  1. if we're being honest here, about 90% of the stuff on serenes is awful. This place has the worst taste in any forum I stumble upon. I'm not talking about only sprites, but written stories, hacks etc. And yet these are the same people who are extra critical to others. I have no qualm with it either. It's just hilarious. The way these people talk, you'd think they're experts, but then you take a look at their work and laugh. It's hilarious like that. sometimes they look at a picture and say "the neck looks broken" or "legs look broken" even though the pic looks just fine. You know sometimes when you look at a word for too long, it seems like it isn't spelled right even though it's written correctly. That's exactly what happens to these people. They are being too critical even when they have no idea what they're talking about. I'm going to give you another example. At some dental clinics, the dentist puts a big object (eg a desk) between the patient and the mirror, so that the patient doesn't get too close to the mirror, inspects too closely, loses perspective and begins to see all the flaws that are not there and complain. If you look at yourself in the mirror for too long, you're going to find all kind of wrongs with your face, but to other people you look fine. Why be too critical when the errors are not even that bad (or not even there). Note I'm not saying anyone should sugarcoat anything, and this is not even my thread to begin with, so I don't even care that much. But anyway, honest opinion here.
  2. i did attempt to give him some color priscilla because i still can't draw hector:
  3. someone who is mature, i guess. able to be calm in a lot of situation and good at solving problems.
  4. you guys have such eyes for details it's almost frightening
  5. because focus doesn't matter
  6. he doesn't look nervous to me... more like.. melancholic? the stick figure looks funny standing there though lol
  7. Niharu: yeah i think that chibi marcus looks pretty fierce lol xD and he has 4 javelins behind his back. Mercakete: ah i was trying to put the light near his palm (wizard eliwood xD), but the layer is not big enough to move around so had to settle it there Rehab: thanks. i've been trying to draw full hector, but i find macho manly dudes in armor are hard for me to pull off... maybe i should draw hector shirt-less in the meantime i'm having fun with gimp after re-downloading it again... sparkling eliwood: and a joshua sig as you can see i enjoy putting excessive lighting on my stuff
  8. thanks for the nice comments ah... figured lyn's eyes were a bit off (partly also due to the camera angle which distorted it even more). the hair is probably too big too? lol. eliwood and his vassals: +some flashy light effect
  9. race to a treasure chest before the enemy? there would be a maze with different kind of monsters (third party who attacks both you and enemy) at different choke points and the treasure chest is in the middle. you find the fastest way to get to the treasure. some monsters can be overpowered and ORKO, some give you good exp etc. i had a hacked rom story about jaffar's training under nergal to become an assassin. in this map jaffar is a thief who is competing with another thief for the treasure in the middle of a maze which contains the fell's contract. whoever gets there first will be able to get the item, promote into an assassin and hunt down the other. tl;dr, probably not a very interesting idea
  10. recent sketches of lyn, eliwood and hector even though they look nothing like the original characters
  11. the eyebrows are too long you can google "eyebrow golden ratio" for tips and images
  12. already mentioned, but i like using Karla & Bartre, A support and everything matthew doesn't exactly suck, but as an assassin he has never really impressed me, but i have to promote and use him everytime
  13. as for me i can't watch a medieval movie without thinking certain characters are of certain FE class... eg if i see an actor weilding sword i would try to figure out if he's a hero or a swordmaster... or if i see flying monsters i'd say "bring out the ballista" lol
  14. in the initial formation you have 3 units outside the throne room, right? i put oswin, matthew and priscilla. First turn, Matthew open the door, oswin comes in to stand at the upper door (equipped with a javelin to counter the other nomads and the mage), priscilla runs into the middle of the throne room. Which leaves matthew as the only unit in sealen's range. Enemy phase, sealen attacks matthew, which requires him to go up by a few square. Second turn, matthew runs into the middle of the throne room, having priscilla heal him if needed. oswin just stands where he is. Enemy phase: sealen attacks oswin. Next enemy phase: sealen attacks the tent. Next turn: oswin corners sealen. i would record a video or post some snapshot, but that would require me to replay the game, which i'm not too eager to right now ;p
  15. at least in all my gameplays, yes. oswin guards at the door next to the tent, guy at the wall crack, hector/bartre/dorcas/erk fight the armors, soldiers and archers - as long as they don't venture too far down or to the right, sealen never goes down to attack them, instead he goes to attack oswin (which does no damage), then he goes further up to use his long bow to attack the tent. Then you can trap him with oswin and kill him with a horseslayer.
  16. ^ how many turns will it take? curious, because i'm reminded of once seeing someone train nino to 20/20 sage in one level but it takes 999 turns and that's just... considering she only has like 2 stats maxed out in the end, one would be better off with hack
  17. 2/10 goes straight to the throne/tent/death if you stay out of his range
  18. 7/10 for having to get your thief all the way to him to steal with enemy reinforcements all along the way but i usually can take him out with damage from matthew (after the steal) and hector who stands nearby, with priscilla around ready to heal them (and ready to get promoted with that ring). maybe i had another character around to damage him as well.idk i never even noticed that his tome was a Luna and realized how dangerous it could be. all i knew was that he had a guilding ring. weird. xD
  19. It all depends on your style of playing. If speed is what you're going for, mounted units are the best and i can see why they're ranked so high. Admittedly it does kind of annoy me to see most people (or at least a lot of threads Í've personally come across on here) favor the speed/turn-saving style and basically bash foot units, simply because this clashes with my own style and I'm biased, that's it. I prefer foot units because correct if I'm wrong, the best units with the best caps are mostly on foot. I'm the kind of person who likes to spend time to train ppl with good growth and potential, no matter how crappy they appear at first. Horsies are good and versatile, but they don't have the best caps. Plus a whole army of Paladins is just boring. Practical, definitely, but boring. Troubadours/Valkyries are always a must in my team, though :)
  20. good stats +1 for good look and a Lord who can use lance (which is more interesting than a Lord who uses swords since it's overdone) 8.5/10
  21. 5/10 personally haven't had problems with him... i usually let guy (lv11 or so, can't remember) defeat him with a crit later in the final chapter, i rely on Matthew and Jaffar to one-hit kill him, and it usually works, if not all the time
