a Marshall will lose it's anima rank only if it didn't bother using magic in the first place. Otherwise it will promote to a Master Knight. The Black Knight was also thrown in there as a secret "awesome but impractical class". They have really high stat caps and access to the overpowered mastery skill eclipse but to get one you must promote a general or royal knight with a low lance weapon rank (which would mean destroying your knight with bonus exp or prepromoting it). On your other points there already is a sword/axe user under the hero and vanguard classes but giving Corsairs knives might work (even if it goes a bit against the fire emblem depiction of pirates and bandits). I haven't played Fe13 yet to get the feel of Griffon Riders so I want to do that before deciding too much about them. I also had the same strain of thought as you did for the assassin/ninja using swords knives and bows but also decided not to since it would act the same as a ranger (though FE13has given assassins bows so mayhaps I'll ax the ranger class in order to do that). I've already renamed the druid as a sorcerer and your right having dark mage and light mages as different tiers is kind of strange so I'll rename the dark mage druid. I also have to disagree with having a set number or promotions for all classes. Some classes are more versatile than others when it comes to what they can specialize in and during the course of most fire emblem games you tend to get more mages than you would bandits so having it so you can do more with each mage makes things more customizable. Having it so each class can only promote into one or two requires less originality on my part (as that is the way things are done now and I wouldn't be doing anything new at all) and having it so each class must promote to more than two could really mean a lot of forces classes that just don't fit.
  3. Accepting magical nature in video games is expected. Whats weird about this case is that they gave a fine reason for it and then took it back for no real reason. What does Ashera not knowing about the branded really accomplish plot wise?
  4. So the branded are a result having both laguz and beorc ancestry. They get a brand and their laguz parent loses the ability to transform. This is attributed to the Goddess punishing them yet later in the game it is implied that Ashera doesn't know about the branded. So where does the brand come from and why do the laguz lose the ability to transform? I can't remember if this is ever addressed in the game after it is suggested Ashera doesn't know about the branded. Does anyone have any answers for me?
  5. I don't think its there's that many. I did make an effort to try an add an extra suitable weapon for tier 3 in most cases. The ones that suffer most from looking to similar are the mono weapon classes (which are meant to be like pure classes, similar throughout) and the Battle Monk/Cleric which I don't know all that much about. Admittedly the third tier dragon mount classes wield the same weapons as the second tier ones but somehow it looks acceptable in their case, to me anyway, I'm not sure why. There are some third tier classes that are similar to their second tier classes but I think there are a lot more that are different as well.
  6. That's a good point. I obviously took the name from the Wyvern Master class but I have heard that it's called the Wyvern Master in Japanese versions and I do agree that lord should really be for the actual lords. It's not just going to be weapons that make them different. They will have mastery skills and of course many different stat cas. On top of that if your saying the general purpose of many classes are similar remember that you won't get a chance to train up everyone of these classes on a single playthough either. On a more general note I want to say I havn't played Fe13 yet so I'm not exactly sure how to work with some of the classes, most noteably the Girffon Knight and Trickster classes. From what I have heard the Trickster is meant to be a major support class by being a healer and a thief. The only thing I can really tihnk of to make it more support worthy upon promotion is to give it a mount as well but then I can't really imagine a mounted unit stealing and picking locks and if it can't do that then a mounted healer is just a Troubador. Would it be ok to just not give a trickter anything special upon promotion and just leave it as a better stats version? Or should I maybe make Trickster a third tier that promotes of rouge and get rid of the Charlatan? Griffon Knights I'm not sure what the advantages and disadvantages of them are towards other units. The only thing I really know is that they only use axes and have a lance slayer skill so I've just left them as mono axe wielders for now (even though that means there are three third tier classes like that). Still open to suggestions on that one.
  7. Corsairs are a promotion of Pirates giving them good movement over mountains and ocean tiles which is there main gimmick.
  8. So about half a year ago I made this thread. http://serenesforest...opic=29874&st=0 Which showed my ideas for a branching class system like in the Sacred Stones and now Kakusei. Since then Kakusei was released in Japan and information about it's classes system came out I've modified my own branching class trees to include the new classes (also played Fire Emblem 4 and took a little bit more from that). So here they are. I've made two pictures which are the same only one shows all the classes in one diagram while the other repeats classes where some of the branching gets a bit complicated keeping similar classes grouped together a bit more. So anyway I got loads of feed back on my last thread and would love to hear what people think of it now. I also have a few questions about certain things such as advantages and disadvantages for some classes but I'd like to get the initial feed back first. So don't be shy, whether it's good or bad, tell me what you think. And here it is again with everything linked together, which turned out nicer than I thought it would. Also if you didn't figure it out from the key the coloured dots are the method of promoting the classes.
  9. I reckon he did know of Sephiran's entire plan. As people have stated already it seems likely that Sephiran knew Miciah's origins and if he sent Zelgius there to protect her then Zelgius likely knew of Sephiran's origins too. He seems very sure of his reasoning to protect Miciah. He never says anything like he doesn't understand her importance yet still needs to protect her. And Sephiran did tell them when they first met that he was in a similar position to Zelgius. After spending so long together Zelgius most likely asked what he meant by that. Further more Ike''s memory scene shows that he is well aware that this medallion is not something that will bring peace and harmony onto the world. Causing Ashnard's war and all the bloodshed that followed in both games Zelgius would have to know that Sephiran had some kind of motive. Either that or he reckons Sephiran is really damn sadistic for no reason thinks it's cool to help him out a bit.
  10. The fact that sacrifice heals status effects could be a reasonable explanation for that scene. Yes Miciah takes the damage her patient has but it ignores pesky thinks like infection and disease meaning she can sterilize wounds and make sure they heal efficiently on their own. Just a thought.
  11. I want so see some time put into Fiona. That's the purpose of voting right, to try and use characters that wouldn't normally be used in a playthough. mix things up a bit.
  12. The random multi part chapter here has always confused me. It seemed pointless to include since this isn't any major climactic battle (ok the first one of the liberation army but still really not that important in the overall game). The first part serves no plot related purpose and is just a gameplay addition (which is fine but it just seems so random to only have one here out of the entire game). It seems like they just added it to introduce the concept in the game so they could use it for the final chapter. Which in reality also provides to be pointless in splitting it up like that. Absolutely noting would have been lost if the last five parts of the game where actual chapters instead of one chapter split up into completely distinct parts. I always though the Tower of Guidance should have been part 5 of the game (5 is just a nicer number than 4) and have part 4 end with taking back Sienne, the capital. I was disappointed that wasn't an actual chapter. Oh and I want to see Fiona in the next map.
  13. What other Manaketes have been mentioned though. As a plot device will they play a big role in this game?
  14. So whats the word on Manaketes in this game? I know Naga is part of the lore and that Tiki will make a return (which is awesome I love Tiki) but I haven't heard anything else regarding them. I'm hoping for a couple more playable Manaketes, most games just leave it with the Tiki archetype, I'd like to see more playable Manaketes and a wider use of Dragon Stones available to the player. Lets us have two or three manaketes and several different types of Dragon Stones for magical and ranged attack as well as the standard become super powerful. What are your opinions on Manaketes and what is the latest word on their appearance?
  15. They were Barons? I assumed they were generic Generals. I managed to by pass all of them and seize the castle with Celice and a Leg Ring. Ueually I'd go for the experience but it was the final chapter so I didn't bother.
  16. Experience on the field would probably do it. Characters don't start off with their 20/20 stats. Anyway what I meant by that comment mostly was that in a series where people can throw fire balls so casually using books (that have a certain amount of uses?) we can hand wave some practicalities. Was there any Barons that wielded a tome and weapons? I'm not sure about their stats which probably were even being bosses but I can't recall any that did actually use weapons and magic. Not that it makes a different though since they could. Still though a non playable class makes the whole point moot.
  17. How does one become proficient in magical ability in the first place?
  18. I just remembered that Naesala can use a magic wind attack in Path of Radiance. Is that useful? I haven't played PoR so I don't first hand. I heard it was bad but looking at his stats it seems like it could be quite useful.
  19. I did think about Elincia when making this but she only has 30% strength growth (not bad but still her second lowest and out balanced when compared to her 80% magic growth). Still though she does get an awesome sword for physical attacking so I guess it's not all that bad. Actually scratch that I was looking at her FE9 stats, Yeah she has a 65% 40% which is pretty balanced.
  20. Haven't played 12 but can the female mage my unit use any sort of physical weapon? I thought it would just be a standard mage -> sage.
  21. So a question. In pretty much every Fire Emblem game I've played characters will always level up in either strength or magic never both. I can think of no characters off the top of my head who have good strength and magic stats (without having hugely superior stats across the board). The developers seem to have realized this too when it came to making the Gameboy Advance games but instead of making some characters who could be mildly good at both they decided to make strength and magic pretty much the same stat. I feel like it waste some of the potential of what could be diverse classes and weapons. Like Mage Knigths. Monted Magic and swords wielders sounds great when you first see it but for the most part their swords are useless unless your using a magic sword which in turn is useless for most standard sword users. The Levian Sword just seemed useless in Shadow Dragon without reclassing someone specially to use it. Is this a big a problem as I think it is and does anybody else think it's something that maybe should be addressed. I'm not asking all units to be capable in both I'd just like to see maybe some units able to use both magic and physical attacks. Like a mercenary who actually can effectively use a magic sword.
  22. Wow you have some awesome level ups. Also provided some thoughtful insights. While I don't agree with a lot of the complaints I do agree that having the capture sequence at the end of Chapter 1 would have fitted a lot better than having a chapter 2. The presence of the wolves stopping the medallion also makes a lot of sense. I always thought it was a combination of two brutal wars in a row that did it ( a three year hiatus being noting to immortals). I also wonder from the comment on Micaiahs brand whether Edward, Nolan and Leonardo know about it. Is this ever mention anywhere in game or otherwise?
  23. I never considered that possibility for a second but now that I think about it that would make a lot of sense. I mean Ashnard must have been enticed into getting the medallion by someone and having an already established character rather then some randomer would make a lot of sense. (Heh personally I always assumed it was a disguised Ashnard which is quite ridiculous when you think about it)
  24. The lack of spaces was a copy and paste fail. It just seemed to have randomly removed spaces all over the place. I will edit it later to try and make it more bearable to read.
