  1. Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention this: After that, I put him through the arena, and he missed 7 65%s in a row and died on Weissmann. He's cursed.
  2. @Saint Rubenio I apologize sincerely, I had already saved over Azel killing Kinbaith and Arden was 1 space away from killing Elliot. This is depressing.
  3. I could've had him kill DiMaggio, but not doing so meant Arden could choke the point at the river to Evans.
  4. It's also on the box of the orchestrations CD, which was in the Berwick copy I got last fall. Oho? Also, I'm starting an FE4 subs run. Arden has so far only killed one boss, that being Gerrard. Maybe I can get him to kill Kinbaith too.
  5. Save travels, Shrimpy! Hope you enjoy it!
  6. I'm such a nerd about Berwick that one of the few things I can actually understand in Japanese is the characters for "Clouds of War." Though TBF there's also Clouds of War II in the Vestaria Soundtrack and HSoS Ch20 being named "Clouds of War"
  7. I finished FE12 a couple days ago, so I'm gonna give some thoughts on it (it's also now in the list in my sig for my ranking for it among the other FE games). First, the common complaints, mainly story stuff. Kris was a very middle-of-the-road character in the supports; sometime he seemed like a real person with flaws and whatnot, other times he was getting praised simply for existing. Mostly inoffensive, but his story presence was such a drag. All the times he shows up just to completely shatter the tone of especially serious moments (particularly after Chapters 7 and 21, those were so hilariously awful), or steal great lines from people like Jagen or Marth. I get the defense of Kris that it makes the exposition dumps a bit less wonky since he's, y'know, a dumbass from a small village, but then he suddenly comes up with stuff like the plan in Adria Pass, a place he knows nothing about. Great consistency. Now, to gameplay: Right off the bat, I was not a fan of the prologues and the gaiden chapters, but that was to be expected from what I'd heard. Especially 20x. I hated stuff like 3x and 10x for being stupid puzzles / infinitely respawning OP ambushes, but 20x... god that map was terrible. Easily one of the worst ones I've played across the series. The normal chapters were interesting, because some chapters were straight up improvements over FE3, and others completely misunderstood what the original maps were about. I've talked about the changes to maps like Graveyard of Dragons, and how it went from an intense rushdown through enemies that were obscenely powerful offensively despite their 0 AS, to a map where you just facetank the dragons with a high-defense unit and then just block the forts for a while until Marth seizes. I feel like this style of change makes a lot of the mid-lategame feel like Block the Fort Emblem (BTFE), which isn't very fun to me. This touches into probably my biggest complaint with the game, coming from H1: a lot of the enemies felt super weak against my tanky units, but with the BTFE-style changes to the original maps and the design of some of the Gaiden maps, I don't exactly feel encouraged to try a higher difficulty because I fear the stat inflation will just exacerbate the problems. Though, to my knowledge at least, H2 doesn't spam reinforcements as much as H3, so if I replay the game, H2 will be my choice. Despite my rantings on the gameplay, though, I did ultimately enjoy a lot of the game. Heck, maps like 23 and Endgame were super fun experiences when they were just kinda easy cheese in FE3, which was refreshing. I know it's still completely possible to cheese Endgame on H1, but it's gotta be a lot harder unless your army is basically all just staffbots + Marth. I also get the feeling Ch23 would've been more easily cheeseable if my Merric wasn't speed-screwed, but hey.
  8. This game sounds perfect. I should check it out. That works perfectly for you.
  9. Mm, yeah. It's really depressing. But I think we do indeed have an opportunity to push forward toward something brighter. I remember hearing last month, I believe on NPR, that even just dealing with the largest sources of methane polluters, the world would begin to cool down a bit in just 12 years. Of course, cutting back on CO2 now is also of critical importance due to how long that stuff remains in the atmosphere, but cutting methane emissions would buy a lot of time for us to do just that. Now, if only we could actually get legislation that considered this.
  10. 😄 Thanks! I'm definitely starting to feel improvement even though it took me several tries to get the general shape of her head right
  11. Also, I've been sketching more VS characters lately. I'll do more Berwick ones eventually, but so far I've found the VS style(s) a bit easier to sketch. Cezar: And Bertholia:
  12. Yeah, I can't even think of a silent protag game without dialogue options of the top of my head that I've played.
  13. Yeah, out of everyone there, he seems to struggle the most with disassociating the characters on-stage from the people, though the entire crew (minus Suki) does to an extent. That's yet another thing I love about that episode: how each of the characters reacts to their caricatures. I personally feel like it's only annoying with Aang because he directly fails to disassociate them.
  14. I usually just Thief Staff it once the dragon moves off or have Julian or Rickard nab it once the dragon is dead. But still, I couldn't just ORKO the dragon and be done, I had to expend a unit slot or a use of the Thief Staff to keep Marth and co on a good pace to not get mobbed. It's actually my favorite map in FE3. And honestly, after that, I think I take back what I said about FE3's difficulty. If this is how maps are gonna be (though I know that, like in FE3, 19 and 20 will spike hard in difficulty), FE12 H1 is not as tough. I think it's just stuff like the Chapter 6 throne room being insanely threatening that threw me off. Or 10x. Fuck 10x.
  15. Alrighty, just played Chapters 11 and 12 of New Mystery. 11 was basically just "haha desert map," but all the wyverns have 1 range. Despite having an actual speed stat this time, them hitting on Defense combined with 1 range lock made them piss-easy to fight in comparison to FE3. 12 was still pretty good, but I think FE12 as a whole and its design philosophy made the map less unique. In 3, while you can mount on the part past the first room, you don't have the Boots yet, and the Pisces shard is in a chest under the top-right dragon. Also, the only reinforcements were from the bottom 3 forts, but they never stopped coming, so the map felt a lot more urgent and dangerous there despite the FE12 version spawning Wyverns on top of you. This time 'round, I felt like I was just doing the usual block-the-forts-to-win strategy, while in 3, I couldn't do that since literally everybody in the party would get 2HKO'd by the 33 attack Brigands with Devil Axes (which didn't backfire on enemies in that game) and the 20 attack Dragons, since having more than 40HP at that point in the game is incredibly hard to have. So, while the FE12 version had a lot more enemies on it, I felt like the FE3 version was way more intense due to the low move at the start, constant stream of pressure from behind, and the loads of 1~2 range defense and res-ignoring Dragons waiting to destroy you.
  16. I really wish I still had my save file with my Level 22 Killer Knife Thaddy in Endgame. That run was wild.
  17. Welp, looks like Axel and Thaddy are your searchers now. Do Combat Thaddy just for the memes. It's... an experience.
  18. Step 1. Load up with +hit braces Step 2. Spam down armor knights and such with Dire Thunder Step 3. Put Reese in Commander range Step 4. Holy shit, actual hitrates
  19. Another Berwick run, I see. Ouch for Axel though.
  20. I should specify that some maps are easier and some are harder. Chapter 6 is slightly easier in 3, mainly due to slightly weaker enemies in the throne room, but Chapter 10 is a fair bit tougher since you have to deal with dismount penalties and such, and can't just dracozoom across the water immediately.
  21. I think you met Amlute briefly in Chapter 5. Ariel doesn't show up until like chapter 13 though, so it makes sense she'd be entirely unfamiliar.
  22. Book 2's a pretty fun time, I'd say. It's definitely more challenging than Book 1. From what I've played between FE12 H1, it's a little easier at times, but not by much. For example I've heard that Chapter 12 of FE12 has a lot of reinforcements from all the forts, while in Book 2, there's just a constant stream from the back forts, like you're being chased down through the graveyard full of enemies who, no matter what you do, will pretty much always 2HKO your units.
  23. So, though I've never really had any talent for art, I decided to sketch some characters (Berwick, HSoS) that I like recently. I'll post the better ones in a spoiler tag to not take up too much space. Derrick: Karajan: Amlute: And Ariel: And now, for something completely different: I'm up to 10x in FE12 H1 now. So far, some maps have been super fun (Chapter 8, Chapter 5), some have been piss-easy (Chapter 10), and some have just been a slog (Chapter 3, the throne room of Chapter 6). When the maps are fun, it's a blast, but the lack of dismounting and the free reclassing system trivializes the hell out of some of these maps. Ultimately, I'd say this game is a bit over 3H for me, maybe. Also, sidenote on Kris: I actually think he's pretty decent in most of the talk conversations. He's a bit of a dumbass who can lose his cool, and I think having a self-insert be this rash sometimes-idiot is kinda fun. The problems arise when he's actually in the story for me, when he starts stealing lines and just ruining any sense of tone. Like at the end of Chapter 7, when Jagen's telling Marth they'll have to move quickly across the bridge in order to not get killed, and then any urgency is ruined by Wendell basically saying "HEY KRIS YOU WANNA TRY ON A NEW HAT?!"
  24. "W-What!? I don't like this game, b-baka!"
